Substance Sequence is exactly the song that proves that Donovan puts a lot of meaning behind his lyrics, rather than just making them "sound cool". Thanks for writing these beautiful lyrics man.
i saw sianvar and secret band play after dgd's concert in the park in sacramento at the assembly. sianvar's singer has so much energy like he was jumping from one side of the stage to the other, all while sounding awesome . definitely an awesome band!
This is so fantastic. Honestly think it's better than all the bands these guys are part of right now. Perfect blend. Lives up to expectations, which is crazy cuz it's a dream lineup, seems too good to be true. I logged in just to write this it's just that good.
A lot of people think the lyrics make no sense at times in these songs, but honestly, there's meaning behind every word. There is a reason it's not an instrumental. It may sound like nonsense, but there's feeling behind what is said, even if it is difficult to interpret.
It's been too long since an LP or EP has resonated with me so immediately. I'm familiar with all of the member's main bands and I'm at the very least a follower of all of them, but this, this is probably my favorite thing to come out of post-hardcore since At the Drive-in. I wish this would become their main project, though I don't see that happening.
not responding to the comment chain about it because it's very old and i doubt the people on it want pinged years later, but what's with the people calling the lyrics to these songs confusing? i SUCK at understanding song lyrics, and even i (mostly) figured out pretty easily what these songs are about. they make use of some odd but interesting metaphors at times, but nothing to obscure the meaning of the song. what are people talking about with "nonsensical"...?
Ray Kon Yea but so is most of Chiodos' discography. Also after listening to more of Will's projects I don't think they'd work well together anyway. Chon/Troy is what we need.
For the people this isn't Anthony green this is Donovan from hail the sun, GO SEE THEM LIVE. I've seen them twice in Houston and they are fucking amazing.
Autoplay turned this on, and I listened to 8 minutes of it before realizing it wasn't Hail The Sun. Jesus, they sound eerily similar. Is it the same vocalist?
I actually had to look it up on various places to make sure this wasn't Anthony Green singing. I mean, holy fuck. It's like Saosin EP Anthony came back, how insane xD
i really don't get people refferring to anthony. i grew up with saosin and many under rated bands. but i think people relate the genre more, cause i'm not hearing it. either way. stop being so edgy guys.
I usually get pretty tired by the same comparison to another vocalist coming up constantly in a video's comments... but holy fuck this guy sounds like Anthony Greene! On my first listen this was playing in the background and I forgot it wasn't an Anthony Greene band for a minute.
Could anyone run down the members for Sianvar for me, I'm lost on the supergroup thing. Would be nice to know where all these guys besides swan and melero, where's the rhythm guitarist/bassist from?
Dude the drumming is a step up, and the guitar is too, and the overall content quality almost always goes up when will swan involves himself with something
So if Tillian Pearson bounces and They don't wanna do one more album with Kurt they should just Make this guy DGD's lead singer. Unless Anthony Green wants the gig.
Yeah but thiers no way he wouldn't go to a whole new level with all Of Dance Gavin Dance. Think about it Will Swan is a music genius that doesn't get the credit he deserves no other band can have 3 different singers and never lose a step at all. Johnny, Kurt and Tillian have multiple amazing songs with them. Kurt and Johnny have multiple amazing albums. and Tillian is just one away now.
TWTNWmusic i see what you mean, Sianvar's vocalist would fit right in with DGD because he has a good voice and the two bands are similar instrumentally, although i don't want Tilian to go anywhere! he's awesome in DGD and i absolutely love his vocals, i'd say he's the best frontman DGD have had
***** :3 I agree, and I too enjoy Tillian. He brings a unique attitude to the band, I hope he stays. I'd like to hear what they put out with him after they work more together, I think it'll be more fine-tuned than Acceptance Speech. :D
The guitar and drums are a little more involved then in Circa work. To be fair they have two very different sounds. Circa work is a lot more personal and atmospheric while this is more technical and in your face at times. Just respect both of them for their achievements in musicmanship and move on. No one is imitating anyone here.
