For instance, I could not surpass 1 virtual monitor (2 monitors total = laptop screen + virtual monitor) when my laptop was unplugged, however as soon as it was plugged in I could surpass that and was able to have multiple virtual monitors running at once. This could be for a number of reasons: 1. insufficient power supply to graphics processor (GPU) - I was on very low battery when doing this testing.. 2. virtual monitor driver is rendering from your integrated graphics device (graphics built into some CPUs) rather than your dedicated graphics device (your actual GPU) (if you have both in your system) *[Virtual monitor and actual monitor merged into a single screen]* FIX 1: 1. Love Immersed, used it every day since I discovered it a couple weeks ago. I didn't realize you have to pay for virtual displays on it, but I've only used a couple extra ones and now I'm wondering if my free account has unlocked features for a limited time. Anyway, I was just looking for virtual monitors because the Immersed ones are buggy when you load in and out of Immersed or take headset on/off again.

Hey man! Thanks for your video. I was searching for split screen method with real virtual displays. And this is what I was searching for. What an underrated guide. You've do a god job to share this amazing application to us. PS: Now a beginner streamer like myself doesn't need to buy an extra monitor.
This is excellent, thank you. I use it to create a more common lower resolution display to share in Teams. This spares people what would otherwise be invisiprint from my LG two-up monitor. Similar goes for most types of sharing from hi to lo res. It eliminates the need to zoom your main display or otherwise tweak display content. This is worthy of PowerToy status.
Its working so far with steam link, I defined a custom resolution so steam link streams the size of my phone which is 2340x1080. Will do more testing. Update: games are working correctly using this new screen. There is a bit of lag with mouse cursor where the real cursor seems to trail behind the cursor in steam link, but it does not affect input. I was initially worried that games might not be able to utilize the GPU if using this screen, but it was not the case and performance is indistinguishable from native screen.
WARNING! Never select show on screen 2 only in the display settings without a remote desktop app that can stream the screen 2 display. Your physical screen 1 will not display anything and there will be no way to see your actions. I was lucky that steam was on so I can use steam link to go to settings and revert. If i didn't have steam running at the time, I would've probably have to boot Windows PE to disable the virtual screen from there.

Really cool. So, in theory, you could use a virtual display like that to run a second instance of a game using a tool like Nucleus Co-op, and then you could stream the content of the virtual display using Parsec. That way, you could play co-op with a remote friend over the internet using your computer to run both instances of the game, if the other person doesn't have a PC capable of running games. I think that could work, I have done something like that, but I used 2 real displays so each player could have fullscreen gameplay.

I was hoping that your tutorial would help me, however it did not, i manged to do it, but what i got was a virtual monitor on my settings, i set up both of them at half horizontal and full vertical resolution but what i then had was just 1 screen in the center of my monitor and the rest being black bars left and right. What i am looking for is for a solution that i am running 2 desktops at 1 computer side by side like i had if i used 2 seperate monitors with 2 cables from my graphic card. I do not want to use any splitter or task bar app since it does not help me when i open a game, a full window application since it would be just the full windows. I appreciate this tutorial! Curious if you know if there is a different command or process I could do to split one monitor into two, virtually through windows. So example an ultrawide would be a standard 16:9 instead of 21:9 and you'd have an extra 5:9 display. The monitor displaying both as it's still just a single screen. But then when I'd go full screen youtube I'd only be in that virtual 16:9 section and leave the 5:9 open for other tasks.

The command to add a new virtual display is below. You can just trigger that to run on startup: IF %PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE%==AMD64 cmd /c deviceinstaller64.exe enableidd 1
How can I customize the virtual display's specs? For example, raising the refresh rate beyond 60, or setting a resolution other than what Windows provides?
Thank you so much for your video. However, how can I view the second display on the monitor? Is there a way to switch between displays with just one click? I intend to use this for video editing. Thank you in advance for your response.
Hi I followed the instructions and 2nd (virtual) monitor appeared and allowed me to increase resolution but didn't appear to then accept changes so I thought I had to restart computer which I did but second monitor disappeared?. I redid the whole procedure again and was able to get second monitor back again but when I choose the second monitor with the increased resolution it didn't change anything and screen stayed same size. I restarted computer again and second monitor disappeared again ? are you able to provide any guidance ? many thanks Des

Useful, thank you!
How can I customize the virtual display's specs? For example, raising the refresh rate beyond 60, or setting a resolution other than what Windows provides?
This was very useful. Thanks for doing this tutorial.
Thank you so much for your video. However, how can I view the second display on the monitor? Is there a way to switch between displays with just one click? I intend to use this for video editing. Thank you in advance for your response.

Can it add a custom resolution of 2880 * 1800 to fit macbook pro retina resolution?
Hi I followed the instructions and 2nd (virtual) monitor appeared and allowed me to increase resolution but didn't appear to then accept changes so I thought I had to restart computer which I did but second monitor disappeared?. I redid the whole procedure again and was able to get second monitor back again but when I choose the second monitor with the increased resolution it didn't change anything and screen stayed same size. I restarted computer again and second monitor disappeared again ? are you able to provide any guidance ? many thanks Des
