Bad idea to keep it stationary, it's made to be used... Did you know it's the knees and the shoulders that don't have their own blood supply... It's fluid that moves through... Research like I found out... Keep those fluids moving... A frozen shoulder a physio can fix with exercises ... The longer you ignore it, the longer the treatment! Get on with it...!!!
@@lisasmith3657 Yes exactly. Completely stationary is not good either. But resting is good with intermittent exercises - not work. I had a rotator cuff injury that was never treated. Took years and years to feel almost right again. I couldn't rest because I had children.

That sounds and looks like it might be carpal tunnel and if you need surgery the recovery time is 6 weeks. My nephew is having his second wrist done this week. By taking care of yourself, you are taking care of your family.
We understand how you feel John BUT if you don't heal properly, you're heading for a bigger disaster. Please heed the words of someone who's been there! Get to a doctor asap please
Sorry to hear about your shoulder John. Please go with all the advice given. It will take time to heal, so try not to rush things. It will pay off in the end. You and Tara must have the happiest kids in the world. They're always smiling and laughing. Lovely to see. A child's giggle tickles the heartstrings. Go softly.
I would echo that sentiment. You do have a certain amount of youth on your side, and therefore have a greater chance of recovery, and as you always seem to do, you will find a solution. Many years ago, I didn’t follow my own advice, and nearly 40 years my neck injury is still a problem. And if you haven’t already done so, check out what supplements may help.
Bless your heart John. You may need to get that shoulder looked at. It's sounds like you may have torn your rotator cuff. It will require surgery unfortunately. You can't just ignore it either. I have had rotator cuff injuries to both shoulders. #1 I rehabbed with PT and the other I had surgery. ( I am a swimmer). both ok now, still swimming daily. There are a lot of good UA-cam videos with exercises.

John, as much as we enjoy your creativity on the property it is of the most important that you be careful with that shoulder before it becomes a bigger situation and you will be completely on rest longer than you want. Tara, put him in a sling to immobilize the shoulder for a while. Treat with anti-inflammatories. then make an appointment with the doctor if he isn’t better after this regiment of immobilization for at least two weeks. I know this all too well because when you’re young and you guys are young, you think you’re invincible and you can power through it. If it is what I think it is he’s going to have a lifelong problem with that shoulder and not be able to do such strenuous activity. It will flare up often from now on probably. And if he needs surgery, that’s a long recovery and painful, accept the facts. You’re hiring the neighbor boy to help you with the garden, which is winding down now perhaps you can hire him to help in the build, with the lifting and moving of all of this lumber, and carrying it on his shoulders all of this overhead work. It’s hard to accept help. I realize that but you’re just being stubborn now.Lol.

John I had to have shoulder surgery last year and the recovery was far worse than the injury. It was a very long, inconvenient and frustrating time. Go and get some your shoulder checked out. Happy birthday Tara, love the lights.
@@TheNewbys By God's Grace this will not be a lifelong problem ...with care & physical therapy & supplements. MSM is an excellent anti-inflammatory (a Sulfur compound) that I use daily or my trick knee would not work right & I couldn't go on my daily walk of 2 miles. It's rather miraculous & so is Collagen which my husband used regularly & absolutely credits for healing his shoulder which ached for years after he worked on a farm & in the kitchen carrying and lifting heavy things. You probably also know about Glucosamine & Chondroitin which are supposed to help with joints. Protein & collagen are vital for healing ...& so is copious amounts of Vitamin C oddly enough. You can look all these things up & do some deep-dive research. Sorry to keep pushing the 'Collagen Cure' but I really believe in it & so does my husband (Kindlydude) . Awww! That's so sweet of you John. Happy Birthday Tara! The deck is fabulous & please rest your shoulder otherwise it could get worse. Those types of injuries can take 6 to 10 weeks to heal & you have plenty of time to finish it. Take care, give the children lots of hugs from all of us viewers.
I can tell that you are the kind of person who has trouble sitting still, but it is so important to take care of yourself and rest. Your family needs you to continue being a great provider, but not at your own risk.
How kind of Tamara to give you a consult! The modern world is astounding! John, you have half the world watching what you do so keep resting that shoulder. I agree with you NO BUNNIES. My kids always had rabbits for pets but they were free range and lived in the house and garden with our kangaroos and wallabies. Great pets, but they eat your plants and chew your electrical cables ,so they would not be suitable at all for your environment. Rest is best John. I eventually had a cortisone injection in my shoulder after months of physio but never looked back. I hope you back on track soon. That swim looked amazing. Sawyer really sweet and endearing to see Crusoe engaging with his baby brother💙

