As You say, he presents Alessis V61 as a controller without any issues, without expecting that midi has big problem with weird velocity, which is quite a bit difficult to set up naturally :/
Integration and customization are the first things I look at next to quality and every review I hear about arturious lab key the more confident I am about purchasing the essential mk3. I’m waiting to see how soon they will drop a new version.
I've been thinking a bit about why most USB keyboards can't fully control all types of daws. Such as, for example, Logic Pro X, Ableton live etc. You usually also have to use the computer mouse to start certain functions. Surely it can't be that difficult to solve so that you can only use the USB keyboard?
I have the arturia keylab 49, it is an awesome option specially the software it comes with, analog lab is awesome and it's very easy to use.!😊👍🏻. I hope someday i can buy the keylab mkII 😅. Nice video Ed!
@@TomGrimmy if you choose arturia, then you can consider the 61 key version which is just slightly larger than the 49 key version and the price increase is minimal.
Excellent video! I have a question. The weight of the Alesis V61 keys is the same as the M-Audio Keystation 61? or are they lighter? I had the M-Audio and it broke, and I liked the weight of the keys which is similar to that of a real piano, as you said. Now I don't know whether to buy Alesis or M-Audio for this reason. Thanks!!
That Alesis V61 shouldn't be on this list..That random velocity jump on some keys can really embarass you, especially if you're playing live..Like all of a sudden it just plays a random key at full velocity even if you gently touch it.. It's a known keybed issue with this keyboard (I found out later coz none of the reviewers would mention it) And I've tried contacting Alesis multiple times with no success or solution....The keys themselves feel good but If you care about consistency (especially if you play Electric Piano or piano sounds as your main instrument), DONT buy this keyboard
I know this is an old video. I am just starting this adventure and was looking for recommendations. Am I NOT much of a piano player and was looking for recommendations, I know you get what you pay for, but didn't want to go too cheap. I'm using cakewalk.

Nektar Panorama P series And others which you have mentioned. Money doesn't matter for everyone, some people want good one which is better & also best for FL Studio! I'm looking to buy one! Thank you...!
Great overview of 10 MIDI Keyboard. Thanks Edward (Great name by the way!). Now all I have to do is choose the right one for me. Leaning towards M-Audio Keystation 61 MK2.
Amazing video. Thanks. I'd just bought a Arturia 61 MK2 and the velocity of white keys can't reach 127. Max 123. 125 if I dance both feet on the keys (kidding). Still, I don't understand how a midi keyboard can't play the whole 1-127 velocity range.
Recently and finally after a long search along the time, after maudio komplete etc etc... I find the happiness for my Hands: icon 6x... Let's try! And review!
So which is the best value for money in your opinion? Which has the best feeling keybed? What are the pros and cons of each? Your video tells us nothing more than we can find on a Google search, sorry to say.
which midi keyboard should I get - the Akai MPK261 ($400) or the Arturia MKII 61 ($550) ? Anybody know which one is overall better? Nice overview! 👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻 I‘ve got the AKAI Advance 49, which is the best Controller on the market in my opinion. But I needed a 61keys controller. In 2019 when I bought it, I didn‘t get the 61 key version which would have been the ideal controller for me. If I could sell it, I would buy the AKAI MPK 61.
can anyone help me out? I am using windows 10 and when I installed the Sofware I only get a small window, I cant make my window big..I would like to know whats the best operating window to use for arturia sofware
I want to gift my husband a midi controller but I´m not a musician. What would you recommend for metal? I was thinking the Novation Launchkey 61 MK3 or the Akai Professional MPK 26. He used to play piano when he was younger so I think the semi weighted keys might be interesting for him.
are there disadvantages to getting a 61 key over a 49 key? because there is an akai 49 key for 430$ but the same 61 key is 400$ ($30 cheaper) so I was just gona say f it and buy the 61 key, should I ? I'm a Graphic/3D Artist but I plan on learning the piano (in general but also) to make music for the videogame I am creating.
The next comment that would be great for your home website is stop repreating intro's. LOL. Be original, by the fifth time of "The next keyboard we are looking at that would be great for your home studio" and i was off looking for another review. Good work but needs more imagination. Keep going you will get there. Compare real things that matter how key weights feel playing, travel of each key, velocity sensitivity. Layout of controls when hot changing. Etc.
@@EdwardSmithMusic I know but only if you want to play a bit faster than there are differences, if you use session view in Ableton and type in chords, synths,... than you have great control and it's fine- for two handed melody type there might be better options cheers
Lets give an honest review, I tried them all: - Arturia: expensive china toy quality - Akai: expensive china toy quality, They all have pot problems and weak internal connector :( waste of money
I'm bored of people just reading the instruments presentation and not expressing their experience and what is better and on what.

How does the keybed of the M-Audio key station compare to the Nektar Impact?
The nektar panorama has semi weighted keys. Not fully weighted.
Synth action versión 2. Not
semi weighted keys.

“Fully weight” keys on Nectar Panorama P6? I’m not so sure!!! Semi-weight - YES, but not full!
I think the best feeling keyboard is hands down Alesis V61 i have the V25 it’s the same but with less keys
Alesis VI61 is one of the poorest keyboard felling and nuances.
The worst keyboard on this list, to be honest
