Swarm cells make the best queens. A lot of times bees will make emergency cells from larvae that’s to old, makes a bad queen. An leaving a lot of cells to just let them fight it out can cause a bunch of cast off swarms. An this is a great time to feed thin syrup to get your bees to draw comb. Plenty of time left to feed thick syrup for winter. Say all this in the kindest of way 😀

Love your videos. Queen cells on the face of a frame can also bee swarm cells.

Are you feeding them after you have pulled the honey you want?

Hi, I prefer to trickle feed through the dearth to stimulate the bees to build up and bring in those resources when available. The flow this year keeps on going and I'm only feeding colonies that are weak from starting over after the spring buildup. Most of my hives are packed out in the upper brood box, lifting those heavy boxes gets old. Next month, I will be combining or feeding to add weight as necessary. I have 1-1/2 gal frame feeders as the two-frame space is nice.. GREAT content as always.

Why do you want them to store sugar water in the comb?

Barnyard Bee's is in my town. Good people! I got my 1st Bee's from them a month ago and they are doing really well. A 5 frame nuc i put into a 10 frame. I been giving mine a 1 to 1 sigar water in a 1 gallon white rectangular feeder in the super and ultra bee pollen patties on the frames.

Seems like bucket feeders would let heavy rain water in the hive. Plus if a wind storm blows it off it’ll really let water in. I use Rapid Rounds with a piece of sock on it to prevent the bees from getting under the clear cup and dying.

Love the videos. I prefer the better bee ultimate direct feeder I find if you have a strong colony bees overcrowd the frame feeders and drown anyway. Also I feed both 2:1( in hive) and 1:1 (community) im in the St. Louis region and have been doing this for 10+ years I do this to plus up my winter bees and have had considerably less winter losses. I do either 2 deep or deep medium depending on colony strength.
