    :)that because F16 AB has lighter frame, but ROCAF's F16 AB had been improved to have some ground attack ability which means the body frame are much more heavier to carry bomb.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    No, J11B is designed for air combat, we can consider it as a new jet, because it has PLA's own avonics, weapon systems, radar. 601 institution even changed the body frame to make it lighter.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    yes, the main problem is training, PLAAF have lot's of new staff after the J6 Q5, but we have not make them as a system yet.
    but, J6 already expired, only remote ones left. PLAAF completely stopped manufactory J7 and J8 just recently.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    Yes, because F16AB are first designed as an air combat plane, that means the body frame are much more lighter because they do not need to carry the heavy bomb, which makes AB has better maneuverability with old engine. But your F16AB had been improved to have some ground attack ability, that means your body frame is more heavy, but still with old engine

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    Actually, Danmark AF has the same situation with ROCAF, they also upgrade their F16AB, but they changed a better engine together.

    Taiwan has the computer technology required for advanced jet fighters, some missile technology and built a jet fighter in the past(and recently an improved prototype). There may be still a few J79s around from the F104s; the J79 and also the F100 can form a basis for reverse engineering, even if the resulting engines last only for 300 flight hours(slightly less than 2 flight years of an ROCAF pilot)

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    according to Kanwa and Janes, PLAAF has more than 300 J11(Su27), about 80 J10, and PLA's own designed "E2C" and "E3", with AESE on KJ2000(you can consider it as E3, better radar but poor information processing ability)

    Taiwan is in the process of upgrading the Chung-Ko and does use indigenous wepons. It's primarily economics that limits Taiwan from more fully developing a 4th-gen fighter. Don't underestimate the 2000-5/MICA combo either. (and by the way, I'm American)

    How well the PLAAF and PLNAF have evolved to meet their new Su-27/J-11 and Su-30MKK/2 fighters has yet to be seen. It's also worth noting the PLAAF's difficulties with its aging, hodge-pog fleet of trainers and somwhat jumbled pilot progression through them.

    Mirage and F-16 is not out of date yet

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    it depends, F16AB has been in service for nearly 20 years.......old enough......
    you should develop your own IDF.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    and J11B has been tested and taken into small scale service in PLA. J11BS is on phototype testing stage. They both use PLA' own engine, and avionics. That's why I feel pity, because I believe Taiwan can design their own engnie for IDF, ROCAF start design new generation jet much earlier than PLAAF.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    not exaclty, ROCAF F-16A/B are upgraded to MLU standard, some of the component are Block52, some of them are less than CD.....
    but the engine are old, and missile are old(120C)

  • @Ahrimancp
    @Ahrimancp 17 років тому

    Yeah, but those ROCAF F-16A/B's are Block 20's. In other words; A/B airframe, C/D avionics. The 20's were developed when the PRC protested the sale of Block 30/40 C's, so the block 20's were developed.

  • @Ahrimancp
    @Ahrimancp 17 років тому

    But the F-16A/B is also more manuverable than C/D.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    agree with your idea about the engine. But for ships, there is no need.......it's toooo close, any ship except A-carrier is nothing in front of jets, taiwan is too close to mainland.
    Small hints: destroyer like KDX3 even US Arleigh Burke, can only detect jets for 40km if they fly 50 meters.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    M2000-5 is good, your best plane.
    But I think you should develop your own IDF, to find a better engine, the advantage is you have your own avionics, and your own weapon system, to get grid of the weapon limitation.

    Remember that in the Korean War F-86's and MiG-15's were arguably equal in overall capabilities. It was the experience and training of US/UN pilots that aloud for such lopsided kill ratios while the most succesful communist pilots were Russian vets.

  • @Ahrimancp

    I had heard the F-16C/D had been approved. These are slated to replace the surviving F-5E's. And let's not forget the long standing problems China has had w/its own engines in the J-6, Q-5, J-7 and J-8 which still equip the bulk of Chinese fighter units. Questions about Chinese training and tactics could also be in question.

  • @xxwzaebd

    The ships are not only needed to protect Taiwan from China but also to protect Taiwanese and other trade ships from pirates etc. Taiwan has to rely 100% on sea lanes for its export/import and the pirates are getting more and more sophisticated weapons. 4 small carriers,8-9 Aegis ships,60+ conventional subs and 2-4 nuclear subs will do.

  • @Ahrimancp
    @Ahrimancp 17 років тому

    ROCAF has trained in proven Western style tactics for decades while PRC relegated the airforce to an army support role which was treated like a pahriah institution since the cultural revolution. This has only changed in the past 15 yrs.

    J-11B? Is thyis a new PLAAF designation for the Su-30MKK's? The actual J-11/Su-27's were built from Russian supplied kits complete w/engines and Bar's radar complete from the origional manufacturer. The Su-30's are totaly Russian built.

    BTW, I have check the infor from KANWA, I'm wrong about the number, there are nearly 300 J11/Su27/Su30, not more than.
    and I do not want to compare the two sides, I prefer peace, I just believe ROCAF can be better, but the leadership made a mistake. look at what Taiwan engineers have done in S.Korea, they are very good.

    There is no guarantee that the US will sell planes to Taiwan; this is not because of the US needing PRC help in certain geopolitical issues but because the US leaders have business interests related to PRC. Therefore,Taiwan has to start development of fighters, Aegis ships and subs and nuclear weapons even if the defense expenditure has to be increasd to 20-25% of GDP.

  • @Sanaluvern

  • @xxwzaebd

    Taiwan should start rebuilding F100 type engines. Lifetime will be shorter than US engines but engines can be replaced. Taiwanese companies are very strong at embedded computers therefore development of related electronics systems will be facilitated. Since Taiwan has basic shipbuilding capabilities, productions of Aegis(8-12) and older generation subs(at least fine dozen) should also be started.

    and please, I would like to talk to you after learning nowaday's situation of ROCAF, but I found lot's of people here still evaluation PLA according to the weapons and people 20 years ago. I have no comments on your something like F-5 , and focus on your F16 IDF M2000, but what you mention of PLA is only J6 J7 J8, even the Korea War. it's quite a different way of thinking.

    J11? even J11B's pics are everywhere now.....which contains PLA's own avonics, weapons, radars and the most important one---> engines!
    and yes, the F16CD bill will go on:) I heard of that 10 mins before

    For the 4th generation fighter, I have to say sorry, I think it's toooo late, lot's of Taiwan technicians went to S.Korea, and the forever engine problem, no one will offer taiwan an even military used engine. US even say no to the F16CD contract just these days...that's why I feel pity about taiwan's delayed IDF developing plan.

  • @alex0422
    @alex0422 17 років тому

    yeah, that proved my idea---->it's really good for taiwan to improve IDF and develop new jets, because taiwan has the ability. But, more money were put on the f-16s and M2Ks, lot's of technicians left HanXiang......if taiwan support it's own jet plan with no doubt in the past 10 years, I believe taiwan will be much better than at least S.Korea, so it's a pity........

  • @xxwzaebd

    The last opportunity would be the Mig 29M2s which cannot be delivered to Syria. Taiwan's economy has shrunk to more than 1/4 relative to Korea's during the last 20 years and its defense budget is smaller than that of Singapore. Western planes have high cost and require extensive maintenance and infrastructure thus are not suitable for Taiwan.
