- © 1993, 1995 Noteworthy Records. The phenomenal US debut from Filipino pianist/keyboardist Boy Katindig. Originally released in '93 as Journey To Love, this is a very rare and hard to find album that I've had on CD since the early '00s. "Road To Rio" is my favorite from this one, it's just such a killer groove...then again, so is the whole album!
1. Road To Rio 0:00
2. Puerto Princessa 4:41
3. Flame-Ingo 9:22
4. Dream Lover 14:21
5. New York Nights 18:18
6. Journey To Love 24:31
7. Venice 29:45
8. Montego 35:54
9. Cafe Bahia 42:31
Keyboards, Drum Programming, Synth-bass - Boy Katindig
Saxophone - Michael Acosta
Vocals - Loyce Bentley
Catching a mixture of vibes: Rippingtons, Dave Grusin, Special EFX, Alex Bugnon. This is solid album!
Agreed! And a bit of Jeff Lorber on that first track! 😎

Wow!!!! Super positive music 🌅😎🎧👍
Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Niiiice!
Love "Puerto Princessa". Wonderful moments in Em !
This is the US debut but his LPs released in the Philippines are equally outstanding!
Beautiful. Venice is an elegant example of what fusion is. Very GRP influenced artist.
One of my favorite jazz artist. I still keep his "After Midnight" album.
I have to admit this is very mature (debut!) and interesting music. Very good record, it's a pity hard to find. As always - Thank You Mr Kyle!
Oh! I went to Yokohama to buy this CD!
"New York Nights", I found out about this song by chance and was intrigued.
Thank you Mr. Kyle, for featuring a kababayan in your channel.
A jazzie Monday 🎧🎧🎧👋👋👋
Nice pick! Inspiring creation and performance
Awesome thanks
Great album!!! Thanks for upload from Philippines 🇵🇭
Fusion 90s. I like it
I still have a CD of this Boy Katindig album! I know Katindig released internationally a previous album "In Time" in 1990 (but maybe it was a limited release?). At the time, I only bought a cassette tape of "In Time". Both albums are outstanding (as well as ALL of Katindig's earlier recordings since the late '70s)! Btw, Noteworthy Records in the '90s also had saxman Michael Paolo as B.K.'s labelmate.
I love the track "Puerto Princessa"!
You got me. Never heard of this one. Very, very good album, thanks!
Wow - really nice - reminds me a lot of Dave Grusin in places!
Greetings Mr Kyle, and thank you for sharing this. Peace and Blessings
Unique Album gem of 1993.
Excellent pop Fusion👍
Genial!!... Muchas Gracias!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this!
Like garantindo vou ouvir amanhã no trabalho ..
The album cover is not typical of smooth jazz covers in general, it looks like a 70's progressive rock style. But I like it. Thank Mr. Kyle
Exactly the way I saw it too! There are always amazing finds on here 🙌🏼👏🏼👌🏼
That's a famous woodblock print from long ago
@@mr.esfusioncollect8494 Fascinating, I'll try Google image search to find out the artist 😎🤙🏼
The first song reminds me of the Jeff Lorber Fusion group in the early 80's. And also the Rippingtons. This is really great music!
Just got my hands on the CD. This is a fantastic album Kyle - has a dreamy feeling that reminds me a lot of what I loved about Brian Culbertson's debut Long Night Out.
Amazing debut! Thanks for sharing, Kyle!
Thanks for featuring our homegrown talent and one of my favorites among the very few Filipino jazz fusion artists that the Philippines has produced. He is also the only Filipino jazz artist that I know of that played @ Carnegie Hall. Pls correct me if I'm wrong. I have all his albums in vinyl :) My all time favorite which I still listen to after 40 years is "Still September".
the first track is my favorite, incredible gem you have posted, thanks a lot Kyle
Thanks for this great music
Wow Cool 😎☕
Keep it up! Your channel is making many artists discogs complete bc on Spotify not everything is listed.

❤❤❤❤
Hey Kyle been awhile since we've heard from you! Hope you are recovering successfully from your illness. Hope you're able to get back to doing your thing soon!
This is very nice same like sound jazz koinonia
Road to Rio is unreal good. Very similar to 'Why Not' by Michel Camilo in parts, certainly not a bad thing though!
Hey Kyle, I just tried to post a comment with this question, but it looks like UA-cam must have blocked it from being posted because I included a link to a non-UA-cam page. Having said that, I was just wondering if you could help me identify a song that sounds like it would've been recorded in the late 1980s/early 1990s. The song itself was sampled by a modern artist.
Here's a link to the song that was uploaded to UA-cam:
ua-cam.com/video/qso6RP8tm_U/v-deo.html
The artist who sampled it recorded vocals over most of it, but ~1:10 - 1:19 includes a brief portion of the original song without the added vocals.
Would greatly appreciate it if you could help me ID this song!
Thanks
it's filipino not philipino
The best track is Venice. Which incidentally used to be a staple on CD 101.9 in the mid 1990's. The rest I'm afraid is easily forgettable fluff.
I respectfully disagree 100%. It's a great album from top to bottom.
