Just how important are the first four commandments and do they all apply to New Covenant believers?

    • @andrewoverholser491
      @andrewoverholser491 3 роки тому +31

I believe they do apply to NT believers. Same God. These commandments will not save you apart from Gods saving grace in Christ and Christ is the fulfillment of the Law. When you die to sin you don’t continue sinning, however, because how could you if you’re truly born again? You won’t. You will in a sense automatically follow these commands because the Holy Spirit living inside does not sin and would not sin.
It is not required to follow the Law because of a Christ, however, if you love Christ you will follow them because of the indwelling of the Spirit and living a truly Spirit-led life. Struggling with sin is prior to being born again. In my view, this is where so many miss the point. We think we can be saved while still sinning and we justify it by stating “we are no longer under the law.” We still have to be holy before God and endure to the end, but how can we do this while still sinning? This needs to be meditated on because so many are confused, but once the Spirit lives and resides in you, then it makes sense to follow the commands simply because it is not you living it out, but the Spirit.

We were raised to do Sun but we are going back to YAH’s calendar 🗓 ❤…… a quick update . It’s 11/23/24 and I’m now keeping the Sabbath from evening to evening where TMH put his name (Mt Zion). Whatever time zone you’re in , you change it to that. That way all around the world we are keeping it at the same together.

I work in OR, United States. I was told today, my 6th meeting, at work that I can't take the entire day off. I told them I choose God first and he will provide for me. I am obeying the 4th commandment. They said your attendance has been perfect before mandatory Sundays. It will count as "missed attendance days" and I said, "I understand and I understand the implications of a missed day." I will soon be fired for obeying the lords commandments but I know God says he who loves me will abide in my commandments. I will not kneel before this world any longer...i've failed for 12 years after coming to God and i am not lukewarm. Please pray for me the more the better! our prayers are great in numbers! • @tracyb1222
      @tracyb1222 Рік тому +2

@williamward9278 You're mixing rest with Sabbath. The rest in Matt 11:28 is not the same as keeping the Sabbath. Look at the Hebrew and Greek translation of both. Also, the Acts 20:7 did not indicate the Sabbath was changed or there's a new day of worship, or a new sanctified day or remembering who our creator is. You really need to study this topic more as well as history which shows the 1st century Christians were not confused about the Sabbath until Rome started making changes.

    • @tracyb1222
      @tracyb1222 Рік тому +2

@williamward9278 you do realize the disciples were Jews so you're saying they just started worshiping on the 1st day of the week without any specific command from Jesus. Read Hebrew 4 and please explain where you find the 1st day as the new day of worship or rest? The early Christians ceased from their work and rested on the Sabbath.
The hatred between the Jews and Gentiles caused the early Christians to change things to avoid being associated with the Jews... that's antisemitism, but we don't have a problem with a Jew converting to Christianity and continuing in their Sabbath observance. What empire was in power during the 1st century? Who was the church? Who added new customs? Where did protestantism come from? Once you see the link you will see how things started changing and we adopted so many customs from the Church of Rome into our churches and think nothing of it.

@williamward9278 Acts 20 says they gathered to eat. Havdalah is the meal that marks the end of the Sabbath. That is why they gathered. That is what it says.
Paul did some preaching because he was leaving the next day. This was NOT a gathering intended to replace the Sabbath. Observance of the Sabbath is one of the most repeated Commandments.
John 20 says that Mary arrived at the tomb while it was still dark and Jesus was already gone.
      He rose on the Sabbath.
Don't believe the lies from Rome.
Loving YHVH is keeping his Commandments. If a person doesn't love him, they choose to not obey him.
The one we obey is the one we serve. Romans 6:15-16

I’ve learned the hard way that rest is God’s commandment. When we don’t obey, we suffer. God has created a rhythm - every 6 days, 1 day of rest. And every few days, there were feasts like Passover where people rested for 7 days. The problem is that most christians don’t have a day to rest. It’s awesome to be at church in Sunday, we rest in the Lord but our minds are constantly working. A half day of rest is not the same as a whole day rest. After burning out I’ve learned that we should try to take another day to rest, like saturday or a day of the week if possible. Personally I love saturdays because I believe there is something special about them, it was the original day of rest, and God loves saturdays too, but I don’t like to put too much pressure on this exact day. The important thing is just to rest a whole day. A day to do literally nothing. A day where my time with God doesn’t need to come to an end fast. A day to spend happy times with family without needing to stop to get ready for something. Maybe go on a one day trip. Permitting ourselves to feel tedious, it’s a good thing for our brains that are constantly working. There are many researches that prove that one day of rest in the week is for our own good. Well, the Bible has already told us that a long time ago

Sarah, the important thing is to do what God says: Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

James says that we cannot keep some of the Commandments and not others (James 2: 10-12 and Deut, 4:2). On the basis that Messiah told us to keep the Father's Commandments if we are to enter into eternal life -Matt, 19:17, Luke 10:28. He says, "the Word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day" (Jn. 12:48). For this same reason, Paul says to keep the Commandment "without spot, blameless" (1 Tim. 6:13-14)

@@Phushprada1 "six days shall you labour, but the seventh day is Sabbath unto the LORD God, for on the seventh day God rested from all the work that He had done." "Sun"-day is the FIRST day of the working week, and the Sabbath is on the SEVENTH, now renamed by the Gentiles in honour of the god Saturn ("Saturday"), and on the First Day God began His WORK of creation.
Of course very few Christians nowadays heed God's words on "six days shall you labour," preferring to work only 5 instead! Thus they use the term "weekend" to describe "Saturday" (Shabbat) and "Sun"-day, when they themselves preach that "Sunday" is the FIRST day of the week, so it cannot be at the "end"! In Israel the "weekend" follows the Biblical pattern of "Friday" night (Sabbath Eve) and "Saturday" day time (the Sabbath), rather than including "Sun"-day from the week's beginning. In Genesis 1:5 the evening and the morning were the first day, not morning followed by evening as most Gentiles have changed it to, but God puts the evening first, which is why the Sabbath starts in the evening at sunset on "Friday" ("Sixth Day") and not half-way through the dark period at "mid-night" as the Gentiles do, as God said that the lights in the sky (sun and moon) were to divide the days, the sunset being the dividing point.
I hope this is somewhat helpful and not too confusing, and that I don't offend any Gentiles out there who insist on following the Roman calendar changed by Pope Gregory XIII instead of God.

This being the case, all of the people on this post who are judging their brothers and sisters in Christ who keep Sunday, rather than Saturday, should consider whether they are falling into the trap of legalism or not. They might also consider whether or not, trying to keep this particular point of the law, they are guilty of violating the whole law. Similarly, they might consider that the Council at Jerusalem laid no injunction on gentiles regarding feasts, new moons and sabbaths. I do not say that those who feel it is laid on them to keep the Saturday sabbath are wrong. But do they allow their brothers and sisters in Christ the same freedom given that the New Testament is seemingly silent on the issue as regards gentile believers? The commandants are clear and really leave no other interpretation. However, the argument for a Sunday Sabbath is not clearly stated nor “commanded” in the Bible. No, he does not. With all of his information he REFUSES to accept that/ see that because Jesus rose on The 1st day of the week that , it did not change God‘s law.... From Genesis to Revelation there is no change in the Seventh day the Sabbath; it still is the seventh day of the week Saturday NOT first day of the week Sunday. There is not one verse in scripture that admonishes a Christian to go to church on Sunday but over 55 verses that point to the seventh day Sabbath which is the Saturday Sabbath Observance for corporate worship.
    JESUS IS CLEAR:
Not that I come to destroy the law or the profits I THINK NOT have not come to destroy but to fULFIL. . For verily I say unto you till heaven and earth pass one jolt or one tittle shall IN NO WISE passed from the law till all be fulfilled.........

