There are a thousand archaeological artefacts in the world that might strike you as impressive when you look at them, but there are far fewer that make you stand back and say, "that's amazing." The number of those amazing artefacts that also comes with a surprising or mysterious backstory is even fewer. Only a very select number of special artefacts match that description, but we've hunted them all down for you and put them together in this video!

Way back in the 60's I studied anthropology and archeology. One of our professors said anytime they found unidentified man-made objects they dubbed them ceremonial objects. He smiled as he said it. Years later my sister and I were cleaning out my late parents' home. Our father was a machinist and our mother was an adventurous cook. Every time we found a tool or utensil we couldn't identify we tossed it in a box marked, "ceremonial objects".
That's amazing
Thanks for sharing I’m a professional chef… yr story is of interest

NO! His boat was NOT found INSIDE the great pyramid because the Great Pyramid was nothing to do with Kufu. The boat was found in a pit nearby.
Dammit ... everybody (?) calls it Khufu's Pyramid. Wrongly? Gone ... just like that, a fortune in letterheads ...
It is his pyramid. Denying it makes you a moron. You know that, right?
As a preteen, I ran up to 12 hours a day with my dog, just running in the mountains. I saw footprints in solid rock on more than 1 occasion. I just figured, “Prehistoric.”, and moved on.
Calling a place a shrine does not presuppose that there was worship done there. That seems like a leap of illogic. You could set up a shrine to commemorate a great battle, or a grave of one of your favorite pets.
Worship has multiple meanings, depending on the society in which it is used. Sometimes it simply means extreme respect. They often "worshiped" Kings and Queens in Europe, hence bowing, curtsying, genuflecting to rulers.
Just brilliant thank you.
I’m a new fan of y’all’s . Love what you do
People underestimate ancient humans!

If only we could find what they burned. All those rulers who didn’t want the future to know how they worked

Giant megaliths are the most mystical that I have met. I still cannot understand how people in ancient times created them. It seems to me that these are alien civilizations!

14:42 seems to me that the mass morder were the Aztecs, no? It was long belived that the spanish written record was exagerating and the wall of skulls was invented by the spanish propaganda. They spanish report also that victims were brought to the top of the altar, were their hearth was taken out while still alive with an obsidian knife, then the body was thrown down the stairs of the pyramid were it followed decapitation and the body was cut into pieces. The head when to the famous wall and some parts of the body were cooked, the rest was gived to the aztec zoo for the jaguars. Between this and the spanish inquisition, I would not know what to choose.
And the Spanish considered the Aztecs barbaric. Go figure
I think the Florentine codex is the Aztec telling of the story it is translated from their language, to English. It was commissioned by a Spaniard, to be painted by an Aztec artist. They wrote the "propagandized", version inSpanish, then the true version, in Aztec, because nobody else could read it. It was more recently translated. Very interesting stuff!
