Just letting you know how to get to heaven 🫶🏼 State of Grace= heaven. State of mortal sin= hell. You can look up the difference. Once you commit a mortal sin, turn from it, meaning stop doing it and ask Jesus for forgiveness to enter the state of grace. If you fall back into mortal sin, keep turning away from it and asking for forgiveness, God bless ✝️
I was born and baptised Catholic but in my early 20s began the happy clappy Protestant song and dance that lasted off and on for decades until I discovered my Catholic heritage in my 50's. Now I am a devout Catholic because it fully satisfies my soul that Protestantism never did, but I still really appreciate my Protestant experience because it led me to the deep truth of Catholicism.
And what is that deep truth? To do whatever the priests can think of next? Change positions over time to stay relevant? Commit heinous crimes and emit a half assed apology centuries later? Idolatry? Or what?
@xtreme survival If your point is that there are worst thing in there (Catholic church)? Yes, there are. About the idols and art and that any man made thing can be an idol, that would be true if we prayed to art, or asked our paintings for favours, no one does, don't pretend it's the same. I didn't bring up child molestation, but you did, why is that? Saying that the priests teach the same as Jesus, is the same as saying the Pharisees were following perfectly well God's will cause they got their teachings from Moses and he learned from God directly; so Jesus shouldn't have rebuked them... Yea... And no-one has answered my question: What is that deeper truth? All you can mutter are half assed defenses.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Hail Mary” and portions of the “Hail, Holy Queen” are blatantly unbiblical. While the first part of the Hail Mary is almost a direct quotation from Luke 1:28, there is no scriptural basis for (1) praying to Mary, (2) addressing her as “holy,” or (3) calling her “our life” and “our hope.” Praying the rosary involves giving attributes to Mary that the Bible never gives her. To call Mary “holy”-the Catholic Church teaches that Mary never sinned or had any taint of original sin-is not biblical. The Bible calls all believers “saints,” which can be interpreted as “holy ones,” but Scripture says that the righteousness believers have is the imputed righteousness from Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).
@@roselaqueen3105 Elizabeth called her blessed, hail Mary full of Grace is from the Bible, and was how the angel Gabriel addressed her... The next part of the prayer comes from Elizabeth when her child leaps for joy as soon as he hears her voice... Then the rest of the prayer is asking her to pray for us... If we thought she was God why on earth would we ask her to pray for us.. doesn't make any sense. Anyway what about the holy commandment "respect thy mother and father" does the mother of Jesus the God man not deserve our respect! As for being holy, I mean if you were God who would you choose to be the mother of your son, the average mom full of sin, or a holy woman who wants nothing more than to serve the Lord?
I also, like Leo, was a cradle Catholic. I attended Catholic grade school 1st-8th grade. I loved everything about my faith as a Catholic. I left the church at age 24. I became born again in a Protestant church and for the next 20 years learned to study the Bible, grow in my faith and also developed an arrogance on why Catholicism is wrong. At age 45 started going thru a really difficult period at my work. It was so bad that I felt God didn’t care about me. I started questioning my faith. One day I heard the Lord speak to me and tell me to go to Mass that night. I, in my Protestant arrogance, told the Lord that I was too good for the Catholics. I didn’t go and the following Monday I went to my pastor and told him that I felt the Lord was leading me back to the Catholic Church. He began to tell me I was all wrong, that the stress from my job was playing a big part in that - a change to escape my hostile work environment And then he had his associate pastors and the church secretary lay hands on me and pray that my mind would be clear enough to truly hear the Lord and “forget the nonsense and wrong thinking” about returning to the Catholic faith. Well, it worked. God did answer prayers. That following Saturday I heard the Lord speaking to me again and this time I went to Saturday night Mass. I sat in the last pew in the corner and wept and knew this is where I belong. I’m 68 now, have truly studied the faith, have grown in Bible study and devotions and am so thankful that He took me on that long journey to get to where I am now. Our 3 kids who were raised in the Protestant faith still don’t understand why I am Catholic. They stopped going to church. I don’t preach to them but they see me live my faith and I everyday and I share my faith with them when they ask about it. My actions speak volumes and that is how I what I want my witness to be - a sinner saved by Grace, who loves the Lord, and am so blessed by my journey with the Lord.
