XCom 2 actually assumes the player lost the campaign in the first game, which is technically the bad ending, as the player's side, (The humans) are the good guys.
you encounter a nosalis mother guarding her young children and if you kill them you lose morality points, the screen flashes white, and when you save that kid, the mother offers you bullets and you can take it or refuse it so that affects your morality too. And if you send that warning message the dying guy gives you I think you get good morality points too.
thanks for explanation. But that's just dumb. let's spare this creature's children. They are seen as vicious animals that kill humans on sight. And I don't remember even having a choice for the bullets, it was just given to me. But I digress. Game was great nevertheless.
They should have just had the nuke ending and taken the choice out of it. I chose to spare them and then played last light and it's based around the nuke ending anyway.
This is one the most immersive games I have ever played. I listened very carefully to what Khan said, and during a certain vision one of the dark ones actually helped Artyom move forward to the light by grabbing his arm and pushing him. I knew at that point that these beings aren't actually hostile. Then right after Hunter gave his revolver and said "If it's hostile, you kill it." I knew that was another hint for me, so I waited and didn't shoot the Dark One. My idea was to wait and see if it's hostile or not, because I haven't encountered a dark one that actually harmed me intentionally before the final sequal. And then, Artyom fell from the tower, this disappointed me greatly. Then I searched online if there will be an actual choice later on in the game, but it turns out the "good ending" was locked behind a unique and scripted set of deeds that no one would have anticipated. I gave a bullet to anyone who was in need of one, I didn't even take the bullet one of the women gave me for saving her son. I tried to use stealth as much as possible but turns out you need to search online for exactly what you should do in order to get the good ending, instead of actually being a good person without knowing that payoff. There should have been an option at the end of the game during the countdown, like we have seen a couple times during the game (For example: LMB=Ready and RMB=Not Ready). Nonetheless, this is still one of the most immersive games I have played. 4A Games've managed to do something absolutely fascinating, now they only need to look back and improve what they can for the upcoming Metro game. If they manage to improve the right aspect of the game, there is a huge chance that it will be a game that will influence the gaming community for years to come.
i did exactly what you did, i waited to see if the last dark one was hostile or not, and it did disappointed me the same way as you, but then at the las 5 seconds i hear the Dark one say, "we want peace" and the only think that came to my mind was shoot that mother fcking machine and just like that i got the "good ending" witch i love btw; it really disappointed me that you really had to shot the dark one in the vision because it just didn't make sence, but after all that non-sence it is a really inmersive and beautifull game.
Yeah loved the game (save for a few annoying bugs) but that system where you can't choose your ending because you haven't grinded enough moral points is stupid. You practically need a walkthrough to unlock the choice, I explored every corner, gave money to beggards, heard conversations, refused the bullets etc and still didn't get a choice.
Same here, that moment when you fall off the tower after not shooting the dark one totally destroyed all the build-up up to that moment, I didn´t kill anyone in the stealth sections, I gave bullets to beggars, refused the bullet the mom offered, all that amounted to nothing. Dissapointed.
4A learned from their mistakes with Exodus. In Exodus there isn't any weird series of actions you have to take to get the good ending. As long as you kill only when you have to, and generally just be a good person you will get the good ending (Which from the looks of things is also the canon ending).
hold up now The dark one never appeared on the tower with me in my first run. I just walked up to the laser and let the missiles go is that because I blasted the shit outta him in the vision?
Late reply, but I killed the dark one in the vision with headshots as he got close and also got no dark one in the real world not even a chance to shoot the homing system, not that I wanted to.. Makes me wonder if it was lack of moral points (I got lots) or the fact I had aim compared to the guy who made the video who was just shooting to shoot
In the book, the dark ones make him pass out then tell him pretty much everything about them, just as he understands that they really aren’t a threat the missiles are launched and the dark ones are destroyed... it was ironic how they stopped their own savior from saving them...
Also their not monsters, just mutated humans and or a new form of life, it’s not clear in the book... then again the books translated from Russian, and I know very little Russian... and it’s hard to translate... and no I legitimately know some of the language, not just cyka blyat
I don’t think there’s a good and bad ending. There’s true, and alternate ending. Minor spoiler. True ending: artyom did nuke the dark ones which leads to metro last light. Alternate ending: artyom saved the dark ones.
i would love to see some bits of what happened after the alternate ending... i fuckin hate those cliffhangers. even though it is then in the hands of the audience to make up their ending so it can live up to their expectations, i would still choose to hear it from the one who made the rest of the storry, even if i wouldn't like the ending. so i could find out how it was intended to go,
I nuked the dark ones and thought that was the good ending, I’m confused. It’s certainly the canon ending because in Last Light you nuked the Dark Ones.
The Dark Ones aren't evil; Nuking the dark ones is like nuking a bunch of animals because people don't understand it In the scene where Bourbon is getting crazy because of the mushrooms, a Dark One actually helps you and Bourbon
@@slav1616 Yes but Artyom has no idea and in my opinion it makes more sense. If they wanted to implement two endings they should've made it if you shoot the dark one or not.
@@mattiashenning7717 No, shooting the Dark One makes him show up outside of the vision or else you’d never see him. They reach out to him MANY times throughout the game, and the end is just the culmination of the visions as you’re presented with the final choice of the game. It made perfect sense.
Kahn's sermon about forgiveness and Ullman's tips about complete stealth were wasted on you 😂. You could get enough "good" points by listening to what NPCs have to say (eavesdropping on enemy's conversations too), and giving bullets to every beggar in friendly stations, or by saving prisoners and finding stashes in hostile levels... enough to go berserk against every hostile human😈 and still get the good ending 😇.
I like that even though I chose the 'bad' ending, I feel it is possible to call both of them good endings. I picked up on it from my playthrough, the idea that they were just trying to communicate, but in character, I felt compelled to protect human life. After all, we're arguably the last of humanity living in a fucking tunnel system. We're killing each other enough, we don't need something else doing it. I could see however someone not picking up on that in the story. Either not paying attention, or just not putting it together. I'd say from that perspective it's reasonable to go ahead and launch the missiles. As far as Artyom knew, he was saving the world.
