You've got to respect Mikeys skill. The others use weapons that you hold. He wields weapons that you hold but have points of rotation and flexibility and are much more difficult to control.
Tbh though they also fit him in that the nunchucks are some of the most stupid weapons ever made. Still cool though I just don’t want people to mistake them for being good self defense tools

I let cartoons get away with it because they’re cool and immersion based, so I try to turn off my brain, but when people try to justify the stupid stuff in it, it’s when my gears start grinding
I think it says a lot about Mikey as a character. In serious fights he's always joking and can expertly use the weapons given to him and STILL joke around. I think I read somewhere that Splinter gave Mikey those weapons to help him focus more or something.

Raph and Mikey joke with each other a lot since Mikey’s humor and Raph sarcasm have a lot in common in areas. Raph has a secret moment with Mikey after Chris Bradford shows up where he tells Mikey that Bradford doesn’t deserve him because of how awesome he is. When Mikey gets Shellache Raph is the one who promises him they’ll get the centrifuge, and is even the one who saves it when the lab is destroyed. Some of Raph’s angriest moments in the series were Mikey’s various fake-out deaths. I definitely like the Rise take on it though. I wish this show continued, and we’d see Raph’a anger issues start to form and see how it affects that relationship. Remember, 2012 Raph was only angry all the time because of how emotionally vulnerable he was, if Rise takes that route then we may see Raph realize his issues early on and try to fix them or him slowly becoming more accustomed to it and only regretting it near the end.

I feel like people are missing a key detail from Mikey's use of the mystic Kusari-Fundo. The weapon is the thing that can apply stupid amounts of force, NOT MIKEY. However, Mikey being able to master and wield this weapon to the extent of yeeting a cargo ship over several city blocks shows insurmountable amounts of both technical and mental control. He doesn't have the strength to throw several tons of metal, *he has the FOCUS to do so* , a quality that makes him even more respectable imo.
1:15 Let's just take a moment to process the fact, that Mikey is somehow strong enough to throw an entire CRUISE LINER at such a distance. I know it's a magic weapon so it's powerful, but Mikey had to have had some strength to do that.
The weapon extends seemingly infinitely, it flies and may have its own consciousness, so mikey doesn't even need strength to throw it where it needs to go. The power 100% comes from the weapon. Mikey just guides it.

I've seen a lot of strange and awesome things in animation in my life. But...Throwing a ship has to be a new record for strange. And that's after Kill la Kill.
I like what they did with Mikey’s character development here. In the first years of him being a ninja, he seemed to have always hit himself more than his opponent with two nunchucks. Then he switch to a single weapon like his nunchucks, and it became easier for him to use not just because it’s magic, but he can actually focus on using a single weapon. It even makes him able to become focused enough to dual wield nunchucks again in the finale, only this time he knows how to use them properly.
MIKEY LITERALLY THREW A CARGO BOAT! I had to re-watch that scene 4 or 5 times just to make sure I saw that correctly! Damn that's awesome! Imagine how stupidly powerful Mikey has to be to pull off something like this, he was always lowkey the best fighter of the TMNT in the 2012 show, but this is just something else entirely. This is why more people should appreciate this show.
Not to mention, Raph can't lift or even push a regular school buss while Mikey effortlessly pulls the turtle tank and throws a cargo ship at the Shredder.
I am in love with Mikey and his mystic powers and his weapon!! He can show us how not only he can be optimistic and funny turtle, but also how he can be badass and amazing guy! He can do anything, go Mikey! You're awesome!