But, But earlier in the same books Acts 2:46 you find them getting together because that is something that they did( daily) .. this was nothing new.
There is no command that says now the new Day of worship is the first day of the week Sunday. God doesn’t change. what he created blessed and sanctified in genesis 2 ( The Seventh Day Sabbath) with the creation of the Sabbath still stands today
as heaven and earth’s constitution. UNCHANGED!!
Somebody anybody show me ONE scripture in the Bible that says GOD 👈🏽 changed HIS seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week. I’ll be waiting.
While you’re looking , consider the warning God has already given us.Daniel 7:25 and he shall speak great words against the most high, and shall wear out the saints of the most high AND THINK TO CHANGE TIMES AND LAWS: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Voddie has adopted the Roman catholic system of worship as the Roman Catholics ( specifically ) Constantine in 321 A.D. changed God‘s law from the seventh day Sabbath to the first day of the week. Voddie is just consciously or unconsciously a part of this tradition.
But Revelation 12:17 describes a REMNANT people who practice keeping the Commandments of God and having the testimony of Jesus. This group of people have two (unmistakable characteristics) that make them the REMNANT. “All others who claim to be THE REMNANT and not DO what the Scripture says... I DONT KNOW...

It appears we rest first then we work. Sabbatarian's would have us believe we work first to enter rest. Rest is a gift and it is God who works in each of us. What a beautiful picture that Adam and Eve were to keep and work the garden and would not have labored hard as God caused it to grow and flourish. Upon their trespass their labors were to be fruitless, laboring, eat bread by the sweat of their brow. The two covenants reveal the beginning very well. The law produces death it increases the trespass and does not give rest. Jesus gives us rest from our toils and labors and God produces the fruit. Jesus is our bread, no sweat required.

Just look at what all must be false in order to support your sabbatarian doctrine:
For all that Adventists and other sabbatarian's spout off about keeping the Law, its amazing how much of the Bible they or you, miss out on.
(of course these are not false but to make a point lets say "has to be false"
      - Galatians 3:19, 23-26 has to be false. If The Law is indeed eternal, it couldn't have been added at any point like Paul said. It also could not have been to last until Christ like He said too. The Law cannot be our tutor to lead us to Christ. And once we have Christ, we need the Law more than ever! This whole passage has to be false!
      - Romans 10:4 has to be false. If the Law is indeed eternal, then Christ cannot be the end of the law.
      - Deuteronomy 5:2, 3 has to be false. Moses had to have been lying when he said that the Ten Commandments were not given to their ancestors.
      - 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 has to be false. Paul could not have been talking about the Ten Commandments here, since they are eternal. Something else must have been etched on stone that caused death and condemnation. Since the Ten Commandments must be eternal, they must be what gives life. The New Covenant cannot be far greater than the Old. Also, the glory of the Ten Commandments could not have been fading since they are eternal. Reading the Law does not put a veil over my face that is removed by the Gospel. The whole passage has to be false.
      - Romans 1:17 has to be false. Paul could not have meant what he said about being made right by faith. Apparently, since our keeping the Ten Commandments is so important to God, we can be made right with Him by keeping them.
      - Romans 8:1-4 has to be false. Since the Law is so important to God, then if we break them, it brings condemnation upon us. So therefore there IS condemnation available for those in Christ. Paul must be lying. In addition, he must be lying about the part where he says that Christ fulfilled the requirements of the Law for us. i guess Jesus did it for Himself and then gave us the power to do it and said, "here good luck", instead of doing it for us.
      - Jeremiah 31:31-34 must be false. Apparently God could not have made a new covenant that was not like the old. Since the first covenant was based on Ten Commandments, and those are eternal, then it cannot be feasible for there to be a completely new one. (New implying that it is brand new, not renewed, not having any aspect of old. That is unless the word "new" doesn't really mean "new". I've already found out that "for us" doesn't really mean that either. Bible's tricky like that.)
I just CANNOT bring myself to believe that Paul could be such a liar. Praise God that the Bible really does mean what it says!

@@terrygreenman1540 This is why it is said by these same apostles, "Let every man be called a liar and God be true." If you accept what what man says over and above what God says, you won't understand what man is trying to say. Do not start with "What does Paul say" but rather "What does God say" because you know what, at the end of the day, Paul doesn't have a heaven, God does. What I mean is not that Paul won't go to heaven, no. What I am saying is Paul did not create Heaven and the conditions to enter it, God did. It is His and He has final say. If He says keep My commandments, then He means keep My commandments. whether you understand Paul or you don't, Just do what God says. The term "Thus says the Lord, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" is quite the powerful statement. Let us, as people being grafted into the covenant promise promised to the Israelites first, obey the God of Israel. Not this current Israel but the Israel of the Bible.

That is the order of things. You rest after you have worked. That is principle. No confusion there. God modelled that out for us. He created first, which to Him is work, and then rested on the seventh day. It's simple and easy. If we are His children, we follow that same pattern. You know? Walking in your Father's footsteps, although this Father has quite the footstep we can't actually fit our own feet in, but we make sure each foot is in the footstep of our Father who has shown us how we are supposed to live. Thank God He came in human form to model that, walking the law, to us.
And you have contradicted yourself. Paul has clearly said he planted, Apollos watered. That is work. God then takes care of the rest AFTER we work. Remember what Jesus said. If you do not work, you should not eat.

@@OkayMaybeImDoneNow... I take it with your name that is not too Jewish. DO you not read that the Old Covenant was not given to mankind. Your the one that contradicts oneself. The Ten Commandments , which includes the fourth commandment to remember to keep the seventh day holy, were given to Israel, not to us Gentiles. This means only Israel can break the Law. This is why salvation is only of the Jews .
The Ten Commandments were unique to Israel
When Moses recited the laws given at Mount Sinai, he said, "Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you may learn them and be careful to observe them. The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. The LORD did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive" (Deuteronomy 5:1-3). Immediately following this statement are the Ten Commandments and the rest of God's laws for Israel. Notice that Moses said that these laws, including the Ten Commandments, did not exist prior to Israel's arrival at Mount Sinai and that the laws were given to Israel. Now, in case you are among those who try to play word games and object by say "Moses was talking about the covenant, not the Ten Commandments;" turn back to Deuteronomy 4:13, "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone." The Ten Commandments is the summary of the covenant God made with Israel.
You can find nine of the ten commandments in the New Testament. They are not neatly listed as they were in Moses' Law, but the rules still exist. The only one not found in the New Testament is the commandment concerning the Sabbath day. Such shouldn't be surprising. Of the Ten Commandments, the command concerning the Sabbath day was uniquely significant to the people of Israel. "And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the LORD your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day" (Deuteronomy 5:15). By the way, this quote is taken from the recitation of the Ten Commandments. While Israel experienced slavery in Egypt and a day of rest was a fitting memorial of their past suffering, such cannot be said for the rest of the nations.
Paul stated that the Gentiles benefited from Jesus' death. "And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross" (Colossians 2:13-14). It was the Ten Commandments which were written by the hand of God on tablets of stone. In another letter Paul wrote, "clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. ... who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?" (II Corinthians 3:3, 6-8). Hence, if Christians who grew up as Jews wanted to observe festivals from the Old Law, that was fine for them. However, they could not apply their desires on their Gentile brethren. Speaking to the Gentile Christians, Paul said "So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ" (Colossians 2:16-17). Gentiles had no reason to keep the old laws of food, drink, festivals, or sabbaths; such were observed by Jews. The provisions of the Old Law were merely a shadow of the reality of Christ's law and as such were nailed to the Cross. But notice that one of the laws named is the observance of the Sabbath. Not all of the Ten Commandments were carried over into the law of Christ.