I haven't read the book, but I just finished the game. At first I saved them, feeling like I did the right thing. THen... I realized what hypocrisy it was to let them live while they themselves started the whole damn thing by slaughtering our people in unprovoked attacks. So I went back just to spite them and chose differently; I killed off the Dark Ones with absolutely no remorse whatsoever. The whole plot was that we needed help to defend ourselves from the Dark Ones as THEY were attacking our station. And then they had the balls to try to guilt-trip us into both feeling sorry for them and feeling ashamed of our own actions. "We want peace".. bullshit. Tell that to the good guards and people of the stations you killed. "Bad ending"? Pah! I'd call it the genuine "you reap what you sew, bitches"-ending. This time, humanity really were the good guys and no amount of saccharine soul-searching slush can convince me otherwise.
TheMofoHeister fucking how?? These cunts try to kill you every chance they get. I would’ve felt bad if hey actually tried to spare the humans but they don’t.
@@lad7436 They literally point out to you that the dark ones are not "Peaceful" causing humans to suffer long and agonizingly painful deaths filled with insanity, Your definition of "Peaceful" is fucked up.
There is a slight difference in the ending speech in both Russian and English dub First with the good ending, in Russian it countinues with: " ....endless Metro Tunnel, and maybe someday, we will deserve the light which is at the end of this Tunnel". And in the Russian the speech ends with: "protecting my home - the Metro" and thats it no further questioning whether he did the right thing.
4 роки тому+3
I think the " bad " ending is more precise for this game. Imagine you being Artyom, dark ones said " he must be destroyed" and all your works or friends who died will go to waste. No way sparing dark ones without knowing them
I called them god/bad endings because that's how they are called by most people. In reality there's the canonical ending where Artyom chose to proceed with the missile strike against the Dark Ones (this is what is present in the novel and is the premise of the sequel) and the alternate non-canon ending you can choose if you have enough "moral points".
Luis Correia Correct i just hate reading these comments on some videos like "i shit i got the bad ending" and im just sitting there and holding my head :D they act like it's a real "bad" ending.
"Technically" there is, considering in the game files, the devs labeled the videos that play during this sequence as "outro_bad.ogv" and "outro_good.ogv", but yeah, it's probs better to call them "Non-Peaceful" and "Peaceful" respectively
That's what happens when you adapt a book series to game, it's "stupid" but if you just go with it the series is amazing. They wanted to stay true to the books and they just can't if you go off and do things differently as a player, the dark ones get nuked in the first book so they get nuked at the end of the first game.
Because of the books. And sadly the good ending is not prone to us as humans in general. Bad ending is good actually. Shows us what we get when we fuck things up. It's close to us as humans as well.
I love Metro and I think it's one of the greatest post-apocalyptic game series out there but god damn the karma system is a pile of whore shit. How does killing murderers and rapists to protect myself and other people an immoral injustice? Haven't you seen any post apocalyptic show or game? The good guys always die first and in my opinion killing scum bags in self defense like the Nazi and Communist groups is not in any way immoral. I just wish the karma system was tweaked, if it was this game would be perfect.
its only counts negative if you sneak up on them and stab them if you shoot them, stab them (not sneaking) or even throw a knife at them it wont count as bad karma
Yeah, listening to other people's conversation or running around while abandoning your partner just to reach a certain room is good moral? I think the creator's logic needs to be fixed.
+NikeGamer15 You seem not to be entirely sure about how the system works. You can kill all enemies that are hostile, but if they don't even see you and pose no threat to you, you don't have to kill them. There are, for example, creatures that won't attack you if you don't come closer to them. Same with some nazis. Some nazis just give up and beg you to spare their lives. You don't have to kill them either. This gives moral points. Also, listening to conversations and denying the cartridges from the woman whose son you saved, gives a lot, as well.
+Eric Lin There are no conversations that play during the time when you have to follow a companion, so I don't really know what you're talking about. The only valuable conversations that are worth listening to are being heard when you're alone.
The peace ending was pretty stupid. He came all this way and lost all those people, dead set on destroying them and then in the last second, one of them says: 'we want peace' and he just figures 'fuck it' and saves them all. It all felt really fast and forced. The game really suffered from it's plot but I suppose it was a YA novel adaptation(I assume it's YA?)
+Brad Woodhouse You are wrong. The irony here is that they did die for nothing if you KILL the dark ones. It means you learned nothing throughout the game about not judging first before understanding. You just a assume that they must be killed in order to save yourselves. The point is that you are doing essentially the same thing that ended the world. It's actually funny how badly you missed the entire point of the novel/game. Also, losing a few people does not justify committing genocide.
There were always instances where you could consider sparing them. You didn't always have to run from the dark ones and you didn't always have to kill. Plus there was Khan. I think whether or not you're deadset on destroying them mainly depends on the players thoughts alone.
really, it must be bad ending, because in the game and the next book, it's the last one of the Dark One. And in Last light it must be good ending, but in order to connect the two narrative threads, in 2033 you have to bang the bombs
I got the missile ending but, in mine there was no Dark one that i had to finish off after i killed him in the dream world, it just went straight into the endgame cutscene.
Same here man. Was it your first play through? Mine was. Apparently you need high “moral points” to get to choose. Which I knew about before playing, but I still didn’t get the choice even after making that decision to do good.
