I got to know this series recently, certainly because of Tom's success in his last work that became so famous. I'm just blown away by Tess and Jake, a toxic love af, but I love it. Sad to hear that we won't have a sequel, but I believe Jake chooses Simone and Haword doesn't listen to Tess at the end. The only one hurt will be Tess, but she's too young and too passionate to see that. Passion makes us blind.

I think that Jake and Tessa’s relationship is toxic af.
Sometimes we try to find someone like ourselves and heal him, instead of digging in our unconsciousness. After we know ourselves then we can choose someone good.
It's not always about saving them, for some they find a kindred spirit in them, it could feel like a journey into the unknown. Howard even said in the pilot that tess is brave, the heart seldom listens to logic when it wants someone. The thrill and the danger of a new adventure wrapped in a Very attractive package, I can see why she'd choose him.

Eu assisti a série e li o livro Sweetbitter. Achei a série bem fiel ao livro, mudou algumas coisas como a participação maior do Will na série, no livro ele é secundário. O que tenho a dizer: Tess é uma menina, inocente, jovem, apaixonada pelo cara rebelde e que no final vai perceber que Jake é mais fiel à Simone, sempre foi assim ao longo da vida deles e não vai ser uma garota inocente que vai mudar isso no Jake. No livro [SPOILER] Jake marca um sabático com Simone, eles iam viajar juntos para a França e Tess descobre. Na série ela vai até o Howard pra incentivá-lo a demitir Simone, mas a terceira temporada acaba nesta parte. No livro, Tess transa com Howard (????) e todos do restaurante ficam sabendo, sussurram pelos cantos, como Tess pode fazer isso? Ela muda de restaurante, segue com sua vida, não parece se arrepender do que fez. Eu fiquei decepcionada por uns dias com esse fim do livro, mas achei muito vida real o fim de Tess. Pense que ela é bem jovem, Jake foi apenas o primeiro de muitos que virão pra bagunçar/mexer com nossa vida. E acredite, Tess segue com sua vida em New York, é a vida, tudo começa, termina, começa, termina... Infelizmente não tem mais série, não tem mais livros, não tem continuação. Guardo Tess no meu coração pra sempre.
Qual é a sub-trama entre a Simone e o Jake? Isso não fica tão óbvio na série e eu não comprei o livro por saber que o final era esse. Mas me intriga essa relação da Sereia que eles tem.
@@ladaiareal1506 então, o russo que chama a Tess de baby Monster, esqueci o nome dele, ele deixa explícito que o Jake e a Simone transavam durante anos, talvez na época que ele conheceu a tess eles já não estavam fazendo isso mais, só que é uma relação que vai além da família e da amizade como eles pregam. São coisas que eles dizem que só eles entendem, sabe como é né, tipo primo se pegando hauahauahauaha E no final a Simone estava marcando uma viagem de um mês com o Jake pela frança escondido da tess, parecia que a Simone estava querendo resgatar algo pq ela viu que a tess estava dominando o Jake. Não vou escrever muito, lê o livro, eu adorei e recomendo pra quem gostou da série, pq não vamos ter continuação mesmo... Só resta a gente decidir o fim.
Uma coisa bem interessante. O livro é baseado em uma das aventuras da própria escritora. É por isso que não tem continuação, porque a aventura acabou naquele final do livro. Não lembro bem onde vi isso, mas o livro é baseado na vida dela.
