Used to have a very small group going back in Ver 1.0. A couple people dropped out due to the entry price for entering Ver 2.0 (not from the states, so in addition to the upgrade price per faction, we have extra shipping costs). That basically killed the group and also my interest. Of late though, the feeling of wanting to play has been coming back. Unboxing videos like this are starting to stoke the flames. Might have to try convince some old squad mates to fly with me again.
I can totally relate to your box issue as a gaming dad. However, my kids normally open the box, see a model, and slowly back away. They know that only daddy plays with models. :)
They need to make a "hesitate" condition for Ren. 'If you wait longer than 5 seconds to declare a shot during your turn, an adjacent friendly model with a lower pilot skill, within range 1, can add 1 additional attack dice during it's shooting phase.'
Once upon a time I made a post on Reddit about how off-scale the 1.0 TIE Silencer was and it got all kinds of incredulous responses. Looking at this new one and it is painfully obvious how wrong they were with the original.
Whoa, I knew the original version was off-scale but not to this extent. I might need 2 copies of the new one now, instead of just 1... not sure I'll play the big one anymore, and having both on the table, in the same list, would look weird.
They were. I looked up the actual length them compared it to the actual length of the transport tie thing from Rouge One. That really shows how off it was.
I think FFG dropped the balll here. They could have easily come out with a title that had some prototype that made it smaller on one side and some other for the large one. It could have basically been a two ship release in one pack. Something like the small one has -1 attack, 1- hull, but can evade, and the big one is normal. The title could have lowered the cost of these and made for another type of silencer completely. More options are good for the FO
I think that they made it very week. It's one of a kind ship, Kylo Ren's personal starfighter, a TIE Defender 2.0 and in game it has only two shields, while generic TIE sf has three? No way Kylo would fly a starfighter that is less shielded than FO's generic one. Looking to the in-game's TIE Defender, I think they had to give to TIE Silencer 4 shields, that would be just perfect. Just increase it's points cost. Despite this, the model itself looks gorgeous, as always!)
@@cameronmcarthur4044 Been here awhile. Started before the First Order was released. Sorry if my disappointment with the 1st ed model and my relief that as Empire I wouldn't need to spend money on this to complete a collection or competitively play my faction bothered you. But, props on the snide trolling and gatekeeping.
The differences are pretty surprising. It's going to be fun explaining that one over and over.
Disney fucked up. End of story. You can use the same explanation for the new trilogy.
Never got the 1st edition one cause it was WAY too big, I love this one :)

As a dad who plays Armada and xwing, I can totally relate too this video.
Also the price went down. 1E silencer was $30. and 2E is $20. Who says FFG is a cash-grabbing conglomerate?

Awesome model! I am glad he also said where he got it from, maybe my local Barnes and Noble also released wave four early.
Wow seeing the two together, the scale difference is something else.
Thanks for the vid! I'm looking to add these to my collection. *insert cheesy General Grievous meme*
So glad they fix it!
Really glad they fixed the size of the silencer.

It's gonna be fun explaining the scale difference to newer players haha
Disney didn't tell FF shit about the ships before the movie came out. Same thing happened to a ton of lego sets which are abominations.
@@kyle857 The second edition ones are accurate I assume then? (new to this game)
I'm curious..was the silencer 2.0 the only xwings miniature that was resized? What about the other tie fighters?
Probably not going to pick one up since I have two from 1.0 converted, but hey the scale change is interesting

Just looking up its actual length on the wiki showed how wrong the first one was.
Like the resize. But not sure if I will get another
That is kinda goofy how much they messed up the scale of the first to second edition ships.
Always said the 1.0 model was too big, this new model looks beautiful!
The smaller one does look much more accurate
I hope it'll be easy to snap up an extra big boy with people getting the new one, as I've been wanting to try double silencers.
Double silencers is a fun build.
I may not need another TIE Silencer, but this looks like a great model
Looks cool but yea I like my bigger 1st ed version better :)
What other goodies will wave 4 reveal? I was not aware the Silencer was a release.
Tented to pick up the new edition silencer and paint the old edition one now
And now
all i can imagine now is Muppet Baby Gonzo in a Kylo Ren mask flying around lol.
The older one looks like it could be in scale with the Battlestar Galactica: Starship Battles minis.
Really cool looking ship!
That’s my favorite tie
I'm actually buyinng 2x Tie Silencers 2e and never using my 1e models in-game. Most likely, I'll be using my 1e Tie Silencers in dioramas
When will you show YT-1300?

love the silly voices
That is a big difference .... I think the new one will look better when on the board with other ships
Another great unboxing
I like the smaller one for play
1.0 edition always seemed oddly big I like the 2.0 much better
Officially when using a Silencer in a game you’re supposed to use 2.0 correct? Technically speaking the 1.0 (larger version) is just obsolete now.
Scale has always seemed... varied across the range, but I always thought the 1st Ed Silencers seemed waaay too big.

Interesting ships. I want both also.

I know what I'll be picking up soon :-)
The scale is sooo much better.
Don't worry my daughter opens most of my packages as well
Crazy how off the scale is in the 1st edition one.
Disney didn't give them good info. Same thing happened with a ton of lego sets for the new trilogy.
Gonna make the bigger one the prototype..gonna fly 2 2nd edition
So wave 4 cant b much more longer... :)
There is so big difference
The smaller one looks better
I think I like the new smaller one better. Definitely the best looking FO ship.
chonky silencer is a bully!
Still a sexy lil edge lord ship
1.0 was too large and inaccurate. 2.0 fixes both issues.
stayed strictly Empire, so glad I didn't buy 1st ed and won't likely invest in 2nd
Thanks for making your way to an X-Wing unboxing video to tell us that.
