When i saw this in the theater they mixed in the fake trailers at the start with the actual real movie trailers and it was probably the best movie meta moments ive ever had.
Fun fact Addie: During the MTV movie awards where this film was nominated and promoted, Tom Cruise, came out in full makeup/outfit and performed he even had a surprise dance appearance of JLO.
The advertisements leading up to it were a blast too. He did a few in full costume with a few other actors nominated that year as the award show was billed as being "produced by Les Grossman". The one I remember most of course was the one he did with Robert Pattinson.
Fun Story about Tom Cruise in this movie: When this came out me and my friend went to see it and in the middle I said that "holy crap I think that's Tom Cruise!" and he said "No way!" And during the enc credits I reiterated that "dude, I think this is Tom Cruise!" and he remained reluctant. We went to get food afterwards and he bet me a party sized plate of nachos for who actually played that character. No need to say that I won and got my nachos. Additionally, when this movie was cast, they pitched this role to Tom Cruise as a joke thinking he would never accept but he did and it was his demand that he'd have that dance number at the end and it was choreographed by him as well.
I love how they address the obvious ridiculousness of his character through the movie with satire! It is brilliant the way it was done! Ben Stiller is low-key a great Director! The way he did Tropic Thunder and then transitioned into The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is something beautiful to witness!... and not even counting Escape at Dannemora and Severance! Sooner or later i do think that fortunately Ben Stiller does have the chops to become recognized as one of the greatest Actor-turned-Director ever! His level of talent is not a joke by any means!
Robert Downey Jr. actually got Oscar-nominated for this (Best Supporting Actor). Had the unfortunate luck of running against Heath Ledger for THE DARK KNIGHT (who won that year). It is pretty ironic that Downey Jr. is a possible contender this year once again for OPPENHEIMER, considering that he lost to a Nolan movie performance the last time he was nominated (as a matter of fact, as of this writing, Ledger is the only performance from a Nolan movie to be nominated, let alone win (this will certainly change thanks to OPPENHEIMER)).

You can tell that Addie in real life is a wholesome person. Because it is a raunchy movie and her facial expressions were awesome. She deserves a Oscar make her a little Twigman
It's great watching a bunch of well-known actors appear to have fun while making a movie. About trying to make a movie. I'm sure most of us didn't recognize Tom Cruise at first. And when we finally did, I know I'm not the only one who said, "Wait... What?!?!", and then went back to rewatch all his previous scenes. Very enjoyable reaction, Addie. Thanks much! 🤗
In a movie with so many ridiculous jokes, for some reason the one that always makes me laugh most is: "Let's move. We only have 16 hours before they wake up."
Addies's facial expressions reacting to this move were awesome 😀. Also that she didn't recognise Tom Cruise at the beginning was hilarious. Love the reaction keep them coming 👍
I'm sure someone already mentioned this, but RDJ actually did the DVD commentary for this film in character, as Kirk Lazarus, in character as Lincoln Osiris...
You did much better at identification than me. I walked out of the theater afterwards thinking Les looked familiar, but I couldn't place him until I went home afterwards and looked it up.

Addie, bless your heart for watching this movie. I have three sons two of them are currently active military and they/we love this movie but it’s not for everybody. Thanks for being a good sport Jeff,
There are so many nods to other movies I am still finding them. Ben Stiller at the first being chased and shot was from Platoon, hard to miss. The drugs shaped into the mountain from Close Encounters, and the acting was spot on. Another of my favorites I have watched more times than I want to admit lol.
