I’ve never understood how non plane enthusiasts have such a hard time understanding why anyone would be interested in aircraft. If you think of everything in the world, planes are one of the coolest most interesting things around. They’re the pinnacle of engineering, technology and design. I never understood why people think plane spotters are weird.
I love planes and I am a pilot , but planespotting for me is strange. It's like loving cars but spending hours watching them drive past writing down their number plates. I would rather fly an aeroplane. I dunno, just not my cup of tea I guess.
Stefano Falcini I think it has to do with multiple things (I am a casual planespotter myself) : Planespotting comes pretty much free For the ones who have no possibility to fly yet it‘s the closest you can get to an aircraft Planes remain more fascinating (to this day, that might change in the future) than cars to watch cause obviously they fly, but not only that. They are loud, fast and big and every landing is different so that might catch ones interest. Also planes are not yet as common as cars. I mean who cares about hundred thousdands of boring cars driving by you every day. If i had the possibility to watch Ferrari‘s and big Mercedes/Audi/Porsche all day long and photograph them I might even do that. General aviation planes for me are absolutely boring to spot for me, it‘s mainly the big jets that are interesting. Even short haul aircrafts are not that fascinating to me anymore (in terms of simply spotting them)
@@TheLuxentertainment I can understand that completely. Maybe you should take up flying lessons as well ! Aviation is one big family at the end of the day :)
Stefano Falcini I‘m thinking about maybe taking glider lessons, but if not I‘m aiming to do the PPL one day anyways. Currently I‘m studying mechanical engineering at university though 😅 Yes it is :)
If you don’t get plane spotting, go and stand on the mound at manchester airport at the foot of R23L and watch/listen/feel a Virgin Atlantic 747 take off. It even amazed the wife. Congratts to Big Jet TV!!!
Jerry did a tree-mendous job @ 23L . I watched yesterday morning with flightradar24 running on another monitor and could see all the activity at Heathrow....great show.
Big Jet TV is great! Jerry's expertise and witty commentary is so entertaining and educational. The channel members, many of which are pilots and aviation experts themselves, are very helpful and friendly. I have learned so much about aviation being a member.
I have been aircraft spotting for just over 40 years and it has truly evolved. I started off at Manchester (which is my home drome) standing at the side of the runway or going on the Piers into the "Glass House" in the days before enhanced security and expansion took over, with binoculars and notebook in hand. The pier access has long gone. Then went over to the RVP, known then as the AVP. Now, ill health beats me sometimes. But I have gone with the technology and have had for over 10 years a fully set up personal ADS-B (Virtual Radar) system running at home, with an aerial on the roof receiving signals. I live under the approach to Manchester 23R so it works for me. I can see on my screen everything live (unless the aircraft isn't transmitting on Mode-S) 40 miles around me. This morning I have "Bagged" an Ethiopian Airlines B789 and a couple of Biz Jets to go in the book, so not a bad start to the day. One day I will take my system mobile (Just a laptop, ADS-B Box (SBS-1) with a Magmount mobile aerial and metal biscuit tin lid to act as a ground plane) and take it down to Heathrow.
Jerry on BIG JET TV is fantastic. He has an outrageous extroverted personality that really makes his channel exciting to watch . I think he could make watching a car's brake being changed be exciting. If you want to see one of his videos at his best. Go to BIG JET TV and look for videos about Storm Ciara. This was a day that jets were landing at Heathrow with a 90km/hr crosswind.
I was as a kid a Train (in the days of steam) spotter. Cold grey wet Saturday morning at Clapham Junction, London. Collecting numbers as these giants thundered through the station. So I can totally understand the enthusiasm these people have for aircraft. And in a crazy, stupid world I (who knows nothing about passenger aircraft but is starting to learn, thanks to Jerry.) Sit and watch and enjoy the calmness that comes over me....... Until...... Jerry STARTS TO SING..... 😮
Planespotting is unique. Nobody ever says "Let's go to the A1 do some car spotting" or "Let's visit the Thames Estuary to see some boats." That's why I love it!
Weird (by perspective of non aircraft lover) and great concept !!! After all history has proved that weird thinkers turned out to be the legends. I love aircrafts too, I believe every aircraft lover does spot the plane, but this man took it to next level.
Plane spotting is kind of strange but am addicted to watch BIG JET TV.. am an honest person so I will say, I don’t know if am watching to see if a plane crashes or I just admire the skill of the pilots!! Of course I hope no-one ever gets hurt but I hope others can relate.
I love watching Jerry I tell you I have learnt so much about planes and the running of everything it's great to hear his enthusiasm about them and he is out in all weathers. A must watch is the storm Ciara one he did back in February he has members all around the world, just a good bloke all round.
Since storm Ciara you see the real Jerry coming out. He is unhinged, he really needs some anger management classes. He had a major tantrum yesterday that should have been embarrassing. Pretentious, authoritarian, narcissistic "good bloke"...
I miss sitting on the upper deck of X26 to Heathrow and watching the heavies either landing or taking off as the road runs parallel to the runway. Heathrow is a paradise for any aviation enthusiast!
motogp win I was in that very parking lot watching planes a few weeks back staying in the Renaissance Hotel before our flight back home. What a great place to watch planes at Heathrow!
He's cool guy from Great Britain. change the way of plane spotting. When I watch i just assume that I am there close to the aircraft taking off and landing into the aerodrome's vicinity

Vehicles in general are underrated by most people.

@@nathanrock5068 yes they did
Matthew Gut well yeah if they didn’t they would more than likely be dead 😂

Jerry is so enthusiastic and has a great sense of humour......just love his shows!

I love it when Jerry says “ Flippin a!”
He’s got more enthusiasm in his voice than the chap reporting for the bbc! 😂
Because Jerry is a manic bi-polar that is absolutely unhinged.
Jealousy is a cancer
That 787 at the beginning was a Ryanair 737 in the Disguise Of BA 787
Lmao
Swiss001
Ryanair does not do go-arounds.
I can confirm that he is indeed, The man.

Anyone know what car park that is? Can never find a decent place to come and sit for a while to see some planes up close at Heathrow
abingdonboy I wanna do the same. There is a Hilton hotel that apparently you have a good view from the bar balcony. Better look on google maps
It’s the renaissance hotel
Renaissance Hotel, not a cheap place to park. Better take a bus.

Connor Baker I noticed that, what was up with him
