How do you tell the difference between Enterobacteriaceae and Coliforms? I have viewed videos where both resemble each other with or without the gas bubbles; I would like to be able to identify each bacteria from the other.
Hi, This is Petrifilm EB. Enterobacteriaceae colonies will appear as red colonies associated with yellow zones, red colonies associated with gas bubbles, red colonies associated with yellow zones and with gas bubbles. In case you would stil like to estimate Coliforms in EB plate, you could count red colonies associated with gas bubbles. And this way is not official. To confirm Coliforms, you should use Petrifilm EC or Petrifilm CC, where Coiliforms colonies will appear as red colonies associated with gas bubbles.
