I am hoping my fund manager in a flexicap does the rebalancing including having some allocation to cash in frothy markets. This is far more tax efficient than me making rebalancing.

I am not sure whether complex funds need to be sold to first time investors. Someone in 20-40s who has 15plus years for retirement DSP flexicap is much better fund. In long term 12% returns over 10% will create multiple times returns in 10-15 years.
It's likely that you are mentioning Small Cap mutual funds, these are very overvalued right now so there's no use in entering the small cap segment now, wait for a buying opportunity when there's market correction
