How to make Netholi Meen Peera | Anchovy Stir Fry Recipe | Cutting & Cleaning of Anchovy Fish
Anchovy (Netholi) Meen Peera is a delectable Kerala-style fish dish where anchovies, known as Netholi, take center stage. The dish is prepared by cooking these small, flavorful fish with shredded coconut and a blend of aromatic spices. The result is a delightful and tangy dry fish preparation that captures the essence of Kerala's culinary richness. The pounded coconut mixture adds a unique texture, making Anchovy Meen Peera a savory and enjoyable dish that perfectly complements a meal, especially when paired with hot rice or chapathis.
So here’s the delectable ingredients for you to try it out.
Ingredients :
500 gms Anchovies / Netholi / Mandeli (before cutting & cleaning)
(The cutting & cleaning video is shown)
Main Ingredients :
300 gms net. Anchovies / Netholi / Mandeli (after cutting & cleaning)
3 nos. Kudampuli (Garcinia Cambooge)-also available online (it has to be washed well before using)
50 ml Lukewarm water (for soaking Kudampuli)
To be Crushed / Pulsed :
300 gms Grated Coconut
8 to 10 nos. (25 gms) Shallots (roughly sliced)
½ inch Ginger (roughly chopped)
10 nos (12 gms) Garlic (roughly chopped)
1 sprig Curry Leaves
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp heaped Red Chilli Powder
A pinch Fenugreek Powder (methi powder)
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
20 ml Water
Other Ingredients :
1tsp Coconut Oil (for brushing the claypot)
2 to 3 nos Green Chillies - slit or punctured (use more or less as per your heat preference)
2 tbsp Coconut Oil (use as per your diet restrictions)
1 sprig Curry Leaves
Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon
Use Oil as per your diet restrictions
Use Chillies as per your spice preference
Always wash curry leaves & coriander leaves before use
