Here's a theory of mine. The reason the figure comes covered in "white powder for non stick purposes" is that the white powder is actually "bloom". Google "rubber bloom" and you'll see that it naturally occurs in cured and uncured rubber after the molding process. I deal with rubber seals at work all day, the older ones that sit for a few years get covered in this powdery substance even though they are sealed and bagged. This may also be the reason why the figure is so stiff, it has just been sitting there for a couple years after being made and boxed up. I think they might have had a licensing issue or something that didn't allow them to ship on time. Just a theory.
Yea that's what i was thinking too but yesterday mezco released a statement about the powder, is supposed to help protect the silicone and it will rub off over time
Yea I think the wired cape is fine for the action poses and the second cape could have been done with a different material all together. It really didn't have to be the same material
@@toys210ln terms of aesthetic he's the best 1/12 Batman Keaton but in terms of overral look(aesthetic, proportions and articulations) the Flash Batman SH figuarts and the Batman 89 figuarts are better.
Finally, a proper review! I really dislike the fake leather capes and materials used for it, i hope someone will make a nice thin cloth cape that will just drape without bendy wires
I have Phicen TBLeague 1/12 which is medically graded silicon so it should last much longer than usual, hopefully, they used the same type here as well. Phicen body came with white baby powder so it's protected and it's easier to put on cloths. If it's touched with oily greesy fingers it turns into sticky rubber, if cleaned with hard water calcium powder can form after water is vaporized so for sure it will require more delicate care than regular plastic. If you still have figuarts batman maybe to do another comparison video, sizes etc... :)
Oh thanks for the tips about the silicone, now I gotta be extra careful with it, last thing I want is to ruin that suit. Yea I can certainly do a comparison between those 2. Thanks for the idea
It would definitely look nice from the front but I would imagine a lot of glue is involved because the back might still look bulky if it's not glued down tightly
Very good review man. Very thorough. I will say this is a fantastic looking figure, it may not be perfect but damns is it really close. A couple of things: 1. Regarding the cape I will die on the hill that Keaton Batman needs a plastic cape. It is the only way it will look good. Sure, cloth capes kinda do the trick but they don't resemble the material, which should be kinda leathery. 2. Mezco seems to have wanted to recreate the texture of the 1989 suit, which was a rather cheap plastic suit. If you watch the movie closely, the suit does appear slightly greyish in some scenes. Of course Mezco went a little overboard with it and ended with a grey suit. Also, I am concerned over long time durability of that silicone :/. 3. Finally, the headsculpts are nothing short of fantastic. The best I have seen out there and I think gives Hot Toys a run for their money. Spot on if you ask me.
Yea fig is definitely growing on me the more I mess with it. And u agree with everything you mentioned here. I compared the head with the neca and I can clearly see how much better looking the mezco is. And yea my only concern is how long that silicone will last.
Quick tip on putting on the cape: push up from underneath his crotch, as if you're apply force onto the metal skeleton itself so the silicone won't interfere much
I had a powdery substance show up on a Mattel Green Lantern figure a few years back. It was from the plastic aging. Somehow I came upon the idea of trying a hairdryer on it. The powder stuff disappeared. Obviously it’s not the same material and I wouldn’t suggest long exposure to the heat but maybe a controlled gradual exposure to some heat might be something to try?
Yea the mattel plastic happened a lot on their figs too but being silicone a lot of ppl are saying us for protection on the material. After the review there are definitely less powder on the body already so I think that's probably why. As of right now, I'll probably keep it as is and just try not to touch it too much with my bare hands

awsome review as always bro this is a decent figure way more hyped than actually good has its faults but still very nice overall cant wait for the flash movie 🦇💪
First Mezco batman fig I take it? 😬 They have been using that same cape design on soverign knight, supreme knight etc. Non wired cape like you guestimated is meant for drapping and the wired cape is intended for dynamic poses. The posable eyes sculpt doesnt bother me as most ppl I believe wouldnt pose him showing the back of his head. The powder yea thats normal for silicone bodies unfortunately. Did the fig come with instructions? If so did it just show how to swap out the capes? Again if so smh. Not telling ppl how to properly put on the accessories is a fail imo. Speaking of accessories...no magnetic option to put the grappler on the belt? booo! I have copy on order but never was a fan of how they executed it. I got it cause I wanted to do an experiment and went on the waitlist and lo and behold it converted. Decided eh when it comes I'll bump it. Thanks for vid.
