Hey! For the VPN, it’s primarily to hide your internet activity. Carriers sometimes slow connection on media sites (UA-cam, Netflix, Hulu, etc.) if you use a vpn, your carrier cant put those limits in place. The recovery fees are not included in the plan although there is a way to get around it if you pay for your plan with referral credits. They are also relatively low in cost.
Mint also charges an extra 'recovery fee' that other providers don't. Their advertised plan does not include the recovery fee. Makes the $75 fee for three months actually cost $91.

Ive been with mint for going on 4 or 5 years now. The service is great. I never run out of data on my 15gb plan. And about the only place i dont get solid 5g coverage is in the bathroom stall at my work 😂
I've had a good experience with mint on the 3 month trial, but im gonna try out US mobile before i commit to mint. I like the idea of being able to teleport if i really need to and its cheaper since taxes and fees are included. Less than $25 a month for 35gb of premium data is incredible
I had ATT for many, many years. It was pretty good till maybe 3-4 years ago. It got shit st work. I work in a factory with metal building. And I'm rural on KY and it even started being bad at home. Lot of people around me had Verizon and got because they would work in very rural spots. I switched over. It was amazing but only able to do unlimited. But more expensive
It's beyond insane to me, it's 2024, and we're still talking about limited/unlimited plans. It should be unlimited by default, it costs virtually nothing to send data.
I signed up for a year to mint and the cell signal is virtually non existent i get many dropped calls and no service appearing , to say i regret sibning for a year is a huge Understatement!!!!!
Ppl need to realize that "stealing" data might just be you using speedtest apps to check your mobile speed. 500mbps speed test for 30seconds is gonna take a huge chunk out of your data.
That's what happened to me on seven day trail. But I gave them another chance and loved them. The only thing I don't like I can't use built in visual voice mail on my Nokia XR 21. But like pixels the mail is dependent on carrier
I've had mint for 4 months, I'm completely happy, the only place that I had no cell service was in the ER, but in the rest of the hospital I had great service . I don't use a lot of data so the $15 5 gig is great for me.
I’m pretty naive when it comes to how the 5g 4g stuff works I’m about to get the unlimited plan and yes I know most people don’t need it but I do with my work will my speeds be slowed down from 5g to 3g after a certain amount of data usage even tho it’s unlimited
No such thing as unlimited data and I'm not sure how mobile companies get away with outright lying about this. You'll get 40GB/m of usable speeds then you'll be deprioritized to 3G which is basically unusable.
Hello Everton! Can you tether with Mint Mobile? In other words, can I connect my laptop from my phone by simply using the mint phone WiFi's username and password?
I just purchased the Mint Mobile 5GB annual plan for $130. I just found out that they added taxes and fees in additional to the annual plan cost! This added more cost to the monthly cost of $10.83 ($130/12). Does all other carriers do this? Another question, if you do not use the full monthly 5GB data allowance, does it roll over to the next month or do you lose it? Thank you!
Hey question how much data do you get before you’re throttled on unlimited? I’m US cellular right now and I’m paying 180.00 a month for two phones and you get 101gb of data before you’re throttled . I’m seeing T-Mobile only gives you get only 50GB , ATT you only get 50gb, Verizon only gives you 30gb , and Tello only gives you 30gb . If I want 250gb high speed data could mint give me that ?
