The problem is that people use hate speech as a blanket to suppress other peoples point of view. The whole trans thing is different, people should respect another’s right to be called whatever but at the same time they cannot be held legally liable for not acknowledging their pronoun. No person or ruling body should have the ability to decide right from wrong speech as those are opinionated ideas. Imagine if the law had already been passed when trump got in, what kind of speech do you think he’d ban or deem hateful?
