People say he wasnt a great drummer; music changes the heartbeat, and Ringo tapped into the heart with a fantastic rhythm: thats what people want to hear in music - THAT is music!
Summarizing the comments in all Beatles videos on youtube:
1% - about the song, John, Paul and George
99% - something about Ringo
Ringo is the best Beatle confirmed!
And your glasses!

Ah yes, 1% about the song. Dig the bass and rhythm. John cool shades, Paul no chord, George no amp. 99 % about Ringo: Ringo pawn band equipment and drums for magic jellybeans. Ringo had to lend his kit to Keith Moon. Left drums in yellow sub. Ringo donated his drums to ancient aliens. The list goes on with Ringo.
As it should be.
I genuinely believe this is the best band ever to exist.

This looks like it could have been shot in modern times. The color, resolution and overall visual clarity is almost jarring. Having only seen The Beatles in mostly grainy film footage or old photos, it is surreal to see them look so young and contemporary. You can even make out the stubble on John and Paul's faces. It always feels like finding a treasure when I come across a video like this where the director had the foresight to shoot on quality film-stock and preserve the print.
They look like they did in the movie Help, but the film quality is the best I’ve ever seen of them as a group.
I know....right?? Never seen them in such quality, never knew this vid existed.
The film maker also did the video for Rain I think. I wonder if these are the first rock videos
As important as the clear video is, the outdoor garden is everything. There are no old cars, sofas, lamps, or anything that could date this to the 1960s, as long as they are reasonably well groomed and wearing black. And 77-year-old Paul still plays that same guitar, so it doesn’t look unusual...
It’s obviously edited genious
This song doesn't sound like from the 60s.Sounds timeless and fresh.
yes it's right out of the 1960s and it sounds fresh as h*ll.

@@mastermind-2011 It'll make a million for you overnight!
I'm absolutely sure that this is a heavily remastered probably even remixed version. I know this song in and out, heard it on all formats since the mid 80s and it never sounded so crisp and powerful. Another great example for getting the best out of very old music are the SACD versions of the Rolling Stones albums from a few years ago. They sound like they were recorded yesterday.
They did it all in 10 years, in their 20's. The greatest of all time.

The quality of the film used to record this clip is excellent. It hasn't aged at all. Normally clips from this period look old due to the poor quality of film used. This is like watching The Beatles the day after they filmed this, like we're in 1966 & they are right now how they look in this clip. Amazing. The Beatles had something that set them apart from all other bands & I don't just mean musically, I mean just the look of the four of them together. John, Paul, George & Ringo. There are many bands who go on to be legends & iconic, but The Beatles were legends & iconic while they were still together & producing a quality of music that was inspiring & inventive. They were & still are & always will be quite simply untouchable & unmatched. Amen.
Very true - we still listen to them today and I am sure in 200 years time people will still find their music irresistable!
This is exactly what I was thinking when I was watching it! Must be a newly remastered edition.
35mm film. The same format as Hollywood movies.
The same is true for the footage in the Get Back documentary. It seems like it was made a week ago
Your last sentence, b4 the Amen, is the absolute TRUTH. I completely agree with you. They are & forever will be unmatched. Just perfection. No band, no performer, will EVER be able to replicate what The Beatles did. What's really sad tho is no one out there anymore is even attempting to. Everyone sounds fake and the same anymore. Music really has become depressing in the last 20+ years.
1:23 Ringo doesn't need an instrument with those glasses!

The Beatles were not just a band, they were a part of us.
Just for perspective, ten years before the Beatles the leading recording artist was Bing Crosby, ten years after the Beatles the leading recording artist was Led Zepplin.

LMAO hilarious. But I really think that by this point they had all (besides Paul) had enough of photo shoots and interviews. When you look at their eyes, the fun has gone. . They all look like tired pawns that clued into what's going on.
Truly revolutionary band - they'll never be another band like them
Who won't?
This riff was heavy man. The fact that it came out in 1966 is insane. No one else was doing this.
No one has done it since. either.
Not in 1966, but in 1968 Black Sabbath appeared on the scene and show to the world some really heavy riffs!
Yes they were, THOR'S HAMMER had a song in 66 called "I Don't Care" that was heavier.. The Who, MC5, Kinks, Cream..
I think heavy riffs really started with The Kinks (All day and all of the night)
None of the bands above comes closer to the Tony Iommi riffs!

Yes, I always thought it was amazing how fast things moved in the 60s. The Fabs went from Love Me Do in 62 to I Want You (She's so Heavy) in 1969. And look how much they developed between even 65 and 67. Those two years were a very long time in 60s music

Damn Ringo has superpowers. He can play the drums with his mind!
LOL
And no drums
Those who deny that Ringo was a brilliant rock drummer must listen to how absolutely in the pocket throughout he is here. It's just great drumming and so much more difficult to sustain over an entire song than it may seem. He did this with equal skill and talent on almost 190 Beatle's songs, and dozens of others for himself, etc. He always played to every song and greatly enhanced them. He's one of the greatest rock drummers which professional musicians and especially drummers virtually universally acknowledge.

Absolutely! Ringo played what was needed and what drove the songs. Awesome as he is, a mega-technical drummer like Bill Bruford wouldn't fit, but Ringo did, perfectly.