Obviously, you learned to study the Bible (Quote)... but did not walk in Faith bur walked in self arrogance and went back to the Catholic Faitb??? FIGURES!! Blessings.
I came into the Church from a secular Jewish background. I devoured the teachings of the Catholic Church but had a stumbling block with Mary; not as Protestants do because I had no anti-Marian background to deal with. I would do what I later learned Chesterton did: I moved on, accepting the Church with confidence and putting off the question of Marian devotion, expecting that God would make sense of it to me in time. One day, it happened. Mary broke through my coldness to her and made sense to me. How happy I am for that.
Amazing that the whole new testament is about Jesus and what He has done and you run to His mortal dead mother, spirit alive in the heavenly realm ,and call upon her ?
@@brucewmclaughlin9072 Amazing that you would disrespect the woman who God chose to enter physically into his creation. The problem isn't that Catholics put Mary too high but rather protestants put Jesus too low. Almost at the level of a demi god when Jesus is consubstantial with the Father.
I was born and raised Catholic, and I've been to protestant churches while being respectful and keeping an open mind through invitations from friends who tried to convert me, but none came close to how I felt in the Catholic church... Praise The Lord and his church!!!
Invite them to a Catholic Mass(of course they can't receive communion) and see if they are as "open" as you were. “We must hold to the Christian religion and to communication in her Church, which is catholic and which is called catholic not only by her own members but even by all her enemies. For when heretics or the adherents of schisms talk about her, not among themselves but with strangers, willy-nilly they call her nothing else but Catholic. For they will not be understood unless they distinguish her by this name which the whole world employs in her regard”- St. Augustine of Hippo (The True Religion 7:12 [A.D. 390]).
Before Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olive Jesus told His disciples that he was going to give them a comforter to replace Him when He was gone who would tell them everything that Jesus wanted Him to tell them. My Catholic friends, who is that person? Is it Mary or the Holy Spirit? It is the Holy Spirit who came from heaven down to earth into our body not one who came from earth up to heaven as a woman. Mary's bones are still on earth in a grave somewhere here on earth but her spirit is in Hades waiting for her judgment day like the rest of human beings created in God's image. Don't make Mary a goddess or your mother she is only your sister in Christ. She was the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ as fully man only for the purpose of bringing Him into this world, and fully Divine who came from God the Father in heaven down to earth. (Emmanuel God with us). Also, Jesus never said to pray to Mary but only to our Father in heaven. Catholics sure like to twist the scriptures to fit their narrative belief. RCC teaches a different gospel from the Bible or from the apostle Pau teachings therefore your religion is cursed by God. It is a pagan religion that worships statues which makes you idolaters and sinners that will send you to hell. Christianity is not a religion but a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ.
@@laurenp1618he also gave them to the rest of the apostles and the context is within church discipline. That’s it. Catholics have added so much to this one verse it’s insane.
@@KnightFel Read all of Matthew 16:13-20 known as "Peter's Confession about Jesus". You shouldn't read Matthew 16:19 in isolation. Matthew 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus said >>to him
What should seem obvious to everyone is why Catholics describe Jesus and Mary’s relationship from Mary’s standpoint first, and not from the actual preeminent One, from Jesus standpoint. Is it or is it not true that Jesus created Mary? if Mary is not divine then, obviously, he did create her. Why wouldn’t we speak about Mary as being Jesus creation? Also, the mother father analogy in the human sense falls flat. If we concede that the mother and father are not the source of the child’s soul, then it is technically accurate to say that the mother and father are the source of his body. He tries to make the point that this isn’t true, but it obviously is. So then, what do we mean when we say that a woman is someone’s mother? We are describing the physical, genetic lineage and the accompanying authority that they have over the child as parents. It is not meant to describe the “soul “relationship between the parents and the child. So, in what sense is Mary “the mother of God“? Does she have authority over Jesus the way that the father has authority over Jesus? This is blasphemy, if Jesus is greater than Mary as God, then she is not His mother AS God, but not in the human sense, as she exercised authority over him and the human relationship which is important to define because one of the commandments is to honor your father and your mother, and Jesus would not be exempt from this. I could say more, but I will stop there.