@@OkayMaybeImDoneNow... I would also add that the Old Testament does not distinguish IN TERMS OF HOLINESS among (1) yearly festival sabbaths, (2) monthly (new moon) festival sabbaths, and (3) the weekly *festival sabbath. And so, I would agree that that Romans 14 INCLUDES -- but does not LIMIT its message to -- the yearly festival sabbaths.
*The weekly sabbath was NO LESS a festival (feast day/ceremonial day) than any of the others. It was, for instance, considered a sin to fast on the sabbath, ANY sabbath (weekly, monthly or yearly). You had to fast on another day.
      My reasons for this conclusion:
      1. Paul would have no motive to limit his instruction to the yearly sabbaths as distinguished (cut off) from the others. For, IN NO INSTANCE does the Old Testament (the only "Scripture" of Paul's day) distinguish among them in terms of holiness -- need to rest and "to not do ANY work." They are "all of a piece," and if one goes, they ALL go. Therefore, in an extremely important sense, Paul here is giving them their due "sendoff."
      2. The yearly and monthly sabbaths were never an issue APART from the weekly sabbath. Nor apart from circumcision, or clean v. unclean meats, for that matter. Not to mention the full 613 laws, such as "no wearing a cloak of mixed linen and wool [Deuteronomy 22:11]." It was "the whole ball of wax," "the whole enchilada," "the whole nine yards" that was at issue, nothing less.
You either kept the whole "law of 613 laws" as a way to salvation or you considered all 613 as fulfilled in Christ.
      3. Romans 14 is interesting in that there Paul allowed for people to keep the seventh day Sabbath holy, the new moon Sabbath days holy, and the yearly festival Sabbath days holy.
Conversely you could keep the first day holy, which was also considered the Resurrection day and the "Lord's day," SDA arguments to the contrary notwithstanding (considering the usage of the term "the Lord's day" in the writings of the early church fathers, who were NOT, incidentally, Roman Catholics).
Or you could keep all 7 days holy, all 30-31 days of the month holy (Roman calendar, Hebrew calendar, who cares?), and all 365 days of the year holy.
Do you see how clever Paul was (in the Spirit)? He effectively destroyed the seventh-day Sabbath AS A TEST of righteousness by ALLOWING Jewish Christians (the SDA's of his time) to keep it. At the same time he effectively DENIED them the right to IMPOSE the weekly Sabbath (along with the monthly and yearly Sabbaths) on the Gentile Christians in Rome and, indeed, all over the Empire.
In order to argue as you do, one has to be totally ignorant of the contextual evidence as well as the circumstantial evidence (political, economic, social, racial, religious, educational climate, etc.) of the time and place. Plus to accommodate such SDA reasoning -- and by NO means do all SDAs reason this way -- one has to twist one's brain into a pretzel.

Dateline 28-30AD, Judea. Accounts from official correspondents Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have now confirmed early rumors that God-on-Earth from Galilee has utterly smashed the 1500+-year-old Jewish law proscribing work on the Sabbath.
If judicial, ecclesiastical, prophetic and royal annals are correct, it is HIS OWN STATEMENT of the law "written with HIS OWN FINGER on two tablets of stone" that He Himself has now smashed to bits.
Reports are that God-on-Earth is to be arrested and indicted by temple and Sanhedrin authorities on the following counts:
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #1. Permitting His disciples to REAP grain on the Sabbath and defending their conduct to the Sabbath police. Luke 6:1-5. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Agricultural.
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #2. Permitting His disciples to THRESH grain on the Sabbath and defending their conduct to the religious police. Luke 6:1-5. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Light industrial (food processing).
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #3. Allowing Simon Peters mother-in-law to "WAIT ON" Him on the Sabbath. Matthew 8:14. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Domestic (waiting tables and chairs).
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #4. Commanding a man allegedly invalid 38 years to LIFT his bed on the Sabbath. John 5:1-30. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Light industrial (lifting and loading).
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #5. Commanding a man allegedly invalid 38 years to CARRY his bed on the Sabbath. John 5:1-30. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Light industrial (transportation).
Indictment-and-Arrest Count #6. MIXING spittle and clay to form a poultice to place on the eyes of a man allegedly born blind on the Sabbath. John 9:1-41. Type of Sabbath-day work prohibited: Light industrial (pharmaceutical).
Jewish government officials refuse to return inquiries as to plans for prosecution and trial. But unsubstantiated bulletins have arrived reporting are that they are holding these charges in abeyance while waiting to apprehend God-on-Earth without bail for a much more serious offense, one requiring the death penalty.
What the nature of this allegedly much more heinous crime is and any further news will be broadcast as soon as it becomes available.
      Stay tuned,

I tried to write a fairly concise argument about the Sabbath in the New Covenant. What does the New Testament teaches about the Sabbath?
Hebrews 7:11 Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? 12 For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well....
18 For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness 19 (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
There is a change in the Law. Do all Sabbatarian's acknowledge that there is a change, or are they going to insist that "until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law"
For those who are unaware, when Sabbatarrian's quote what I did above about the Law, which they routinely do, they leave off the rest of the verse of Matthew 5:18. Here is the entire verse
"18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished."
Hebrews makes it clear that some bits of the Law have passed away. Unless Jesus lied to us, we must then conclude that "all is accomplished" now.
The real question isn't whether the Law has changed, but what has changed in the Law, and how we can determine from the NT teachings what is the same or different now that "all is accomplished".
So what about the Sabbath in these Laws of the New Covenant.
    Hebrews 4:9 tells us
"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God."
Does that settle it, is the 7th Day Sabbath continued from the Old Covenant into the New? Only if you refuse to read the Bible within the immediate literary context. The two verses that occur immediately before
"7 again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted, “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on."
God appointed a Sabbath in the New Covenant, it is a "certain day" and "another day"--"Today"! We no longer need to wait until the end of the week to enter the Sabbath rest. We can enter that rest TODAY, according to Scripture. And we can enter a Sabbath rest that is like God's original Sabbath rest, a rest that continues on forever. Because when God rested from His work of creation at the end of the 6th Day, He did not start back up again after 24 hours of rest. He was finished working. And the next verse in Hebrews 4 explains how we enter a rest that is just like God's rest from creation,
vs 10 "for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from His."
The Sabbath exists in the New Covenant, but it is no longer part of 7 day cycle of work ending in a day of rest. Rather it is a perpetual rest that we enter once and remain.
You have to go to Jesus to get this...In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus says: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”.

The 10 Commandments will never pass. Because they define God‘s character. Revelation says that we will go and worship God on every Sabbath. If it were nailed to the cross does he take the nail back out?

