Fun Fact: in the Apollo Vs Drago When Drago Sees Apollo Come Out to This Song His Reaction Is Real He Never Saw the Set Before Hand but when he saw james Brown come out the look on his face is Genuine
Just watch “Livin with a Hernia” by Weird Al Yankovic. It’s pure treasure from weird Al! And a bit of trivia, Mr Brown have Al permission if he (James Brown) directed Al’s dancing and stunts in the vid. But it’s all Weird Al. Only in America….😎
Yeah, Jagger also got a lot of his moves from James Brown. You might even stay there's a line of "moves development" from Chuck Berry to James Brown to Jagger to Jackson.
James Brown- Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag,Try Me. Motown- Four Tops Its The Way Nature Planned it, Shake Me Wake Me ( When It’s Over) , Keeper Of The Castle. Supremes- My World Is Empty Without You. Stevie Wonder - Master Blaster. Ribbon In The Sky.
As a Canadian, I remember blasting this in my car as I crossed the US/Canada border from Saskatchewan into North Dakota! The border guards heard it when I was rolling up to the gate and the one US border agent started pumping his fist and pointed at me haha. As a Canadian I love America and Americans :)
Excellent job. You really got the vibe of this song and that of Mr Brown. He reshaped soul music and funk and is in that elite group of innovators like Little Richard, Fela Kuti and George Clinton.
Two lesser known James brown songs from his catalog that I can’t do without: Baby You’re Right (makin love music) Out of Sight- great walking base line has a feel that can help even a white boy like me dance. ‘You got your high heel sneakers on, and your slip in mules ‘ is about a song that was sung by one of James backup dancers/ singers. He had the hots for her so he wrote ‘out of sight’ for her. The song was ‘slip in mules’ and the lady was called Sugar Pie Desanto. She must have been SOMETHING! You can find both songs on Star Time (greatest hits) disk number 2.
Biz I agree, Michael may have gotten one or two moves from Elvis but you can bet the bulk of them came from James. He was the quintessential dancing fool.
Got to see Mr. James Brown live in 1884 and 1885 in Philly and Atlantic City. it was so amazing. We were taking bets, hey it's A.C., as to when he would bust out the cape. First song was the answer. He had at least three or four different capes throughout the show, and it was a show. After the show in A.C. were were let out into the casino afterwards, talk about sensory overload. The Godfather Of Soul can do no wrong, on stage. Best songs: I Got You, Night Train, The Big Getback, It's A Man's World, Sex Machine and his appearance in the movie The Blues Brothers.
"...He told the audience of 9,000 at the James Brown Arena that from the age of 6 his mother would make him watch television whenever Brown came on to perform. “When I saw him move I was mesmerized,” Jackson, 48, said. “I’ve never seen a performer perform like James Brown and right then and there I knew that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life." His moonwalk was based on Brown's moves.
half the time i find myself wondering wtf is James saying but it don't matter if it's only a grunt or whatever the fuck it is it always sounds great!!!
@@PaulDA2000 that was i saw in a documentary, he went to jail several times in his life , how long was the case going for before he was sentenced, years can pass between arrest, tail and sentencing. He was on remand awaiting trial. And his lawyers and the film producers requested a parole. ( which happens lot , a relive died and a convict gets a few hours off to attend the service)
@@shanenolan8252 Again I’m telling you that’s not true he did not go to jail until 1988. Whatever information you read is wrong. I saw him live in concert many times between 1984 and 1987.
Apollo Creed tired himself out dancing before the fight. Drago knocked him out for good. Rocky got revenge. It's a good movie. I like it second behind original Rocky.
James Brown was the consummate professional - so much so he pissed off a lot of slacker folks he worked with. Anyone musician showing up dusty (if ya know what I mean) got the boot.
😂🤣😂 Nobody knows the REAL definition of a "Masshole" except us Mainers!! Let me tell you... you guys are something else!!!🤦♀️ Do you drive that way in your own damn state, or do u just come here and turn into complete JERKS??!!!😜 Just playing, but seriously.... wth is wrong with you people??!!🤷♀️😁😂🤣

The actor playing Drago the Russian boxer, Dolph Lundgren, was dating Grace Jones back then. They met while he was her bodyguard and she's the one who pushed him into acting. You should check out her song, La Vie En Rose, a great 80's gem. It's a cover from French legend Edith Piaf's 1947 classic, you'll love it.
Just as you stopped the video to say what showmanship he had, I was thinking it in my head. The man had it going on! Anything Motown would make me very happy btw!
Rock my soul!Living in America !Rocky!Shuffle. Music for my soul and my body. I feel good! MJ takes a lot of his moves from JB,and also from music hall tradition, from people like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly.MJ doesn't take moves from Elvis. He got something else from Elvis,a marriage.
James Brown was colossal
In. 1965. I met my husband & the first album he bought me was. James brown. Mr. Dynamite. My song was. Try me. &. Mother. Popcorn. Love James 💞💞💞
The sax solo. Carl Weathers dancing around in his Apollo Creed red white and blues. The "I feel good!" at the end. I remember this video well.

Please watch Weird Al's brilliant parody of this "Living with a Hernia". James Brown coached Weird Al how to dance like him :D
He also let him film on the same set, use his dancers, and use his musicians too. It's so clear how much James Brown was on board for the parody.

"Hey America"..... just because I was getting down to it around 1971....great record.

THIS is my favorite James Brown song!
Hardest working man in showbusiness. Or the godfather of soul ( his nicknames)

Such a great song from Rocky IV!

I can’t unhear Living With A Hernia. 😂. And the videos are almost identical. Moves and everything.
Michael Jackson undoubtedly took from James Brown, but his biggest influence was Jackie Wilson. You gotta see that guy move!
Imma play this on a rotation out the picture window when we get our real president and country back.

MJ said he owed everything to James Brown
Love this 🔥
Rocky 4 . James was in prison at the time he was paroled for the day to appear in the movie.
That’s not true at all. The movie was made in 1985. James Brown didn’t go to jail until 1988 and he was paroled in 1991.

TRUE AMERICAN!! They dont make good music like this no more😢
If you go Motown's way, Diana Ross and the Supremes, "Ain't no mountain high enough is great"!
Jerry Lee Lewis was a great original too. Playing the piano with his feet. Seriously.

Michael influenced by Fred Astaire, too. The suave parts.