Rest and ice are the best things, I had to have my rotator cuff operated on several years ago and the surgeon told me shoulder s are the most complicated injuries because it involves back, neck and arm muscles.. take care of this now John , sounds like a pinched nerve of nerve bundle and if you don’t rest it you will have more serious issues and NO projects will get done. Just to let you know. I had very very similar shoulder issues and symptoms like you seem to have. Mine ended up being a 2 part thing. First was a bulging disk in my neck (not really any neck pain). It was pushing sideways onto a nerve which was showing up in my shoulder blade and giving me pins and needles. Second was a torn rotator cuff which was giving me almost zero power in my arm. I couldn’t hold a tea bag up with my arm level. I went to a physio and acupuncture. Both of which helped amazingly. Rest up and look after yourself
For me as a person from EU would say : typical American....never go to the doctor before you nearly dieing. But you are in EU go to the doctor the treatment is free

Tara, you do know that a time out for Caruso, when rough with his brother, is acceptable and quite called for; he’s quite smart enough to know what he’s doing and shouldn’t get away with being unkind to anyone, a good sit in a corner to start with his face away from the room might be a nice place to start, as well as with outdoor activities, he can be dealt with. Be the guardian of your children, they want your loving care through kindness but tough love is required also safety through out the household, but also for socializing with other children as well. Don’t worry, the boys will still love y’all more than you know ❤. No thoughts on bunny rabbits, except I’d love to share a story with you about my mum. The neighbours rabbit kept getting out of its run, and one day my mum was in the garden, planting bedding plants. She turned and looked at the row of plants she was putting in, only to find the rabbit following her along the line, munching every single plant that she put in. Poor Mum. When she told the neighbour, the neighbour said “if that damn creature doesn’t stop getting out, he’s for the pot!” We never had any more problems after that, I dread to think where the bunny ended up! I do know that he was called Houdini…😂
We had a house rabbit, a French Lop, for 13 years. Didn’t imagine he would live that long. He got on with the dog and all my cats. He was a school classroom project before he came to us. Rabbit husbandry is not difficult or complicated. We loved our “Samurai Jack”
My daughter had a black rabbit that she got for Easter when she was five & loved fiercely... but who unfortunately got out of his pen and ran away. To comfort her I bought her a book from the 'Serendipity Books' (a kind of modern Aesop's Fables with lessons on kindness) by Stephen Cosgrove. "Leo The Lop" was just the beginning of our love-affair with the Serendipity Books & all their animal characters. But Leo always remained her favorite. ..."In a warm, gentle corner of the island of Serendipity lived a big bunch of bunnies. The bunnies were all the same. They had cute little noses, fluffy puffed tails, and two perky ears that stood straight up. All of the rabbits, that is, except Leo the Lop. What made Leo different was that his ears hung straight down. The other bunnies began to notice that Leo was different, which seemed very funny, indeed. Whenever Leo hopped by the other bunnies would grab their sides and giggle. Leo didn’t see anything funny about the way he looked. As far as Leo could tell, he was just as normal as normal could be. Finally he asked, “How come you always laugh at me?” “It’s your ears,” they laughed. “They go down, not up. You aren’t normal.” Not being normal made Leo feel very sad. With the help of crotchety old possum, all of the rabbits learn that “normal” is just whoever and whatever you are."
My hubby and I watched your most recent video from last night. We loved it and me being such a sentimental sap of course got teary watching John set a beautiful scene for you Tara! I studied massage and when i was in school, during our clinics, we had a client with years of shoulder problems, that over the once a week visits over 10 weeks, had those problems resolve. John, I got a pinched nerve in my shoulder a few weeks ago which eventually went right down my left arm and elbow. It took 3 full weeks, lots of ibuprofen and ice packs but I am now finally feeling a bit stronger and able to start lifting weight. At one point I was uncomfortable laying down, standing up or trying to sleep. There are some great videos on UA-cam showing gentle exercises you can do to help you get better. Hope you get better soon because I know how awful the pain is.