Yea there is instruction but the issue is mainly the overhang fabric in the ring making it almost impossible to properly snap the ring onto the neck section.i think with they providing us with 2 capes, they should have used a much softer material for the cape that was meant to drape onto the body. It really didn't need to be the same material imo, as long as it drapes nicely on the body, I think that's what we would have liked. Yea I don't get why they gave us the collapsed version of the Spear gun.....oops, I just tried again and it does have a piece of magnet on the belt. It was on the side I didn't try lol. Now I need to put a annotation on my vid to clear that up lol. But overall I think we all put a lot of expectation on this release and it just didn't live up to what we were all hoping for. But still an average fig imo.
@@toys210 lol @ found magnet. It happens. I was like wow Mezco you usually are good on details and left that one out? Yea I figured@ materials. The other batman drape capes are usually a softer material then the wired so it can flow better. I guess they wanted to keep the look of the cape uniformed with both capes. Thanks for reply!
If I got this I’d have to paint it or dry brush it black and add a glossy finish. If it still doesn’t match the cowl. I’d return it. 130$ you shouldn’t have to mod or make changes to figures. Neca did it better for 1/6 of the cost
Yea there are definitely issues with this fig. I would not want to paint the suit, who knows how the paint going to react with the silicone. I am still very concerned about how long this silicone material is going to last too
My one is coming soon. I would Should just shiatu Greece. Q tip . The white will come off after two passes. First pass enough to notice its on let it sit over night give it a wipe down. Second lightly where needed and let it sit. You should see a better if not completely different look. It's the same thing with TBleague and Phisen bodys. Lady death is white silicone but you could feel the packing powder I gave the treat ment and it helped but you have to remove all items to get everything. One thing I totally appreciate it mezco sent out a email about this if you ordered it from them . Ghost rider is on its way as well. The cape will go on easier if you use a small piece of plastic to guide it on . I see a new cape in the future lol .
Heat the cape ring with a hair dryer soften up that ring it'll go on a helluva lot easier and no you won't damage it just don't get super close while warming
In real life his suit was stiff and so was the neck! The whole body suit was restricted on him! He couldn’t do that much of a turn with his stiff cowl!
Good review. Another reviewer suggested 303 aerospace protectant. It not only takes off the white powder but protects the rubber and gives it a better finish. I received mine yesterday and love it. Best 1/12 89 Batman despite some flaws like the near useless second cape. This is the best way to pull off this suit so as not to show ugly joints and to have a great photo. FYI, the Ghost Rider shows charging soon.
Thanks for the info. Yea it's definitely growing on me. And yea this seems like the best way to do the suit, I just wonder how long the material would last.
@toys210 I would say keep it away from dust and lent. And follow the directions as far as not over exposing to sunlight and avoid stressing the joints. I have mine displayed in a detof in my hallway that is fully isolated from sunlight and humidity. Or storing it back in the package when not in use if you don't have a detof.
Man…. That cape is an absolute let down for being so long in development… in theory it looks like it would be a solid way to secure it, but they fumbled the execution. Also, I may be crazy, but I’m pretty sure that powder or whatever is on the body, is definitely wearing away as you review it. Towards the end of your video it seems a LOT darker.
Yea I think if they were gonna do wire then they should wire all the edges and the other cape should have been a different material and much softer. Both don't need to be the sane material
@@toys210 I know Keaton Batman’s head is always pretty big due to the cowl design, but I went looking at photos of the Hot Toys and SHF and seems like only those two got proportion right. This one just seems a tad too big.
