- You have a Sony Bravia TV (non Android TV) and you are trying connect your Android phone (In this video am using a Samsung Galaxy note 20 Ultra) using smart view or Samsung DEX and its says connecting then just disconnects then i show you how to fix this. After days of troubleshooting i finally found it was the wifi-direct settings on the Sony Bravia TV that was Off. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, some additional steps may be needed for some TV.
Did the steps mentioned, still not connect and my tablet keep scanning.
Then I press the "Input" on the remote, and scrolled to "Screen Mirror" .
Next on my tablet "Cast" while it still scanning, I tap the "gear" (option/setting) . In the page, the TV is listed. Tap on the TV name, and it finally able to mirror the screen onto my Sony TV after few years of trying!

Thanks. I first opened wi fi direct. Logined my phone to the tvs wi fi direct. (I checked the password inside the tv.) Then I login my phone to my home’s wifi. Rebooted the tv by ac on off. Rebooted my phone. Then it started working without 3rd party app via smart view. (Phone samsung a55)

I don't know why exactly but I found my wifi direct to be turned on and it still didn't work. I turned the wifi direct off and that's when it worked lol thank you for helping me solve it
My Bravia is nothing like your settings. Is your TV old or does Sony constantly change their setting arrangements?
You're a legend. Abit of a weird one with my one tho as my WiFi (connect) was already on. So I toggled it off and on again and cleared my connected devices on my TV and it's working! After 6 months why couldn't I find this sooner 😂. Thank you
That still didn't work for me, but ur comment made me think, what if I deleted All registered devices on my TV. Did that and connected immediately! So ty. Lol.
Fail. My Bravia XBR-49X950H does not have an 'on' or 'off' feature for WiFi Direct.

In order to get the toggle you have to go into pro mode. To get into pro mode press the display mute volume up and home buttons. If that doesn't work then try i+ mute volume up and home. Tv should restart. Go back into settings you should see a new option at the top saying pro mode. Ignore that for now. Go back into the WiFi direct setting and the toggle should now be there to turn it on. One done go into the new pro mode settings option then click on change to normal mode (this gets you out of pro mode). Tv should re start back to normal again. Then try screen mirroring again.

My tv (sony bravia 2020) connects to my samsung phone, my phone connects to the tv. Tv says it's connected via wifi direct but that's all it does. No phone screen on tv screen, no mirroring option in inputs section, only tv, hdmi and airplay that does nothing as I am not connected to wifi at home. So in short, devices connect together, but don't mirror. Phone tells me to turn off tv or unplug.
If its an Android TV its because it doesnt support screen mirroring, this feature was removed from the 2020 models

@@Civilmonkey1 i dunno i had a quick look into but couldnt find a reason. Anyways i found out a while ago that you can still screen mirror using the google home app. Your TV must have chromecast though it wont work if it has miracast the reason this works is because it doesnt rely on the sony screen mirroring app which still exists btw its just disabled. You can enable it with the command line but it never connects so i think they killed the service.
The resolution while mirroring with Google Home is shocking though any text is blurry and unreadable. Heres a link to Sony saying mirroring was removed they offer some altenative (crappy) methods, but im just sharing the link so people have proof it was removed rather than just taking my word for it. www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00044548

U have an older TV. I have Bravia 4K VH2 and the option to turn on/off Wi-Fi Direct is not there. When I highlight WiFi Direct I'm only given 2 option. Wi-Fi Direct Settings & Show device list/delete. My TV will not show up on my phone unless I got into the Wi-Fi Direct Settings and when it does that it turns off the Wi-Fi. Then when I press connect it will say connected without internet but doesn't mirror my phone

I bought a new to me xbr55 x850c. I did have to put a power board in this TV but screen mirroring used to work as I was able to watch stuff from my phone onto the tv. For some reason now, it will not work anymore. I can view the TV, I can click connect device and start now. The TV recognizes that a Wi-Fi device is connected to it. But then after about 15 to 20 seconds the top right of the screen shows Wi-Fi connection off. And then I have to restart the process. My phone will no longer screen mirror to the tv. I've already checked my Wi-Fi Direct settings and I've also turned Bluetooth off. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my phone to screen mirror anymore on this TV. My phone screen mirrors on my other TV perfectly well

This doesn't work for X900h and Samsung s21. Enabling wifi direct allowed me to find the TV, but when I would try to connect, the phone popped up a message to turn off wifi direct....

@@erayalc4827 and still works now? I just updated my tv and reset my phone still no luck. I saw somewhere the smart view feature got killed but was still able to access meaning it would never work🤦🏻♂️
@@JAS-dw2yc Actually i found a way. I simply select the picture or video in my gallery, smart view icon appears on my upper screen and awkwardly i can access smart view. But with this way i can't mirror my whole screen just pictures and videos in my gallery

I hope this works mine is doing same exact thing, only difference is I started out able to use my screen mirroring or Wi-Fi direct and then towards the end of a movie it went blank and wasn't able to connect back to it it kept showing up and then disappearing like yours did

My 55x7577H with Android 9 doesn't have Wi-Fi Direct option, despite it has this feature in the specs., also my Android 8 tab. can connect to my TV using Smart View, but my Android 10 phone can't !!!!

I'm unable to connect my Samsung Galaxy S9 with my Sony Bravia TV KDL-48W700C after so many attempts. The TV SSID is detected on mobile and it tries to connect once I click it and goes off in few seconds. I click again and no connection request appears on tv screen. This used to work fine before not sure what has happened now.
1.Switched on/off wifi and wifi direct options in TV
2. Restarted phone and TV several times
3. Cleared the smart view cache in phone
4. No new software updates available for phone and TV.

I tried everything in this and other videos, and nothing worked for me. Then, I connected the TV and phone to another wifi network and it worked just fine! So, if nothing works for you, try to simply change your wifi name (it is what i did) and maybe that solve your problem 🙌
My tv doesn't even show up on smart view on my tablet, but with bluetooth it does and i can pair
This wasnt the problem I was experiencing..however.. my phone wasnt connected bc I was using the Firestick remote to try and click 'accept' to allow my device to mirror.. you need to use the TV remote to accept.. dont laugh @ me😑🙄🤣🤣🤣

It's so weird, I had no problem before screen mirroring my galaxy phone to Sony TV, but now after trying so many times, it does not work anymore... no matter how many times I restarted the TV or phone. I don't know why 😢

@@JAS-dw2yc bro I tried a 3rd party casting app from play store. It was able to detect the TV when connected to the same wifi network. So now I'm just able to cast my media files to TV.

@@JAS-dw2yc I've tried different brands of phones. None of them detected the TV.
Earlier the screen mirroring function in the TV used to work without connecting the TV to the wifi network.
But Now the 3rd party app uses DLNA technology and both of them(mobile and TV) have to be connected to the same wifi.
Apps having inbuilt cast feature like UA-cam,detects the TV. But normal screen mirroring option in phones doesn't detect it.

Smart view does not use home wifi network… it’s a Wi-Fi Direct connection so no need internet.
