    1 moa is 2 of the .5” squares of that target at 100 yards. If you’re shooting a 1” group at 25 yards; you’re shooting 4 moa. If you’re shooting a 1” group at 50 yards; you’re shooting 2 moa. A one inch group at 100 yards is 1 moa.

    • @everythingphil9376
      @everythingphil9376 6 років тому

      I think it depends on how many yards a person decides to zero the rifle to. 1 MOA isn't always at 100 yards.

    • @MrNiceKnife
      @MrNiceKnife 6 років тому +39

      Villamor78 🤦🏻‍♂️You can’t “think” whatever you want. I KNOW what 1 moa is. You obviously don’t, and neither does he. 1 minute of angle is 1/60th of 1 degree. Do some homework before you start typing friend. He’s using 1 moa and 1 inch interchangeably; that is incorrect. This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about regarding his use of moa. Again for example, 1inch at 50 yards is 2 moa, 1 moa at 200 yards is 2 inches. Etc. etc.

    People need to realize an AR and an AK are battle rifles NOT a sniper rifle, a POA/POI of 1/2 moa is fine for a battle rifle

    • @oneillam1990
      @oneillam1990 4 роки тому

      Lol an AR10 or a SCAR17 is a battle rifle, but you're right, they're not snipers. People expect too much from a light semi-auto

  • @cosmiccharlie8294
    @cosmiccharlie8294 5 років тому +18

    I would say that the Warden would only change POA if you had a light barrel whose harmonics would be altered by the extra weight of the device.

  • @shepdog_alpha
    @shepdog_alpha 2 роки тому +2

    I truly believe it's a barrel profile issue, if you have one. My 16 hbar has no poi shift at all. But my 16 modern profile barrel poi shift is about 3 inches low at 100 yards. Both barrels are BA nitride mids, but the modern profile is almost half the weight and will flex when I push on it. HBAR's are the best for using any suppressor or qd blast deverters.

    Watched the whole video, and yes at those distances you will not see a POI change. Try shooting out to 5-600 meters, that’s were I’m seeing a shift in impact difference. Also I’m running the compensator not the flash hider.

  • @deesminutemansupplywarhamm6078

    Weight on the end of the barrel causes a change in barrel harmonics.

    All good points there,… zero with the ammo you’ll use to defend or compete with. Your training ammo will never be at your absolute zero. Good stuff man.

  • @lundy75
    @lundy75 6 років тому +5

    I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I think the issue with the Warden causing the POI shift comes from the SOCOM muzzle break and not the three prong flash hider. Do you know which muzzle device others were using to see the shift?

    • @imstricken06
      @imstricken06  6 років тому +6

      lundy75 thats an interesting theory. I dont think anyone ever brought that up in the online chatter. Im inclined to agree with you simply based on the principal of where the gasses go by a brake

      We discovered a couple years ago that there is definitely a POI shift of approx 2-3MOA when using the Warden blast diffuser on the Surefire Muzzle Brake SFMB-556. Interesting to see that there is virtually zero shift when using it on the three prong flash hider. I'm glad I came across your video, I will pass this info along.

    I think one thing to consider is not just the airflow but rather barrel harmonics. And in the case of barrel harmonics each barrel that the device is attached to will respond differently. I run the same 7.62 Saker can I have on 4 different rifles and each one has a different poi shift and some more than others. When you go hanging an additional 20+ ounces off of the end of a barrel harmonics definitely change but that can also be said for even just a few ounces. Anyone who has ever used a Browning boss system or has changed torque settings on a barrel can till you that just a lil change to the barrel can cause a big poi shift. Barrels vibrate and move just like a tuning fork when fired and depending where that barrel is in its flex cycle when the bullet leaves the bore has a big affect on where the bullet gets sent. It's one of the reason two identical rifles can prefer different ammunition choices. Due to different stresses in the metal during manufacturing, barrel fit tightness, exc... each barrel will have its own unique harmonic signature.

    In 'Commiefornia' you can't buy a gun with a flash hider, muzzle brakes only. Also certain trainers (Buck Doyle for instance) won't allow muzzle brakes in his courses (for obvious reasons). Enter the Warden. POI shift is extremely relevant in a thorough test, something most other reviews don't bother to include. Great video and exactly what I was looking for.

    100 yard zero would really show any discernable difference.

  • @josephmelzer275
    @josephmelzer275 5 років тому +6

    You should Zero rifle with a surefire suppressor. Then replace suppressor with warcomp. This should help mitigate POI shift while transitioning rife to an unsuppressed state. Hope this helps.

    Instead of shooting 4 3 rd groups you can actually just do 1 10 rd group and use range buddy to get the center and the same with warden.

  • @fee_lo8346

    I'm sure a lot of it has to do with barrel length and profile. Any change of muzzle device can and probably will cause a shift of impact. Obviously your barrel/ muzzle device combination gets along well. Jonny reloading bench has a good series on muzzle devices and harmonics. It's all luck as far as most of us are concerned. I'm sure there's brainiacs out there that could explain it😂😂😂.

    if you wanted to run this test better get a bench clamp for the gun, then run this test. Remove the human error component to avoid result deviation.

    50 yard zero?? That’s well over 1 moa. There’s a shift dude. Or at least poor accuracy due to the weapon or operator. I’m not gonna rehash what’s already been commented by others.

    POI shift.. due to the length of your gun, and the shitty mount you are using on your optic

    • @imstricken06
      @imstricken06  5 років тому

      Wtf does the optic mount have to do with poi shift that people are having when installing or removing the warden? So the optic mount doesn’t like the warden? If it was the mount we’d be getting poi shifts regardless if the warden is on or not. And how do you explain me not getting poi shifts at all?

    • @josephstephens3497
      @josephstephens3497 5 років тому

      @@imstricken06 hmm, are you sure, that it is only when the warden is installed? Or are you sure you have it locked down tight? I have used my warden for 2 years, and havent had an issue with it. you may have something that isnt timed right. 1. Check you muzzle device. make sure its timed right. 2.. Check your warden and make sure it is locked down tight. Sorry, i misread, and was just trying to eliminate a possible cause.