@@bygodsgrace86foreverandeve11 I think of the Ten Commandment law as good, but still inferior to the Christ who used Moses to give it to Israel.
Let's read a passage of Scripture while substituting the term "the Ten Commandment law" for the term "Moses." We can justify such an exercise, at least for learning purposes, because the New Testament often uses the term "Moses" interchangeably with the term "the law." Example (Mark 7:10 NIV) quoting Jesus: "For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother.'" One can thus, without doing violence to the text, translate this as, "For the law said, 'Honor your father and your mother.'"
Now let's do it with Hebrews 3:1-6 (NIV):
"Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as the Ten Commandment law was faithful in all God's house. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than the Ten Commandment law, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. The Ten Commandment law was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house."
Thus the "law of Christ" can indeed replace the entire Ten Commandment law in every way, even morally and especially morally, because it is superior in every way, even morally and especially morally.
For example, because Jesus was "Lord of the Sabbath" (Matthew 12:8), He could break the Sabbath (John 5:18) and command others to do so as well (John 5:11).
Notice also that "the house" analogy still holds: Jesus and His New Testament commandments are superior to Moses and his Old Testament commandments just as the builder of the house is superior to the house itself.

Not quite. The word "ordnance" means "law," and so your rendering would mean "laws of laws," which is a tautology and therefore meaningless. And in fact it's not what the text says.
It says, "the written code, with its regulations," meaning a code or "bundle" of laws. The term 'written code' was "a business term, meaning a certificate of indebtedness in the debtor's handwriting. Paul uses it as a designation for the Mosaic law, with all its regulations, under which everyone is a debtor to God." NIV text note for Col. 2:14.
The whole enchilada! Including "thou shalt not murder," "thou shalt not commit adultery," and "remember to keep the Sabbath day holy." The whole nine yards!
And not just the Ten Commandments either, but all the little picky rules, such as "no pork" and "don't cut the hair at the sides of your head" and "don't wear flax mixed with wool clothing." Everything.
And not only that, but the Bible doesn't -- and the Jews didn't and still don't today -- distinguish between "ceremonial laws of types & shadows" and the moral law! There is absolutely zero scriptural support for any such dichotomy! I notice that you didn't volunteer any, and if you can find some I'd love to see it brought here into this Discussion.

The thing many people don't understand about the Sabbath is the very same thing I get from Sabbath-keeping Christians. Jesus touched on it when he taught about lust. He said that if you look upon a woman with lust, you have already committed adultery with her in your heart. Jesus also said that if you call your brother a fool, you are in danger of hellfire. That is because you have committed as close to murder as possible in your heart. Jesus has taught that to keep the commandments from the heart as a motive for the actions of a person. This is what Israel failed to learn. They kept the laws as dos and don't, laws written on the stone tablets of the heart. Under the New Testament/New Covenant these same laws are written on the fleshly tablets of our hearts. Back to the Sabbath, the biggest lesson is that it teaches to rest from your work amount other lessons. But rest is the major lesson here. Every Christian that puts Jesus as Lord of their life is functioning in this Sabbath rest and doesn't even realize it. Your salvation is based on His life, His strips, His death, His resurrection, and most of all, His finished works. We have entered into the rest that Israel failed to enter into. Try to earn your salvation through your own works. In doing so, you have introduced another way to the Father and made Jesus a liar. Jesus is the only way to the father. and Sabbath represents that you are doing just that, Making Jesus the only way to the Father. Most of you don't even know it. That's the awesomeness of God at work. Praise God without bounds.

That’s right. Jesus is our rest. Colossians 2:13-17 we were dead in our sins but God made us alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having concealed the written code, took it away nailing it to the cross. Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things to come; the reality however, is found in Christ. The commandment to observe the Sabbath is the only one of the ten not repeated after Pentecost.

My ways are not your ways as your ways are not my ways. The purpose is to understand. With all thy getting get understanding, Psalm4:7. “First, we start with the intelligence with which we were born. To our intelligence we add knowledge as we search for answers, study, and educate ourselves. To our knowledge we add experience, which should lead us to a level of wisdom. In addition to our wisdom, we add the help of the Holy Ghost through our prayers of faith, asking for spiritual guidance and strength. Then, and only then, do we reach an understanding in our hearts-which motivates us to ‘do what is right; let the consequence follow.’ (Hymns, 1985, no. 237.) The feelings of an understanding heart give us the sweet spirit of assurance of not only knowing but doing what is right no matter what the circumstances. The understanding in our hearts comes from a close interdependence of study and prayer.” By Elder Gary E. Stevenson
I was raised Catholic. I sought answers from the church and was never given understanding yet alone answers. Fast forward am I'm now 45 questioning the same stuff because of man. Prior to Covid, my husband and I decided to dig in our heals and be open to learning and understanding our Holy Scriptures. I do feel as though I was led to a Seventh Day Adventist Church because I recognized and immediately was drawn to the Sabbath. We did a 1 year bible study with a SDA Pastor and learned so much. But I was left with a bit of a sour taste on a few occasions, such as learning why he didn't wear a wedding band and a few mentions of this Prophetess, Mrs. White. For me, humbly, Man has done nothing but analyze the words of a Holy Creator they can't possibly try to understand because that's how sin separates us from the Lord and one another. I refuse to debate my loved ones due to being a member of any church building out of compassion and understanding. Look at how all of these denominations and theologies and world views have destroyed the world, and I see no Glory to God in that. I cherish being a loner because wisdom of man is foolishness to GOD. In my home, we honor the Sabbath to glorify our Creator. I feel blessed that a Seventh Day Adventist Church took us in when we were seeking, and I sincerely enjoy our fellowship with the church, but I am not a Seventh Day Adventist, I am not Catholic, most of the time I'm not even comfortable saying I'm Christian because of all the baggage that comes along with these "religions." I am a child of God. Holy is our God the Creator. Holy is Lord Jesus the Saviour. Holy is His Holy Spirit who Comforts. And Holy is our walk with the Lord. May God Bless us all.

I was SDA for 14 years. I initially came into it because I wanted to go to a church that kept Saturday as the Sabbath. But in that time I ended up getting far away from the gospel. I got sucked in to believing Ellen G. White was a prophet. Then my theology began to be based on her rather than scripture. Based on her teaching I thought that He's came primarily to give us an example of keeping the law, to prove that we could too, and if I didn't keep the law and all the SDA rules perfectly I'd lose my salvation I thought. Well for whatever reason I began listening to reformed teaching on justification. Once I clearly grasped imputed righteousness that was the end of legalism for me, and the beginning of the end of my being SDA. I now attend a church on Sunday where the gospel is the central focus, not the law and all kinds of rules that are tied up in salvation.