To clear things up for people: You need to get a certain amount of "moral points" to get both of these endings. Because in reality, there are only 2 endings. The good and the bad one. The good one is achieved by getting many moral points (like sparing monsters lives, listening to people having conversations about their lives or family, saying no thanks to the woman offering you cartridges, etc etc). If you, however, don't do this, you'll get the bad ending. In the bad ending, you have no choice; it launches the missiles whatever you do. In the good ending, you are given the chance of cancelling the missiles, but you can also let it go and still wait 20 seconds for them to launch - and the "bad" ending will play. Off topic; I just completed Metro 2033 Redux for the fourth time and got the "good" ending for the first time. It's not a big difference in moral points in this game, it seems. I ALWAYS deny the offer of cartridges from the woman, and spare some monsters that doesnt even see me (to spare ammo, mostly, but still xD) but this time I actually listened to many of the conversations, which I think gives you extra points. I really like the "good" ending. They should've made it so Last Light doesn't rely on that Artyom destroyed the Dark One's place, but then again, that doesn't follow the books. :(
I think it's good that Last Light continues from this ending because otherwise a lot of people wouldn't be able to continue since it's hard to even get to that ending.
Wait. I dont know what ending I got lol. The missiles were launched and there was the explosion, but I never shot the Dark One on top of the tower? After I got up it just went straight to the launch. Is this some sort of middle ending?
Yeah, you got the "bad" ending, which was not shown in the video. The video showed the 2 possible outcomes of the "good" ending. You either cancel the missiles, or ignore the dark ones and still launch them. In the bad ending, however, you are not given that choise and the missiles will launch no matter what you do. To get the good ending you need a certain amount of moral points, for example sparing enemies, denying any kind offers from strangers, and listening to people's conversations can give you moral points.
Ok people here's the deal, there's a moral point system to this game, so if you didn't donate ur cartilages to the various homeless or deny the cartridges offered to you by the lady who's son you save in the cursed metro, then you won't get to have a choice in the end game and it'll only give you the supposed "bad" ending, but really no ending is bad because either way you sorts save your people
not only these, there is much more moral points, just sniff every where on environment, listen to dialogues - enjoy the game, and go stealth way - which is even more fun to me :) + one of the bigger koeficients on moral point is sending SOS from roof.
+Em Dunois i have the same issue just takes me back to the main menu. i also noticed i dont have the opening cutscene when i start up the game, just takes me straight to the main menu. bummer because i love the guitar rhythm
+Em Dunois +Riley Herbert +Anonymous surfer I only just got round to playing this game, finished it a few minutes ago. I have the exact same problem! Hunter gives you a revolver, empty the clip to kill the dark one, then all I hear is "missile launch complete" (I didn't get enough moral points for the enlightened ending) and fade to black/main menu. Absolutely unbelievable that the ending and cutscene would glitch out like this. So frustrating! From what I can see online there's no fix either. Gutted. Does anyone know if there are problems with Last Light? I'm not going to bother playing through if there are...
Anonymous surfer Yeah I'm fine with the moral points thing. I killed pretty much everyone in my 2033 play through so I got what I deserved ending-wise lol. I just don't want any more glitches in Last Light, because it ruined the ending of 2033, an otherwise great game.
To all you soldiers coming back to the beginning of the adventure since Exodus was just released, enjoy the ride, take your time and have a blast or two 😎
I forgot to broadcast for polis, but I did turn down the ammunition, but half way into the game i found out that you didn't have to kill in stealth. So it launched the missiles either way, but i did it with a clear conscience, mainly for Miller and Bourbon.
Wido08GP no i mean at the end of metro 2033 when u have the choice of killing the dark ones or sparing them. i wish that last light had an alternative setting where u spare them and their not dead
He means that your choice from Metro 2033 carries over to this. So at the start of Last ligth they are still alive, even though that would break the entire game.....
GamCal Because it's completely hidden from the average player if you don't read outside sources, it's full of arbitrary things, only like 2 of the points you get are from choices, the rest are from finding tiny little random things and happening to press the right buttons, and, oh yeah, they result in a non-canon ending.
haha I'm the type of player who sniffs around every corner, listens to every dialogues and playing stealth. am I supposed to get bad ending? no. so when u do like this you get good cos u act good in the game. when u kill everybody on sight and not look at every corner, u don't deserve good ending.
Mistikei Except you get "bad" points for being too inquisitive sometimes, like listening to a conversation. Also, I fail to see how strumming a guitar or seeing a bird or something means you're a good person.
I don't even know how, but I got the bad ending and didn't even get a cutscene. I gave bullets to the needy, refused payments, saved the kid, and still couldn't get the good ending. And like I said, the cutscene didn't even play. Artyom just wakes up with a dead Dark One and the message of the missiles in flight and bam, black screen. How woefully unsatisfying.
Im playing the Redux version. I repeated that ending a few times now, but all the times after i kill it, the missles are launched. He shows up in the stairs for me, but dead. What do i need to do to have that second ending?
+XadowMonzter You only get the second ending if in your entire playthrough you had accumulated enough "moral points". See here: metrovideogame.wikia.com/wiki/Moral_Points
Luis Correia I see. Thanks man. I guess it will suffice for me to just watch the second ending. Im not feeling like completing the game again. Still have a huge list of other games to play.
Oh really? Then why the fuck when you try to approach it does the guy throw you off the building? And what about all those people whose minds and bodies have been destroyed by the dark ones? Was that a mistake too? Don't pretend like the dark ones are completely innocent in this whole story.
@@natedrak3 the bodies and minds that have been destroyed were their attempt to communicate with humans, but it didn't go so well, probably because they were brainlets. As for the the Dark Ones dropping Artyom from the tower, I don't really like it since it defeats the purpose of them trying to rationalize with humanity non lethally, but at the same time, you are trying to bomb them after multiple attempts of them trying to communicate with you. So yeah, that's the only time The Dark Ones try to intentionally kill anyone in general.
@@peppermillers8361 Yeah, you are trying to bomb them because your whole experience with them is them killing people and breaking their minds. That's all you see them do, regardless of their intention. No human will assume that it is anything other than an attack on the humans and as such, they will defend themselves in any way they can. And if the dark ones are so smart, they should understand that. If they are as smart and as advanced as they say, they should know that the humans fear of the unknown, especially when it hurts them.
