I know this feeling very well, on my dance team alone we have me(kinley), kinley h., kinzi, and McKinley. ALL ALMOST IDENTICALLY SOUNDING!!
I was there when they filmed this and my favorite part is when dalton says “settle” it just gets me every time and it just makes me laugh it’s the best part of the sketch 😂
Several years ago, there were 5 students named Brandon in the Algebra 2 class I taught. Thankfully, none of their last names matched!

It is hilarious that a guy named Kevin is shocked that someone else also has the same super common name.
I remember last year there was this kindergartener who had the same name as 2 other girls. All three of them were in different classes, and the one in the class I worked in said, "I don't want her to have the same name as me anymore! Ms. make her change it!" And I had to tell her that sometimes people can have the same names as us and we can become friends with them despite that. She wasn't all that happy, but she just pouted and walked away without much of a fight

Try going to a school in an area with a lot of Tibetan folk. From what I recall counting their names in the yearbook, in a high-school of I'm guessing around 300 people, 30-40 had the first name Tenzin, there'd be like 2-5 tenzins in any given class. Not to mention the probably 10 or so people who were calling Tenzing.
Suffice it to say, they all went by last names.

When I was in 1st grade one of my friends was named Viktoria. We then got another Viktoria. We called the one who was there first "Viktoria 1" and the other "Viktoria 2".
In my grade, there was a Jeff G. And I'm Jeff G. We had lockers together, we were in the same home room class. For the most part, we had some similar interests. Sometimes it got confusing.
My grade had two “Ella grace V”s at my small-ish school growing up

There's this recent Twilight Zone episode from a couple years ago, I wouldn't recommend it because of language and stuff, but part of the premise was everyone the main character Jeff meets is also named Jeff and I thought that was funny.

There were 2 Carolines in my class and they both hated each other for no real reason. They would always get into petty fights about who had the better life, etc., but it would always end in a draw. It was very entertaining but the next year there was only one Caroline and their war ended.
The title of this sketch (There's A New Kevin In Class) is actually a parody of the title of a Christmas song. You know. The Christmas song 🎵 There's A New Kid In Town

I have what I always thought was a relatively common name. And somehow I went to school and collage (twice) without ever studying with someone with the same name on the same class. And out of class I've always been refer by a nickname so it was never a problem.

There were two other Sarahs who also sat at my lunch table in high schools. I'm friends with 5 Sarahs on Facebook (including them) out of only 190 friends. And yet my name gets spelled Sara sometimes even though with an h is the more popular spelling and though they can (in a handful of cases) see my name written! Thanks for letting me vent.

There is a kid in my class named Hunter, and there is this kid in the other class named Hunter. So people had to tell them apart by saying their last names. And no I'm not gonna say them because of privacy reasons.

You know how this could have worked? The CLASS should have thought that Kevin the First was so cool, the other people should have been talking about how great it was to be Kevin, and then suddenly there's another Kevin and it creates confusion in the minds of the other classmates. Then Kevin 1 has to worry about losing his place as they debate Kevin 2 as the new cool kid, and he overreacts. Finally, Kevin 2 (after Kevin 1 melts down and pretty much begs him) uses a nickname or his middle name.
Then, when it is established that Jason is the THE Kevin, teacher reveals that he is also a Kevin, and suddenly Kevin isn't cool anymore.
And the random mosquitos are not involved at all.
Whoever wrote the old sketches back in the day, please hire that person. Half of the new cast seems like they have some talent, but Jason's return proves there is a failure of writing now.
I didn't get your scenario tbh. And a LOT of people liked this sketch (it wasn't my favorite but the backward part was impressive).
Maybe Jason just wanted to come back? Tori did too and she was new.
@@sarahberkner You need to have comic drop, relatability, and absurdity to make good comedy. Comedy uses a balance of relatable/absurd, thus the famous rule of three, two events to create a pattern and a third to break the pattern. That is why every joke is always something like "a priest, a minister, and a rabbi go into the bar," because the first two will create a pattern in their actions and the third will swerve in an absurdist way, creating comedy. Follow it up with a subversion of expectations, usually a stinger to end the sketch on a high note.
Jason talking himself up as how great it was to be Kevin did not work because it did not create sufficient comic drop. He just looks like weirdo who likes his name, so the stakes are small that there's a second Kevin. The bees are absurdist but no relatable. The bees bit may tickle the "lol so random" crowd, but that's possibly an even lower humor form than slapstick. You might just as well have had Dalton throw a pie in his face for no reason.
However, picture if the OTHERS in the room were talking up Kevin "Kevin's the coolest, Love that Kevin," pick your phraseology, it's a sketch so it doesn't have to be sublte. Suddenly a new Kevin is in the room. The other kids are start to transfer status to the new and better Kevin, which creates stakes for the first Kevin. Losing social status is a relatable problem for the audience (we've all been there). We see Kevin 1 (Jason) worry about losing his status in the herd, getting more insecure as the others talk up the virtues of the new Kevin as a better version of Kevin. Kevin 1 begins to panic, trying assert he's still the cool Kevin, fails, new Kevin looks even better. Finally, old Kevin basically begs Kevin to back off or change his name so Kevin 1 can assert his place in the pecking order. This scenario creates more and more absurdity, rising to the truly absurdist by the end.
Then, Kevin 2 relents, Kevin 1 is happy because everything is back to normal. THEN the teacher reveals he is also Kevin. Teachers aren't cool, so being Kevin isn't worth anything anymore. The old Kevin went through all that for NOTHING. This creates a subversion of expectations, closes with the stinger, and you're good to go.

Jason’s still doing Studio C? I thought he went with the group, I haven’t caught up in awhile. Humor really does depend on the actors…these new ones…just not funny.
A lot of content has just turned into “random equals funny” which is kinda sad.
I certainly don’t mind if they separate themselves from the OG with a different style of humor, but this kind is far less witty and more so goofy, which isn’t my taste.
I like humor with a bit more depth, but that’s just my preference. I hope they are at least enjoying it.
