In the initial soccer aid matches the ex Pros were way past their playing days and having fun and being inclusive of everyone. This game was ruined by recently retired pros Walcott and Defo being utterly selfish in trying to prove something. It was all ego.
This is so true. The really disappointing thing was when Walcott/Defoe just started taking longshots from 30-40 yards and sending them into the stands.

Also i would rather watch eden hazard on a football pitch than speed but each to there own thats why its a personal preference.

@@vPzWalkerx you can watch pros play every week. The fact the quality isn't as good makes it unique. Viewing wise, it would definitely get more, but having watched both, I found the sidemen match (especially 2022 match) much more enjoyable.
@@willwells9708I fully agree. Yes, we all wish that Simon got a lot more time or ball time but at the end of the day, it’s all for charity and people coming at the event is bad. I think Walcott and such should’ve just not been trying so hard but also they raised a crazy amount of money for charity

Soccer aids gone down hill massively, saw two tweets about old matches that had Maradona for the legends then Mike Myers and Woody Harrelson for the celebs. Compare that to Theo Walcott, some Canadian woman and Steven Bartlett
Theo played well, except when he had to run to cover his position, which he clearly couldn't. Apart from that he did good as a playmaker, passing the ball more as a semi-static player. I think the mistake was him not telling Poch that he felt his armstring was dodgy and ask if he could play more in the center instead of running the wing. (if he had that convo with Poch, but considering that might bench him, I udnerstand why he hid it even before the match. But still...).
Simon was just invisible to the other players. They saw him "just a youtuber" so no ball, basically like the kids at school do with the kid with glasses, they either put him as goalie or don't pass the ball no matter how good he might be.

i don’t know if it’s that soccer aid has gone downhill, as much as it’s just that other charity matches have really raised the bar and also have just become a lot more frequent, so soccer aid isn’t as special anymore
