some folks just read the various forms of information out there, but you put it into a grandiose form whereby one can feel the tragedy, tumult and terrible glories of this most awesome flight of the imagination. The Custodes were fully engaged in the webway, slaying demons. Thousands were lost.
I love these guys. They're what Humanity could become eventually...not just stronger, tougher, and more mentally stable, but possessed of all human knowledge and the means to wield it well. If these guys are off duty, you can find them discussing philosophy, repairing their jetbikes, or painting a Cubist portrait of the current Fabricator-General, among other things. The only drawback is the suppression of a lot of emotions, and I don't want to gloss over the problems that might cause, but in all other things, this is where I want humans to go. I hope we make it there.
I wouldn't call it suppression per se, it's more of a perfect control over their minds. Suppression is a violent action, they have trascended emotions as we perceive them. Perhaps in time of peace the custodians might be more "human" but in the 40k millennia there is no time for frivolity. At least, I like to think of them this

Love the comparison between a space marine being a lasgun and a Custodian being a weapon forged by Vulkan himself. Few have ever encapsulated the Emperor's Praetorian guard so well
The slight difference in the background music from your regular track adds a really cool feeling of gravitas to it. It fits the custodes perfectly.
I had to watch that twice. When you do a video on a single army it becomes the definitive lore video to watch. Everyone else is just larping. Gamesworkshop should pay you, because you totally sold more Custode models. I have a few, but I need more now. Space wolves, Scions and Dark Eldar are just gonna have to play the side line for a bit. Well, until you do that Space Wolves video.

I feel like you missed one point. I think it was in one of the Word Bearers books. They watched the Custodians fight, as amazing fighters as they were, someone noticed a weakness. The Custodians fought singularly, where space marines fought in packs. Something to do with Argel Tal.

Thanks for the comment. This part was a deliberate omission, as the nature of how the Legio and any separate Sodalities fight will be covered in a later video on Custodes organization, strategy, and disposition.

That's by design trade off. Custodian must be at top of his game especially when alone.
You're stylistic choices for your videos, such as the music and the before mentioned emphasis you place on some words, really makes this the best 40K lore channel on UA-cam

Listened to this for the first time today. Hearing you say it’s your 1,000th subscriber special gave me goosebumps.
I feel this is the single best 40k lore video on UA-cam. The level of reverence you create for these characters is fantastic, and creates a clear understanding of how unique they are, especially their superiority to the Space Marines, who seem crude by comparison.

Defense is ever more daunting than attack. Every time I think about the emperor trapped in his golden throne surrounded by his golden boys, it makes me wonder how differently things might have gone if he had simply been honest about the nature of the Earp and the Imperial Webway project.

It's like they got Xzibit to design the custodes terminators, and he was like "Yo dawg I heard you like protecting the emperor, so we put your golden demigod inside a golden demigod, so you can protect the emperor while you protect the emperor!" 😂😂😂
They also got improved Terminator armor in the 42nd Millenium

When I was first getting into warhammer I fell in love with he custodes but I hated all the home made models and didn't even have the talent to try and emulate them. But now FW and GW are making a beautiful custodes line and I'm waist deep in them

As a massive fan of the Warhammer 40k lore I,
strangely enough, just found your channel recently. You truly do the emperors work. Brilliant Videos!
I come back to this record every few weeks, again and again. When i listen to it, i, without an exception, get goosebumps every time. The pure gravitas, personnal (human) humility and otherworldliness you put in your voice and choice of words is astonishing. With you getting better at recording and general video making, i can only wonder how this piece still stands out to me. You must have put everything into it. The song you used for this also stands out amongst your other videos.This is not meant to diminish the other works you have done. Everytime you upload, i don't to watch it instantly. I prepare. I get everything set up so that nothing may disturb me. I also don't eat, game or do anything else. I just sit perfectly still and listen to it without a pause, as your work is worth this buddhist approach.
I can only conclude this with my utmost gratitute for your work in the fandom. It is without a doubt more than welcome.
You'll be the first content creator on my long list that i will support when i will earn enough money to do so.

Keep up with the amazing content. Between your vocal delivery and your use of the related imagery, this really does feel like a record that could be found in some long-forgotten Imperial library.
You are the golden standard of lore content and execution. That being said, one minor editorial note: if something "cannot be understated" it is insignificant, beneath notice. When I listen to your sessions I can almost see an acolyte or initiate entering service to the Emperor listening to the same recording, sitting in some lumen globe lit alcove, absorbing the lore of the Imperium in preparation for their new tasks and duties. vitek2 totally agreed at the Gorgon has been underutilized, at least in fiction. Hoping his Primarchs novel changes that.
This channel and Archs channel are the best by far. Both have the week points but this fills the gap in Archs videos. We're Arch is bland yet funny this smacks of an audio books style, which I do injoy. Keep up the good work ! :)

This will sound like heresy but do the Custodes helmets look a little like Eldar construction? They also have massive genecraft skills and are peerless psykers. Did the Emperor use Eldar knowledge to devise the Custodes and their Wargear?

The Emperor didn't have to tell the Primarchs about the true nature of The Warp. He could've just said "Hey sons. I'm gonna go back to Terra to work on a brand new way of space travel that's much safer, faster, and over all much more reliable than using The Warp. Seeing as if we go through The Warp and we don't come out for years isn't really all that helpful for people who need reinforcements. So I'm gonna make that new way of travel now."

Ok but imagine being the ork that killed a custodes, I'm willing to bet the other two casualties were due to being completely crushed by vehicles or something but you just know there was a shoota boy dumbfounded -almost terrified- by his own dumb luck
(probably didn't live to gloat about it but if he did I'd expect him to triple in size via ego alone...)
So I turned this on my EarPods and got in the car and NPR was on the car radio playing late night happy classical Italian villa music (or something), so the chanting music of occulus mixed with the Italian music and I was not disappointed in the level of grim darkness. Ha!

Why, if they are the Emperors best assassins did the Emperor choose to employ Leeman Russ and the Space Wolves as his "own personal assassins" against other Legions Primarchs, captains and those who went against his plans or violated his wishes?
I understand that Leeman Russ was probably more dangerous than any single custodian but were his captains and retinue more dangerous then the custodes as well?

Actually the numbers of astartes during the Horus heresy reached the most in history with The sons of horus and ultra marines both reaching half a million each, with most other legions reaching 300,000
Where are the figures you are quoting taken from? As far as my research has shown, the Ultramarines were the largest legion pre-Heresy, but never got past 250,000 Astartes. The Word Bearers were the only comparable legion in terms of size, and even they never hit XIII level numbers. Needless to say Calth took a heavy toll on both, but no legion ever managed to get close to half a million.