The instrumental parts really differ, although clearly inspired by Circa work, what doesn't bother me at all, i'm pro musical inspiration. But closing your eyes it's easily possible to say that Green is singing all the songs. The singer uses each and every technique traditionally used by Green while singing, from clean vocals to the screaming parts. Telling that it's not about a cynical imitation process is an option to be blind (or deaf) in order to defend the band.
After listening to this EP my standards in music have gotten higher. The musical bar for me has officially been raised.....
Please check out 'The Speed of Sound in Seawater'
?????????????????????
The drums are godly. Favorite drummer rn
Yo, try Giraffes? Giraffes!
Personally, I dig SugaSpaz...and More Skin With Milk Mouth. 🫠
Substance Sequence is exactly the song that proves that Donovan puts a lot of meaning behind his lyrics, rather than just making them "sound cool". Thanks for writing these beautiful lyrics man.
Sianvar has beome one of my favorite bands so quick it's ridiculous
Joe's footwork is always so impressive man. Dude's got the gift.
If Donovan was drunk out of his mind and sang 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, his voice will still sound amazing
Basically Juturna and Translating the Name B sides. Can't get enough of this.
I'm so confused on who is Anthony Green and who isn't Anthony Green anymore.
StopRunningKid lol the lead singer from sianvar's (he's also the singer for hail the sun) name is Donovan
and drummer lmao
Yeah hes the drummer / vocalist of hts
Donavon has a lot more edge in his voice.
@@johnnymarin5035 nah listen to older circa i get where this guy is coming from
I only listened to this EP like 800 times
Will swan takes a piece of me and sets it down at every band he's in.
i saw sianvar and secret band play after dgd's concert in the park in sacramento at the assembly. sianvar's singer has so much energy like he was jumping from one side of the stage to the other, all while sounding awesome . definitely an awesome band!
Listening to Hail the Sun randomly clicked on this....3seconds in and I'm a fan
same here
Same.... just found Hail the Sun too.
BackyardBaseball#Biggs Dickerson I don't know why, but I like this more than HTS. The instrumentals seem more intricate than all the chords in HTS.
BackyardBaseball#Biggs Dickerson, Sky Rasmus Because the vocalist is the drummer and vocalist of Hail the Sun.
Donovan is the man!
I was literally just listening to Dance Gavin Dance, and this came up. My god this is amazing
This is so fantastic. Honestly think it's better than all the bands these guys are part of right now. Perfect blend. Lives up to expectations, which is crazy cuz it's a dream lineup, seems too good to be true. I logged in just to write this it's just that good.
Sounds like a unique mix of DGD and Circa Survive, sounds killer!
yea i love it
Substance Sequence sounds awesome!!!
"he wont ever let her go, she wont ever wanna go"
it has already been 4 years??? fuck, this is still so good
Holy shit. I've been hating circa's new shit so much, and finally its like I'm getting new circa music.
This makes all the sense in the world.
Sensei
jigyoda Oof, harsh brother.
jigyoda idk what you're talking about but all I'm trying to say is I liked music before it was even music.
Go listen to Hail The Sun. Same lead singer, totally Circa vibe.
A lot of people think the lyrics make no sense at times in these songs, but honestly, there's meaning behind every word. There is a reason it's not an instrumental. It may sound like nonsense, but there's feeling behind what is said, even if it is difficult to interpret.

I wish this would become their main project, though I don't see that happening.
im obsessed with this, its so nostalgic, but its the best of both worlds, idk,
get will swan and the guitarists from closure in moscow and we can have a sexy party.
Will Swan is a guitarist in this band.
omg will swan in a dedicated math rock band, that would be a musical wet dream come true
This comment.
Sounds like deftones and the sound of animals fighting with a touch of circa
Indeed
this is amazing i can't believe how much Donovan Melero sounds like Anthony Green
+daniiowl I was just thinking that.
not responding to the comment chain about it because it's very old and i doubt the people on it want pinged years later, but what's with the people calling the lyrics to these songs confusing? i SUCK at understanding song lyrics, and even i (mostly) figured out pretty easily what these songs are about. they make use of some odd but interesting metaphors at times, but nothing to obscure the meaning of the song. what are people talking about with "nonsensical"...?
Wow. I just stumbled upon this and I now love it ^^
I want moar from Sianvar! NOW!
