Here's the link to Whizz-Kidz, please check them out, they are amazing:www.whizz-kidz.... Here's the link to the free webcast i'm doing this week: po.st/WatchTheShow
I can't tell you how much it means to me that the main character of your book is a wheel-chair user. I was a child who grew up in hospitals, have had many disabilities and had 15 surgeries before the age of 20 and I was so desperate as a child for a book to have someone like me in it. It's why I've been working on my own children's book and why I now run my campaign Scarred Not Scared for people with surgery scars. Thank you for creating a voice for disabled children, to help them feel less alone. I met you in Toronga Zoo when you were touring with 1D and didn't have the courage to tell you but when I was hospitalised when I was 19 for 6 weeks, your wedding speech had just come out and your youtube videos were what got me through. So thank you
Michelle Elman I can relate xxx I'm 22 and just had my fourteenth surgery in September. I have Cerebral Palsy hydrocephalus and vision impairment. I plan on going on a Fletcher book splurge soon just gotta find all the books in the states :) or I'll just import from the U.K. lol. Wishing you well xxx
Omg Dani! I have hydrocephalus as well! So few people know what it is! Best of luck with your recovery, my last hospitalisation was in September as well so I know the road to recovery can be a rocky one. PS I talk about a lot of things related to hydrcephalus on my youtube and instagram (@mindsetforlifeltd), I am really passionate about creating a safe space for hydrowarriors and would love to have you be a part of our community over there
My 8 years old nephew is wheelchair user, he is the happiest kid i've ever knew, despite his troubles he has develope his own way to learn the things ... with music, christmas tales, playing or talking for long hours although the phrases were The same over and over again. He has the same illusion from the first second. I'm so happy to be able to read him this book one day ... when my skills in english improve enough, I know he will ask me to read it to him nonstop. He is singing Rudolph the red nose reender since halloween passed and he calls me "Dinosaur" so.... it's so special to have found your book. Thanks!
Buzz's giggles and joy are so heartwarming. You've gotten lucky with some great kids and you and Gi have done an amazing job nurturing that goodness to grow even more!
Thank you Tom. I am a young wheelchair user and I cannot thank you enough for putting that character in your book. You have my upmost respect. Funnily enough I received help from Whizz Kidz in Glasgow (which is a)where I'm from and b) coincidental as you are there now) a few years ago. Turns out it wasn't the charity or environment for me, so I moved on, but I will always be grateful for the time I had with them. They made me feel respected and worth something, which is something I hadn't felt before. It's a great charity, as you know. Anyway, I just wanted to say thankyou for all you do, Lauren xx Ps. I forgot to add that in a few years time I hope to go and study media at uni. I totally agree with you in the way that disabled people and disabilities are perceived really negatively in the media, or on the flip side are made to look like we are the strongest most inspiring people ever, when in fact we just lead normal lives. I hope that when I go on and study media that I can change perceptions in some way
as someone that works in preschool hes doing well for his age they start counting and abc about mid 2-3ys but usually stop at number 10 id say hes closer to a 3yr olds lvl very smart little boy lol
I was born with Spina Bifida and I am not in a wheel chair or anything but I have a lot of friends who also have Spina Bifida and are in wheelchairs and use crutches to walk and so I think it's amazing that you have a character in your book that is in a wheelchair. Also,Buzz and Buddy are two of the most adorable little boys! You and Gi are great parents!
Thank you so much for writing William Trundle and especially for doing the research for his character, you're absolutely right, people with disabilities hardly ever make it into the media, and when they do, they're pretty poor depictions of what it's really like for us to live in the world that we do. You're amazing, Tom, keep up the great work!
I can't believe I had the opportunity to meet you today. I have waited for years for this day to happen. Thank you so much Tom for being amazing. I am so happy that the main character in your book is a wheelchair user most authors wouldn't tackle this topic.
My Sunday routine: Get up (eventually), check email for 'Dear Carrie' from Tom, sit back and enjoy, get on with the rest of the day. Thanks Tom for making my Sundays!
Omdaayys I remembering mcbusted 😭 I went to there concert like 4 years ago (I went when I was in yr 5 now I'm in yr 7) I love you so much and hope I can see McFly live one day. ❤️
Thank you so much for differentiating between the terms wheelchair users and disabled people. I am a disabled person who can walk (albeit with a limp.) and it sometimes frustrates me when people assume all physically disabled people must be wheelchair users. I'm planning to buy Christmasaurus for my goddaughters this Christmas!
How many Christmas trees did you have this year? Buzz is gonna be so confused once he finds out that Christmas isn't a holiday you celebrate 12 months a year haha
It's great that you have a wheelchair user as your main character and its also great that you are now a patron of whizz kids bc of it. Buzz was so cute in this, as he's getting older he's exploring and learning
I work as a teacher with kids that have a phyiscal handicap. You have No idea how hard it is to find books with kids like them as a main character!! Can't wait to by this book and let them read and enjoy it!!!
Buzz is definitely like you Tom after watching him get all excited for the lights all light up on the tree. Totally reminded me of how you are with Christmas.
I was at the glasgow book signing it was so good to meet you and really appreciated you taking the time to speak to everyone individually and taking photos with us. It was amazing to bring my 9 year old cousin with me to meet you when I've been a fan for 12 years and getting to bond with her over your music with mcfly and now with yours books 😊xx
Wow, amazing that your mouse decoration is in good condition after all those years. Good for you to speed time with the kids from Whizz Kisz. Awesome that you got the Busted album :D Will be getting it for Christmas along with your Anthology album and your book. It's like a coincidence that the Busted and your Anthology boxsets are released just about the same time, making it a McBusted Christmas for me! :D
Hi Tom, I just finished reading the Christmasaurus and it's so awesome, I loved every second of. Thank so so so so much for writing a book about someone who has a disability. I'm not in a wheelchair like William but I do have disability. I have rare Syndrome so I have lots of problems, I have been to hospital so many times, had so many surgeries. When I heard you were writing a book about a person with a disability it made extremely happy cause as you said disabilities aren't talk about like in books etc. You really did an amazing job on writing a book about someone with a disability I could relate to the book so much, you made me feel so good cause I finally had book I could it was a book relate to. I'm sure everyone who has a disability & reads this book will love it & be so proud of you for writing a book about someone who has a disability!! Thank you really much, you are such a nice & caring person❤❤
Tom, I'm a teacher and I can't tell you how AMAZING this is. I tried to have some ideas on how to work with Christmasaurus with my students and you've got some great material on that link. Thank you SO much! I'll definitely be on that webcast! Looking forward to it! xx
I'm so gutted I couldn't come to your Glasgow signing today! I had to go to an award ceremony thing to get my Baden Powell award from the guides 😓 wish I could have gone ❤️
Buzz is doing wonderful with his counting! It's wonderful to you include him in your workout time. :) I'm pretty sure I said this in a previous video, but thank you again for taking the time to talk to people and research good disability representation to use with your book. Do you have a U.S. release date coming?
i work in a primary school with 4-5 year olds and have a few children with spinabifida in wheelchairs, so having a book with relatable characters for them is amazing x
Buzz was so gentle with the tree decs...but i wonder if there was some rugby tackles as he ran or Buddy crawled off with some.....Nice memories for you
I'm so majorly upset. I had no clue you were going to Glasgow for a signing. I would have loved to meet you. It would have been great. Apart from that love you Tom 💗💗
This makes me sad to realise that my family isn't having a christmas tree this year, not that we've particularly had that many in the past 3 years, but at least before we had something.
Getting your two year old to skip to 99-100 in press up counts? Genius!
I can't tell you how much it means to me that the main character of your book is a wheel-chair user.
