They can hear and feel the baby’s heartbeat. My kitty was born 2.5 months before my son. As a young kitten herself she’d curl up next to or on my belly for warmth and comfort once her momma had started to wean her & her brothers. With my 2nd, my daughter who came three years later she did the same thing. She would rarely sleep right next to or on me except when I was pregnant. And my vet confirmed that cats can feel and hear the baby’s heartbeat and the warmth that comes from your pregnancy belly. It’s a comfort mechanism for them.
Cats and dogs have a much better sense of smell than people do, and they actively "train" their sense of smell on top of that. If you smell "weird" because of hormonal changes, and your body temperature has changed a bit, and you're acting a bit weird on top of that? They won't necessarily know what's going on, but they'll be a bit sussed out and curious.
When my Sister was pregnant, her cat could hear when the baby moved. Every time the baby girl moved or kicked, the cat would snuggle up to her tummy and purr. When she started having contractions, he would not be quiet, he meowed and scream every time she would contract, he was like her Midwife/Husband coaching her along. The most emotional thing he did was put his paws on her side and started massaging her while waiting for the ambulance, it made everyone that was aware of his concerns tear up. He did not sleep or eat until she came home from the hospital with my Niece. He loved the baby and made his little motor noises while he sniffed her hair or snuggled with her. When she cried he would be right there wondering what to do for her. He was right every time the baby was touched as if saying " What are you doing with my child". He would alert them when she woke, or when she made baby noises, he would meow right so loudly. He was my Nieces best friend, companion, Fur-brother for the next 14 years of his life. My sister has a cat that is the cantankerous sort of bitey type with everyone. Doesn't really like to be touched. When she got pregnant he was super lovey dovey with her and never bit her the entire pregnancy. Then literally the day she gave birth was back to acting like a little butt hole to her. And now he's always lovey and patient with my niece ever since she was a baby.
@@JessiOz2k07 cats can sense changes in hormone levels and their hearing enables them to hear the babies heartbeat towards the end of the pregnancy. Cats are often gentle when their owner is in pain or not themselves so I’m not sure why this is so unbelievable.
So beautiful and gentle, truth be known the cat probably already knew but u exposing ur bare skin and letting the cat smell and touch took it to another level of love, and protection over u 😻 xo ❤
My cat started acting strange around me almost as soon as I hit 2nd trimester, and has since consistently tried to sit on my belly, like she’s trying to hatch my baby 😂
My cat did this. She sat on my belly as much as she possibly could the whole time I was pregnant. Once I had my daughter, she was no longer interested in sitting on me, just being with my daughter. I later told my daughter that she had a human mom, and a cat mom, who hatched her lol
Yeah it must be that Or it was that look _You're filming me again aren't you, putting up cute clips on UA-cam, no ? Wouldn't it be time to pay me some dues?_
More like "yo I never noticed that weird hole in your belly but now that you're laying there with your shirt up, and your belly is bulging out the most I've ever seen, let me just inspect this... Hmm... *sniff sniff*... That is a really bizarre smell... *sniff sniff* Ew... I love you though :) "
cat's actually know what pregnancy is, if a cat purrs on a pregnant woman's belly the baby will feel the vibrations of the purring and it will help them move around.
"why your belly's so big?" "Let me check.." "This is not fat.." "..there's some movements inside.." "Ohhhh you're pregnant.." "Alright then, I'm not gonna annoy you again for a while"
Judging from the replies I'm missing what this implies. Someone please knock me out with the punchline since I'm as oblivious as a stack of bricks right now ^^'.
@@MarioMarioBW female cats who aren't spayed will often leave their owner's home and come back pregnant. It may be implying that the owner did the same and the cat thinks that's what happened.
Cats are more intelligent than we give them credit for. Towards the end of my first pregnancy, my cat alerted me by continuing to paw at my belly, that my unborn baby was in distress. I went to the doctor the same day and my baby girl arrived that night by emergency C-section due to the cord having been wrapped tightly around her neck. My cat saved her life. As far as I am concerned, she is an angel and she will forever be loved and cherished ❤️
Cats aren't always right. Mine kept pawing at my balls and so I went to the doc and nothing was wrong. Now I mostly just blow off Mr. Poodleskate's diagnoses.
They feel the heartbeat ❤ fun fact: cats purr heals themselves & us from the inside out, it calms anxiety, nerves, stress & depression. Along with other healing effects. Cats are the definition of “good vibes” & are quite literally scientifically proven therapeutic animals ❤❤❤❤
Likely possible; some dogs have been proven scientifically to be able to smell out certain cancers. Cats may pickup on her pheromones, or other things we know nothing of.
It’s incredible that most animals across the board can sense maternity even in another species and then respond in a very loving and gentle way. It shows the beauty of creation in that we are all connected.
"Must protecc at all times" Nah but no joke, one time i watched a video of someone recording their babies room and their cat checked in on the baby almost every 20 minutes every night. Its like instinct for a cat to take care of babies, dogs do it sometimes too!
The cat was totally fixed on the belly button. It's funny to read all those very detailed and specific stories from people here, how the cat knows she is pregnant. It's comedy.
From my mom's experience, she said when she was pregnant with me her cat wont leave her alone, would always stay by her side and guard her. I think pets and animals can feel and detect the situation like any other humans do
They can definitely smell the hormonal changes and hear the baby’s movement, heartbeat etc. Chances are realistic the cat knew she was pregnant before she did.
