    This video gives me stronger hope that I’ll actually be able to realize my dream of hunting my own land (I’m currently searching for a property) and I won’t be able to get 10, 40, or 80 acres like I’ve seen in a lot of hunting videos. Thank you!

    Great video. I'm hunting off about 2.5 acres with 40 behind me that know one is allowed to hunt. And In front of me a railroad bed on other side all state land. Kill plot did wonders for me seeing bucks last year compared to a bait pile.

      Good to hear. I’m not saying you can’t use corn. But there is better ways to get it done. If you do use corn don’t dump it in a pile. Just sling it all over it’s more natural to them that way. Good luck 👊

      Burn your forest floor or food plots when they are dry to restore nutrients to the soil and induce browse to grow. American Indians have always and still do this to manage healthy forests and imitate wildifires that would naturally spread through the woodlands and create a more diverse landscape great for hunting deer. This is the way that the forest, deer, and fire evolved together.

    Deer like corn and sweet feed if they're near cattle. Clover, peas, sweet grass, acorns, and rye grass they crave. The corn lacks protein for antler development which takes a lot of their stored up fat reserves. A good feeder that hold protein pellets would be beneficial. A deer covers an area greater than 650 acres, a buck can cover a square mile easily breeding does up to a 5000 acre range. That's why he's king of the woods.

    Nice video for the "little guys" those of use w/ not massive plots of land to hunt outside of public land. I have 15 acres that I can hunt but it's long and narrow. Literally only 150-200 yds wide. It's got 263 acres of woods/fields next to it that have lots of bucks and does in it. My strip of land is next to tree tops from being logged and a crop field. I have been using corn and have had some mixed emotions about it from experiences and watching videos. I like your idea of spraying the vegetation which I have around my stand. I've asked the land owner not to mow up around my stand this year too as I've noticed I have more bucks coming around grazing.
    I've made a nice mock scrape from another video I watched and it's magical how they come to it all year round. I have also experimented w/ human urine on it. I've found when I pee on it, it draws bucks in, but I had my daughter pee on it and the camera got nothing for nearly a week until rain came in.

    Great video! I'm dealing with a 4 acre property with 2 acres of woods. Im immediately surrounded by other 4 acre properties, but just outside of that on 3 sides is the state forest public land, on the other side is a wild life management area that is basicly a lottery permitted area for hunting. I have lots of deer passing through during the night time hrs, but very few daytime pics. I have been using corn and a gravity feeder, but also tried planting a plot mix. The mock scrap seems to work, but still only at night.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      It will be hard to get deer on your land being it is only 4 acres and 2 acres of woods. Deer that end up on your land at night is either to pressured or they are coming from a far distance away. Which means they are bedding far away. Only thing you can really do is try to create a bedding area on your land in those 2 acres of non woods and then have a food source. Hunt on very specific days according to the weather. First opening couple days would be best to take advantage of. Keeping pressure low. I always say don’t hunt because you want to. Hunt because it makes sense on properties that are small like that

      @@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors awesome, thanks! There is a big powerline clearing on my back acre that has all the deer traffic that I'm hunting. FPL doesn't maintain it and I mow down the golden rods and briars to create a decent clearing for a kill zone. 90% of the vegetation in the forest is Pines. 100% of mine is acorn dropping oaks.

    No their checking for predators and humans are the biggest, the deer will go far as his noise will take him. A mock scrape created during the season, a stand that wasn't there two days ago, a new corn feeder, that just appeared. Deer are very smart and recognize the same human scent a mile away.

    I was wondering since you spray the antler grow all over the plot when they eat it does it actually help to antlers grow probably a stupid question

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  4 роки тому

      No stupid questions. The answer is yes. Forget the name on the bottle. It’s micro nutrients. Micro nutrients are in the soil but in low numbers. Plants uptake these nutrients from the soil. When deer eat plants they are getting vitamins and minerals. That’s how they live and get nutrients. What answer grow does is add the nutrients directly to the plants and the plants actually absorb them through the leaves. This results in a more nutrient dense plant. More vitamins more protein etc. this can easily be tested with a tissue test of sprayed and non sprayed plants. Higher nutrient plants means bigger deer.
      Hope that helps

    I am 42 and this is my first season hunting. I haven't seen any deer, but I know they are all around the area I am at because of the beds and all the droppings. Any suggestions for making natural blinds to hunt from, and is there anything i can do in the "off season" to try to get them more used to my being around?

    • @breakingboundaries1388
      @breakingboundaries1388 Рік тому

      Redneck deer stand out of scrap wood up high in a Y of a tree preferably kinda close to the feeder so you can either use a rifle or bow for the different seasons. Also put something dirty and sweaty kinda close by as well so they will be used to your scent while they eat.

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      If they are there at night then most likely they are coming from a far distance and by the time they get there it’s dark. That’s due to to much pressure on your land and or poor habitat. Your land is just a pass through spot. Only real way to help
      Is to plant food plots. Also depending on how much land you have maybe make a bedding area and then have a food plot maybe 100 yards away from that. To much unknown for me to answer anything else. Hope that helps

    I got 140 acres. Along my N boundary I have a say 6 acre finger of woods kind of and island that crosses prop line. Note no hunting to north but a good 160" calls it home. I can't figure out how to hunt this deer. With no pressure to the N I would be the only pressure. The buck is only on cameras in morning always 5 min before light. I have 7 cameras out he's only on the one camera. Been getting multiple pics a week but only on that camera. Thoughts

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  5 років тому +1

      5 mins before light he’s headed back to bed most likely. I would either wait until he shows up in daylight before you start hunting that area around your cam. He’s gotta slip up sooner or later.
      Or find out where he’s feeding in the afternoon and hunt about 50-100 yards off that. Which direction is he headed when your getting pictures? Away from your land or on your land?

    • @patrickmcdaniel8770
      @patrickmcdaniel8770 5 років тому

      obsessioi got 40 acres of tillable didn't not get planted bc of wet spring into early summer. Farm to N did get planted in sorghum. He's feeding to N and coming back through just a small area on me. I think I'm screwed with no food. This year

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  5 років тому

      Patrick Mcdaniel so he’s feeding off your land and headed back to your land probably to bed on or just around your property line. They usually don’t bed far from food this time of year. Did you try and mock scrapes? They are super powerful. I would just wait until he starts showing up in daylight just a matter of time

    I was planning to plant game changers clover seed this spring, I have a small strip in the woods with less trees but it would have lower light access and unknown soil PH. Is there any other plant better suited for these conditions?

    • @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
      @Whitetailobsessionoutdoors  4 роки тому

      Well it’s always best to get a soil sample and fix with lime otherwise you are 99 percent of the time wasting your time and money. Without property soil ph plant won’t grow a lot of times or grow and then die off.
      With that said you need at least 4-6 hours of direct or filtered sun light. Clovers do ok for spring and summer.
      Best bet for fall would be either winter wheat, oats and rye grain seed.

    • @dpelky4433

    • @Dougarrowhead

      Clover is best for winter. Deer here wont even touch wheat oats or rye and we have acres and acres of it.

      No wonder they don’t touch the rye. It’s the least palatable plant you could ever plant for them. It’s junk. Cheap. People plant it because it will grow on a rock.
