    Very informative video especially for the new collectors. I've been collecting American Silver Eagles since 1986.

    Nice video! One thing people fail to realize is that spot price is the futures derivatives contract price for 5,000 ounces. Hence why physical silver has a premium.

    not really good to explain prooflike on a coin thats not really prooflike. i dont know what the u.s. mint is doing wrong, but other mints have mirror finished prooflike coins. you can look on the prooflike coins from the pressburg mint. proof is polished (stamp, maybe the blank, more than onetime stamping), prooflike is polished (maybe only the blank, maybe only onetime the stamp hits the blank) and bullion is the same as the coins for circulation.

    I would point out that the differences between a burnished and bullion coin a little more. Burnished have a deeper and more even matte finish, not polished, and are struck twice. Bullion has a standard non polished planchet and is only struck once by the press, not twice like the proof or burnished.

    A 1/4 oz silver coin from Canada has a 5 dollar face value. It would be nice if our eagles had a 20 dollar face, but I guess it wouldnt be a silver dollar then.

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  3 роки тому +1

      So true. For the amount of silver in these eagles $20 should be minimum in my opinion. I'd be fine with it losing that "silver dollar" namesake.

      A 1 oz. silver Maple leaf is $5 CA... any 1/4 oz. coin you may have is either 1) a special coin making the comparison apples to oranges, or 2) counterfeit.

    I bought the 2020 and 2021 W uncirculated burnished bullion eagles but they're not something I will buy anymore until a new design is released. I also chose to hold off on the proof and reverse proof since this is only the first year of type 2 and it should be around for at least another 25 years. I should have plenty of time to buy those finishes in the future.

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  3 роки тому +1

      This is true. The redesign will be around for a while. I think the hype this year is both Type 1 and Type 2 being released for 2021.

    • @misterTVman
      @misterTVman 3 роки тому

      @@TheRealCobraBurnout Ironically they never made a 2021 W Type 1 uncirculated burnished coin. That's why I got the 2020 instead for Type 1. They could have made that a double set too, same with the proofs.

    Hey, thanks for the detailed explanation.
    I just checked the US Mint website cause I'm considering subscribing to the Morgan and Peace Dollars program, and I noticed two things:
    1. Unlike the American Eagle uncirculated coin, the Morgan and Peace Dollars uncirculated coins have no mint mark on them.
    2. The Morgan and Peace Uncirculated coins have a lower mintage limit than the Proof ones (275.000 vs 400.000).
    So it makes more sense to me to go for the lower mintage version rather than the Proof one.
    Isn't rarity > finish?
    Any thoughts on this?

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  Рік тому

      I grab at least one of each if you can. That is my plan currently. The Proof coins will have a bit higher cost and normally a higher demand. But I like both finishes personally. All these type of coins are an uphill battle to recover your money. They cost more than double over spot for the silver content. With that said, when I have needed to resell, I never lost money (so far).

      THESE COINS HAVE NUMISMATIC VALUE. 2021 2023 2024 MORGAN AND PEACE DOLLARS ALL HAVE
      275,000 300,000 400,000 MINTAGE. COLLECTORS AND INVESTORS WILL PAY PREMIUMS IN 5 YEARS WORTH DOUBLE TO TRIPLE THEIR MINT PRICE. SLABBED CERTIFIED WILL BE WORTH EXTRA. I HAVE MULTIPLE SLABBED CERTIFIED SETS I WILL SIT ON FOR 10-20 YEARS AND SEE WHAT THAT BRINGS. I HAVE A BOX OF A COUPLE HUNDRED MORGANS AND PEACE DOLLARS IN CIRCULATED CONDITION THAT I LOVE TO HANDLE AND LISTEN TO THEIR PING. NOTHING LIKE A HISTORIC CARTWHEEL IN YOUR HAND.

    So the mint is alleging that proof coins have a mirrored finish solely due to polishing the dies and blanks prior to striking them more than once? Seriously?

    • @TheRealCobraBurnout
      @TheRealCobraBurnout  Рік тому

      I'm not sure what you are inferring. Do you think they polish the coins afterwards or something?