Lot of stupid people thinks That animals are only acting by instinct and brainless. But that's not true, animals are very intelligens. Not Just cats and dogs are intelligent. For example farm animals are intelligent too, I have chickens and They are simply Just amazing...
Hate to say it but suspicious people thought the cat caring meant it was waiting to steal their "breath" or soul of the baby bit by bit. So sad if you imagine it from a days perspective of caring and then being abandoned or killed. I'm glad you're mom knew better :)

Respect and reverence? It's a cat. It was curious why its owner was suddenly so round. It couldn't care less about a life being born. You realize these creatures eat their babies if they get too stressed right? It an animal for Christ's sake. You people are reading WAY too into a mundane UA-cam video.
@@theincrediblehulk5797 And still they couldn't care less about the reverence of life. The only animal self righteous enough to think like that is the human being.

This is similar to videos of people opening their mouths so their cats will stick a foot inside the newly-formed hole. This cat is probably just checking for mice.
Cats, for the most part, are shockingly intelligent animals. I say "for the most part" because I have 3, and one of them has the i.q. of a hockey puck. But he's a lover.
@Holy Mustard how old? We're practically running a feline senior center. Ours are 17, 18 and 19. 17 still zips everywhere and hunts mice, 18 is a very old 18, rescue that had a rough life. 19 is the doofus. So, Daisy, Wallace and Copilot, in order of age
I heer you. Had cats for 27 years. Moast of them smart as the night is long. And one of them you could heer the rambeling in his brain. A mongst other things, he was a fraid of mice, and he was a farm cat! :-)
Cats might act really stupid, but mostly they are really smart and have a very own reasons for acting that way. No joke, but I've meet more braindead dogs in my life than cats. Over a year ago, I lost my 21-22yo cat (we don't know exacly her birth date, only close date since she was found around half year) due to really bad accident - she fall from the 4th floor windowsill. She was old, had some health problems (we knew that), but... We didn't have a heart to not let her out there, when we knew that she always loved to go there, especially during the hot and sunny days... It was a tragedy for the whole family, especially for my father, since she was "his lover" (as we used to joke), but also for me, since I pretty much grew up with her since I was like 5 or 6, lived together as a part of family, and (sadly) was the first person, that picked her up after the fall (she was still alive, but in deep shock and pain... She also did act, like she couldn't see, but somehow she recognized me and calm down - maybe because I was the only person, that she was comfortable with to carry her around). After all, she died in the owner's hands (my father) maybe 10-15 minutes later, before he could get to the vet. Somehow, we did gather up together after that, but... NGL, the house feels really empty without her - too bad that my parents don't want any new pet... When she was young, she did learn some things (like open the balcony doors) from our dog - even those little bastards did team up together to take the whole chicken from a table for themself when noone did look (lol). She usually was really nice, lovely and loved to play, but she also was stupidly brave too - like that one time, when she jumped from our balcony to neighbour's balcony and went inside their home (like it's her) with a dachshund dog inside (and she never tried that again, even if that dog was really friendly). Because of that type of stuffs, I used to call her "rogue". Back days, when she did something bad, we used to close her in a wicker basket (it was like one of those transport ones, where pet could sleep too) for like an hour, but... She was bailing out all the time - she quickly learned how to open it. Speaking of dogs, she didn't mind them (different story with other cats), but if any dog would make her angry - oh boy... She could beat that dog (and she only was slapping them, not using claws) and make him learn the respect, no matter of his size. She did ran from our home a few times (a typpical cat's curiosity), but we always somehow managed to find her (usually really scared and not so far away). She had one weird behaviour, which was to welcome anyone, who will enter the home, but she also did protect the home (kinda like a dog). Beside that, she always knewed, when someone from the family was comming home (we all did work in non-linear times) and was waiting infront of the doors - no matter what time it was. She always did sense a lot of things (like someone was sick, sad, had a bad day or had a lot on the mind). She often knewed how to react to something and either she came to that person (and she could scratch the door and meow like crazy all day, untill someone would let her in to that person) or she avoided that person for a day or two (or even the whole week if it was that serious). She always tried to let us know, when and what did she want or need - and even she quite often did know, what we were talking about (I guess by the time living with us, she also did learned some polish same as we did learn "catish", lol). Overall she loved to talk with people - you could just talk to her or meow, and she always responded in a very specific way, that you could learn by the time, which "meow" what means (same with some of her behaviours). For her last few years, she did start to act like an ass to people and quite foolish (kinda like dementia) - but she was actually acting. She knew exacly what she's doing or when she did something wrong (as always). She was caught on many things though her life - and trust me, she was smart enough to try to hide the evidences really often or acting like she doesn't know or have anything to do with that. Sometimes she was just seeking for more attention by doing this, another time it was "a completely random cat reason", even including revenge or laziness. When situation did calm, she always tried to check the situation and/or apologize a person, that she made mad. I've meet a lot of cats (same as other animals) in my life, but still... That cat was the smartest ones I've ever seen so far (and I didn't even mention 1/4 of things that made me think that way). Cats just likes to do everything their own way and have a really own personalities (just like people). Of course, all animals does have their own personality, but cats are something different - same as you'll meet a really smart dog. If you treat your pet nice - he will like you and will respect you as long as you are him. If you'll make your pet feel like a part of family - he will love you and try to understand you, same as you your pet.
I know, belly buttons are the most dirtiest thing around! Even if you clean it. I read about a study done on it and they found a lot of things undiscovered either bacteria or viruses, I forget. Yech!
