Riot Games presents Arcane, a new animated streaming television series on Netflix from the world of League of Legends. In the cities of Piltover and Zaun, unrest stirs as inventors and thieves, politicians and crime lords chafe against the constraints of a society torn asunder. The best decision I made in a while was to watch Arcane with good headphones. The sound design and music in this show is just out of this world

I love how this quote determines how this fight goes. It's not an endurance test, it's all about speed for Ekko.
He recalled the time of his youth and adapted. He's such a smart character. Always said ekko was my favorite champ I never played.

Ekko vs Jinx is pure cinematic masterclass. Arcane has raised the bars on animation, and I could genuinely say it reseted the genre just like Spiderverse. Absolute masterpeice.
yeah arcane and spiderverse have very similar animation style and i really like it i think more movies should have that animation or something similar
I love how the animations for Arcan and Spiderverse actually feel like they were drawn and I think that rawness makes it so realistic somehow.

This fight was the best storytelling in the whole season.
First, they show a flashback to Ekko and Jinx as children playing, highlighting the tragedy of their past friendship.
The scene serves a double purpose of explaining how Ekko uses his intellect to anticipate her moves based on what they did as children.
Then it rewinds back to the beginning, and Ekko ends the fight in seconds because he has her figured out.
It's the perfect blend of art, action, and storytelling.
You forgot about Ekko's ability to rewind time in the future.

The thing is... I don't like watching movies at all. I always leave like in 5 minutes or fall asleep in the cinema. But arcane made me bingewatch it, then rewatch it, then rewatch some parts. You cant imagine what these series made me tell. My friends don't understand my obsession now, only those who I made obsessed over arcane too.
The irony is it only magnified our thirst for it and subsequently raised the standard. We've been this road before with so many others. Let's hope the conclusion will be satisfying as well.

@@johnvermintide i feel like they only made skins for characters who were realised, as in who actually used abilities and weapons in the show as they do in game. ekko and viktor still didn't get chromotrigger and augmentations respectively, as well as heimer still being pacifist and singed is still mostly working and not fighting

The music for arcane is one of the most underrated parts of it. Everyone talking about the animations, the story writing, and the characters but the music is top notch also. Arcane is top tier on all fronts.
An absolutely masterpiece for sure. It never comes up short. Let's hope we get Arcane 2 within the next year or two; I heard that this season has been in production for like 5 years.

Minor detail but Riot allowing the featured artists to swear on the tracks compared to the songs used for worlds or other promos drives home the authentic grittiness of the events that take place in the show. They weren't afraid to show people fucking, doing drugs/and fiending for a re-up, getting murked and breathing their last breaths, even kids. Only makes sense that accompanying osts didn't have the censorship cap as well. Huge 180 from the times Graves couldn't have a cigar and nothing short of commendable for this experience that was season 1. They were in their fucking bag man. 🙌🏿
When Jayce and Mel are looking at the dead enforcers on the bridge, the one around the middle of the bunch has straight up leaked slushy brains, due to Jinx shooting him. I understand why Jayce threw up.
I was honestly shocked how dark it got. I think it was Christian Linke or Alex Yee who said that they pushed it as far as they possibly could within the rating, and I honestly believe it. Sex scenes, child death, blood spatter, dark themes of decadence and decay, drug use and authoritarian police states.
They really did the characters justice. They took a bunch of silly 10-20 line characters and turned them into real characters with deep personal traumas that actually explain why they are the way they are.
Jinx is a fun character on the surface, but much like the Joker she beggars the question: "What does it take to drive a person to that point?". Jinx isn't destroying robots and blowing up empty buildings, she's a murderer and a terrorist. Vi isn't going "Oh, my silly crazy sister's at it again, time to try and stop her", we see her heart actively break on screen.
Gaaaah give me season 2 now. Inject that shit straight into my veins like an underground shimmer addict.
Don't expect it to change for the game or esports tho, this is an exception for the show I'm pretty sure

@@Kevster921 That final scene where Powder accepted being the Jinx and fired that final shot at the council had me gasping. I just stared at the screen of my phone until the credits ended. It was so heartbreaking man.
The lyrics to this song are actually sick especially the 'In this gothic underground city, we all sin' part, it describes Zaun so well and the confidence in the rap part just speaks entirely of Ekko, who survived on the streets of Zaun by himself and pieced together the Firelights to stop Shimmer from hurting people
and the part of "uh yeah he mad im rocking up white diamonds"... that part sounds like somenthing jinx would answer

I just hate that they had to put some generic bullshit like "snap your ex" in the lyrics among other things. The first minute is great, then it just kinda becomes background music.