Yeah good service, T-Mobile recently bought them out so I'm gonna get the best plan for me now and see how it works out. I'm by no means going back to VZ the reception is terrible inside buildings in particular my home.
I'm leaving after 3 weeks on a 15MB plan. So many slowdowns then complete blackouts at lunch and dinner at busy intersections in S Sacto. Down to less than 1Mbps, 4kbps, then yes, complete blackout according to Netflix's Fast. Nice interface, great app but lousy data management.
And here I am with 12 days left on my 15gb/month plan with 15gb remaining. But I have Visible+ as my cellular data provider. I can switch back and forth. (I have ATT on my work phone to round out my coverage options.) I've been using Mint Mobile since Aug or Sep 2023. Did the 3 months unlimited for $45 and their recommendation was the 15gb/month. I did my "test drive" on an old iPhone 7 for the first month and then an iPhone 13 Pro to try the 5G coverage before getting my iPhone 15 Pro. You make an excellent point about expensive to add on data. For the costs they charge, you could get a second eSIM on something like Visible for $25/month and have a different carrier and another bucket of data to draw from. For under $50/month one could have two providers and two buckets of data. If one provider has issues or an outage, you are probably covered by the other one. I only use one phone number. I'm not even sure I know my Visible+ number, LOL. I set it's ring to silent.
clickbait title aside, it worked by the way... because i was looking for anything that would convince me NOT to switch to Mint... so the con doesn't really seem like a con to me. i am on verizon and use it as my internet for my household whether we're streaming movies, watching videos, playing music etc. anything you'd use internet for. i NEVER watch videos in a quality higher than 240p because it would NEVER load. i don't even use other video platforms because those videos never load. you can forget streaming a podcast anywhere else. and thanks to this platform in particular being so dang greedy i no longer watch it on my roku because 90% of the buffering is spent on ads. that's where the bulk of my data goes... Advertisements. so i just don't even bother. i buy DVDs and just watch movies on my television. and i have Brave on my laptop and phone, so .... ooh bip potato chip, UA-cam! it's no longer a problem! Still.... right now, in spite of paying for unlimited data nothing loads or takes forever to load. 200 a month for eight years and not even being given what they promised? Supposedly they have enough towers where i live but we're considered low priority. they COULD juice it up some more but they don't want to. Their "marketing plan" is probably to force people like me to pay for a separate device that will provide internet. That will just increase my already incredibly expensive bill. so let's see... 200 a month vs 360 a year? uh... yeah. that didn't take long to decide. as for paying for more data.. No i kinda like the idea of it being cut off because if you need that much data you probably just need to go outside and get some sun. turn off the screens, get a hobby, give your eyes a break etc. go play with your kids or something. or maybe your kids need to go play with other kids instead of staring at a screen all day and night. Save money, save your mental health and personal relationships... i'm sold. it's happening. the cons aren't cons in my opinion.
Was it simple to port your number out when leaving Mint? Some people have said they held their phone number hostage to make it difficult for them to leave
So for Canada and Mexico it has roaming included. There is something called MInternational where you can buy a pass but it's expensive and not worth it in my opinion
I left Mint Mobile because they didn’t support Apple Watch cellular connection. Now I use Visible and they support Apple Watch cellular connection so that’s why I left Mint Mobile after using them for a year.

