  • Any Gaelic speakers out there wanna help me with my pronunciation? :)
One of the most beautiful songs I know. During British colonial occupation of Ireland, when speaking Gaelic was against the law, this love song served as a symbol of resistance and resilience. The "fair haired boy" described and longed for in the song is code for the land of Ireland herself. It's a love song to the spirit of place & to the mystery of 'home'. I feel this.
I wove in one of my own 'Empty Pockets' there at the end.
Thank you Lucia Thomas for reimagining this tune with me on the spot !
live at the Jarvis Square Pottery in Chicago on 4/20/2024
