    I'm still a beginner. Breakfast foods are one thing, but dinner dishes are another. Doesn't help that to this day I'm quite picky with food. Hopefully this channel will help me get started and break past those boundaries.

      Struggling with finding the spark to want to cook. Living off of unhealthy microwaved fast food I’ve always been a lazy cook. How can I learn to love cooking? I never cook unless I need to and it’s never healthy. If I could want to make healthy foods you would definitely change my life.

    • @karok.9076
      @karok.9076 3 роки тому +2

      @@stephaniealanis2221 Personally I found the "spark" the moment I cooked by myself, not when someone told me to cook. I liked being able to experience and try out new techniques, recipies and ways to make food and learn about food culture in different countries. There are also a lot of different kinds of vegan recipes out there that I totally recommend, but don't start with anything too complicated since failing will lead to frustration which can lead to giving up on cooking as a whole.

    One thing i learned most people don't do when following recipes is don't sweat it keep trying and trying and also taste your food with each new ingredient you put together to make the final dish. When i see new cooks do it they don't even taste the food for each step cause most of the time the recipes is not going to be for your liking so you might have to tweak it a little bit.

    I have a question what if your starting to cook chicken for example and your grossed out by it but your parents season the chicken but you cook it but you can't do the preparation because you grossed out by it ?
    For me I have no cooking skills nor do I have any technique and my cooking is not consistent it never is consistent really cuz I never cook that much at all I did it a few times and they all fail especially with the preparation part, and I even done Fried Chicken once and that did not go well because the inside was still pink and the coating was peeling off either by too much coating or too much heat and every time I cook the food that Mother season I tend to add a little bit more what I needed.

      Unless you start cooking and preparing the food by yourself, the inconsistencies won't go away.

      I'm in a similar boat. Raw chicken can make me gag. Nasty stiff. It helps me to use tongs to transfer it. For the smell, I can use a "covid" mask with a little pouch of dry coffee grounds in it, so I smell coffee instead of chicken.
      The only way I have been able to cook chicken without it being over or undercooked (especially when it's hard to see color in a poorly lit room and I'm scared it's raw even if it shreds right but don't want it chewy) so far is: bring a pot of water to boil (enough water to cover the chicken pieces, but not much more so it doesn't spill over) (visually boiling enough that a child would call it boiling), then use tongs (so it doesn't splash and you don't have to touch it) to drop in raw unfrozen/defrosted chicken tenders (nothing on them) (if you don't have tenders, you can slice up whatever chicken you have into a general tender size), let them boil (don't change the temp, just keep it where you had it) with no lid for exactly 10min with a timer, remove them with the tongs placing the super white unseasoned tenders into/onto whatever heat safe dish you have, let them cool for a while until they are just warm and you can eat it without blowing on the food while it's already in your mouth (so they finish cooking through). Done. You can eat it as is, or add different pieces to different dishes when you know what to cook with them. If I use them in another dish, I cook the dish first (without the chicken), tear the tenders into smaller pieces, then toss them in the pan of flavors with the dish at the very end just to warm up the chicken and mix it into the meal without losing moisture (don't want chewy meat).

    Y'all always ask for comments. I want to tell you why I want to learn to cook, but honestly not from you. It's nothing personal, but you're energy level is so mellow it made me sleepy. My parents are teachers. You have to make people get excited if they're going to learn from you. God bless you in your efforts.