@@natedrak3 Like I said, I'm not a big fan of the idea (although the level itself with its trippy visuals is pretty good). If you played Last Light, you will know that The Dark Ones aren't really killing anyone, their touch just drives people insane and makes them kill each other (afterwards their memories are erased), the only people they're implied to get along well are children, and since Artyom was a child when he met them, his mind is more adapt to them. Really, we only hear about them committing murders, but the game drops tons of hints of them being friendly (until the end where they just go "fuck it, he's gonna kill us anyway, guess we got no choice"). They just keep doing it because they're most likely stubborn and desperate to make contact with someone other than themselves, just as much as the humans were desperate to contact other people despite all odds being against it.
+QuirkyAdventures I just completed 2033 redux Xbox One and had the same problem :( Do you know if there are any problems with Last Light redux? I'm not going to bother playing through if there are.
I'm pretty sure to get the good ending you have to kill zero people, give bullets to everyone who asks, refuse to kill monsters when given the choice, talk to some people, and probably some more almost impossible stuff
How the hell am I suppose to know there was a Moral point system. I only killed everything that tried to kill me. Is that a BAD THING!!? I tried to sneak pass enemies when I could. They just ended up shooting me no matter what. I dont even get the choice to shoot the Missile targeting system. It doesnt even say the Dialog when I shot the Dark one. And it doesnt give dialog after I do either. I'm playing the Redux version. Was it removed?
It's not entirely enough only to spare enemies. You have to listen to some key conversations and deny the offer of cartridges from the woman whose son you saved.
GReeNeYeD I finished Last Light and got the good ending first try. Im replaying Metro 2033 again. This time im doing everthing possible to get the good ending.
Shade Dark The original one had a very solemn tone. It fit the game perfectly. This one is too bright, too happy for the mood this game is supposed to have.
.hunter is dead .bourbon is dead.all his friends is dead.and their death will be waste if you dont complet the journey.the war will end by way or another.everything has a begin has to come to an end.
+zino dz You are wrong. The irony here is that they did die for nothing if you KILL the dark ones. It means you learned nothing throughout the game about not judging first before understanding. It's actually funny how badly you missed the entire point of the novel/game.
@@Quole1234 To be fair, the Dark ones aren't completely innocent. The Rangers didn't die for you to then do a 180 and spare the dark ones, they died so you could finish the journey and carry out your promise to Hunter. Like I said, the dark ones are pretty dickish, killing of your kind in a long and agonising way isn't going to be forgiven easily. I prefer the "bad" ending to the "good" as one it's canon and two I just think it fits well.
I don't get the hate to the moral points system. I've just finished playing it and well, I got the canonical ending where things blow up, but independently of the ending, that system reflects everything the game (and the book author as well) wants you people to see. How morality just deviates in any systematic approach even in an apocalyptic scenario, where people should be at least concerned and respectful of what's happening around. I agree that at least the developers should have put a message at the beginning like "The game follows up a system of moral points, the decisions you make ingame and actions you take will have impact in game's story" but after all it's not bad, everything, even the single notes and the reflections of Artyom are the ones that make you realize the whole deep story behind human nature, avarice and disrespect.
I finished this on the Xbox and it took me straight to the start screen. I'm not sure what happened, but based on the endings I've seen I must have done something wrong. Artyom was waking up from the ground and then that was it. Game over? Then again from what I read in the comments it could be because the Redux version doesn't have the alternate endings.
My game ended with “Artyom the missile are going off” then it cut to the menu it’s felt like the most abrupt and jarring ending ever. I didn’t get to see the missles hit or any ending dialog.
***** Well Its just that there are different interpretations. How wouldn't I know they were just brainwashing me, and their plan was to take over the planet as the "dominant" creature
***** Yea it doesn't matter either way, Last light continues the "bad" ending. Just picked up the Redux bundle on steam for 8 euros, I'm playing Last Light now. And screw the Library chapter on 2033.
***** I thought Artyom was loosing his shit when he received those strange visions but later on I found out that these were the Dark Ones attempts to communicate peace with him. Still got the canon ending because I was killing too many people. Fear of the unknown can make us do terrible things and completely blind us from the truth and it would be too late.
Weird. I JUST completed the game. I didnt get to choose an ending. FRom shooting the dark one in the strange illusion-tunnel, to the missiles getting launched, was one long cutscene. 'sup with that?
Not enough "moral points" collected throughout the game unfortunately! Means you didn't explore enough, listen to enough people, help beggars, play stealthily etc.
I wanted to spare the Dark Ones because the visions throughout the game clearly told me they weren’t hostile and were in fact trying to communicate with you and get you to understand them. It also occurred to me that whenever someone runs across the Dark Ones they probably shoot on site, therefore forcing the Dark Ones to defend themselves which then gets misinterpreted as hostile intent on their part. I really wish I knew you could spare them in the end like that. When my character came to, with the revolver in hand and the Dark One reaching for the laser designator, I unloaded on the Dark One. I even tried to reload. Clearly that was not the intent of that scene. Now I feel bad I shot the Dark One up when all he wanted was peace. Hahaha. This alternate ending makes a lot more sense to me than the canon ending. Thanks for sharing this. Now on to Last Light.
I didn’t get any of those endings. I got the Spartan ending where there is no choice and/or Dark One on the steps to spare or kill. Now apparently it’s because I didn’t have enough moral points. But Commies and Nazis aren’t people, so I don’t know why killing them should count.
So i guess all the times i died in this game are alternate reality good endings? Thats means ive got like 10 good endings under my belt and only one bad one!
The final cutscene didn't wanna play for me I'm actually pissed off, all my immersion just went out of the window. Thanks for the vid I feel a bit better now
I took all moral points in the game except one i think, but i cannot unlock the good ending, which means that after the dream sequence the missiles start automatically. What could be gone wrong?
I never got to see the endings I got the redux of both games in one will I still be able to see the one for last light? Currently going on to the second game as this is sent
Carlos remember on easy you can save everyone from the nosalis during the first tunnel, make sure the secondary weapon, main weapon, and third weapon have enough ammo to support keeping those guys alive because it's completely possible

