I think having a bed that can ‘disappear’ when not needed is absolutely vital when space is at a premium
Some final destination vibes about that bed rising when I'm asleep and squishing me but it's awesome
LOL! 😂
One thing I have noticed about my viewing of content is I often learn from a persons build(good or bad) and just move on, that I am going to work on changing because I recognize the effort people put into sharing their build and I want to say thanks!!
I wish you had a full build video! Would have loved to see it from start to finish!
agreed!
Love it mate, thanks very much for this! So good to see, so often explanations are either over complicated or not in depth enough, I thought this was perfect! Looks great too - loving the content
I watch alot of people who live in their van and your build is easily the second best ive seen on here. This is amazing and only Living The Van Life does it better
Best DIY van bed - hands down. Nice work!
Appreciate you sharing your knowledge mate… really love the almost invisible integrated look you achieved 👍
Never give up on the things that you enjoy in life ✨️ the simple pleasures
Great build! My favorite part of the video is when you magically appear just after the 2:00 mark. 😉
haha - that`s another of his "inventions" - vlog for later upload
Great name change and glad to see you keep making videos Everett
Thank you!
Just found your channel. Love it. Binge watching and your photography is out of this world.
Fantastic design, application and explanation. This channel not only got a new name, it appears to prove who the true creator was all along. Nice.
This is soooooo helpful! Thank you for explaining everything so well!
See life continues for the better 🙏
So ya that helped me decide which rigs are able to have that kind of setup instead of being limited by the rv guys designs that everyone gets stuck with
Good stuff man 🤙🏻
Great work Mate. Looks awesome.
It's beautiful.
I would love something like this when I travel around Iceland.
I've literally been dreaming about something like this
. Is crazy for real cuz I found this video with just one search. Thanks for the video super clean build 😁🎉
keep your head up man, loving the new van and excited for future videos!
Thanks!
it truly looks great!
i do wonder if anybody has considered flipping the setup around. Raise the sofa floor at night, admitted you might need a double lift so you can then also raise the bed a little, which gives a normal domestic bed height. And while travelling you'd be able to raise both to the ceiling and have a free van floor for your bikes etc
This is great! Looks like you still have plenty of height underneath the bed when it's fully up.
best system so far of all the "pro" and diy systems hands down -
and the dude lists all the parts below - for his great karma account 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for passing on this information !!
Much better than Happy Jack
That’s so friggin cool! It looks so good.
Thank you!
Keep the good work ❤🎉
Keep it up man! Great video :D
Im a new subscriber loving ur content ❤️❤️ looks amazing to do one day
This is really nice
Thank u so much for this.
You are a multi-talented GENIUS!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge🙏🏼 I got a 2017 Ram Promaster and I'm going to have my dad replicate your wonderful bed lift invention ~ Bless you! ✨✨✨🌹
What size Actuators did you get for the lift to go that high and stop automatically-- 40", 50" 60"?
Mine are 60”, but for vertical height it doesn’t matter cause that’s where the end is. I use limit switches for the bottom
@@TravelersTale Thank you🙏🏼
May I ask how you learned all of this, did you study electrical engineering? For such a young man, you are not only knowledgeable, but extremely articulate as well. My hats off to you, well done.
Thank you! No formal education on the subject, just lots of research and interest.
@@TravelersTale That's incredible! Like the commenter said, not only do you have the knowledge but you have the ability to articulate it and explain it so professionally. As i watch each of your videos I just become more and more impressed. You could literally walk into any university and teach a course on this.
This is the coolest thing. Needs to go viral
@@TravelersTalehave you got a link for the electric elevating bed please
@TravelersTale Can I have your phone number and name I'm interested in this product?
Excellent work i wish i can camp with you sometime
Hi I'm so impressed across the board with you, your build, your aesthetic, and your ability to articulate your technical design and reasoning. I've watched many elevator bed video's with hopes of finding a build which suits a room (not van) in order to fully free the floor a few times a week.
??? Given your deep grasp of the options and your system, do you have any thoughts on how to do this without losing central floor space due to the "footboard" track actuators???
My gratitude for any time you take to consider the parameters and solutions for my need.
Incredible build! Just found your channel and watched your tour video as well. Awesome attention to detail. Subscribed. What length actuators did you use for your setup?
Cool Built
this is gold
Thanks!
nice solution, the different speeds are usualy due to the different length of the cable from source, longer cable means higher resistance.
The slightly shorter rails move a little faster too. All in all it’s negligible since they all start and stop at the same place.
this video bought to u by nutella lol...nice system and explanation dude, cant wait for more snow camping
LOL! 😂
Nice lift system and I like the overall decor and styling. So question is how is the lift system holding up over time, any issues or changes you would make given y9ur experience? I'm yet to decide on a lift system for our van and yours is pretty much what we are looking for. All the best on your travels and good luck from the UK.
Love it. My primary concern is a book or something falling off of the bed while you’re asleep and pushing that button. I would at least add a second switch that has to be held down, or preferably adding a safety switch that can cause it to retract that is accessible from the bed level.
Look up for dorothy might be caught in a whirlwind
Love how you built this, can I ask you more questions?
great job very inspiring. Is there a way to manually lower in case of malfunction?
