There's now people like Kathleen Kennedy, She's a Perfect example of this awful trend where people are getting positions when they have in no way shown they deserve these positions. They are not hired based off talent or skill..? So we are seeing very expensive shows, movies, all so terribly designed, terribly managed, Awful writing, world design, character development, poor aesthetics. So much now feels creatively bankrupt and I really hope they all snap out of it and get back to making better things. The new Acolyte show comes off so cheap & tacky.. It's not just the terrible writing & terrible acting. The whole thing is a complete self centered power trip.. It's horrible set design, horrible world building, horrible camera work. It all makes this show feel so small. Like it's filmed in a single green screen room.. Grasping at awful CGI techniques to try and force any bit of a false reality into this mess of a show. It's so far from Legitimate Star wars movies that it feels as if this whole thing is a big parody.. A very expensive parody.. These people have proven they are only capable of writing narcissistic stories that self insert themselves and their own beliefs into anything they do. Even if they get to make something from a pre-existing beloved story, they cannot help themselves. They seem to be incapable of creating artistic creations that stray away from their own personal perspective, instead of showing they can lean heavily into escapism and pure storytelling.. They have proven time and time again that they are not capable of doing anything even remotely close to that.. (which is weird because that should be one of the most important attributes that a director or a developer or an actor has in order to be successful at their job....?) How is there no one that will fire these people who openly hate the fans, hate the consumers who made their success in the first place.. Compare "The Acolyte" to If you went back & watched "X-Men the Animated series" It was so well crafted. The story of the struggles of mutants having to deal with humanity was such a universally relatable storyline. Media back then was not afraid to face difficult topics head on. They found really unique ways to abstractly teach people life lessons. They touched on difficult situations & found intelligent ways to convey certain stories. Even when I was all grown up & rewatched it, it really felt like the story is crafted so well & executed at such a high level that anyone is capable of relating to it in someway or another. It's stuff like that, that we are deeply lacking nowadays. So much so that literal kid's cartoons from the 90's told deeper and more mature stories than most media nowadays. Stuff used to take pride in who can find the most creative ways to convey certain things. Who can give the audience certain feelings without overly explaining it. It used to not matter what kind of character, creature, species they were. What matters is that they found ways to convey artistic depictions of the Human condition. Creative ways that can connect us on a deeper level.

So when I do get sht, I have experienced it from all sides. And to me, DEI and ESG regulation perpetuates racism and sexism.
The not promoting a black person because they aren't black enough threw me for a loop. It completely undermines _everything_ Disney has done to try to appeal to the black community. Princess Tiana, Black Ariel, Black Tinkerbell, that terrible Sneakerella movie, all down the drain!
Most of those were just pointlessly changing the skin color of already existing characters, instead of making new original characters with original stories.
The main exception to that was Tiana which was before many of the "diversity" pushes we've been seeing for the last decade or so. It feels like one of the last, genuine attempts at a good character that happened to be non-white before it all went to crap.
@@PhillyCh3zSt3ak yeah, it seems like that, and although Tiana came before the huge, insane DEI push, i can assure you there was still a degree of diversity and inclusion disney had in mind when they made that movie. this kind of thing has been going on for a lot longer than many people realize, it has just become a lot worse and more apparent in the last decade or so. not to say there was necessarily anything wrong with disney deciding to make a diverse movie back then, it would be the same thing like disney deciding to make a movie that celebrates a certain culture that they have not done yet. what this has evolved into in modern days is just outrageous and wrong, though. and it is detrimental to community and unity, when people are forced to focus so much on "diversity" and what makes us different, instead of what makes us all the same. it also leads people to assume these people of diverse backgrounds didnt earn their place, even though they might have, we just cant know since DEI is proven to lead to people who didn't earn a position being there. if we go back to merit, then we can be more unified and fair to people of all backgrounds, and there will be less resentment and unfair judgements made of peoples.
@PhillyCh3zSt3ak Tiana was one of the first race swaps in the "Didn't Earn It push. Her story is LITERALLY a race-swap of the original tale of the Frog Prince. A EUROPEAN folk tale. It only gets out of scrutiny because it was before the major push, and it was rather well written for what it is.

When I see these undercover exposes it strikes very similar to the idea of confession. When allowed to express themselves without fear they speak openly and candidly. It looks so strange how they are so open and free but that is because deep down they want to be free of the guilt.