@@kac0404 Resting on the Sabbath is hardly a certificate of death! Working seven days without it might be! Yeshua said the Sabbath was made for MAN (not just Jews) not man for the Sabbath, so it is for our physical benefit, not for our death. There are different laws with different Hebrew words to describe those laws. Only the ordinances pertaining to that which was done away with, such as the Temple worship and sacrifices, were nailed to the cross, as Yeshua had become our sacrifice for us instead. He did not cancel out the Torah ("teaching") law that provided MAN (not just Jews - according to the words of Yeshua) with essential time off from their six days of labour that He instructed them to do (how many obey His words today in our leisure-based society of working six days a week instead of the lazy 5 or less that is common in the west, apart from in Israel, where I worked 6 days a week?) There the Sabbath was a delight, which the Bible calls it. If it brought death Yeshua would not have observed it in His lifetime or the disciples observing it under His tutelage when they were unable to anoint His body with spices until it was over at the first opportunity after it very early on the first day of the (working) week. When He read from the prophet Isaiah in the Synagogue or "meeting-house" ("Beit Knesset") it says that He went to read on the Sabbath "as was His custom." Sabbath-keeping was normal routine for Yeshua the Son of God throughout His lifetime, although He taught about the right way to keep it in matters related to justice and integrity etc and not to add any man-made traditions and rules on top, as happens in so many Gentile churches today. If the Sabbath brought death or it no longer applied Yeshua would have started teaching against it, but rather He kept it and taught others how to keep it in accordance to God's Word, not according to built up traditions. Even as Son of God, Yeshua too needed a day of rest to recharge His batteries.
He did not lead a Sabbath-less life and only gained "spiritual rest" from His Father instead of an actual day as many Christians claim they do "in Jesus" when they don't even know His holy given Name! These same Christians do what Col 2:16 forbids, in that they judge Christians for keeping a holy festival such as Passover, or from resting on the Sabbath, or from keeping a New Moon (honouring the lunar months God set in place instead of the pagan named ones set in place by the Papacy), and when they obey God's loving advice on the eating of unclean meats that even the Gentile Noah knew about long before there were any Jews.
These stubborn Christians will keep twisting Scripture in their deceived state until they meet God face to face to defend the doctrines and theology they have built up in their own minds by either misunderstanding or misinterpreting Scripture and then teaching it to others when they are in grave error. That is a very dangerous and haughty path and unless repented of will join those who break the least of these commandments and teach men so, and will become least in the kingdom of heaven. Teachers have the most responsibility of all and will be judged as a result all the more harshly due to their dangerous influence on people and in the Church.
Yeshua said He did not come to cancel out the LAW ("TORAH") but to FULFIL. Look up the word fulfil in any dictionary. It does not mean to cancel or abolish, yet that is somehow how many Christians intetpret and perceive it. Fulfil means to meet the ogligations of, not to ignore it.
Yeshua fulfilled many aspects of the Torah Law by keeping it, not by cancelling it, as His very words state CLEARLY (unless the reader refuses to listen), and the same apllies to the Sabbath, which He kept, but He nowhere abolished it. There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God. Those who refute this are in error and will be judged by God for peddling untruth.
Your conclusion that the Sabbath is part of the ordinances nailed to the cross is simply not true and is robbing the people of God of their God-given Sabbath day of rest that will be in the new heavens and new earth along with New Moons (Isaiah 66) which is why they are a shadow of THINGS TO COME. We will have them in the future too and Yeshua is at the centre of it. He is their very substance as Lord of the Sabbath and even the day He was resurrected on (not that it matters which day) just before the onset of the first day of the week at sunset, 3 days and 3 nights (72 hours) after He was put in the tomb (on Wednesday, not Friday) just before the visitors came to the EMPTY tomb to find that Yeshua was ALREADY RISEN! They did not see Him rise, but He rose BEFORE they came in the closing hours of the Sabbath, His holy rest day.
All these things can be studied further and verified if one has a searching heart like the Jews of Berea who checked to see if these things were so. The problem with Christian seminarian doctrine and man-made creeds means that most will just ignore or not even care about the truth contained in God's Word so they can continue to promote their own chosen doctrine over what it actually says in Scripture in the proper context and understanding in which it should be received.
I am still being judged by Chistians for keeping holy festivals, the Sabbath, New Moons and in what I eat or drink, when Col 2:16 EXPRESSLY FORBIDS that anyone should judge these things!!
Until that is understood Christians will continue to use these verses to persecute those who rest on God's blessed and sanctified Sabbath day. There is none so blind as those who will not see. As Yeshua said let him who has an ear let him hear what God is saying to the churches.
But tradition is a very strong thing, which Yeshua said makes the Word of God of none effect.

Why is Saturday the 7th day.
God created heavens, earth, waters, land, sea, Heaven, trees etc up until day 3 in the book of Genesis.
The sun and moon were only created at day 4 in Gen 1:14 for signs of days, seasons and years.
We know that the 24 hr system of Monday to Sunday revolves around the sun and the moon. Therefore what measurement does the Bible and God use to measure the first 3 days since there was no sun and/or moon.
How then do we know that day 1 to 3 could have run from a period of either minutes or weeks or months or even a million/billion years for each day? God didn't have an watch back then.
So if the sun and moon (24 hr system) were created at day 4, does that mean that the week/day 1 starts on a Wed/Thu (depending whether Sun/Mon is your first day). In that case, day 7 or sabbath becomes either Tue or Wed.
And don't say Gen 1:4-5 mentions day amd night because if you read either KJV, CEPHER or NMV write it with capital D and N meaning Day and Night are describing a noun ie person.

The 7th day Sabbath was there before sin. It was presented to humanity after sin as a means to come back to oneness with God. Jesus kept the Sabbath and the Apostle Paul (as well as all the other apostles) kept the Sabbath. Isaiah prophesied that all flesh will keep the Sabbath in the new earth (Isaiah 66). While the millennium of rest is a part of entering into God's rest the 7th day Sabbath will always be a part of our worship to God. I would lean further towards keeping it Holy as God intends.

YES INDEED IT WOULD, AND THAT VERY THING IS WHAT THE WORK OF THE MAN OF SIN (2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-12) ACCOMPLISHED. THE MATTER OF THE SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST/MAN OF SIN, IS THAT IT WOULD BE A BLASPHEMOUS POWER, NOT A SINGULAR INDIVIDUAL, FOR JOHN IN HIS EPISTLE DECLARED THE FOLLOWING.

      1 John 2:18
“Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that ANTICHRIST SHALL COME, even now are there MANY ANTICHRISTS; whereby we know that it is the last time.”

THE APOSTLE PAUL MAKES REFERENCE TO THIS VERY THING IN ACTS OF THE APOSTLES.

      Acts 20:26
#1 “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I AM PURE FROM THE BLOOD OF ALL MEN.”
      Acts 20:27
“For I have not shunned to declare unto you ALL THE COUNSEL OF GOD.”

      Acts 20:30
“Also of your own selves shall MEN ARISE, speaking PERVERSE THINGS, to DRAW AWAY DISCIPLES AFTER THEM.”

#1 THE APOSTLE PAUL BORROWS LANGUAGE SPOKE TO THE PROPHET EZEKIEL.

      Ezekiel 3:17
“Son of man, I have made thee A WATCHMAN unto the house of Israel: therefore HEAR THE WORD AT MY MOUTH, and give them WARNING FROM ME.”
      Ezekiel 3:18
“When I SAY TO THE WICKED, Thou shalt surely die; and THOU GIVEST HIM NOT WARNING, NOR SPEAKEST TO WARN THE WICKED FROM HIS WICKED WAY, to SAVE HIS LIFE; the same wicked man SHALL DIE IN HIS INIQUITY; BUT HIS BLOOD WILL I REQUIRE AT THINE HAND.”

THESE SCRIPTURES FROM BOTH OLD AND NEW CONVEY THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE OF APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, PASTORS AND TEACHERS, AND ESPECIALLY THE ELDERS (BISHOPS) OF THE LOCAL CHURCH TO NOT ONLY TEACH THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH OF SCRIPTURE, BUT ALSO TO PROTECT THEIR FLOCK FROM FOREIGN DOGMA AND THOSE ANTICHRISTS, WHO WOULD SEEK TO ENTER IN AND MAKE DISCIPLES AFTER THEIR FALSE TEACHING.