DIY ice pack - 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol & put them in the freezer. You can put them in plastic baggies (double bag them just in case) - sandwich, quart or gallon. Whatever size you need. And you can use one & then get another one so that you always have a cold one. It worked great for me recovering from rotator cuff surgery. They mold very well to your body! If your shoulder is impinged try this: reach with both arms straight up in the air, stretch a little up and bring both arms down in front of you, toward the front of your thighs. Saw this on a youtube with a physical therapist. Works for me.

That sounds and looks like it might be carpal tunnel and if you need surgery the recovery time is 6 weeks. My nephew is having his second wrist done this week. By taking care of yourself, you are taking care of your family.

Sorry to hear about your shoulder John. Please go with all the advice given. It will take time to heal, so try not to rush things. It will pay off in the end. You and Tara must have the happiest kids in the world. They're always smiling and laughing. Lovely to see. A child's giggle tickles the heartstrings. Go softly.
I would echo that sentiment. You do have a certain amount of youth on your side, and therefore have a greater chance of recovery, and as you always seem to do, you will find a solution. Many years ago, I didn’t follow my own advice, and nearly 40 years my neck injury is still a problem.
And if you haven’t already done so, check out what supplements may help.
Bless your heart John. You may need to get that shoulder looked at. It's sounds like you may have torn your rotator cuff. It will require surgery unfortunately. You can't just ignore it either. I have had rotator cuff injuries to both shoulders. #1 I rehabbed with PT and the other I had surgery. ( I am a swimmer). both ok now, still swimming daily. There are a lot of good UA-cam videos with exercises.

Tara, put him in a sling to immobilize the shoulder for a while. Treat with anti-inflammatories. then make an appointment with the doctor if he isn’t better after this regiment of immobilization for at least two weeks. I know this all too well because when you’re young and you guys are young, you think you’re invincible and you can power through it. If it is what I think it is he’s going to have a lifelong problem with that shoulder and not be able to do such strenuous activity. It will flare up often from now on probably. And if he needs surgery, that’s a long recovery and painful, accept the facts. You’re hiring the neighbor boy to help you with the garden, which is winding down now perhaps you can hire him to help in the build, with the lifting and moving of all of this lumber, and carrying it on his shoulders all of this overhead work. It’s hard to accept help. I realize that but you’re just being stubborn now.Lol.

John I had to have shoulder surgery last year and the recovery was far worse than the injury. It was a very long, inconvenient and frustrating time. Go and get some your shoulder checked out.

@@TheNewbys By God's Grace this will not be a lifelong problem ...with care & physical therapy & supplements. MSM is an excellent anti-inflammatory (a Sulfur compound) that I use daily or my trick knee would not work right & I couldn't go on my daily walk of 2 miles. It's rather miraculous & so is Collagen which my husband used regularly & absolutely credits for healing his shoulder which ached for years after he worked on a farm & in the kitchen carrying and lifting heavy things. You probably also know about Glucosamine & Chondroitin which are supposed to help with joints. Protein & collagen are vital for healing ...& so is copious amounts of Vitamin C oddly enough. You can look all these things up & do some deep-dive research. Sorry to keep pushing the 'Collagen Cure' but I really believe in it & so does my husband (Kindlydude) . With care & time John will heal.