Getting moral points in this game is a lot harder than its sequel. I got Last Light's good ending without being aware of it having two endings (to think I played LL first before 2033). :/
Well, I played LL in like 2014 or smht and just bought 2033 I was able to choose in 2033 in LL on the other hand I just got blown up and got the bad ending. :P So for me it kinda felt harder in LL.
So that's it you dont have to like be the best person you can be or any thing that's how you get the good ending cool I got the bad ending on last light for not spying on random npc and getting a lap dance

Totally(I have read book 1 btw
True
XCom 2 actually assumes the player lost the campaign in the first game, which is technically the bad ending, as the player's side, (The humans) are the good guys.
Dark Souls 1-2 arguably have you choose the bad ending canonically. "Linking The Flame"
So what does the book say guys?
WTF? I never had the chance to do either of those. It just launched the missiles.
I think that means you dont have enough moral points.
Depends how you act in the game.
How do you even gain moral points
you encounter a nosalis mother guarding her young children and if you kill them you lose morality points, the screen flashes white, and when you save that kid, the mother offers you bullets and you can take it or refuse it so that affects your morality too. And if you send that warning message the dying guy gives you I think you get good morality points too.

As long as you kill only when you have to, and generally just be a good person you will get the good ending (Which from the looks of things is also the canon ending).
fun fact: when I did that part where the dark one pulls you, my game glitched and I died anyway, which was what led me to the bad end
hold up now
The dark one never appeared on the tower with me in my first run. I just walked up to the laser and let the missiles go
is that because I blasted the shit outta him in the vision?
u didn't get enough moral points.

