WOW! My sister sent this to me saying, “I listen to this song everyday.” Her vocals are incredible and so is the band. This is the kind of song and artist that makes you seek out more. 🙌
Incredible!! Beyond the fact that this song just sounds beautiful, the nerve that it takes to write a song like this is beyond impressive! This song is the definition of the power of music, taking your struggle, then owning It to the point that you're able to make your struggle understandable to others. This song is making the world a better place and that's saying something
This is terrific! Not only are Katie's vocals outstanding and clear, she's an excellent songwriter. Also love her song, "Out of the Blue." Can't wait to hear more from this artist!
Girl, i dont know if u read this things, but, if you do, let me tell you a thing: You have the most beautiful voice in the world. And even here at 8775 km i can feel the strong soul of the band.
Thanks to her video with Marcus King, I found Katie! The lyrics are just killer. The band is tight as foo and her voice - wow! Already trying to find her on tour. I am an old straight conservative republican white guy and I love this song and everything it stands for! So please don’t shun me when I join you in loving her music. Music this good should bring us all together.
For what it is worth this was the first recoding Katie released live into the world on Spotify. She’s grown so much since this but still so cool to see the songs she wrote years ago continue to resonate. Thank you for supporting Katie and independent music!
This is amazing. Thank you OurVjnyl for giving so many musicians a platform to be heard. Goodness gracious. I know I’m not the only one, But I appreciate y’all.
I'm so glad I found Katie what an amazing artist and all the pride with not a single apology in this song. Jesus christ, I am a fan. Wish she had more albums!!
Saw her on PBS and it brought me here. I'm so so in love with her voice and lyrics. Why oh why am I always on the late freight? Oh well, better late than never. You won my 💓 Katie.
God damn, I left Tidal to come leave this message, this song is banging! Your emotion, your lyrics and your voice! Brought tears to my eyes and moved me emotionally. I really give you praise for this song
Lyrics If loving her's a sin, I don't wanna go to heaven No there's nothing else up There I could need And if I'm sinning every day, I guess I'll sin all seven If I can still have her by the end of the week And if loving her's a drug, then I wanna be addicted Why would I get clean, when the high's this good? She says I'm the only one who can Hit It And all the other druggies just wish they could They wish they could You see I used to be ashamed To write a song that said her name 'Cause I was too afraid Of what they all might say But if loving her is wrong And it's not right to write this song Then I'm still not gonna stop And you can turn the damn thing off If loving her's a "Choice", she's all I'm gonna choose No way you could sway me in another's favor Some people choose Buddha or Jesus or booze But her body's my Temple and her Soul is my Savior You see I used to be ashamed To write a song that said her name 'Cause I was too afraid Of what they all might say But if loving her is wrong And it's not right to write this song Then I'm still not gonna stop And you can turn the damn thing off If loving her hurts, I'll keep on hurting If it means stayin' True to who I am You may not agree, but like me, you're learnin' That people don't like what they don't understand No people don't like what they don't understand And you can shake your head And you can clench your fists You can judge, hold a grudge You can just be pissed You can say it's wrong You can say a prayer While your doing that I'll be over there Loving her, loving her, loving her, loving her, Loving her, loving her
Amazing song! And I wonder if anyone could help with an answer: does the time signature of the song change every 2nd line in the verse? It feels like the 2nd part of every line in verse is in different signature. Feels rly cool, but I wonder how its done
You sweet beautiful angel - I must attest, you do not have to be "gay" to feel the entirety of your message or the love you invested in this record.. If these dayum fools can't enjoy your music w/o judgement - then to hell fur all'ovem
Absolutely without a doubt well sung and well played. But being a straight white man at 60, as open minded as my bohemian heart will allow me to be, Im really getting nauseated over the whole LGBT crap. Its old!! The message is out, if you want to be gay lesbian or even a jet airliner, just do it. Some people will applaud, some people will hate you, and many people just don't give a big rats ass. I'd much rather hear this band and that girls voice sing a positive note on love, soft and kind instead of the American mentality of I "have" to be a rebel. The hippies did that and look what they created, a drug culture that destroys the very essence of American life. I applaud the sound, the song sucks though, but to each their own...
Of course, we just do it. We exist. We are. But we need the representation. It doesn't hurt anyone, especially you as straight white man. It may seem like it's just "to each their own". But we're part of a community that's marginalised and I don't know if you live in a vacuum, but people are still killed, prosecuted, judged, discriminated against for being part of the community. The straights are so annoying to the point that they're the same that force people "to come out" (it's not a requirement to be gay or anything) and want us to be gay in the shadows. She has the right to sing about whatever she wants, especially if that represents others from a marginalised community. We need the visibility and representation. People try to erase us every day from everything.
I can't even describe how good this sounds! The vocals are insane, and the instruments goes so beautifully with it.
I agree with it.
Love Katie and what she stands for, being "her" period.
WOW! My sister sent this to me saying, “I listen to this song everyday.” Her vocals are incredible and so is the band. This is the kind of song and artist that makes you seek out more. 🙌
Thanks for watching! And thanks to your sister for introducing you to our friend Katie!
She's got the "it" factor. There's no doubt.
Damm, what a powerful song, what a powerful voice!!!
this is not even a genre of music I usually listen to but your voice just blows me away... you could make anything sound good
This is terrific! Not only are Katie's vocals outstanding and clear, she's an excellent songwriter. Also love her song, "Out of the Blue." Can't wait to hear more from this artist!
Came here after hearing a sound byte of this song on NPR. Just incredible!!! Keep singing!!