@@toys210 yeah don't blame.you for being a Lil cautious. What about petroleum jelly? On a Q-tip perhaps? It's more natural and may help keep the rubber moisturizer
The left arm on mine broke. Which makes me really sad. It cant swivel at the bicep anymore. It can still pose and bend and all that but has no swivel anymore which sucks. The figure bummed me out
@@toys210 its the bicep. It’s not solid solid anymore and is wobbly. It can still bend at the elbow and move at the shoulder, but it cant swivel. So i cant pose him with both hands holding his belt, or with him checking his left arm like a watch, or i can have him cover his face with his left arm holding the cape. Its like its snapped at some point. I can kinda cheese it with the butterfly joint but its floppy at the bicep. Grab one of the arms on yours and try to shake it or bend it. It will be tight. The left one on mime is super loose and not tight at all
The figure is a bit of a let down. 😢 The magnet for the head is a poor design choice. If they would have gone with a peg, I think the cape might fit a little better. That silicone is going to crack in the future. 😞 One day you're going to pose him, and it'll crack right around the limbs. 😞 I was going to get one from eBay right away. But now after watching this, and seeing some of the poor design choices, I think I'll reconsider.
@@toys210 20 years maybe? 🤞🏻 But definitely could be an issue in the future. However if the figure is kept in a cool climate-controlled environment it could last many, many years.🙂
@@toys210 apparently people recommend having a pack of gel silica at their feet to absorb the moisture and so it'll last longer, that or getting a dehumidifier (but that's the more expensive option)
a silicone prosthetic lifespan is 1 to 3 years I'm guessing these are going to start having problems with the silicone bodies in 5 years tops hense why hot toys is doing a Batman 89 2.0, the suits started degrading years ago! I really want this figure but I'm not a fan of seamless bodies because they can potentially degrade really quick!

Why wouldnt they just go with face plates all the heads seems like a waste and the cape why does it need to be clipped on they should have just had it connect to the cowl mezco slipped on this and 3 years wait whoa
Damm man what a massive dissapointment. Body Colour is totally wrong, Cape is a complete disaster, white spots where I think this toy has been sitting in some warehouse for 2 years which is the seeping white stuff out. Head won't sit properly, movable eye tech looks ugly. Hell nah Beast Kingdom is better than this garabge.
with all those pre orders the creators clearly did a lot of coke when making this fellas. Glad i dropped mezco, the figuarts 89 batman is better and will last a lot longer
The figuarts version need a way better cape and that head sculpt is very strange tho. But yea most likely will last much longer than this silicone body
@@toys210 We see them more often but we do not know what will happen in about lets say ten years from now. Some plastic will even get brittle over time when they do not use the best quality

Yea so the only way to compensate is to turn the body
Good review. Another reviewer suggested 303 aerospace protectant. It not only takes off the white powder but protects the rubber and gives it a better finish. I received mine yesterday and love it. Best 1/12 89 Batman despite some flaws like the near useless second cape. This is the best way to pull off this suit so as not to show ugly joints and to have a great photo. FYI, the Ghost Rider shows charging soon.
Thanks for the info. Yea it's definitely growing on me. And yea this seems like the best way to do the suit, I just wonder how long the material would last.
Do you have a picture of this method finished?
@@89DannyRaider89 check out the review from Comic Crusaders. He shows what his looks like with the 303 applied.
@@aaroneaston8899 yea, thanks for the tips, I most likely will just take it out from time to time
I have NECA one. I'm happy.
Hmmm I might make a comparison vid with neca and the shf
Both don't need to be the sane material
mezco proportion always suck, but this takes it another level. did they just put a 1/10 scale head on a 1/12 scale body?? wth
Especially without the cape. With the cape on he looks ok
@@toys210 I know Keaton Batman’s head is always pretty big due to the cowl design, but I went looking at photos of the Hot Toys and SHF and seems like only those two got proportion right. This one just seems a tad too big.
This figure is a nightmare
I say hit it with some armor all on a q-tip. That might help
I would be too scared to do that with chemicals
@@toys210 yeah don't blame.you for being a Lil cautious. What about petroleum jelly? On a Q-tip perhaps? It's more natural and may help keep the rubber moisturizer
@@kievmiddeton2656 I'll have to research it
The left arm on mine broke. Which makes me really sad. It cant swivel at the bicep anymore. It can still pose and bend and all that but has no swivel anymore which sucks. The figure bummed me out
Oh that sucks. You think it's just locked somehow because it can still bend and hold its shape?
The magnet for the head is a poor design choice.
If they would have gone with a peg, I think the cape might fit a little better.
That silicone is going to crack in the future. 😞
One day you're going to pose him, and it'll crack right around the limbs. 😞
I was going to get one from eBay right away.