So I explained to him it was the origin for the word slave and meant robot. Many European countries thought my ancestors were not really full people. I then followed it up by mentioning that the reason my ancestors came to America was that Russia was trying to enforce cultural homogeneity on the polish people. forcing them to learn Russian as well as discouraging cultural norms of Poland. Suffice to say he never tried to shame me again.

Motivation matters when you make art. The Rev. W Audrey wrote the first story in the Railway series simply because he wanted to read it to his sick grandson to help take his mind off the illness. Eventually Audrey's passion expanded it into the Railway series we know today. Britt Alcroft came along years later wanting to engage in children's storytelling with the use of trains, and Audrey's work inspired her to produce the TV adaptation of the Railways series. It was called, Thomas the Tank Engine, and it became a powerhouse that is still remembered fondly by the kids who grew up with it. Disney isn't motivated to create for the right reasons. It's sad, but knowledge is everything, and now we know what we need to know. Disney doesn't care about story's, they care about race, and race must be the center of discussion for everything now, because we aren't allowed to simply enjoy a fun adventure in space, we have to make a big stir up in our marketing and make it about race. The only thing this has done over the years, is invite the WORST kind of people to start spreading their hate, and instead of ignoring them, which is how companies should handle hateful people, they chose instead to blow things out of proportion, label EVERYONE in the old fandom as racist, or bigoted, and then Disney, chose to respond to these hateful individuals with their own brand of spite, which in turn, continues to feed into this cycle of hatred. People gave the Star Wars prequels a lot of guff for their execution, but they were at least cohesive enough to have a story, and what Lucas knew going into the making of the prequels, is that treading familiar ground was the wrong move. He chose to expand the universe, and maybe he went a bit too far in some places, but they still expanded what was already a fascinating universe to explore. You can't pander to your audience, and just hope upon hope upon hope that it keeps them entertained enough to make them clap like seals. You're job as a filmmaker is to tell a compelling story in the audio, visual format. Simple as. Charts and figures mean nothing to real passion for what we create. Lucas was inspired by passion for mythology, and human cultures. Britt was inspired by trains in children's storytelling. Audrey was inspired, because he wanted his grandson to feel better. Motivation matters when you make art.
Personally I'm tired of companies like Disney parading around their minority employees like show ponies for virtue signaling points. Making their actor's race/gender apart of their marketing campaign is also gross and self serving.
Let's be real, racists will always attach themselves to whatever ideology/group that let's them be racist, that's their only value. E.g. just look at hillary, going from the 90's of "marriage is only between blah blah" to "gay good, me woman, straight bad".
Okay so I’m 1/4 Italian, 1/4 Dutch & 1/2 southern or eastern Germany, whole family immigrated to US sometime prior to the 1930’s & met here. Okay so very American mix… yes? Well, me & my Dad & 2 uncles all developed the weird olive skin tone. So we all look very white in Winter but get darker & darker as the seasons warm up. By summer, my dad & I were regularly call “half breeds” by strangers. Because my dad had Dutch/Italian features but his skin tone got very dark. People assumed he was half black. My skin tone has gotten darker over the years but not like his. I had asked him once why he never corrected people. He said, it shouldn’t matter & he didn’t want people to think they should be ashamed of their color. He also never understood why we were obsessed with race. He watched friends of all color & creed go to Vietnam but came back with the same flag. When it was his turn, he worked with hazmat & fire rescue to save as many people as he could… didn’t stop to look at skin tone.
This also takes away from talented cast and crew members who just so happen to be a minority. They’ll begin to doubt their abilities as a team under Disney & think they were only hired for something they can’t control, not something they work hard for.
The term “their pants are too big for the breeches” is saying that they think that they are bigger and more important and powerful than they actually are

(which is weird because that should be one of the most important attributes that a director or a developer or an actor has in order to be successful at their job....?)
How is there no one that will fire these people who openly hate the fans, hate the consumers who made their success in the first place..

The African racism scenario you describe did happen. It resulted in the Rwandan Genocide.

@PhillyCh3zSt3ak
Tiana was one of the first race swaps in the "Didn't Earn It push. Her story is LITERALLY a race-swap of the original tale of the Frog Prince. A EUROPEAN folk tale.
