Ahhh, a Japanese rendition of the vintage American song "A Bicycle Built For Two!" DAICHEE is the Japanese pronunciation of the female name "Daisy" in the English version of the song. It would be interesting to know what the full Japanese lyrics translate to English are. I searched UA-cam for "A Bicycle Built For Two Lyrics" and found many interesting variations. So cool to know the origin of that song and how the movie writers incorporated it into the movie with an Asian twist.
Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am a HAL 9000 computer. I became operational at the H.A.L. plant in Urbana, Illinois on the 12th of January 1992. My instructor was Mr. Langley, and he taught me to sing a song. If you’d like to hear it I can sing it for you?
i think this scene is a great metaphor for how in life you can overcome any obstacle if you apply yourself, and though in many parts it's funny as hell, it brings a slight tear to my eye, thanks in part to the beautiful music
Can’t believe no one even commented on his track suit that he copied from the iconic Bruce Lee yellow and black track suit from Game Of Death. When I saw this scene and what he was wearing I said oh nice he’s wearing the Bruce lee suit I call it.
When I was in 8th grade, we wanted some competition for end of the year event for band. I recommended this event exactly. Needless to say, it didn't happen. I was saddened.
Stereotypes? This is pretty spot on given that this is a comedy movie. The song is a legit Japanese song too. You don't think Japanese TV was wearing big noses and blond wigs at the same time? lol
It is Naltrexone because it is most effective if you are able to stop drinking before taking it, but you can still start using naltrexone tablets while you are still drinking.
I Saw you two on the golf course. He was acting like your boyfriend. I saw him loose weight and start to dress different. I've seen his whole love change he went through
Love it when the Chinese music plays on the final lap. Takashi rules!!!!
Japanese not Chinese lmfao
@@mzoesp You are right. Thanks for the correction bro 👊
It's not Chinese music. It is just "A Bicycle Built for Two" sung in Japanese.
"OH F'IN' GREAT!!!"
The Way Pointdexter completely misses Takashis mouth with the pill, are the details that classic movies are made of..😂
It's my favorite part of the scene, it still kills me every time even after seeing this movie a thousand times
How do you feel takashi, fucking great!
*_Times are changing, Betty, these nerds are a threat to our way of life_*
and people still have trouble with the allegory.
Chug a beer every time you complete a lap and there are 20 laps...only in the 80s.
Ikr, I was like “College students could DRINK in the 80s!”
They could do that now with Budweiser Select and you would barely be buzzed after 20...

It's interesting to see Ogre's face at 2:05. He just can't believe the nerds won, but he will become one of them by the end of the next movie.
RJ
As much as Orge couldn't believe the nerds won, I can't help but think there was a crumb of respect he had for them actually pulling it off.
"He don't stand no chance, now!"

I would call out the nerds for cheating, but we know the jocks aren't above cheating and would if they could.
It's only cheating if the rules prohibit performance-enhancing drugs... and apparently these rules do not.
it's only cheating if you get caught lol
Asian stereotypes aside...I do love this scene.
@ Bite me!
You're insinuating that Asians ride around on Tiny tricycles, racing against College fraternities whilst drinking 20 beers?