I agree with you NO BUNNIES. My kids always had rabbits for pets but they were free range and lived in the house and garden with our kangaroos and wallabies. Great pets, but they eat your plants and chew your electrical cables ,so they would not be suitable at all for your environment. Rest and ice are the best things, I had to have my rotator cuff operated on several years ago and the surgeon told me shoulder s are the most complicated injuries because it involves back, neck and arm muscles.. take care of this now John , sounds like a pinched nerve of nerve bundle and if you don’t rest it you will have more serious issues and NO projects will get done. Agree that's what the osteopath told me because so many nerves and tendons go through Aspall channel.
Just to let you know. I had very very similar shoulder issues and symptoms like you seem to have. Mine ended up being a 2 part thing. First was a bulging disk in my neck (not really any neck pain). It was pushing sideways onto a nerve which was showing up in my shoulder blade and giving me pins and needles. Second was a torn rotator cuff which was giving me almost zero power in my arm. I couldn’t hold a tea bag up with my arm level. I went to a physio and acupuncture. Both of which helped amazingly. Rest up and look after yourself

Tara, you do know that a time out for Caruso, when rough with his brother, is acceptable and quite called for; he’s quite smart enough to know what he’s doing and shouldn’t get away with being unkind to anyone, a good sit in a corner to start with his face away from the room might be a nice place to start, as well as with outdoor activities, he can be dealt with. Be the guardian of your children, they want your loving care through kindness but tough love is required also safety through out the household, but also for socializing with other children as well. Don’t worry, the boys will still love y’all more than you know ❤. No thoughts on bunny rabbits, except I’d love to share a story with you about my mum. The neighbours rabbit kept getting out of its run, and one day my mum was in the garden, planting bedding plants. She turned and looked at the row of plants she was putting in, only to find the rabbit following her along the line, munching every single plant that she put in. Poor Mum. When she told the neighbour, the neighbour said “if that damn creature doesn’t stop getting out, he’s for the pot!” We never had any more problems after that, I dread to think where the bunny ended up!

We had a house rabbit, a French Lop, for 13 years. Didn’t imagine he would live that long. He got on with the dog and all my cats. He was a school classroom project before he came to us. Rabbit husbandry is not difficult or complicated. We loved our “Samurai Jack”

My daughter had a black rabbit that she got for Easter when she was five & loved fiercely... but who unfortunately got out of his pen and ran away. To comfort her I bought her a book from the 'Serendipity Books' (a kind of modern Aesop's Fables with lessons on kindness) by Stephen Cosgrove. "Leo The Lop" was just the beginning of our love-affair with the Serendipity Books & all their animal characters. But Leo always remained her favorite. ..."In a warm, gentle corner of the island of Serendipity lived a big bunch of bunnies. The bunnies were all the same. They had cute little noses, fluffy puffed tails, and two perky ears that stood straight up. All of the rabbits, that is, except Leo the Lop. What made Leo different was that his ears hung straight down. The other bunnies began to notice that Leo was different, which seemed very funny, indeed. Whenever Leo hopped by the other bunnies would grab their sides and giggle. Leo didn’t see anything funny about the way he looked. As far as Leo could tell, he was just as normal as normal could be. Finally he asked, “How come you always laugh at me?” “It’s your ears,” they laughed. “They go down, not up. You aren’t normal.” Not being normal made Leo feel very sad. With the help of crotchety old possum, all of the rabbits learn that “normal” is just whoever and whatever you are."

I studied massage and when i was in school, during our clinics, we had a client with years of shoulder problems, that over the once a week visits over 10 weeks, had those problems resolve. John, I got a pinched nerve in my shoulder a few weeks ago which eventually went right down my left arm and elbow. It took 3 full weeks, lots of ibuprofen and ice packs but I am now finally feeling a bit stronger and able to start lifting weight. At one point I was uncomfortable laying down, standing up or trying to sleep. There are some great videos on UA-cam showing gentle exercises you can do to help you get better. Hope you get better soon because I know how awful the pain is.

DIY ice pack - 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol & put them in the freezer. You can put them in plastic baggies (double bag them just in case) - sandwich, quart or gallon. Whatever size you need. And you can use one & then get another one so that you always have a cold one. It worked great for me recovering from rotator cuff surgery. They mold very well to your body! Best to you both & be sure to rest & let your body heal. Happy birthday, Tara 🙂

If your shoulder is impinged try this: reach with both arms straight up in the air, stretch a little up and bring both arms down in front of you, toward the front of your thighs. Saw this on a youtube with a physical therapist. Works for me.
