DISCLOSURE: This is a sponsored video in partnership with Twingate. At the 00:03 mark I display the screenshot of the initial email, but failed to disclose any further until the end of the video. My apologies. I also used UA-cam's built-in feature to disclose this. I will make sure to disclose this better in video in the future with the limited amount of full sponsored videos I do. Sponsorship or not, I have been using Twingate for over 3 months as my primary solution to access my home network remotely.
If someone complains about missing a sponsorship when you said “a company reached out to me” and posted a screenshot of an email titled “video sponsorship” that’s completely on them 😅 So many people complain about sponsored videos when they are getting this UA-cam video absolutely free. Who cares if the man took a sponsorship? 99% of us wouldn’t say no to that money! Love your work man. Appreciate what you do for us.
It's all closed source, even the clients, it's a bit worrying for something that allows access to your internal network to not be something that can be audited.

I use tailscale - almost the same as twingate. Ive tried twingate but the main reason why I use tailscale and think its a bit better is cause I use a raspberry pi as an end node that I left at my sisters home to mask my IP when I’m out and about over 5g. I also paired it with nextdns. What I do love about twingate though is the ability to run it in a docker container.
This… that feel when I’ve spent 2 hours looking up, “how to use docker composer on windows step by step” I gave up, I’ll come back to it when I regain my patience. And this is just so I can install Homarr 🤦🏻♂️
It establishes a direct connection between two or more devices unlike a traditional VPN. There is a type of VPN called mesh VPN that does this but, as far as I can tell twingate isn't a mesh VPN.
so what machine was the first connector that you installed on? i see the second one is your unraid server. my only other computer in my house besides unraid NAS is my laptop, which typically would not be on if i am not home. so in that scenario i guess i would only be able to have one connector on the unraid and thats it right?

hey man this question is unrelated to the video and im sorry about that but my question is when having windows on a steam deck is ur only storage option the micro sd card from where windows boots or does it use both the micro sd card and the storage that comes with the steam deck you buy??
You said in your intro, that I wouldn't need a reverse-proxy, but what about containers like vault-warden that require https; or trying to bookmark several services on the same device that have different ports will be a nightmare! I use tailscale, and I'm already setup to where you are now, but I can't get the reverse proxy working and the json-ACL is kind of confusing for access. I would use it if it had a built in reverse proxy that could see your docker containers and give https/tls certs, but if not then no. Also not a fan of the closed nature, although I do like the simple UI for access.

This is probably the first of your videos, that I had to downvote. Not only promoting paid service and software, which by itself isn't necessarily a problem, but ain't in the spirit of FOSS and FOSS-way of doing things either, but when I've tried to open their website my browser literally almost froze. Mouse almost no movement. I barely managed to close their site and all turned back to normal. Who knows what agencies or actors are behind this service and how they scan you.

Tailscale (headscale), Nebula - can be fully self-hosted without any 3rd party dependency
I use tailscale and was wondering if this is any better,

ZT uses it's own encryption. Tailscale uses wireguard which is known to be fast.
@@nick-leffler doesn't zerotier also use its own encryption?
I dunno about you but Twingate is much faster than Tailscale

Same here, made a dummy account for Tailscale and when I'm a friends house it's really easy to set up plus the ip masking it's really a nice feature
Have you tried headscale ?

This is clearly a VPN but geared towards developers and sysadmins for access control for multiple users, normal VPN probably fine for most devs
No proper sponsorship disclosure. Yikes.
So isn't it basically the same as a Cloudflare tunnel?
It is. It's a simple zero trust tunnel is all.
That's exactly what I was thinking...

What about certs i means example vaultwarden need certs. Twingate generate certs letcrypt for HTTPS?

How is your laptop screen so bright outdoors?! I need those kind of nits in my life
How does this compare to other similar solutions like Netbird?
How do I upgrade a connector? I got this email the other day "Twingate connector update required"
Love a video on this, please!?
Does anyone know of a turorial like this for Cloudflare WARP?
What's the best way to get access to my jellyfin remotely? Is the only way a reverse proxy? There must be a simpler solution?
This option would work, but there aren't clients for TV only computers and phones. If you want more open source look into Tailscale.