#2 THE APOSTLE PAUL STRONGLY CHARGES THE ELDERS GATHERED AT THAT TIME TO BOTH WATCH OVER THEIR FLOCK AND FEED THEM.

THE WAR SATAN HAS WAGED FROM THE BEGINNING IS TWO FOLD, THAT WITH PERSECUTION AND DEATH, OR WITH LIES AND HYPOCRISY, HE WOULD SUBVERT THE BODY OF MESSIAH JESUS. OUR LORD SAID THIS HOWEVER,

      Matthew 16:18
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH and the GATES OF HELL (HADES-THE GRAVE) shall not prevail against it.”

SINCE THE ATTEMPT TO KILL OFF THE CHURCH, BOTH IN JERUSALEM (BY THE LEADERS OF SANHEDRIN) AND LATER THE ROMANS, WHO THOUGHT CHRISTIANITY WAS A POLITICAL THREAT TO THE EMPIRE FAILED (FOR EVERY CHRITIAN MARTYR KILLED 10 NEW CHRISTIANS WERE BORN), THE EFFORT THEN TURNED TO SOPHISTRY, LIES, AND INCORPORATION OF PAGAN IDEALS INTO THE ANTICHRIST CHURCH.

THE FOURTH KINGDOM (ROME) WAS IN PLACE BETWEEN 168 B.C TO 476 A.D

AFTER ROME FELL, THERE WAS A CONFLICT IN THE TERRITORY OF WHAT IS NOW WESTERN EUROPE BETWEEN THE BISHOP OF ROME AND THE 3 POWERS PROPHETICALLY AND HISTORICALLY DESCRIBED IN DANIEL 7:24. THIS IS CALLED THE ARIAN CONTROVERSY.
      A SHORT HISTORY OF ARYANISM

"ARIANISM, an influential heresy denying the divinity of Christ, originating with the Alexandrian priest ARIUS ( c. 250- c. 336). Arianism maintained that the Son of God was created by the Father and was therefore neither coeternal with the Father, nor consubstantial."

In 325 A.D the COUNCIL OF NICEA was convened to settle the controversy. The council condemned Arius as a heretic and issued a creed to safeguard “orthodox” Christian belief. The creed states that the Son is homoousion tō Patri (“of one substance with the Father”), thus declaring him to be all that the Father is: he is completely divine. In fact, however, this was only the beginning of a long-protracted dispute.

From 325 to 337, when the emperor Constantine died, those church leaders who had supported Arius and had been exiled after the Council of Nicaea attempted to return to their churches and sees (ecclesiastical seats) and to banish their enemies. They were partly successful. From 337 to 350 Constans, sympathetic to non-Arian Christians, was emperor in the West, and Constantius II, sympathetic to the Arians, was emperor in the East. At a church council held at Antioch (341), an affirmation of faith that omitted the homoousion clause was issued.

THUS WE SEE THAT NEAR THE CLOSE OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE (IN THE WEST AND EAST - BYZANTIUM) ARIANISM WAS RECEIVED AND PROTECTED BY THE RULERS, IN CONTRAST TO THOSE RELIGIOUS FIGURES WHO CONVENED THE COUNCIL OF NICEA IN EMPEROR CONSTANTINE'S TIME (325 A.D). EMPEROR CONSTANTINE BY THE WAY MOVED HIS SEAT OF POWER EAST FOUNDING THE NAMED CITY, "CONSTANTINOPLE'', WHICH IS NOW MODERN DAY ISTANBUL TURKEY. THIS WILL BE MENTIONED AGAIN LATER.

THE ARIAN CONTROVERSY CONTINUED ON ANOTHER 200 YEARS, AND BETWEEN THE TIME OF THE COUNCIL OF NICEA (325 A.D) AND THE CONFLICT ENDING (528A.D) A FEW THINGS HAPPENED.

      1. COUNCIL OF NICEA (325 A.D)

      2. Emperor Constantine, (330 A.D) moved the capital from Rome to the Greek city Byzantium in the east, and renamed the city Constantinople.

      2. FALL OF WESTERN ROME TO THE BARBARIAN TRIBES (476 A.D)

The most straightforward theory for Western Rome’s collapse pins the fall on a string of military losses sustained against outside forces. Rome had tangled with Germanic tribes for centuries, but by the 4 the century, “barbarian” groups like the Goths had encroached beyond the Empire’s borders. The Barbarian attacks on Rome partially stemmed from a mass migration caused by the Huns’ invasion of Europe in the late fourth century. When these Eurasian warriors rampaged through northern Europe, they drove many Germanic tribes to the borders of the Roman Empire. The Romans grudgingly allowed members of the Visigoth tribe to cross south of the Danube and into the safety of Roman territory, but they treated them with extreme cruelty.

The Romans weathered a Germanic uprising in the late fourth century, but in (410 a.d) the Visigoth King Alaric successfully sacked the city of Rome.

The Empire spent the next several decades under constant threat before “the Eternal City” was raided again in (455 a.d), this time by the Vandals.

Finally, in 476 a.d, the Germanic leader Odoacer staged a revolt and deposed the Emperor Romulus Augustulus. From then on, no Roman emperor would ever again rule from a post in Italy, leading many to cite (476 a.d) as the year the Western Empire suffered its deathblow.

      3. THE THREE HORNS REVEALED AS ARYAN KINGS (KINGDOMS) OPPOSED TO THE BISHOP AND ROMAN CHURCH. THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS

      a. THE HERULI
      b. THE VANDALS
      c. THE OSTROGOTHS

The position is here confidently taken that the three powers, or horns, plucked up by the roots were the HERULI, the VANDALS, and the OSTROGOTHS; and this position rests upon reliable historical data.

Odoacer, the leader of the Heruli, was the first of the barbarians who reigned over the Romans. He took the throne of Italy, A.D. 476. Of his religious belief Gibbon says: "Like the rest of the barbarians he had been instructed in the Arian heresy; but he revered the monastic and episcopal characters; and the silence of the Catholics attests the toleration which they enjoyed."

Arianism was adopted as the national faith of the warlike converts who were seated on the ruins of the Western Empire. This irreconcilable difference of religion was a perpetual source of jealousy and hatred; and the reproach of barbarian was embittered by the more odious epithet of heretic. The heroes of the north, who had submitted with some reluctance to believe that all their ancestors were in hell, were astonished and exasperated to learn that they themselves had only changed the mode of their eternal condemnation."

The Arian doctrine had a marked influence on the church at that time, as will be observed in the following paragraphs: "The whole of the vast Gothic population which descended on the Roman Empire, so far as it was Christian at all, held to the faith of the Alexandrian heretic. Our first Teutonic version of the Scriptures was by an Arian missionary, Ulfilas.

The first conqueror of Rome, Alaric, the first conqueror of Africa, Genseric, were Arians.

Theodoric the Great, king of Italy, and hero of the 'Nibelungenlied,' was an Arian.

The vacant place in his massive tomb at Ravenna is a witness of the vengeance which the Orthodox took on his memory, when on their triumph they tore down the porphyry vase in which his Arian subjects had enshrined his ashes."

THERE IS WAY MUCH MORE HISTORY CONCERNING THE ARYANS WHO ESTABLISHED POSITIONS OF POWER, NOT ONLY IN ROME ITSELF, BUT ELSEWHERE IN THE DIVIDED TERRITORY OF FORMER ROME, NOW EUROPE. OVER 200 YEARS BEYOND THE COUNCIL OF NICEA (325A.D), AND 100 YEARS AFTER THE FALL OF WESTERN ROME (476 A.D) WAR AND BLOODSHED BETWEEN ARIAN RULERS AND CATHOLICS (WHO DESPISED THE HERETICS), OCCURRED BETWEEN NORTH AFRICA AND IN EUROPE, EVEN TO THE BRITISH ISLES.