But I appreciate y’all.

I found your music on accident, listened to a few songs and just bought a ticket to one of your shows. Really, really good stuff.
As someone who went from catholic to evangelical and then an atheist lesbian, this song is everything. 🌈
Glad that this track resonated! Thanks for checking us out!
The songwriting, the playing, the singing AND the cinematography?? Amazingly done. Frequently come back to this vid
If you listen really closely, you can hear Jason Isbell wish he could write a song this good. Yup, this song is on that level.
You mean the straight man who wrote the first gay country song four decades after Lavender Country put out his album?
Just caught Katie opening for Neil Young two days ago. Basically her and a guitar. It was stellar.
Recently discovered her music and I'm obsessed. Us wlw could always use some good ole country songs

Listening to this, cruising down the memory lane! Gazing at the wonderful sunset. Thanks for this piece. Lovely voice btw!! 😍
You could have told me that was Brandi Carlile singing, and I wouldn't have questioned it.
Damn...same exact thing I thought...she’s legit! And you can tell she’s definitely been strongly influenced by Brandi....watch this one rise...
I heard this roll through on my Spotify account, and I'll be damned if I didn't say the same thing! I enjoy them both equally!
Brandi wishes she could hit some of the notes that Katie hits.
Even better when I saw her solo opening for Willie Watson.

Lyrics
If loving her's a sin, I don't wanna go to heaven
No there's nothing else up There I could need
And if I'm sinning every day, I guess I'll sin all seven
If I can still have her by the end of the week
And if loving her's a drug, then I wanna be addicted
Why would I get clean, when the high's this good?
She says I'm the only one who can Hit It
And all the other druggies just wish they could
They wish they could
You see I used to be ashamed
To write a song that said her name
'Cause I was too afraid
Of what they all might say
But if loving her is wrong
And it's not right to write this song
Then I'm still not gonna stop
And you can turn the damn thing off
If loving her's a "Choice", she's all I'm gonna choose
No way you could sway me in another's favor
Some people choose Buddha or Jesus or booze
But her body's my Temple and her Soul is my Savior
You see I used to be ashamed
To write a song that said her name
'Cause I was too afraid
Of what they all might say
But if loving her is wrong
And it's not right to write this song
Then I'm still not gonna stop
And you can turn the damn thing off
If loving her hurts, I'll keep on hurting
If it means stayin' True to who I am
You may not agree, but like me, you're learnin'
That people don't like what they don't understand
No people don't like what they don't understand
And you can shake your head
And you can clench your fists
You can judge, hold a grudge
You can just be pissed
You can say it's wrong
You can say a prayer
While your doing that
I'll be over there
Loving her, loving her, loving her, loving her,
Loving her, loving her