@Ronald Hinton or... they just preserved the film well and people in the mid 20th century weren't able to show the 35 mm film in full quality on television until a few decades later. when it comes to the beatles the grade of film that was used to record them, around 1965 and onwards were almost always high quality. 35mm film was already extremely good, it's just that back then people didn't know how to use it to the fullest.
It's almost scary to see them as real people.

No one in history or future can do what they did ❤ incredible!
George Martin.....
@@master335 Sure...it was Martin. That's why after The Beatles broke up he went on to greater heights by producing.....yeah....he produced.....hmmm....and then there is that incredible group Martin brought up to overtake The Beatles....ahhhh....yeah...No.
@@master335 I think you cannot take any of the 5 Beatles out and create a Beatles song... GM for certain was the perfect person to produce them... he was the education and the one who could take what they were developing and create a tune... without that they are nothing... but again no writers ... nothing for Martin to glue together... because he was the one in the early days that could get them to get beyond the dev to actually then sit down for a month and do all the parts and record... that parts work and they hated that...
Ringo's not bored - he's just mesmerized by how great his band is
Agreed!!!
Ringo is that type of guy who doesn't make nothing in the class, but still passing

He doesn't take notes or cheat but he aces every test
Because he doesn't need to study.
1960's: Ringo sits around earning royalties while the band is strumming.
1980's: Ringo married Barbara Bach.
2019: Ringo is still alive.

Except Paul's should be a bass, pointing in the other direction.
I would have, but:
1: they didn’t have a bass emoji (they should)
2: I can’t tilt it left

This is a perfect pop song. The unaccompanied harmonies at the beginning, then the brilliant guitar riff, followed by that superb driving bass line and Ringo's rock-solid drumming. The older I get, the more I come to appreciate how great the Beatles were (and I was around when this came out, so I've done a lot of getting older).
I agree. I was just 9 when they broke up but we always liked their songs. Now I listen to the Sgt Pepper album or Rubber Soul and realize how great they were.
"rock-solid drumming"? ringo, the most dispensable member of any band, in the history of music
@@terenceoneil7670 Isn't it strange how Ringo is held in such esteem by so many top drummers? I'm guessing you're not a top drummer.
@@Pwecko esteem because they're being nice; i've listened to every beatles song, and every zepplin song; ringo couldn't play the simplest john bonham peice: PERIOD
@@terenceoneil7670 John Bonham / Keith Moon and many other great drummers would have ruined most of the Beatles songs. I met Bonham and he was perfect for Zep. Ringo was perfect for the Beatles, tasteful and varied, they knew it but you might think you know better...my guess is that you are wrong and the Beatles were right.
This song brings back wonderful memories. If you had told me I would grow up to become a "paperback writer" back in the sixties, I would have laughed at you. If you had told me I'd be writing and recording songs, I would have laughed again. Because of the Beatles, I am now both. I bet so many out there can say the same thing.
I love how they do excessive zoom ins on Ringo being lonely and sad

I'm in love with Paul's bass playing. And he makes it look so effortless.
The thing is he looks slightly different from Paul of Dec 1966 onward.
@@2410-s9l oh give up with this nonsense you really think he died your a fool 🤡

That's nothing. Ringo is playing the drums so effortlessly you can't even see it.

can we just appreciate how beautiful they all look in this video xxx
THAT GUITAR TONE!
The perfect overdriven sound. Chased by us guitarists for decades!
Please tell me how they did it.

That's some seriously good bass playing from Paul McCartney.
Totally innovative for the day. He was on fire.
Agreed. He may not have been a "virtuouso" but he was a master of perfection.
@@comfortat They all had such a great sense of melody, that's what stood out about them the most to me.
@@jeffmurdock8321 seriously. No one in the history of music can match them.
I highly agree...so why at 1:50 am I not hearing it? His run at the end here and bass work on the flipside "Rain" made people realize "Hey, he's not just cute. He's a pretty damn good musician!"
What a rockin' riff!!!
McCartney's bass sound at the intro was incredibly unique for mid-60's. Listen, sounds like punk or funk 15 years later. A true musical innovator.
Actually, this innovation waa done bij Geoff Emerick (the engineer)
For this particular recording he rewired a speaker to use it as the microphone for the bass.
This way they would record more low frequencies
Thanks for the insight!@@frieswijk
Paul also played the lead guitar on the recorded version. It was Paul's riff.
And he’s on guitar on this as well…basically the first crunch chord guitar song. He is just the most astounding musician of the century.
Much better than punk (which has its merits). It was great)
What really blows me away is the quality of the restoration of this film. It's in superb high definition, looks like it was just made yesterday on digital equipment, not in 1966 on a reel-to-reel film recorder.
When you add to that the fact that the Beatles would still look cool today in 2021 wearing those exact same suits and glasses if they played live, with those beautiful guitars (I have a soft spot for John's Sunburst Eppiphone Casino, before he sanded it down to bare wood, and George's Gibson SG), you realize how ahead of their time they really were. In 1966 they were wearing 2021 suits!
I'm pretty sure this was shot on 35 mm film, which is why it looks so good.
If recorded on high quality film, you can upscale it to HD or now to 4K resolution. Brilliant.
People wearing 2021 suits are retro. LOL--dafuq you talking about? How old are you that you think now is the only influential time?
@@lemurianchick way to miss the point dork lol
Analog has advantages. Star Wars prequels were shot with 1080p cameras, and it is harder to make them 4K.