THE REASON FOR THIS UPROOTING OF 3 OF THE 10 HORNS, HAD TO DO WITH CONFLICT HISTORY BETWEEN THE RISE OF POPERY IN ROME, THE FALL OF PAGAN ROME, AND THE VACUUM OF POWER THAT ALL, INCLUDING THE BISHOP OF ROME DESIRED TO FILL.
FOR DECADES THE ARIAN POWERS EVEN INVOLVED THEMSELVES IN THE ELECTION/SUCCESSION OF POPES, BECAUSE THEY CAME INTO POWER IN THE WEST.
THESE VERY THINGS HELP US TO UNDERSTAND, WHAT THEN, WAS THE REASONS FOR CONFLICT. ONE FINAL HISTORICAL FOCUS POINT AS TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE "LITTLE HORN" IN THE AFFAIRS OF THE WESTERN EUROPEAN TERRITORY.

While the Catholics were thus feeling the restraining power of an Arian king in Italy, they were suffering a violent persecution from the Arian Vandals in Africa.

Historian Elliot says: " The Vandal kings were not only Arians, but persecutors of the Catholics; in Sardinia and Corsica under the Roman Episcopate, we may presume, as well as in Africa."

Such was the position of affairs, when, (533 A.D), Justinian entered upon his Vandal and Gothic wars. Wishing to obtain the influence of the pope and the Catholic party, he issued that memorable decree which was to THE POPE OF ALL THE CHURCHES, and from the carrying out of which (538 A.D), the period of PAPAL SUPREMACY is to be dated.

And whoever will read the history of the African campaign, 533-534, and the Italian campaign, 534-538, will notice that the Catholics everywhere hailed as deliverers the army of Belisarius, the general of Justinian. But no decree of this nature could be carried into effect until the ARIAN HORNS which stood in its way were overthrown (UPROOTED). A turn came, however, in the tide of affairs, for in the military campaign in Africa and Italy the victorious legions of Belisarius dealt a crushing blow to Arianism, so much so that its final supporters were vanquished.

NOW, AT THIS POINT ONE MAY ASK, "WHY DO I SHARE ALL THIS HISTORY?" THE ANSWER IS THAT WE (TOGETHER) MIGHT SEE AND UNDERSTAND THE PROPHETIC TIMES, WHICH ALMIGHTY GOD HAS PURPOSED AND REVEALED BY HIS PROPHETS. WE LIVE IN THE 21ST CENTURY, FAR REMOVED FROM THE CONFLICTS THE EARLY CHURCHES OF JUDEA, ASIA MINOR, AND THE ROMAN EMPIRE ERA, THEREFORE WE NEED TO SEE HOW THE CHURCH THEN WAS AFFECTED, AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD, WE MAY BOTH SEE AND KNOW.

(PART THREE AND FINAL RESPONSE) Isaiah 46:9
“Remember the former things of old: for I AM GOD, and there is none else; I AM GOD, and there is none like ME,”

      Isaiah 46:10
“Declaring THE END FROM THE BEGINNING and from ANCIENT TIMES the THINGS that are NOT YET DONE, saying, MY COUNSEL SHALL STAND, and I WILL DO ALL MY PLEASURE:”

DANIEL WAS SHOWN THE SAME IN THE INTERPRETATION OF DANIEL 2

      Daniel 2:20
“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be THE NAME OF GOD for ever and ever: for WISDOM AND MIGHT ARE HIS:”
      Daniel 2:21
“And HE CHANGETH THE TIMES AND SEASONS: HE REM0VETH KINGS, AND SETTETH UP KINGS: HE GIVETH WISDOM UNTO THE WISE, and KNOWLEDGE TO THEM THAT KNOW UNDERSTANDING:”

IT IS THE LORD WHO DECREES BOTH THE RISE AND FALL OF NATIONS, OF EMPIRES, AND HE SPEAKS BY HIS PROPHETS (WHO ARE WISE AND HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE SCRIPTURES).

      Amos 3:7
“Surely the LORD GOD will do nothing, but HE REVEALETH HIS SECRET unto HIS SERVANTS THE PROPHETS.”

NOW WE SEE THAT THE POWER WHO OPPOSED THE THREE ARIAN HORNS, AND AFTER THEY WERE VANQUISHED (UPROOTED) TO TO THEMSELF THE POWER (BOTH CIVIL AND RELIGIOUS) OVER THE DIVIDED ROMAN EMPIRE OF EUROPE. THAT TIME IS WHAT WE KNOW AS MONARCHIAL EUROPE, WHERE KINGS CONSOLIDATED TERRITORY, YET THE PAPACY OF ROME HAD A HAND IN ALL THEY WOULD DO, AND THE KINGS OF EUROPE SUBMITTED TO THE PAPACY. THIS IS WHAT I LEARNED IN WESTERN HISTORY IN COLLEGE, CONCERNING THE "DEVELOPMENT OF THE PAPACY OF ROME".

LET US FIRST SEE THE MINDSET OF THOSE IN ROME THEN IN THE FIRST CENTURIES THAT FOLLOWED THE APOSTLES DEPARTURE...

The first pastors, or bishops, OF ROME enjoyed a respect proportionate to the rank of the city in which they resided. For the FIRST FEW CENTURIES OF THE CHRISTIAN ERA, Rome was the largest, richest, and most powerful city in the world. It was the SEAT OF EMPIRE, the CAPITAL OF NATIONS.

"All the inhabitants of the earth belong to here," said Julian; and Claudian declared her to be the "fountain of laws."

"If Rome is the queen of cities, why should not HER PASTOR BE THE KING OF BISHOPS?" was the reasoning these Roman pastors put forth. "Why should not the Roman Church be the mother of Christendom?

Why should not ALL NATIONS be her children, and HER AUTHORITY THEIR SOVEREIGN LAW? It was easy," says D'Aubigne, from whom we quote these words, "for the ambitious heart of man to reason thus. Ambitious Rome did so."

LET US CONTRACT THEIR THOUGHTS, WITH OUR LORD'S WORDS AND ANSWER TO PONTIUS PILATE (ROMAN GOVERNOR OF JUDEA) UPON THE DAY OF HIS SUFFERING AND DEATH,

      John 18:33
“Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?”
      John 18:34
“Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?”
      John 18:35
“Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?”
      John 18:36
“Jesus answered, MY KINGDOM IS NOT OF THIS WORLD: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is MY KINGDOM IS NOT FROM HENCE.”

NEITHER THEN, OR NOW, CAN ANY NATION, ANY KING, RULER, OR POPE, CAN DECLARE THIS EARTH THE KINGDOM OF MESSIAH JESUS OUR LORD. WITH THIS IN MIND, LET'S DELVE FURTHER INTO HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PAPAL POWER OF ROME.
      KEY POINTS

      1. During the early history of Christianity, Rome became an increasingly important center of the faith, which gave the bishop of Rome (the pope) more power over the entire church, thereby ushering in the era of papal supremacy. THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY THE DECREE

      2. When Catholicism became the official religion of the Roman Empire in 380, the power of the pope increased, although he was still subordinate to the emperor.

