This story is found in all 4 goels because it is the account of the 1st ordination of Christian ministers, & from them came the continuing succession up to the present time. According to the method or organizing through numbers encouraged by Pythagorianism, it had been planned that the mission would bring in 12,000 men, divided into groups of 3,000, 4,000 & 5,000. One man led each group & would be called by the number of that group: the 3000 being the head of that order, who was Herod himself, the 4000, James Niceta/Annas & the 5000, John Aquila/Annas. (The 3000 were proselyte converts to Judaism. The 4000 were the uncircumcised Order of Shem, & the 5000 were native to Palestine. They were the representatives of the uncircumcised non-Jews of the Ham Fraternity). In the 'feeding of the 5000' John Aquila was made a presbyter, equal to a Gershon, a position that had hither belonged only to Jews. Herod Antipas was a man of the world who upheld marriage rather than celibacy, so the promotion of married Gentiles became a consequence of the new regime. He was now appointed to be in charge of those Gentiles who, paid membership fees, their money coming to him. When it was said in the course of the episode, "200 denarii worth of loaves are not sufficient, that each ahould receive", part of the special meaning was an allusion to Antipas' appetite for both food and money. Josephus notes his 'indolence'. The episode took place, not in a wildweness, but in a building, the building at Ain Feshkha which was the first center outside the monastery. It was at a meal on Friday at noon, March 21, 32AD, an occasion which for calendar reasons was observed by some ascetics as the first meal of unleavened bread at the Passover season. It was a wilderness place because hermits could join in ceremonies there. These were the order of Therapeutes who used only bread, never wine at their communal meals. As the riddle of the loaves given in Mk. 8:17-21 implies, the treatment of the 12 sacred loaves was the key to many adpects of the Hierarchy, & an understqnding of it was an essential clue that the pesherist needed. It was the key also to an understanding of the Last Supper. Each of the 12 loaves was numbered. '5 loaves' meant 'loaf 5' & '7 loaves' meant 'loaf 7'. At the meal held in the Qumrqn vestry the principle had been established of breaking & sharing a loaf between 2 men sitting side by side. The practice was held to give them a common identity and related forms of ministry. The table at Ain Feshkha was defined as being of common status, equal to a lesser table in the Qumran veatry, & the seating order, which arose from the numbers of rhe loaves, was that of the common table. This meant that rhe highest persons present were not those partaking of loaves 1& 2, but of lesser loaves, which included loaf 4 & loaf 5. At the west side of the upper row Theudas sat at the seat numbered 5, holding loaf 5, & when the time came for breaking & sharing the loaves, he shared it with John Aquila, sitting on the outer west beside him. By eating his half loaf & thus sharing in the identity of this man, who acted as a presbyter, John Aquila himself became a presbyter. It was the central moment of his ordination, the receiving of communion that meant entering into the fellowship of ministers. It was a 'miracle' because it broke established rules to ordain such a man. Theudas would, in the course of things, have appointed a Jewish presbyter on this occasion by sharing the loaf with him, but now he appointed a Gentile, & one who was lowest of all in the scale of 'uncleanness', being married. The version in John's gospel does not bring out what is more duly shown in Mark, that James Niceta, the 4000 was also involved in the ordination, sitting on the far eastern side and sharing loaf 4 with man 4, thus becoming a bishop. Ma,rk's subsequent 'feeding of the 4000' gives further detail about this part of the history. It was underplayed in John's gospel because James Niceta was personally opposed to Jesus, & as shown in his section of the book of Revelarion (Rev. 8:6-14:5), & his Ephesus party remained out of sympathy with those who became Roman Christians. 12 baskets of fragments were left over from the 5 loaves, & in the Markan account of the feeding of the 4000, 7 baskets of fragments were left over. The kind of ministry that John Aquila received was that of married men who attended meetings on a monthly basis, & their presbyteral leadership was structured in 12. James Niceta, however, was able to be promoted to an episcopal ministry holding daily services, needing a leadership of 7. The 'miracle' also involved Titus, who was the 2d in rank of the individual celibate Gentiles after Phillip. He had come to be associated with fish and ate cooked fish at the common meal. He was given 'fish 2', & given a promotion at the same time as John Aquila. Both of them would appear as Christian ministers in the history of Acts.

How was the fresh fish eaten with its scales, gills, and intestines, plus pointed sharp edges or flippers?
