Going to Korea this winter...thank you for the tips and for breaking up the Korean words into syllables (very helpful)!! So looking forward to the Su-je-bi!
cari cakes nope! Our winters have really warmed up each year so it will be rare that we get heavy snow:) the snow will be light enough to not have to tip it :) Heavy snow mostly falls at night here :) (colder at night)
The roasted Korean sweet potato could get pretty nasty after if it's left out for a while. So what I do is, peel, slice in half, poke holes with a fork, brush on a little oil then sprinkle some sea salt. Then pop it the toaster oven on broil. Wait until the edges gets brown, crispy and caramelized.
I'm looking to get a job in Seoul, after I graduate! But before I do that, I'm going to do a test run of some sorts and stay there this December! Glad I came across your channel
Thank you for the tips!! I wonder if the cafes keep it colder so you'll buy more warm coffee or tea!? Oh my goodness, citron tea is the best when its cold!!! And that warm broth is a life saver and so good!!! When I was in Korea I had like two backup batteries for my phone lol. So, I completely agree with that! Stay warm and be careful of colds! I hope you have a great holiday!!
hahah that would be a dirty trick!! and omg the bathrooms especially are so cold hhahaha and yeah im living that external battery life ㅠㅠ stay warm too!! happy holidays~~
so informative ! thank you ! your voice is so soothing and calm btw I will probably go to SK at the end of january to get a tattoo so i won't be able to escape the winter weather, thx again for the tips !!!
Absolutely love your videos and the things you showcase. Hate that google (I hope google is reading this comment) is plugging FOUR commercials into this 14min vlog..
It's almost winter time again! I'll always remember our winter in South Korea last December 2019 and I'll always remember this video as part of our research for things to wear for South Korean winter. (I still have yet to see the road and everything covered in snow, though) ^^ Thank you so much!
I'm from Michigan, so I'm used to the winter, but this was still a nice video to watch. I think you would be considered crazy if you walked around with an umbrella when it was snowing! It just isn't something you do.
Uhh those sidewalks (and the people who “sweep” the snow off of them)... I slipped on those tileish sidewalks in Gangnam right in front of a major financial company who obviously wasn’t worried about anyone suing them for not salting the sidewalks. I actually blacked out a second and not one of the many people walking by came to help me. ☹️
omg!!!!!! luckily i havent fallen that badly, just a lot of near misses, but i've seriously considered just bringing a bag of salt with me and sprinkling it in my path hahah hope you're okay!!!
My two friends are spending 8 days in Korea. I dont know if they have time for all your helpful vids. I think they leave on the 26th. So this is brilliant! Thank you Cari. Definitely sharing your winter survival tips!
Even as someone who comes from where it snows, Seoul is still sometimes VERY cold. Puffy coats are the best and they are hilarious because it's like a huge city of puffy blobs. I love it. And hot packs are my best friends! They are life savers. Seriously. On another note, I love your video looks. I have been around almost since the beginning and I love all of them but it's also amazing to see how far you've come with your editing and quality and everything. Keep up the amazing work!
Face masks and hot packs, that was how I got through the winter. And my marshmallow coat too of course. And oh my gosh I would take a blanket to my classes at Yonsei in winter because some of the classrooms were freezing cold. Now of course I have winters of 12 - 18C and lots of sun.
omg yes yonsei classrooms were the WORST I remember kids getting to class so early so they could sit in the warmest part of my history classroom hahahahahha
What is the usual temperature in winter? Loved the video, haven't been in Seoul in winter, only the warm seasons. Would love to explore it in winter. Where I live in Russia it get very cold in winter, it'd be interesting to compare!
Happy Early Birthday! And snow is so pretty but geez, cold weather is not my cup of tea. Lol. I do have a BTS facemask though that I got in a subscription box but I don’t really have a need to wear it in Texas. Ugh...the smartphone bit sucks, I have an iPhone so if I ever get to go to Korea (I wanna gooooo) and it’s snowing, I’ll be in trouble since there’s no external battery to swap. I have a portable charger but not the same... Have a happy holiday! :)
you can buy external batteries here that work with iphone!!! i keep mine on me at all times because the cold is so insane hahaha and thank you!!! happy holidays~~
All of these tips were super helpful for me! I'm from Texas, so I've never really lived in the snow. :p But I am going to college in Vermont, so I need all the help I can get!!! Hope you have a happy holiday and birthday!!! Sending love from Texas!!
Another great video! I’m sure these tips will be useful to some visitors. Maybe other viewers/subscribers could let you know what they think about this, but I’ve noticed in your last videos that when you write something at the bottom of the screen, it would be better if the text was displayed a little longer as I often don’t have time to read it, and then I have to stop the video, go back and pause. Or am I getting too old for this?? :-p Merry Christmas to you!
you already know how to prepare for winter in Korea I still have to practice listening to English lol But I love your videos How long have you been in Korea?
Coming from the French Riviera, Seoul was such a shock for me and I left a couple of weeks ago! I can't imagine I'd survive this weather you're having now, but I guess it'd be good practice since I'm going to Canada soon. I'll definitely use some of these tips there too, especially the face mask one since I brought a couple back from Korea.
Food in winter is the best in Korea! I love the face masks for warmth but if you wear glasses it is a nightmare 😆 I always thought I was going to die during winter because of how hilly the area was I lived in.
I slipped during my first winter in seoul in 2019 and it was very scary and painful. i'm lowkey traumatized from that but im visiting korea in winter again, just dont wanna slip again lol. thank u for mentioning that!!
thank you for sharing 😊 how cold can it get in S.Korea during the month of January? I'll be visiting Korea for this coming new year and I'm coming from Quebec.
You saved my life with this video! I from Dominican Republic and here es reaaaallly hot, im going to korea next January and i didn't know what to do because ive never been in a snowy place if you can say 😂 so yeah this was really helpful and i hope i dont die of cold there
Oh, this makes me miss Korean food soooo much!! And I love 유자차 ❤️ I‘m so happy that I have a few Korean supermarkets nearby where I can get it. It was my best companion during my 2 weeks staying at home because of my bad cold. Wish you a very lovely Christmas, Cari❤️ Discovering your vlogs was one of the good things this year!
It was snowing in Germany here last week, but the bad thing was that my train was 30 minutes to late on the weekend and during the week there was no bus, so I walked up the whole way to work and back (on a small mountain)
I wish they would sell hot packs in Estonia ;-; It can get pretty cold here so I don't get why they don't sell them😒 like really we just freeze to death outside
Im already prepare for winter haha but it funny to see how winter is in korea ... it look like spring in canada ;) The food look so good and the blanket in cofee shop is a nice idea 👌🏻❄️
Face masks 😂😭 looks like we’re all going to be warm this winter
She knew 2 years back the importance of mask.!!😅😍