Thank you so much for sharing your design and explaining how it works. You did an amazing job. Do you have any ideas for a (non-electric) swivel chair on a track? My idea is to put a co-pilot seat in the front-right passenger position of a bus above the stairs. But It needs to be movable on some sort of track embedded in the floor. The stairs on a bus take up a lot of usable space and I want to have my navigator (my son) sitting in a regular RV seat that can be ‘parked’ back a ways and to the side, until it’s time to travel. Then I would close down a cover over the stairs, slide the chair smoothly on its tracks into position on top of the stair-cover, and lock into position. Does that make sense? I saw one like this on a bus conversion but didn’t get the link. What would you recommend for a dependable locking mechanism that would keep the seat in place while holding up to 300 lbs? Or my other idea would be to use one of the original school bus seats, having it parked & locked back against the side wall at a right angle to the front when not traveling. Then when it’s time to travel, the seat could be unlocked & pivot toward the front and slide forward to a position where it could be locked in place. Again, it would need at least 2-3 locking mechanisms to hold it safely in place wherever it is parked, and possibly some type of embedded track to slide on when it is pivoted and moved toward the front. What do you think?
Cool
nice
This is awesome. What length actuators did you use?
do you have plans for this? It's very cool! :)
Fantastic, will your bed system work with east to west sleeping?
What size fuse and diode did you use ?? / Great job
If you lose power for some reason, can the bed come crashing down unexpectedly? Is there a way to prevent it from falling on you if your sitting at the table?
The way an linear actuator works is a small powerful motor spinning a screw thread metal rod through a screw thread hole. It cannot go up or down without spinning this rod so can never be in free fall.
I looked up the actuators for myself (in Canada) and they are almost 500 a piece! Back to the drawing board.
did u check the link in the description?
Do you have a video of how to build this elevator bed? I want to make a studio in my detached garage, budget and space is so limited 😢
❤❤❤
Love the ingenuity of it, but I'd not be able to sleep worrying if the mechanics are going to mess up somehow and I'm crushed into the ceiling while sleeping
How about resetable circuit breakers for the electrics.
Fantastic! You are some man. Thanks and congratulations. Do you want a commission to build one in the UK? All expenses paid and pay for the work?
Hi! Email me at taleoftwotravelersyt@gmail.com or send me a dm on Instagram!
Wonderful. Really helps me design my own elevator bed in my van.
Question: How are all 4 actuators running simultaneously? If the weight on each corner is different then won't they start running out of sync?
They always run a little out of sync but self adjust when they reach their limits
Wassup Everest! Got two questions on your bed lift system; would it be able to support a single person bed with 2 actuators instead of 4 in a bus conversion & if given enough height, you could essentially build a bunk bed style lift correct?
How do you run the power to the lights on the underside of the bed?
I might’ve missed it, but what dimensions is the bed itself? It looks somewhat smaller than a double?
This looks so neat, great idea! What size are the actuators you purchased?
60”
@@TravelersTale Thank you for the quick reply! Hope you're keeping warm these days :)
HI, what size actuator did you use? Thanks
Can I hire you to build my van?
I live in federal way! Are you still in the PNW?
Sorry if you mentioned it but what size is the bed?
So is it possible to stop the bed before it gets down to the sea it's like if I wanted to take my grandkids with me they could sleep underneath my bed on the seat?
Yes! It can be stopped anywhere and still actively support 600 lbs. problem is you lose the safety feature
What if a electric short happen and the bed full up when you getting sleep 😴
Dude, you are a smart guy! Plz don't waste it. Go back to school and open your mind to future possibilities. You can have it all ....
Why not a cable and pulley system?
Nutella product placement? “After hitting the switch, I like to kick back with Nutella! Nutella. I put that S#@& on everything!”
Haha free publicity for 1/3 of my diet
I eat that stuff right out of the jar like pudding !
Someone say Nutella? 😋
Two other questions:
Static force 100 lbs for each actuator. Isn't 400 lbs total capacity a bit too narrow for weight of the bed + 2 persons? What is your experience?
Is there some way to manually lower or raise the bed in case on or more of the actuators fail?
Thank you :) I am comparing your build with a system containing 4 'normal' linear actuators and separate guide rails.
No way to do it manually yet, and they’re 150lb each so I call it 400.
Could I use this for a studio apartment?
Yeah why not!
Hi May I ask what size of the actuator are you using?
See the Description.
I’m not that smart so could you break down what you said and what materials do I need to make one and how
Does the bed creep down if not lowered down to rest onto something? Can it be partially lowered and sleep in it at that height?
It can be lowered to any level but is only safe to the weight limit all the way down
Thank you! I love your van build! @@TravelersTale
What are the dimensions of your bed?
Some guys would have made it look more like a man cave. You made it look conducive to a woman living there also. Smart move young man. 😉🤔🥴
Well that was the plan lol…life got in the way
@@TravelersTale You've got a lifetime of adventures coming your way. Sow your oats while you're young and full of piss and vinegar.
Where is the bathroom?
14:14 🤷♂️🤣
The next generation of this would be to make it so that each corner can stop at a different heights so that if the van itself isn't perfectly level, the bed itself can be level anyway.
Have these held up over the past year?
I still use them every day
Make a business out of it 😊
A lot of space behind the seat back is not used.
Where did you buy this bed lift system?
I built it!
This is obviously a Nutella Commercial.