I need Thomas Erak and Will Swan to make an album
i would be in that shit so deep
Aaron Calloway thats good to hear
Aaron Calloway Agreed
Doppelganger Idk dude that chiodos album with erak was yucky
Ray Kon Yea but so is most of Chiodos' discography. Also after listening to more of Will's projects I don't think they'd work well together anyway. Chon/Troy is what we need.
Sianvar is absolutely amazing. Hands down my favorite line up of musicians. Hopefully they create more musical beauty soon!
***** And it's a fucking masterpiece.
Can confirm, the new Hail The Sun album is phenomenal. Possibly AOTY, haven't decided yet
Definitely my favorite this year. The new This Will Destroy You is a close second though.
Soooo ridiculously good!!! Encore!! Encore!!! Encore!!!
found another gem of a band!
i'll check it out. thanks.
This band is a super band. Check out all of the members' other bands if you haven't already.
***** Indeed, check out Dance Gavin Dance, Hail the Sun, Secret Band, and Stolas.
Conspiracy Cat
thanks, i'll check em out.
btw, already listened to some of hail the sun's stuff, and I really enjoyed it. good stuff.
***** The new album is soooooo good.
oh man...I'm about to spend my last penny on every CD they have....Anthony Green brought me here....❤❤
donovan melero has the best singing voice ever and nobody can convince me otherwise
This is INCREDIBLE!
I enjoy this alot, reminds me of circa when they had balls lol.
For the people this isn't Anthony green this is Donovan from hail the sun, GO SEE THEM LIVE. I've seen them twice in Houston and they are fucking amazing.
Sounds just like Anthony green holy shit
nahhhhhhhh
+JOKE485 yea man, a little bit....
ImUndertheSon The style maybe but i can't say it sounds like Anthony. Personal opinion.
I hear Circa Survive.
+Jaime Guerra definitely
Blue Swan Records is pretty good
i just saw an interview of the band and in that interview, will said that his guitar parts are what would a sequel of dont tell dave would sound like
Autoplay turned this on, and I listened to 8 minutes of it before realizing it wasn't Hail The Sun. Jesus, they sound eerily similar. Is it the same vocalist?
ᅚᅚ Yes! :)
+ᅚᅚ Same here!
@Gage Moroney. I completely agree with you. It's like a Circa song inside of a Deftones song. Perfection.
This album cover is fucking dope.
Save me... SAVE ME!!!
Vocalist from Hail the sun?
See seenyour.
Yeah it's Donny
Fuck I'd never realised... makes sense because I always thought they sounded similar
summercide also the guitarist is will swan theyre all from bands like dgd, hts, stolas etc not sure about stolas tho
they're donovan from hts, will from dgd, sergio from stolas and michael and joe from allb
dude where has this been hiding
Some good shit right here!
so many good bands in one :)
Donovan melero and whoever plays with him in any band is very talented I've been a far for years 😘
I actually had to look it up on various places to make sure this wasn't Anthony Green singing. I mean, holy fuck. It's like Saosin EP Anthony came back, how insane xD
Miguel peraza exactly what i was thinking. and a shred guitar like mars volta sometimes. i dunno. this is pretty fucking sick.
Yes it is. Fucking Will Swan, dude's awesome
Sounds like anthony at his best from saosin
It is fucking Hail the sun.
the best EP since elephantitis
sweet new saosin....
is that...?
no...it can't be.
life perspective shattered:|
this is wicked.
I remember the first time I heard
Could i get this in vinyl??
whoa guys.
No its perfect
Man what a good dance gavin dance album
The drums tracks on this ep are absolutely insane! good shit....anyone know if Donovan is on the drums for this ep?
It's the drummer from ALLB
amo esta canción
i really don't get people refferring to anthony. i grew up with saosin and many under rated bands. but i think people relate the genre more, cause i'm not hearing it. either way. stop being so edgy guys.
It's really kurt travis singing
I usually get pretty tired by the same comparison to another vocalist coming up constantly in a video's comments... but holy fuck this guy sounds like Anthony Greene! On my first listen this was playing in the background and I forgot it wasn't an Anthony Greene band for a minute.