After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the pope served as a source of authority and continuity; however, for several centuries afterward the Eastern Roman Emperor still maintained authority over the church.

      3. From the late-6th to the late-8th century there was a turning of the papacy to the West and an escape from subordination to the authority of the Byzantine emperors of Constantinople.

      4. When Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne as Roman Emperor in 800 A.D, he established the precedent that, in Western Europe, no man would be emperor without being crowned by a pope.

      5. After a conflict known as the Investiture Controversy, as well as from the launching of the Crusades, the papacy increased its power in relation to the secular rulers of Europe.

      6. Throughout the Middle Ages, popes struggled with monarchs over power.

WE ALL KNOW OF THE HISTORY OF ENGLAND AND KING HENRY VIII, AND HIS DEPARTURE FROM, AND RECOGNITION OF THE ROMAN PAPACY IN THE AFFAIRS OF ENGLAND. THEREFORE WE SEE THE MEANS BY WHICH THE PAPACY HAD POWER OVER THE KINGS OF EARTH, WHICH THE PROPHETIC WORD DESCRIBES AS, "FORNICATION".

      Daniel 7:25
“And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

THE BLASPHEMOUS POWER OF ROME'S PAPACY IS CLEARLY REPRESENTED IN FULFILLMENT OF THE PROPHECY, AS WELL AS IN REVELATION 13:1-10, WHERE THE LEOPARD LIKE BEAST HAVING 7 HEADS, TEN HORNS, AND THE NAME OF BLASPHEMY UPON ITS HEADS. THIS POWER ALSO OPENS ITS MOUTH IN BLASPHEMY TOWARDS GOD, TO BLASPHEME HIS NAME, AND HIS TABERNACLE, AND THEM THAT DWELL IN HEAVEN.

CERTAINLY WE KNOW (AS CHRISTIANS) THAT THE TERM BLASPHEMY HAS TO DO WITH A MAN, TRYING TO MAKE HIMSELF OUT TO BE GOD, RIGHT? THEREFORE WE CAN LOOK AGAIN UPON THE USE OF, "SPEAKING GREAT WORDS AGAINST THE MOST HIGH GOD'' AND THE BEAST OF REVELATION 13, "OPENING HIS MOUTH IN BLASPHEMY AGAINST GOD" TO BE THE SELF SAME APPLICATION AND POWER WARNED ABOUT.

IN THAT EARLY ON (IN ROME) THE EARLY CHRISTIANS THEN WERE ALREADY ENTERTAINING PROVOCATIVE STATEMENTS AS TO THE BISHOP OF ROME HAVING POWER OVER ALL CHURCHES, AND EVEN ALL NATIONS, IT IS CLEAR THAT THE SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST HAD FULLY DEVELOPED. ROME IN THE APOSTLE PAUL'S LETTER WERE COMMENDABLE, AND SOUND IN DOCTRINE, AS ALSO OTHER CHURCHES, WHOM PAUL ADDRESSED IN HIS EPISTLES WERE SUCH FOR THE MOST PART.

IN CORINTH HOWEVER, A MAN WHO OPENLY LIVED IN THE SIN OF FORNICATION, WAS IN A STATE OF NON-REPENTANCE, AND THE CHURCH ITSELF DID NOTHING TO ARREST THE VIOLATION AMONG THEM. (SEE 1 CORINTHIANS 5 AND 2 CORINTHIANS 13). WHEN SIN (TRANSGRESSION OF GOD'S LAW I JOHN 3:4) IS LEFT UNCHECKED, IT CAUSES A FALLING AWAY (APOSTASY) FROM CHRIST AND THE TRUTH.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE CHURCH IN ROME, WAS THAT ALTHOUGH IT WAS ONCE COMMENDED, IT LATER BROUGHT INTO PRACTICE FALSE DOCTRINES AND EVEN PAGAN PRACTICES, THUS MAKING ITSELF AN ALTOGETHER SEPARATE ENTITY, APART FROM THE TRUE CHURCH.

BECAUSE PAGAN ROME WAS FIRST ENGAGED IN PERSECUTION, AND LATER SEEMED TO ENDORSE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, IT BECAME THE CATALYST OF THE CHURCH OF ROME TO FALL AWAY AND EVOLVE INTO THE PAPACY. MANY HISTORIANS BELIEVE THE STATE (CHARACTER) OF THE CHURCH WAS PURER, MORE NOBLE, WHEN PERSECUTED, THAT WHAT IT BECAME LATER.
IN CONCLUSION kac, AND TO GET BACK TO THE POINT YOU, YOURSELF MADE, ""it takes a lot of gall and outright rebellion to change what God called holy, the seventh day, to the first day of the week without having distinct direction from God."
I DO HOPE YOU NOW SEE HOW IN FACT THAT WHICH THE LORD GOD PROCLAIMED TO BE,
      1. "HIS HOLY DAY" (SEE ISAIAH 58:13, 14)
      2. THAT WHICH THE LORD GOD HIMSELF DECLARED TO BE, "THE SABBATH OF THE LORD THY GOD" (SEE EXODUS 20:10)
      3. THAT WAS BLESSED AND HALLOWED AFTER THE LORD CREATED ALL THINGS IN SIX DAYS (SEE GENESIS 2:1-3)
      4. OF WHICH JESUS SAID, "THE SABBATH WAS MADE FOR MAN" (NO MENTION OF THE JEW)
      5. AND THAT HE, "THE SON OF MAN IS LORD ALSO OF THE SABBATH DAY" (SEE MARK 2:27, 28)
AS FOR YOUR SAYING, SUNDAY IS THE IS THE LORD'S DAY (ACCORDING TO YOUR APPLICATION OF REVELATION 1:10), I SINCERELY HOPE AND PRAY YOU HAVE THE COURAGE AND WILL HAVE DEVELOPED HOLY DISCERNMENT, THAT YOU MIGHT BE CORRECTED IN THIS MATTER BY THE WORD OF GOD, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT BEFORE RESPONDING AGAIN.

TRULY, JOHN WAS IN THE SPIRIT UPON THE SEVENTH DAY SABBATH, THE TRUE LORD'S DAY OF SCRIPTURE.
      (THE END)

The New Covenant does not advocate the observance of any Christian holy days, but neither does it forbid such observance. Romans 14:5 appears to be the guiding principle: “One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.” If a Christian is going to observe a holy day, he/she should be fully convinced that it does not violate God’s Word, that it can be done to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31), and that it would be spiritually beneficial (1 Corinthians 6:12; 10:23).

So, we are commanded to rest on the sabbath.. to cease from all activities.. am I correct? Where does it command me to get dressed up and attend the assembly twice in one day? That's not resting for me. It's work dragging 5 people to church twice a day.. I find myself so tired I can't worship.. so I worship on Saturday at home, while resting. I attend the assembly on Sunday cause that's when they meet. Why can't I do both? Worship with God and me on Saturday, and with the assembly on Sunday.

A one day in 7 is not the command. The commandment says "The Seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God" - it's not just any day. This can be proven just by the New Testament texts itself:
(Acts 13:42) And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
(Acts 13:44) And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
The Sabbath was a specific day and not a day that man can choose to his liking. This is a deception when we say "one in seven". Also the Sabbath commandment commands to let our household and workers to rest on that day but what if my son or daughter says I choose Wednesday to be my Sabbath and not the day you choose? It's clear, the Sabbath is a universal specific day on the 7th from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. It's the Lord's day and not the day you choose for the Lord, that's just deception.
