Yeah but they should ask how long it would take for each one and then call back. No matter how long they say it will be faster than just sitting there. They did order multiple trucks and have to pay for it.
that's why you ask "how long do you expect till you arrive". What the car owner did was a dick move, they basically wasted at least one tow truckers time when they could of potentially been at another job that actually needed them.
This happened to me one time. A customer called every single tow operator in the state, including the 'club'. I live in Rhode island, the smallest state in the union, so this is actually a feasible thing. I was third to arrive on scene, by the time we figured out what was going on, there was 13 trucks on location. At the end of the day, all 13 drivers refused service. Forcing the customer to get towed off the highway by the state police at significantly increased cost.

Also retired hvacr and one call back in the 80's where I showed up but was the 2nd arrival, I charged and customer, then, did a chargeback and I lost the money. Bank told me to start charging and extra 4% to make up for duds that do that. That's why everything is so expensive.
In the days before cell phones became a thing, I broke down on a major highway…after poking around under the hood for a bit, I was sitting there wondering how to go about getting a tow, when two tow trucks arrived almost simultaneously with each driver telling me who was better/cheaper. I picked the guy closest to my vehicle and all was good but there were stories in the newspaper back then about swarms of tow trucks searching out breakdowns on the highway then literally fighting each other for the tow.
Also sounds like a situation of the driver calling their own tow company and the officer on scene being impatient or not willing to understand that the customer called their own tow company and hitting the rotation button too soon

I had several calls where they contacted AAA (Im employed at an independent contractor) and never cancled the AAA after having another company tow. People hate the default 1hr arrival time. Guys, if you break down on the weekend: Tow it then and there. Mondays are annoyingly busy.
Yup, when this happens, most companies near me know how wrong this is & we work with each other... If they don't cancel before you arrive... the other company legally is entitled to a service call fee because they didn't cancel. Plus you're now unavailable to serve other legit customers or risk losing them due to having to give a longer ETA. their phone call to request service & get a general pricing etc.. creates a verbal contract for service. I know companies that will add extra on to their bill if they try to refuse to pay. It's also the fastest way to get your number Blacklisted/blocked so you won't ever get help in the future. We block their number when they play companies against each other doing that.
I’ve experienced 2 tows personally which were not terrible I guess all under 1 hour. But one time my dad had to wait hours to get a tow. I can see why people would call multiple places. I think getting a real approximate time or talking to the actual tow truck guy to see where he’s actually at and not their dispatcher just adds more confusion.
Hopefully insurance companies and law enforcement gets the same treatment as that young lady, and gets a show up charge. She was probably desperate to get off the road.
It's bad that you don't get paid hourly as puts more pressure on you if it's per job but I'm glad you told her exactly how it was and it wasn't cool to call multiple companies to see who gets there first, disgusting behaviour tbh
The girl she's probably already traumatized being so the wheel fell off her car and apparently she could have had an accident. So apparently tow trucks drivers expected her to wait for them 3 hours when apparently a truck was able to get there quicker. What I don't understand is why in the world would he go through all that trouble to turn around wine and complain about being late about picking up the vehicle? What did he expect her to wait on him all day long? Arrived at the scene late didn't wine and complain because you couldn't hook the vehicle. Unbelievable I would pay the fee and then take you to court.
This is the most ignorant take lmao. You must have absolutely no real world experience. It's always ignorant broke people threatening court. Bring it on, you just lose more money in the end. Traumatized btw LOL
@gman8578 remember he also passed on the offer of the tow truck driver willing to let him have the tow. He doesn't want to tow it. Now he wants to charge a fee for what service? If he was three hours late. He shouldn't be asking for anything! Instead, ,He should apologize for the amount of time it took to get there! He knew there was a chance that she would either be there waiting or possibly not! This is not good business. I would have said, "Kick rocks sir. what are you going to do if I don't pay?"
@22KingRancher I drove for 25 years in Harri County Tx.(Houston) The kind of stuff don't fly. You can't charge for something like that unless it was explained and authorized beforehand. Also, He passed on the offer to tow it as well! The other driver was understandable. He declined and now wants a payment? Tow truck drivers get less respect everyday. This is a perfect example of why Towing Industry is hated!