The reason Ekko hesitated punching last blow is that although Ekko kept saying 'Powder is gone", Powder was still inside of Jinx. She still acts same as Powder's behavior so Ekko could remember her in their little game from good old time and predicted perfectly to beat her. So sad he had to recall happy childhood's memory to use as method for killing his once best friend.

"The Boy Savior" is such a conceptually cool episode on top of the emotional weight of its great story and showing us all Ekko 7 years later. It reminded me of the nostalgic homage episodes in Cowboy Bebop, where some of them had experimental elements to reference different types of films. And the music only enhances these artistic choices, it's spectacular.
Why does this slap as much as it does?
Denzel killing it but everyone else, the production, direction... The art and animation... Deserves every single bit of praise if gets. Phenomenal.

I really want Hollywood and all these movie companies to watch this show just to remind themselves how good composition, music, and art should be combined. I think this show reminds us how quality and money need to be invested.

We achieved the true potential of animation with this series. Don't get me wrong there animated movies and even series that have this emotional core (watch Gargoyles and Treasure Planet), but since then animation has been treated as a genre and not a medium.
Arcane has proved to the modern market what you can truly do with animation, Ekko vs Jinx makes fights in 90% of movies look like children bickering.
Compare this to flaccid fight between the Sentinels and Viego. Polar opposites in tone, creativity and emotion. This show is so loaded with subtle visual story telling that it’s hard to look at anything else that riot puts out for their events.

@@matthewknudson8610 such an ignorant comment, are you aware that the sentinels show was captured using REAL TIME motion capture? We simply aren't technologically there yet to have real-time graphics mimic the same quality of a PRE-RENDERED show without compromising in quality.
I am obsessed with the show and with this song. Been listening to it on repeat. This scene went so hard, and Curry is one of the best rappers of this generation. Big up to Gizzle and Bren Joy as well ofc, they absolutely killed it.

Its more directed at Silco who has corrupted and manipulated his friend Jinx - they share a special bond ... remember Ekko hesitates when he brings down Jinx.
@@mikespike2099 i think that thats what op meant: hes ready to kill jinx because she represents silco's venomous influence on the undercity. but then a little bit of powder leaks out right before ekko can land the killing blow, and he's caught completely off-guard: jinx and powder are two completely different people, and while ekko is more than willing to burn down the festering mind behind jinx, he might never be ready to kill what remains of his closest friend (and former crush at some point from what ive heard).
Arcane is so well done that it's really hard for me to pick out a favorite scene from the show, but if I had to it would be this one. The animation style and music already make it a great scene, but the backstory behind Ekko and Jinx in this scene really pushes this one over the top. Season 2 can't come fast enough.
My first spot is a tie between this scene, the scene where VI and Jayce fight using Hextech weaponry, and the scene where Vi and Savika fight in The last drop.
GOD if I could inject an entire scene from media into my veins directly, it would be this entire sequence. The style change, the music, the context of Ekko and Jinx's previous relationship, all of it. Arcane is one of those rare shows that just knocked EVERY facet possible out of the park. I got my parents, especially my dad, who know nothing about League into it, and we're all so excited for season 2 whenever we're blessed with it. If this show doesn't absolutely sweep awards season this year, I'll be shocked.

I just love that ever since true damage Ekko is just always accompanied by rap. It just feels like it fits him, knowing his backstory now.

One of the best fight scenes I've ever seen period. The art, music, letting the relationship/history between them out in the open as part of the fight. The feels at the end. Perfection.
I would say it was the best, but the hallway fight in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was pretty damn good too. Can't decide. This one wins on emotion for sure.

going back and listening I realize that its as if the switch between whose rapping is like ekko's pov and jinx's pov. i mean they see zaun in different lights too - a dynasty and a dystopia but that could also be how they view piltover. god its such a good song