Can you answer this question ? I just bought the 20GB plan. I mostly use data when I’m driving with GPS about 20 to 30 hours a month. Will my GPS be interrupted do you think? I rely on it.
So GPS data is very low usage. I doubt 30hrs GPS would use 5gb of data. So I think you are more than good with the 20gb plan. If you were to exceed it, the mint mobile service after you use the allotted is enough to use GPS, maybe not a lot else but gps will work regardless

What ive noticed with mint is it constantly disconects service when you have plenty of high speed data but once you run out and get slower service it never randomly disconnects. Thinking the better option is U.S cellular. Mint uses t mobile towers that are not strong in my area. The solution mint staff says is to buy more data😂. Rather moot point if the service is poor.
Wow, give them more $ for service that not performing well in your area. Wow. Yeah I always test drive a service before I commit nowadays. All about location!
I have been with mint for a few years. I find that I like my service through them. I think the reason I have not noticed any issues with data is that I used my computer for streaming mostly, and that's through a fiber service.
That’s not the best way to test if they are stealing your data. If the tablet is broken they have no data to access. Also your devices use data in the background while your phone is on. Basically all apps use data to send you random notifications and harvest data. So I wouldn’t say people are getting data stolen. But not fully understanding how smart devices have to always be connected to the internet to give you all the features you enjoy. Which will use up your data.
i'm currently leaving Mint after 2 years. In the SF Bay area..it worked great and I had no complaints. The price couldn't be beat. I now live in Phoenix metro area and the service here is terrible...zero data and emergency calls only are allowed on my phone most of the time. I recently did some travelling in Seattle and SoCal and also had very spotty slow reception in a lot of areas. Doing what shit? Mint is not for data beasts simple as that. I work from home so the 5gb plan is more than enough for me. Even if I needed more data would have a different service
Most phones have a feature to measure how much data you use. Reset it on the first of a month and then look at it on the last day of the month. Maybe do that for two or three months to get an average. Looking at my phone, I've used 49GB since 22 September, so I'm not a power user by any stretch. That's like 12GB/month give or take. You would have to check with your phone maker (Apple or Android) to see how to reset it for your device. If on an iPhone it's Settings -> Cellular and at the bottom of the dialog you can turn on Cellular Usage Statistics as well as reset them. Near the top, you can see Cellular Data and see how much you've used for the current period, which will be since the last time you reset the stats. If you already have months and months of data, just do the math. I'm sure Android offers the same, but I cannot tell you how as I don't have an Android phone. There are probably UA-cam videos for both iOS and Android.
Cannot even get a hold of a person there and every time my phone in I get a whole bunch of medical crap sales pitches sending my way that I can't get past I'm not going back with them that's it

Do a video on visible if you haven’t already, I’m curious to know which one to pick between the two
I've done a video on visible on the channel. Feel free to check it out
Ive been with mint for going on 4 or 5 years now. The service is great. I never run out of data on my 15gb plan. And about the only place i dont get solid 5g coverage is in the bathroom stall at my work 😂
That's a wild place to be trying to use 5G 😂
It's hard to believe that
I have not signed up for the year yet, still on the 3-month trial. Thank you for all the great info on Mint Mobile.
Very welcome!
Sounds lame too
It's beyond insane to me, it's 2024, and we're still talking about limited/unlimited plans. It should be unlimited by default, it costs virtually nothing to send data.
I signed up for a year to mint and the cell signal is virtually non existent i get many dropped calls and no service appearing , to say i regret sibning for a year is a huge Understatement!!!!!
They have a 7 day buyers remorse. Definitely take advantage if it doesn't work in your location
Thank you for sharing that. It helps those of us who have considered a switch.
Ppl need to realize that "stealing" data might just be you using speedtest apps to check your mobile speed. 500mbps speed test for 30seconds is gonna take a huge chunk out of your data.
That's a valid point!
Super happy to hear this!
What do you think about the Mint 55+ plan?
No signals (4g) and too mmbad 5g. No one responding. But same expected from other vendors
I'm using the S23fe and I do get ultra capacity with Mint.
Yes you can, you can use all of your plans data for tethering except the unlimited and unnecessary plans

Thank you!
It doesn't roll over. Moderate democrat here.
How did you get the yearly plan at that price ?

