- This special evening Maharaj ki Sham was organized by Pakistan National Council of Arts to pay tribute to Baba Maharaj Ghulam Hussain Kathak. Nahid Siddiqui's student Jahanara gave a commendable performance at the evening.
Maharaj Ghulam Hussain Kathak was the guru of Pakistani classical dancer Nahid Siddiqui. The greatest contribution that he made was to bring forth a dance artist such as Nahid Siddiqui.
By placing Maharaj’s name on the map she graciously gave him due and respect. She evolved that early training and influence into a unique style and aesthetic of her own.
Siddiqui’s lifelong research, dance narratives, and impeccable technique have established her as an internationally renowned dance artist, choreographer, and teacher to a generation of new dancers.
Maharaj Ghulam Hussain and Nahid Siddiqui had deep regard and respect for one another and for kathak. They maintained a close bond throughout his life and until his passing in 2001.

Voices of the sprits of our ancestors
Jahanara, like Madhubala, met her Creator at a tender age, but remains immortal because her craft continues to endure the test of time!
Her facial expressions at 4:30 are ❤
Has Jahanara continued to dance?
What a spectacular performance by the young most gifted Jahanara … and what an irreplaceable loss for the art world and I’m certain , for her loved ones . May her soul Rest In Peace .
Jahanara still influencing artists and dancers all over the world today. Maharaj's words of having many hopes from her, ring true till today. Thank God Jahanara ever existed and that she met and spent so much time with Nahidji who gave her this incredible style, a piece of her own self.
Incredibly graceful and a treat to the eyes. Living up to the stature of her great teacher.
I really appreciate the description, thanks so much! When was this?
Also what is Baba saying? I can only understand a few comments.