Are you the mother of a person or a nature when, you give Birth? If you are the Mother of a Person, then you are therefore mother of a body and soul, since a person is both body and rational soul. To say Mary is the Mother of the Human Side of Jesus only would be to split Jesus into two Persons, one human and one divine, which is a Christological heresy, and is why the term Mother of God was used in the first place. Jesus is however, One Person, who Had Two Natures, Divine, and Human, in One Person. This is called the Hypostatic Union. To get around this you would have to say one of three things: Jesus is two Persons (heresy( Jesus was not God from the beginning, but became God (heresy) You give birth to a nature, not a person Yes, God creates the soul upon conception, while the parents help create the body, but nobody would say that their mom is only the mother of their body, but the mother of them specifically. Plus, it’s not like you are a soul trapped in a body, but the teaching is you literally are your body, that’s why we have the Resurrection of the dead , we, humans, are made to be Body and Soul, not just Soul. Furthermore, no, obviously, Mary did not create God, God always existed, and Created Mary. We are merely saying that since Mary is the Mother of the Person of Jesus Christ, Who is God, then Mary must be the Mother of God. Hope that makes sense.

I wonder if protestants scholars knew of the Papyrus 470 which is the oldest papyrus that contains prayer to Mary dating 250 AD before even Constantine reigns and before any Council (so u cant make an argument that Constantine or Council of Ephesus made the movement of worshipping Mary) is made , i encourage everyone to go check it , it is preserved in John Rylands Library in Manchester , It’s the Sub Tuum Praesidium, and it goes like this: Beneath your compassion, We take refuge, O Mother of God [Theotokos]: do not despise our petitions in time of trouble: but rescue us from dangers, only pure, only blessed one. Wow they called her Theotokos , only pure , only blessed? Isnt this made up in the Council of Ephesus ? No Early Christians all knew of the status of Mary and her wonders she make with people whom call her , they loved her and she loves her children also 🤗🥰🥰🥰 💞💞💞🕊🕊🕊🕊

There are Protestants who presume this or that about Marian devotion while being completely ignorant of Church history and having no primary scholarly proof for their claims which are pure conjectures. Muslims are the same by alleging post-Apostolic Christians corrupted the true gospels and got rid of the original ones to conceal the fact that Jesus never died and had risen from the dead. Nor was he the Godman. Anyway, Marian theology and devotion has its roots in Jesus and ancient Judaism, not in the pagan mystery religions in Rome. This is a faulty correlation. Atheists are no different by comparing Jesus with the pagan deities and demigods like Horus and Mithra.

I gotta say this is the most convincing argument I gave heard for Mary as the mother of God. I have been praying for a long time now and constantly have been having a subtle answer in my heart that i need to go to the Catholic church. I have been protestant then agnostic then back to protestant all in my adult life. The thing that scares me is how resistant I have felt myself to this idea of joining the Catholic faith and this almost fear of talking about with those I am so close to in my life. I feel your videos and many others have helped me in my journey with theology and I am very optimistic about growing in and furthering my relationship with God and in finding a church to belong to fully in my heart. Thank you, God bless you
I am a cradle Catholic and never really got to know how wonderful our faith is until I got older. I regret it a lot. I wish I would have started studying a lot earlier. The fullness of the faith resides in Jesus's Church. For over 2000 his church has been attacked from inside and outside and is still stands. Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against it and so I continues.