They aren't nukes
i would love to see some bits of what happened after the alternate ending... i fuckin hate those cliffhangers. even though it is then in the hands of the audience to make up their ending so it can live up to their expectations, i would still choose to hear it from the one who made the rest of the storry, even if i wouldn't like the ending. so i could find out how it was intended to go,
I nuked the dark ones and thought that was the good ending, I’m confused. It’s certainly the canon ending because in Last Light you nuked the Dark Ones.
The Dark Ones aren't evil;
Nuking the dark ones is like nuking a bunch of animals because people don't understand it
In the scene where Bourbon is getting crazy because of the mushrooms, a Dark One actually helps you and Bourbon
I fell in love with the soundtrack of this game

My ending was glitched I got the bit where it said we did it and then it cut to the main menu
I just finished the book and that’s why I’m here
Same
The book's final for some reason made me cry man :'(
I like that even though I chose the 'bad' ending, I feel it is possible to call both of them good endings. As far as Artyom knew, he was saving the world.
the problem is at every point your given the knowledge to make the right choice but you want to be a badass a ranger and it costs you your hummnaity.
I gave money to the poor even the whiny ass kids and I saved the prisoners. I think it’s bc I killed everything that shot me 🗿bruh
I thought the bomb ending was the good ending lol
it is Good but all call it bad ending bad is when you dont have a choice no matter what it will explode
MASS GENOCIDE OF PEACEFUL EVOLVED HUMANS = GOOD
Nice logic.
@@lad7436 Peaceful?
I think the " bad " ending is more precise for this game. Imagine you being Artyom, dark ones said " he must be destroyed" and all your works or friends who died will go to waste. No way sparing dark ones without knowing them
There is no good or bad ening in this game......
Luis Correia
Correct i just hate reading these comments on some videos like "i shit i got the bad ending" and im just sitting there and holding my head :D they act like it's a real "bad" ending.
"Technically" there is, considering in the game files, the devs labeled the videos that play during this sequence as "outro_bad.ogv" and "outro_good.ogv", but yeah, it's probs better to call them "Non-Peaceful" and "Peaceful" respectively

