- Is Genie+ in Disneyland worth it? Today we vlog our first full day in Disneyland Resort in California. We ride the brand new Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway with virtual queue, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and more!
I'm Adam Hattan, a family-friendly theme park and vacation vlogger from the United Kingdom, who often vlogs the magic of Disney Parks. I love going to Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Disneyland in California and sailing with Disney Cruise Line. I'm excited to be sharing this wondrous Disneyland vlog series with you!

In this Disneyland vlog, we cover whether Genie+ is worth it in Disneyland. Starting out our day in the Disneyland Hotel, we give you our review of the Karmel Shuttle service from LAX to the Disneyland Resort. It's then off to Disneyland via Downtown Disney! Arriving at the gates, we scan into the park with our MagicBand+ each, then look at booking our first Genie+ return time.
Our adventure begins with a magical welcome on Main Street USA with Minnie Mouse, Chip and Goofy in there Disney100 outfits. We also show some of the Disney100 decorations that have brought a little extra magic to the park and especially Sleeping Beauty Castle, before breakfast at Jolly Holiday. After some Photopass photos in front of the castle, we head to our first attraction Space Mountain! There we show you what happens when you check-in to a Lightning Lane with a Genie+ reservation, whilst wearing a MagicBand+
Whilst in line for Space Mountain, we got our notification to say our boarding group for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway has been called. It was then a hop, skip and a jump over to Mickey's Toontown, which is currently undergoing refurbishment. Whilst on the ride, we share some of the differences from the attraction in Hollywood Studios, in Walt Disney World in Florida. We then ride our favourite version of It's A Small World!
It's then off to a galaxy far far away! Where we managed to get a Lightning Lane for Rise of the Resistance (this was a one time purchase, seperate from Genie+). For lunch, we head into New Orleans Square for a little Moo Moo Sharoo around the winding streets, we meet Red from Pirates of the Caribbean, and then enjoy a table service meal at one of the most popular restaurants in Disneyland, the Blue Bayou. During the meal we share what we ordered, and give you our review on the food quality, service and atmosphere.
For the remainder of our time in the park, we ride Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain and meet Mickey Mouse, Chip and Dale in their Disney100 outfits. It's then back to the Disneyland Hotel, via World of Disney to shop some Disney100 merchandise.
As we were very tired in the evening, we took the time to rest and recoup, before venturing back to Downtown Disney for a quick dinner at Splitsville and a look around the Lego Store.

I've recently started using a walking stick occasionally (and I use those bandages which are great) and seeing gary going around the parks whether walking or in a chair makes me feel confident that disney world and disney land is something i can do. I've done Disneyland on my own several times, I used a walker and it was pretty easy to get around! Now using a powerchair though and going back in September (but this time with the family) and I don't expect any issues at all. You can do it!
Yes, for me too, I will need to use DAS next time we go. I was very worried it wouldn't be doable.

I love Gary pointing out the music transitions as you go to different areas. It's such a subtle thing Disney does and when my friend pointed it out in Florida last year it just goes my mind how seamless the transitions were to different lands.

This series is sooooo good!!! The vibe in Disneyland seems so much more relaxing and less chaotic than Disneyworld. I have been to Disneyland once for a very quick visit, so I didn’t get to really experience everything that the park has to offer….but now I must go back to see all that I missed!! My favorite Disney park. Perhaps it's because I have been coming there since I was a young boy in the late 1950's. I have watched it evolve over the years to what it is today. So many great memories. It's also so compact. One can cover a lot of ground in little time yet it has all the attractions I want to see. Great video guys!

I really appreciate when Gary shows the struggle with mobility and how he manages it has really made me feel so much more at ease as I go away with the family for 3 weeks 20th October to 10th November this year to Orlando disney world and I was so worried as my mobility is so bad at the moment an was panicking about how k would manage all the walking so thank you so much Gary for always been so real an honest and showing that even with mobility issues it can be done. ❤

Loving this series ❤ had the best time at Disney World in December. Ended up using a wheelchair the second week because my long covid became an issue but everyone was so kind. Gary C made me realise it’s ok to admit you need to use aids so thanks to you both xx

I too get nostalgic for I guess what's old school Disney. The other day I heard a song from Pocahontas, and the fact I knew that song and was remembering how beautiful it was. It reminded me of some of all the great SONGS from Disney Films. Then I remembered how you'd hear songs in the parks, on the boats and my heart is melting.

Genie Plus at Disneyland is amazing. We walked on 12 rides the day we used it last April. So worth it. That 100th prize bundle looks amazing. Just entered and fingers crossed. Keep on doing your thing, because we love you two.

OMG I howled laughing when you were on Splash. So we assumed it was going to be the same as WDW, but what a shock!! That first drop had us soaked, like you guys got off lightly, we were drenched through and were wearing jeans. Plus it was November and first thing I the morning, a soggy day ahead I can tell you. Brilliant though, especially when you said "laughing place my arse" 🤣🤣🤣
I said when I got back I'd be in no hurry to go back, but now I want to. We didn't see any of the nighttime shows as we were too exhausted.

I love everything disney and although i have been lucky enough to go to Disneyland Paris when my children were small, i have always wanted to go to the parks in both California and Florida. However i am disabled now with a chronic pain condition so thats not a possibility for me anymore. However, watching your vloggs and seeing the parks through your eyes brings me so much joy. My children have grown up now and my daughter is even more obsessed with disney and is the one who introduced me to your vloggs. She’s hoping to get to visit some point in the future and is picking up your tips to help plan her trip xx
I live in Colorado but grew up in California and Disneyland. You and Gary are so great. I think your World vlogs so entertaining but today made me a little homesick, which is...different. My favorite part of the land is New Orleans Square, my favorite ride is Space Mountain and I adore all the street entertainment. You got to see all of those magical things. I am so glad the park was such a wonder for you and Gary.
