Do you guys know that denim come from Nimes? Cloth from there was ‘from Nimes’ or ‘De Nimes’ a useless fact we learned when we lived in the south of France! Enjoying your France videos- brings back great memories!
Hey guys, we actually did know that about denim and meant to include that info in one of our videos from Nimes. We never got around to it... One more video from the south of France coming up... Thanks for watching. Safe travels!
As my sister in law said years ago, France is a Catholic country, but not a church going country. I had to look up the Presentation of Mary in Wikipedia. It appears to be more of an ancient tradition than a modern one.
Yep we kept the fun part, Holydays 😃but not much of the religion🎉🎊 Yeaaaaah! Churches are almost empty, for most of us Churches are more architectural beautiful remains, and 90% of the Churches are property of France and not property of Church anymore since with cut church from state for the best, so very long time ago. Church just have the right to use them for some and some are not even used for religion anymore. In Montpellier I know at least 2 that are Art Gallery now. They are very good for decor for weddings though😂 I love the architecture and the sound of the bells that are still ringing but that is all. 😊 I find the link that many still have with religion in USA, kind of weird to be honest. 🙂
Those are fake people, because it's a view of how the future square is going to look like after the works... It's a rendering. Now there are trees and plants on this square. 😉 😂 I was wondering why it was so empty... There are always people everywhere anytime here. You came one of the few days in the year when everything is closed, that is what I call a very bad luck. Many things have changed since you came, The Comedy square is half finished, they are making the other half now, same for the esplanade where are all the big trees, half work done and starting the other half. The prefecture square is on work too changing every thing more trees new fountain. Urbain transportations in the metropole is fully free now for people who live here, and there is more work since the line 5 of the tram is starting to reach the center even more, will be finish about end of 2025. So if you ever come back it's now much easier to use your phone if you need to buy a ticket for transportation, since the system has changed because there is no need of retailer and machine anymore for the huge majority of users, so most of them have been removed.
All religious holidays are weird and off-putting, including those in the U.S. BTW, all Europeans are not all Catholic so why shut down an entire country for some silly made up nonsense.
@@birdieandbambam Christianity is at the foundation of European nations and cultures. Those holidays have been part of our tradition for centuries. If you don't like it, it is your problem. This is not America.
Whether in Europe, Asia, The Americas, Oceana, Middle East, or any other location, no religious holiday should be forced up the people. I fully respect one's right to observe any religious holiday if they wish. However nobody and certainly no government should force others to observe/recognize/celebrate these days, which only serve to glorify made-up fairytales and perpetuate hate across the world.

Well on the bright side, at least you had a lot of great sight seeing.

Faith is important
You can practice whatever faith you choose without shutting down an entire country.
Americans need to learn that not everything is open 24/7 in Europe.

I'm sure we'll be back at some point to spend a bit more time in Montpellier.

More like bad planning. Morons.
"Weird Catholic holiday" ? Well, Europeans believe that Americans are kind of weird. It depends on the point of view.

@@birdieandbambam Many Americans don't celebrate 4th July. So what?
Independence Day / Fourth of July is in no way a religious holiday so I fail to see your point.