But now after watching this, and seeing some of the poor design choices, I think I'll reconsider.
Yea is definitely not perfect. I do worry about silicone cracking too, who knows how many years this fig will last
It was already known that it was going to have a silicone body since it was put on pre-order.
@@toys210
20 years maybe? 🤞🏻
But definitely could be an issue in the future.
However if the figure is kept in a cool climate-controlled environment it could last many, many years.🙂
@@officespace7777 I doubt I would care much about it in 20 years hehe, but definitely good if we can get at least 10 years out of it
@@officespace7777 agreed. not all silicone cracks after a few years of exposure. Temp controlled u should be good.
Man and this thing was like 3 years in the making? more? what a disappointment
Yea I am a bit disappointed too. I guess I am a bit torn, I just don't know how long that silicone body is going to last.
@@toys210 apparently people recommend having a pack of gel silica at their feet to absorb the moisture and so it'll last longer, that or getting a dehumidifier (but that's the more expensive option)
@@corruptpixel8441 so much care is needed for such a tiny fig lol
so glad I didn't get this....thanks for sharing
You are welcome
I really regret ordering this now!!
Well I would wait til you receive yours, mess with it a bit and you might enjoy it a bit more
Head feels way too big (especially next to his hands)
Yea it does look a bit big
a silicone prosthetic lifespan is 1 to 3 years I'm guessing these are going to start having problems with the silicone bodies in 5 years tops hense why hot toys is doing a Batman 89 2.0, the suits started degrading years ago! I really want this figure but I'm not a fan of seamless bodies because they can potentially degrade really quick!
Oh damn that's not good. Yea I wasn't a fan when they used it on big chap the alien too. Only time will tell. Maybe I'll do a follow up vid in a few years
@@toys210 as soon as people start parting these out like the other mezco Batmans I'll definatley be snagging the heads and accessories but they can keep thos bodies!
@@scottmcclary594 yea I want to test it on the neca body and see how it looks
@@toys210 they look about the same size as the neca head cuz the neca head looks too big as well!
Why wouldnt they just go with face plates all the heads seems like a waste and the cape why does it need to be clipped on they should have just had it connect to the cowl mezco slipped on this and 3 years wait whoa
Grapple
Yes that's it
Damm man what a massive dissapointment. Body Colour is totally wrong, Cape is a complete disaster, white spots where I think this toy has been sitting in some warehouse for 2 years which is the seeping white stuff out. Head won't sit properly, movable eye tech looks ugly. Hell nah Beast Kingdom is better than this garabge.
good good good!!!
I do not like the magnet heads.
with all those pre orders the creators clearly did a lot of coke when making this fellas. Glad i dropped mezco, the figuarts 89 batman is better and will last a lot longer
The figuarts version need a way better cape and that head sculpt is very strange tho. But yea most likely will last much longer than this silicone body
Armor all
Seems a bit of a rushed job by Mezco
No pissed off face 🤦🏻♂️ come on
These kinds of body does not have a long lifetime to go
Yea that's what I am afraid of
@@toys210 We see them more often but we do not know what will happen in about lets say ten years from now.
Some plastic will even get brittle over time when they do not use the best quality
@@GoliathAngelus yea we really can't tell
One word “deterioration”
His head and body don't match at all..that's rough looking😂
Yea it is rough unfortunately. There's definitely room for improvement with this one
Thankfully I knew after the 1st YEAR LONG DELAY, that this figure wasn’t going to be what was promised. After the SECOND YEAR delay I knew it would be trash and after the THIRD YEAR delay I just assumed we wouldn’t get this at all. Now that it’s here I can’t wait to sell this to some sucker for twice what I paid for it b/c I sure as hell don’t want mine.
Yea I just wonder how many years this fig will last with it being silicone
@@toys210 it’s hard to tell, I have 2 phicen 6 inch figures. One has held up perfectly fine, the other has random tears at some of the joints. Seems kinda random, like the particular batch of silicone used makes all the difference.
bad review... the camera has to be far away. there is no perspective
🙄😒😬😔I wouldn't recomended..😮💨
This figure is basically perfect, I can't believe the moaning from this guy
its a phicen body
so its trash