I've got both AAA and Geico for roadside, I've needed a tow and after trying AAA with no tow available after 25 minutes I then proceeded to try Geico for tow? If one don't respond why wouldn't I try another? Especially if stuck in roadway I'm calling whoever responds. It's easier to call than try and use their apps.
I drove in Harris County Tx. for lil 25 years. I understand how you feel Dustin. That being said, The other driver offered you to take the tow. You declined that offer. That is wrong to say the lady owes a show up fee. How can you charge for a service that was not provided. If we did anything like that here, several things would happen. 1, the driver would be fired, and money refuned to the patron. 2, driver would have a hard time finding a job with any other company. Charging someone a show up fee has to be authorized before any fee can be charged. Some companies have customers pay a partial up front for dispatch of tow truck. I have many friends and family in the business still to this day. Not one of them agree with what you told the lady. Especially after the other driver offered for you to go ahead and tow the vehicle. You should not be able to come back and now request a fee for something, especially after passing on the tow!
I think the show up fee is the best answer. If it's an honest mistake, yes, it sucks, but they will take steps to make sure it never happens again. If they think it's a slick trick to save a couple of minutes, they will learn that spending minutes is easier than spending dollars.
Seeing another company was already there doing the tow, not sure why you even stopped for this one. Keep going to the next call and just let it go, some drivers are just inconsiderate a-holes nothing you can do to change that. Anyway, Happy Holidays Dustin!
Am just wondering I had a deal where I ran off the road got stuck and a cop himself called a tow truck well I told him I had someone coming he refused giving me or the person I had coming he said he was not letting anyone pull me when the sheriff came up the cop realized I had the sheriff going to pull me out when the tow truck guy asked if am paying him I refuse because I never asked for a tow truck I told the cop I had someone coming he was rude ASF from the beginning he demanded me said no one was hooking up to my truck so I asked was I wrong not paying or should the cop that was rude he wasn't letting anyone pull me out pay after he wouldn't listen to me at all and kept demanding me saying he wasn't going to let anyone idc who they are no one was pulling me but the tow truck should i paid him or the cop for calling and not listening to me about the sheriff his boss was coming i tried telling him
I can't tell how many times I've called for a tow, been told 45 minutes and then after 1 1/2 to 2 hours told we can't make it. I could've called someone else if they were honest to begin with.
Not cool batman to do call multiple tow companies. With modern technologies, there are ways to get status updates on when driver will show be there. What video editing software do you use?
A real tow truck company or a driver with respect would have been like oh sorry you have a good day and walked away cuz there's another car in the sea he can fetch another fish in the sea
Ah , i think you just admitted who caused the problem, dispatcher who passed it on the road. No one called , she just seen it on the way to work, and figured she'd get a driver to go out and be the first one there, not knowing the driver already called a tow company. Yup figured thay out real quick

I agree 👍 💯
Sorry that happened. That's total crap. Thanks for all you do Dustin.
Not good 😢
The wrecked one is a pain to load and deliver.
@@22KingRancher The most important thing is that she's okay. I'm sure if the girl would have died he still would have wanted his money 😂
Would your comment be different if it was an older fat male in the driver seat?
Alwell! Just look at it as a another day. As long as your still getting paid at the end of the day, thats still a win in my book. 🙏👍❤️
love that phone holder. where did you get it.
What kind of mont are you using for your phone and camera.
I'm glad I signed up for AAA.
Does this mean I can bill tow truck companies when I call one and they never show?
We all have bad days and good days
You stop that kind of thing by charging people a deposit up front thats all, plain and simple.
Yea well it should be against the law to waste a tow company's time when they already called one
Dustin has to get paid somehow, he’s not gonna show up to a call he was dispatched for and not get paid for it lmfao
Chrysler 300 is my favorite
I think the show up fee is the best answer. If it's an honest mistake, yes, it sucks, but they will take steps to make sure it never happens again. If they think it's a slick trick to save a couple of minutes, they will learn that spending minutes is easier than spending dollars.
