Being seen as someone you are not, being pushed around because of things you can't control, your talents being shadowed, and more physical and mental abuse usually would end up in him being a villian. But he turned to be a hero until the end. To me, at least, he's still the best.

The sunshot campaign only included the war against the Wens, and Wen Ning didn't die and become the ghost general until after the war had ended. This would be set sometime during the burial mounds arc when Wei Wuxian is hiding out in the burial mounds after taking in the remaining Wens. I'm sorry, so many people make this mistake and it irks me every time. Great video though!