Yesssss that’s why I’m leaving
Hey question how much data do you get before you’re throttled on unlimited? I’m US cellular right now and I’m paying 180.00 a month for two phones and you get 101gb of data before you’re throttled . I’m seeing T-Mobile only gives you get only 50GB , ATT you only get 50gb, Verizon only gives you 30gb , and Tello only gives you 30gb . If I want 250gb high speed data could mint give me that ?
40Gb of data on their Unlimited Plan then it’s slowed down, the highest they offer is a plan called Unnecessary plan which gives 60GB
Can you add Unnecessary plan to one line and not another if you are doing a family option with someone who doesnt require as much data?@@evertonsway
Yuh, hello, shizzle.... Thinking about the $20, monthly, unlimited plan. Will this work with my samsung galaxy S8+?
Yeah good service, T-Mobile recently bought them out so I'm gonna get the best plan for me now and see how it works out. I'm by no means going back to VZ the reception is terrible inside buildings in particular my home.
I'm leaving after 3 weeks on a 15MB plan. So many slowdowns then complete blackouts at lunch and dinner at busy intersections in S Sacto. Down to less than 1Mbps, 4kbps, then yes, complete blackout according to Netflix's Fast. Nice interface, great app but lousy data management.
Really great video got a subscribe from me quick question what tier of mint mobile are you on?
Google offers a VPN service when you buy their storage plan.
They took it away recently. I used to use it.
I have been with Mint Mobile for 5 years now and I am not about to change carriers unless T-Mobile screws it up.
I doubt T-Mobile will make it worse. It's already gotten better!
I have a question maybe you mentioned it but i missed.
Unused data for every month does that rollover or do you lose it?
Does not rollover. Good question
And here I am with 12 days left on my 15gb/month plan with 15gb remaining. But I have Visible+ as my cellular data provider. I can switch back and forth. (I have ATT on my work phone to round out my coverage options.)
I've been using Mint Mobile since Aug or Sep 2023.
Genius! You just give me a strategy with the two different carriers
Lol about your other phone set on silent and not knowing the number. Thanks for the info enjoyed reading your comment.
Does this work if well if you're an uber driver?
Do you have to change the sim card?
clickbait title aside, it worked by the way... because i was looking for anything that would convince me NOT to switch to Mint...
so the con doesn't really seem like a con to me. i am on verizon and use it as my internet for my household whether we're streaming movies, watching videos, playing music etc. anything you'd use internet for. i NEVER watch videos in a quality higher than 240p because it would NEVER load. i don't even use other video platforms because those videos never load. you can forget streaming a podcast anywhere else. and thanks to this platform in particular being so dang greedy i no longer watch it on my roku because 90% of the buffering is spent on ads. that's where the bulk of my data goes...
Not gonna lie, I love this comment
So, I have a laptop and of course a phone. With XFINITY, I receive 2 bills. I really want to switch to MM. How does this work?
The bill for the phone, use the account #, and contact XFINITY to get the porting pin. Then come to MINT Mobile and port your number over.
@@evertonsway Thanks for your quick response, but is it possible to use Mint for both my phone and PC, and at what cost?
Was it simple to port your number out when leaving Mint? Some people have said they held their phone number hostage to make it difficult for them to leave
No just get on the chat in the app and ask for the pin. Pretty simple and quick.
I want to know if my phone will work while traveling internationally? I hate mobile plans that say they can but they can’t
I think the only thing missing here is international service? Do you have any experience with that???
if you have unlimited the data will never slow down right????????
What's up with the multiple "?"s? Sheesh!
But to answer the question it slows down after your allotted value. They sell buckets of data, not a constant unlimited
Metal mobile home - att, T-Mobile, boost doesn't work. Straight Talk does. So I am not hopeful, but I will try Mint short term to see if it does. It would work with WiFi at work, but that's not where I use UA-cam.

With eSIM you keep the number the sim is digital but you keep your #

Cricket sucks in my area. Used to be great. But than went bad. Apparently they only have one tower now up here.
Do they slow UA-cam/video services on ANY plan or only on the unlimited plan after you've hit the 40GB? SO if I get the 5GB plan, but only use like 3GB a month, would my UA-cam videos still be downgraded to 480p? Thanks
All plans will optimize down to 480p unfortunately. But a VPN solves that. Check out Google One-cheap and I pay for it with Google Rewards surveys

I think success with Mint depends greatly on the area you're going to use the service so definitely take advantage of any free trials before switching
So you mean that mint is good when your in bay area right..

I use wifi calling while at home. Saves data for grocery store, vacation, etc.
Thanks. How do i check the data I use presently, from Straight Talk ($35)
Cannot even get a hold of a person there and every time my phone in I get a whole bunch of medical crap sales pitches sending my way that I can't get past I'm not going back with them that's it
How do we change to Mint with a phone from another service?
