Another Jazz Great is gone from the present music scene. He receives many accolades during his piano musicianship and artistical talented contributions to the Jazz medium during his time! I LOVE Jazz and have heard him working those keyboards! He will be missed! Rest in peace, Bro. McCoy!
Nice observation! The song itself has previously provided minor chords for the beginning of the tune, but on this go-through turns major (the melody notes work with both harmonies). Maybe the bass continuing minor while McCoy plays major was in recognition of that fact.
depuis mon berceau j'entendais t'as musique, maintenant que tu est en paix, jespere que tu est entre de bonne main et que tu es trouvé mon père sur le chemin , rip mr mccoy tyner
McCoy is perhaps the greatest jazz pianist ever. I love Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, and even Monk, but McCoy just flies! His technique is awesome and something to behold. Few in his class if any.
Mccoy Tyner is my biggest inspiration. I am a beginner composer and i've been inspired a lot to make music because of Mccoy, every time I hear his music it makes me want to make music. I'm still just starting though one of the songs inspired by him i posted on my channel and i would love feedback, im still no mccoy and probably never will be
When an idiot is trying to write “idiots“ … It‘s not about the style of playing, which is brilliant. It‘s about the mix with the bass in the foreground and the piano in the background.
McCoy and Oscar equally bow down and site Art Tatum as the greatest of the great. But what each player brought to the development of jazz was paradigm shifting and singularly significant to shaping the future of music. I don't think McCoy is generally acknowledged for his unequaled prowess as a modern era virtuoso nor for redefining what was possible for piano in ensemble playing. Nobody since has invented such podigious advancement in chordal and melodic melding, in both soloing and accompaniment as McCoy. To have the dynamic and rhythmic propulsion and notational mirroring to what John Coltrane was playing on saxophones, as expressed on piano, was a feat of nearly impossible technicality,. Until McCoy Tyner invented his approach.
I am so happy that I attended this concert live and sat nearby McCoy Tyner's piano.
Where? At Sweet Basil's years ago?
I am jelly.
Man what the hell, lucky
RIP McCoy Tyner one of the greatest pianist of all time you will be missed🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
He was 22..22 when he laid down the original solo...One of the Greatest pieces of Music ever recorded.

RIP, Mr. Tyner.
Amazing, soulful performance of one of my favorite songs! Love it!!!!!
1:15 McCoy is playing major but the bass stays minor and somehow it's beautiful.
What are you talking about???

I think you mean at 1:12 ?
It's interesting how the bass is always in natural through the whole song

McCoy thinks that Art Tatum is greatest soloist in the history of jazz.

The fact that Steve Davis never played a single sharp or flat note, and the fact that he stayed completely natural the whole time amazes me
コルトレーンと一緒に演奏していたやつも好きですけど、これも良いですね。

Pity that the bass is so loud.

The bass is louder than the solo, it's not a great mix
That is the way the jazzical music is supposed to be played. IDIOT'S!!!!!

he's great yes, but don't you or anyone ever!!!! compare him to art Tatum or oscar Peterson they are in a class by themselves!
What a stupid comment.
McCoy was more interesting harmonically imhop