It is a glitch on the Xbox One that was never fixed. You can tell which ending you got by looking in your achievements.
6:37 i never had this scene or obtion in my game!
This is stupid because the end of the "good" Metro 2033 ending breaks the beginning of Metro Last Light when the rockets already hit the nest.
That's what happens when you adapt a book series to game, it's "stupid" but if you just go with it the series is amazing. They wanted to stay true to the books and they just can't if you go off and do things differently as a player, the dark ones get nuked in the first book so they get nuked at the end of the first game.
It's because there is the good ending and the true ending which is the bad one
Because of the books. And sadly the good ending is not prone to us as humans in general. Bad ending is good actually. Shows us what we get when we fuck things up. It's close to us as humans as well.
How is it "stupid"? They picked one ending to be canon. I'm glad they broke the mould and went with the bad ending.
Either way, these are not the true ending. Ranger ending is the true, canonical ending.
But I agree, the morality system is really bad in Metro 2033.
LMAO he was like i give you peace just stop whispering in my head please
+Brad Woodhouse You are wrong. The irony here is that they did die for nothing if you KILL the dark ones. It means you learned nothing throughout the game about not judging first before understanding. You just a assume that they must be killed in order to save yourselves. The point is that you are doing essentially the same thing that ended the world. It's actually funny how badly you missed the entire point of the novel/game.
Also, losing a few people does not justify committing genocide.
It's really not a YA novel. Just a good old adult science fiction novel (that's where you'll find it in the book store).
Something that confused me about the bad ending is should the missile's shockwaves cause a huge fraction of the metros to collapse
You should know that Moskow metro was designed as bomb shelter IRL just for this exact case.
@@TinyGreyOwl that's actually an interesting fact
Ranger ending. It's the true ending and Last Light continues from that scenario also.
FourScore lo l

This will forever be the good ending for me.
Death to Xenos, Mankind shall prosper!
To clarify, donating cartridges is not necessary. I didn't donate mine to anyone, but still got the good ending.
Lol

Deangelo Granados Oh darn, I didn't accept the ammunition from the mother because I thought she needed them more than I did.
I didn't know this one had a good ending until I noticed the changes I shot the laser at the 5 countdown but they still fired the missiles
what the f!! pls help, after I kill the dark one, it skips to the main menu! did it glitch or is it supposed to do that???
+Em Dunois I think your game glitched. It's supposed to play one of the two endgame cutscenes and then the credits.

I only just got round to playing this game, finished it a few minutes ago.

Yeah I'm fine with the moral points thing.
So it launched the missiles either way, but i did it with a clear conscience, mainly for Miller and Bourbon.
did u see the gloves that worn by Artyom ? It's changing since he wake up, shoot device and while he sitting down.
Wish that metro last light had a alternative setting where u spare the dark ones instead of bombing them

Wido08GP no i mean at the end of metro 2033 when u have the choice of killing the dark ones or sparing them. i wish that last light had an alternative setting where u spare them and their not dead
Dan Wepp Again, there is a last light ending where you don't kill the dark ones, just search for "metro last light good ending"
He means that your choice from Metro 2033 carries over to this. So at the start of Last ligth they are still alive, even though that would break the entire game.....
I believe that would change the whole scenario, but yeah, I'd definetely like to see that version too.
I love it how you literally need the bad ending for last light to make sense
The whole moral points system is idiotic.
Why? I think it's great.
GamCal
Because it's completely hidden from the average player if you don't read outside sources, it's full of arbitrary things, only like 2 of the points you get are from choices, the rest are from finding tiny little random things and happening to press the right buttons, and, oh yeah, they result in a non-canon ending.
Alpharius I agree they should tell the player in game, yes.
haha I'm the type of player who sniffs around every corner, listens to every dialogues and playing stealth. am I supposed to get bad ending? no. so when u do like this you get good cos u act good in the game. when u kill everybody on sight and not look at every corner, u don't deserve good ending.
Mistikei
Except you get "bad" points for being too inquisitive sometimes, like listening to a conversation.