Your video is most helpful. Thank you so much for your conscientiousness in filming this despite being out in the cold. Keep warm.
In the Netherlands we use umbrellas in the snow too 🙂
do you get people tipping their snow on you? i really cant remember what we do in america hahahah
cari cakes nope! Our winters have really warmed up each year so it will be rare that we get heavy snow:) the snow will be light enough to not have to tip it :)
Heavy snow mostly falls at night here :) (colder at night)
ah ha! well when you visit seoul beware of the umbrella tipping cause its an all-the-time thing here hahahah
I always go for kimchi fried rice shops in the winter. Food cooked right in front of you, pipping hot, so good.
oh wow, i've never seen them fry the rice in front of you before!! where did you see this!?
Love the thumbnail! Thanks for the video
hehehe thank you~ hope you're staying warm
I love snow as I used to live on east coast of America ... such snowy winters there xx
The roasted Korean sweet potato could get pretty nasty after if it's left out for a while. So what I do is, peel, slice in half, poke holes with a fork, brush on a little oil then sprinkle some sea salt. Then pop it the toaster oven on broil. Wait until the edges gets brown, crispy and caramelized.
im hungry!!
Have a wonderful holiday :)♡
you too
Such a helpful video!!! I’m coming to Seoul in 2 weeks!!! So scared of the cold. I still want to wear cute outfits
everyone looks like a blob on the street but you can hide a cute outfit under your jacket ;)
I'm looking to get a job in Seoul, after I graduate! But before I do that, I'm going to do a test run of some sorts and stay there this December! Glad I came across your channel

this is so interesting! especially to me since right now is like 75 degrees in texas haha
bahaha i know!! the concept of winter was so strange to me while living in san diego
At least we had a semi-white Christmas in Texas 2 weeks ago...lol. That was fun.

It just isn't something you do.

happy birthday month to you too^^~
Always cover your head. Heat escapes most through an uncovered head.
You are so beautiful always~~~ but especially in this videos, there's just something else 🧡
Uhh those sidewalks (and the people who “sweep” the snow off of them)... Hi, when did you visit korea? It’s snowing heavily.
What external battery are you using? And what’s the best one 🤔
Hi Cari. Just curious. On average how long does editing take for you? The total process.
hmmm maybe a little over an hour? but i usually plan out all my shots so that i just drag, drop, cut, and done!
how much Korean do you know? What's the min required?
Typo! slow life sown > slow life down. = ]
ha! clearly my life wasnt slow when i was typing that~