Juro que lo intenté. lo escuché completo, pero no pude sacarme la idea de que se parece mucho a circa survive.
wow 11:42 - 11:52 ..... fucking destroy me that was so good damn what a good song
Could anyone run down the members for Sianvar for me, I'm lost on the supergroup thing. Would be nice to know where all these guys besides swan and melero, where's the rhythm guitarist/bassist from?
Angels Breaking Broken Wings im think the rhythm guitarist is from Stolas
bobby mckee bass player too well he played in their live show
Who the killed the culprit? Ahhhhhhh, who shot him down?
this is really good. where can I get this.
you know what I mean.
MUY BUEN DISCO
I really don't understand why this ISN'T Hail the Sun. Same vocals / drums. Literally, coulbe HTS and NO ONE would know the difference.
Different instrumentals I think. Will Swan on guitar and more SFX if i'm not wrong.(Don't kill me I'm kinda new to this.)
Ultimately the entire band is different. Only vocals are the same but stylistically they sound VERY similar.
Dude the drumming is a step up, and the guitar is too, and the overall content quality almost always goes up when will swan involves himself with something
that's Joe Arrington (A lot like birds) for you lol
Only if they had Mario from CHON hahaha. Great band though
So if Tillian Pearson bounces and They don't wanna do one more album with Kurt they should just Make this guy DGD's lead singer. Unless Anthony Green wants the gig.
That'd kick ass but this guy kicks even more ass in Hail The Sun and this band.
Dance Gavin Dance other than maybe their first EP ever hasn't made anything but amazing albums really.
TWTNWmusic i see what you mean, Sianvar's vocalist would fit right in with DGD because he has a good voice and the two bands are similar instrumentally, although i don't want Tilian to go anywhere! he's awesome in DGD and i absolutely love his vocals, i'd say he's the best frontman DGD have had

he likes that wah pedal doesn't he
My left ear is sick of this wah. But this is nice stuff
Dude just said ICEBERG ABORTIONS.... *LIKE* 18:59
first song seems to be missing lead guitar?
You must only have your right earpiece in :p
nah, they both work. maybe it's just my speakers lol
Ya, had the same problem with my surround sound system. Probably not even a problem, i just had my "Speaker A" off. haha
Am I the only mf that still listen to this
nope im just hearing this 4 the first time rn
Check out our new song featuring Donovan Melero! ua-cam.com/video/Lx4OtOM1oDk/v-deo.html
12:57 so fucking good
son geniales xd
Goddammit he doesn't even sound that much like Anthony Green people. You people need better ears and shit.
Tammy Valanche hate to break it to ya, but he does.
Why is the mastering so inconsistent. Your tongue ties is like an A++ and Sick machine sounds icky.
oh em gee sounds just like anthony greeeeene
damn this guy sounds like Anthony green
wtf is this Anthony Green?
Sianvar is:
Donovan Melero - Vocals
Will Swan - Guitar
Sergio Medina - Guitar
Joe Arrington - Drums
Michael Littlefield - Bass
This shit Jam
Pensé que era anthony. Suenan muy similar.
Llega a dar miedo.
I like the instrumentals, but I'm personally not a fan of the lyrical content.
Sky Rasmus Same.
Sky Rasmus I love donovans voice.
Yeah I like his voice, but it's misplaced with nonsensical lyrics.
+Sky Rasmus then youre not gonna like jon mess from Dance Gavin Dance, his lyrics are insane
jon mess is a perfect vocalist. especially in the song People You Know.
I'll just make this clear. This Is Jon mess's non screaming voice. Okay end of discussion
Why try so hard to imitate Circa Survive and Anthony Green?
Isn't try something original good enough?
The guitar and drums are a little more involved then in Circa work. To be fair they have two very different sounds. Circa work is a lot more personal and atmospheric while this is more technical and in your face at times. Just respect both of them for their achievements in musicmanship and move on. If you think this guy sounds anything like Anthony Green then Idk what you are listening to. This guy is awesome but Green is God like.
This is closer to the likes of Sounds of Animals Fighting in my opinion. like Jr says its more technical.
its not his fault sound likes him
the super metal guitar ruins this T_T