Of course she acts all innocent….
Ive been in a situation like this but i called the tow company back and let them know i found someone quicker 🤷♂️
Seeing another company was already there doing the tow, not sure why you even stopped for this one. Keep going to the next call and just let it go, some drivers are just inconsiderate a-holes nothing you can do to change that. Anyway, Happy Holidays Dustin!
I stopped to collect the money that was owed for the service I was there to provide.
i agree with you 💯 percent
Ive had this doing furnace repairs. Usually we both look at each other, laugh, then both leave
I seen your hands shaking at 4:50 and stress always shows in body movements somewhere. It also causes high blood pressure. Be careful.
On average, how many vehicles would you say you tow a day?
Usually tow drivers are to busy or gonna be couple hrs.coming, while you stuck on the hiway in midfle of traffic.
I waited 2.5 hours and had multiple tow trucks pass me. So I get why ppl do this.
that's yall's yard? I was there about a month ago released a explorer from there, nice trucks yall have.
Yep, that’s the yard. lol
Battery under passenger seat. Grand Cherokee are the same
Used to have a 2006 Chrysler 300C. It threw a rod at 270k miles.
Hey.... no more bed rail cam?
It's never anyone's fault 😂 Nobody ever knows what happened. It's always the same story
Funny how that works lol
12:02 Do they pay for the these failed tows after each attempt?
Hey nice tow truck, what’s the length of the truck bed ?
20ft
Not cool batman to do call multiple tow companies. With modern technologies, there are ways to get status updates on when driver will show be there. What video editing software do you use?
A real tow truck company or a driver with respect would have been like oh sorry you have a good day and walked away cuz there's another car in the sea he can fetch another fish in the sea
I like your drag racing tattoo
People do this to taxi companies too. God it pisses me off.
He’s doing the right thing by charging them for doing dumb stuff..people I swear man 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Like he said,he gets paid by the job, commission, scam, show up,pay me,No!See you in court...
He's a Twitchy Dude...
Ah , i think you just admitted who caused the problem, dispatcher who passed it on the road. No one called , she just seen it on the way to work, and figured she'd get a driver to go out and be the first one there, not knowing the driver already called a tow company. Yup figured thay out real quick
When the customer calls for service, tell them you will run the card right then for a deposit, and get their approval on a recorder.
We do that for winch outs.

I would totally do a call out fee for this 100%!!!!!!!
I think that whatever tow companies that should up should charge them something
When you were on the phone ,that other driver operator of the Kenworth had a missing fire extinguisher from the bracket below his seat. Unless you tow truck drivers set up different, he has alow hanging fruit for a violation during a DOT inspection.
We aren’t subject to DOT. It’s not a commercial vehicle.
@@Towtruck_Dustinanything over 9,999 pounds is subject, even if you’re under 26k and don’t require a CDL. Correct me if I’m wrong, how a tow truck wouldn’t be under FMCSR?
How is a tow truck that is used for hire, not a commercial vehicle?
Kind of a rough day. Did all that and didn’t really accomplish anything 😀. One of those days. Tomorrow will be better.
Oh man😅 gotta love those mishaps!
You cant by law demand a show fee. Thats totally unethical
Just because they show up,and did not clear it before they got there,is a scam tow companies do,and demand a fee for a show up even if they don't tow your vehicle.Let them take you to court,no contract no case...They hook up and try to tow and charge to drop and scam that way too,scam.corrupt.If they would be legit, they wouldn't have 2-3 trucks showing up and you would pay only one company.scam!!!
I am glad they had to pay for you showing up!! it is only fair!!
That's one of the most aggravating things a customer can do. Call multiple companies to see who arrives first. I've learned this the hard way before. I charge my customers before firing any truck up because of these bad apples 🍎. They mess it up for the honest good people unfortunately.
They would definitely be paying up, some folks are so impatient, tow truck drivers has a rough, dangerous job, game playing calling multiple trucks would infuriate me 😏