I see. Thanks man. I guess it will suffice for me to just watch the second ending. Im not feeling like completing the game again. Still have a huge list of other games to play.
+XadowMonzter Did you shoot the missile laser guider? You have to shoot it before the missiles are launched.
Anonymous Alex No. To have those 20 seconds to shot the laser, you need enough Moral Points to do so. If you dont, it just go over to launch.
oh well.
I could only launch the missiles and there was no "Dark One" at the edge of the tower with me trying to stop the antenna
Wait Darkone tried to kill us in Labirenth at first and wants peace at last? Human Stronk !!!
They didn't try to kill you, actually.

Destroying the dark ones is the good ending in my book
I finished this on the Xbox and it took me straight to the start screen. I'm not sure what happened, but based on the endings I've seen I must have done something wrong. Artyom was waking up from the ground and then that was it. Game over? Then again from what I read in the comments it could be because the Redux version doesn't have the alternate endings.
But metro 2 starts when the dark ones being destroyed by the nukes? So is that canon or not?
finally someone who made the connection. the alternative ending breaks the beginning of last light.

Fear of the unknown can make us do terrible things and completely blind us from the truth and it would be too late.
dvore may At least they are not librarians
I've beaten this game multiple times and I never knew that there was multiple endings hell I didn't even know there was a Karma system
Morale system completely broken in this game btw
Just like in fallout series lol
I'd say it's better in the Fallout series (prior to 4) because at the very least it's not just based on kill/no kill.
I played the Redux Bundle so for this I literally got what's his face saying the missiles are launching and it ends nothing interesting
they want peace my ass. i am happy with bad ending. did it that way.
Bad ending is the right ending tho cuz artyom did kill the dark ones
I am at a part where i connot go on. i ran out of filters so the game is kinda softlocked
Ad Victorian!!!!!!
Boone wrong game not to mention Boone is an NCR sniper
Boone g
G
It's victorm u NCR dog
If they wanted peace with badly they shouldn’t have been saying to destroy me
I wanted to spare the Dark Ones because the visions throughout the game clearly told me they weren’t hostile and were in fact trying to communicate with you and get you to understand them.
When you get the good ending by accidentally clicking
I didn’t get any of those endings. I got the Spartan ending where there is no choice and/or Dark One on the steps to spare or kill. Now apparently it’s because I didn’t have enough moral points. But Commies and Nazis aren’t people, so I don’t know why killing them should count.
Wtf my game ends before the missiles even launch
I finished the game with good way but in Last Light it says we launched the missiles
So i guess all the times i died in this game are alternate reality good endings?
Thats means ive got like 10 good endings under my belt and only one bad one!
The missles launchjed automaticly
The final cutscene didn't wanna play for me I'm actually pissed off, all my immersion just went out of the window. Thanks for the vid I feel a bit better now
I took all moral points in the game except one i think, but i cannot unlock the good ending, which means that after the dream sequence the missiles start automatically. What could be gone wrong?
My game crash suddenly at the moment Artyom lifts the gun
anyone else had the same problem?
I didn't get an ending after I woke up it faded to black and just put me back in the menu screen
I never got to see the endings I got the redux of both games in one will I still be able to see the one for last light? Currently going on to the second game as this is sent
I didnt know that metro 2033 have more than 1 ending
Carlos remember on easy you can save everyone from the nosalis during the first tunnel, make sure the secondary weapon, main weapon, and third weapon have enough ammo to support keeping those guys alive because it's completely possible
I didn't even see the Dark one on the stairs xD
Because you haven't helped enough people to make the decision.

Ok listen: there is a bad ending and good ending: u can shoot the homing thing off the tower or just let them die with the missiles
Heck. I shot the guy but the honing procedure was completed by the time I got out of it.
So that's it you dont have to like be the best person you can be or any thing that's how you get the good ending cool I got the bad ending on last light for not spying on random npc and getting a lap dance
I DIDNT KNOW I HAD THE OPTION TO SHOOT THE PANEL
I played the classic metro 2033, damn its a good game...real challenging and immerseve
Why is it that when I shoot the laser it instantly sends me to the main loading screen
Good ending is impossible miss long as you dont kill humans in sneaking sections. Turret sections you can kill many as you want.
