@@lukase.2487 And my answer was that I was not at Matterhorn. It means, that I can´t compare the difficulty of these 2 routes. Then you must find someone who climbed both Matterhorn via Hörnligrat and Weisshorn via Normalweg to give you a relevant information. Let´s say both routes are classified by the same grade AD. Also Matterhorn is an overcrowded peak so as far as I know there are some fix ropes. However it always depends on actual condition. In ideal conditions (which we had this year), no snow on the rocky ridge, I would feel confident to go it even without the rope. In worse conditions like it was last year, with lots of (soft) snow on the ridge, making it mixed climbing where the crampons don´t hold good, it can be completelly different story and I wouldn´t go there in that conditions.

Is the normal Weisshorn rout easyer than the Hörnligrat at the Matterhorn?