@@lcringo3498 it's not about confusion 100% but that as a protestant we accept certain things differently than Catholics. To be frank I have come to an understanding that they are wrong, I believe the catholics have this right and although I trust my protestant friends and ministers to be Christ following Christians I still think they are wrong. It took me many months to reach this point and my emotional brain has resisted it quote a lot. Honestly I am still somewhat afraid to talk to my protestant mom about converting even though I know she will just disagree with my decision
Go there but be aware: you will have to accept that the pope is God's locum tenens (place holder) on Earth, meaning that he substitutes Christ and to obey him. Also accept that he entitles himself as The Holy Father a title reserved only for our heavenly Father so accept that the pope is the god on this world. Ironic how having grown leaving my juvenile assumptions and learning from these silly attacks from many, I have begun to appreciate Catholicism in my return from nowhere
Protestant faith is a relationship with Debate not God. I was one of them left catholic ( became prideful as Protestant, luckily finding the debate of Scott Hann and Fr G( faith alone/ Eucharist) left Protestant and went back to the true Church of Jesus Christ Catholic- I felt the spirit of God cause it shivers me when I heard from Father G- He himself said it - “This is my body, given up for you”- Eucharist. Mary I started reading Mary is Eve, Rachel, Arc covenant, Woman in genesis-foot of cross given to John- revelation- ( plus ruth, and when she goes to elizabeth/ 3months- similar to arc and david). Amazing. All glory to God.
Tim Staples & Matt Fradd, thank you guys so much for what you do and for giving me the knowledge to better defend my faith. Mr. Staples, you are the reason I watched Father Pacwa debate Walter Martin. First of all John Ankengerg was a terrible host, but I thank him for letting Fr. Pacwa shine and also for bringing you to the Church. Second is my favorite part of this debate, was when Father Pacwa asked Ankenberg, “did you have to say yet to the faith, & Ankenberg says “by grace through faith” & Father Pacwa asks him did you have to say yes to Gods grace. Ankenberg said yes and looked a bit defeated and quiet. That was my favorite part of that debate was to see the look on his face
I am blessed that Jesus Christ showed me the errors of my misconceptions about Catholicism. I spent several weeks discerning my desire to be Catholic and after reading the early church fathers, I correctly discerned my desire was from God. I was attacked with such hate from Protestants during my RCIA classes. I pray every day for Protestants to come to the knowledge of God's truth

Good luck, and welcome to the truth. RC has a Marian edge even over orthodoxy (Immaculate Conception and the Lourdes and Fatima miracles, and the rosary recognized by Mary), so as I said, welcome to the truth.
I find it amazing that most of the apologists on Catholic Answers are CONVERTS to the faith!!! These people were once non-Catholic and once they delved into the truths of the Catholic faith and considered them truly, they fell in love with it and felt called to be apologists!!
They weren’t Biblically grounded. Notice Tim Staples said he was a charismatic [Assemblies of God], who followed wolf and false teacher, Jimmy Swaggart.
But Staples had no Biblical grounding. He was bound to go where the wind blows in the direction of a church that looked like it had +structure+ and depth. The EXACT opposite of the failed, unBiblical AoG babblers.
Mary received God’s grace. Grace is “unmerited favor”; that is, grace is a blessing we receive despite the fact that we do not deserve it. Mary needed grace from God and a Savior, just as the rest of us do. Mary herself understood this fact, as she declared in Luke 1:47, “My spirit rejoices in God my Savior.”
The problem with protestants is they believe in Sola Scriptura alone but remember the Rapture is not named in the Bible only referenced but you deny what is actually written in the Bible about Mary. There are many miracles and mysteries that happened later on revealed only to a select few people like the saints which is not written. You want the King James Version? Luke 1:28 "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women." This is in the Hail Mary prayer. Angel Gabriel said this. Luke 1:41 "...Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost" God the Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth and made her say: Luke 1:42 "...Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb." Again this is in the Hail Mary prayer, God the Holy Spirit allowed Elizabeth to say this, who are you to deny us to say this? When even God the Holy Spirit made it clear. Luke 1:43 "And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" Elizabeth recognized Jesus as her Lord but she also gave the utmost respect and honor to Mary referring to her, this is called veneration not worship. Luke 1:48 "...from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed." All generations means up to now, the generations did not stop when the books of the Bible are finished and compiled, this is Bible prophecy fulfilled. This generation still calls Mary blessed through the Hail Mary prayer. The 1st miracle in the wedding at Cana, action speaks louder than words. The Lord fulfilled the request of Mary even when it was still not His time, the Bible has many parallels, this is one of them and the Lord did not acquiesce as Protestants claim because there are many instances where the Lord did not act upon. There are many parallels of the "woman" Mary as shown here: ua-cam.com/video/kUdYeYy3NQA/v-deo.html It is only 11 minutes make sure to finish the video. She is the Theotokos, only 1 woman bore the Word made flesh, not any woman can do that role, not your mother not my mother, out of millions and billions in all human history only she is worthy to bear our Lord Jesus Christ. She has no original sin cause it would be impossible for the Lord to be in her womb. The Lord hates sin but loves the sinners. She is the mother of the Word made flesh, after crucifixion when the Lord spoke to them it is not only Jewish tradition but She is our mother! Which makes her the mother of all, she intercedes for us, she points us to her Son, asks us to repent and to change our ways. The parallels of Lucifer and Mary and why you can call on her name during exorcisms: Mary is the humblest while the Devil is the proudest. Mary is the purest while the Devil is the filthiest. Mary is the most obedient while the Devil is the most rebellious. Mary always defeats the Devil because she has no taint of sin (original sin): aleteia.org/2017/07/02/devil-admits-to-exorcist-im-afraid-of-the-madonna/ If you are ever present in an exorcism say her name so the possessed can hear it and watch the reaction. When Mother Mary reveals herself in Garabandal, Lourdes, Fatima, etc. It is always to ask people to repent, change their lives and turn to her Son our Lord Jesus Christ. She is always crying for us, she is still interceding for us! Even in the book "Heaven is for real" the Protestant kid saw Mary kneeling in front of the throne of God. The Warning, the Miracle, Tribulation, 3 days of darkness (after Tribulation) and the Rapture (after the 3 days of darkness), all of which are true and will happen. Especially the Warning when a visible cross can be seen in the sky, it is so close now. You would know later on how Mother Mary loves us so much! Jesus through Mary, God bless.
@@ericdelanoy9570 Wait for the Warning, when you see a cross in the sky then we will see the state of our soul in God's eyes. Everyone 7 years old above will experience it. Many will die because of shock caused by sin. It is the first of many events before the Rapture.

In all honesty you just have to look at the traditional role of a queen in a kingdom and ascribe to her similar attributes and duties and to look at her role in that context but on much less surface level analysis. After all, the structure of the “heavenly society,” and domain of God are described as the ‘Kingdom,’ of Heaven and the kingdom of God. There's a lot of Marian dogma in the catholic church dating back to ancient times. But sadly no catholic talks about the Marian miracles that point to Her being our mother and the mother of God. There's Guadalupe, Lourdes, Fatima, Garabandal, Akita and so many miraculous places and sites. Besides there's that famous old saying: to Jesus thru Mary. That's who got me to love Jesus. She was my mother and friend long before I knew Jesus. And boy is she powerful in her faithfulness and protection!! The best Mother a person can have. Ave Maria!!
Here's a question, Billy...if Mary is all YOU claim she is,what need of Jesus at all? He seems superflous; since you obviously worship Mary...? I await your reply...🤨🤨🤨
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers 46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.” 48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Jesus was not denigrating his mother, he was praising her, because Mary was the perfect example of hearing the word of God and keeping it. Jesus even gives His mother an even greater honor in this passage. He is saying My mother doesn’t get a pass because of Me. She isn’t just riding my coat tails into heaven. She is My mother because she freely chose to do the will of the Father. MATTHEW 12 is clear, Jesus will call you brothers and sister in faith if you obey and submit to God's commandments, not biological brothers. She (Mary) did this when she said… Be it done to me according to your word. She did it again when she said… Do whatever He tells you. Jesus would never dishonor His own mother. His mother did the will of the Father in heaven, so was a member of his family. He was teaching the higher meaning of family. “And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” (Lk 1:38) “And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord:” (Lk 2:22). “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5)
I actually had/have this quadrinity problem, intellectually, but I made a decision to submit to the wisdom of the Council of Ephesus of 431 AD & the Syriac traditions of the Levant itself that go all the way back to the 200s AD, until I actually can sort it out mentally I will allow the Church Fathers to ordinate my heart in the direction of the LORD on this, for the time being. So I do use the title Theotokos when talking of or to the Blessed Virgin.

Although Mary is the Mother of God, she is not his mother in the sense that she is older or wiser than God or the source of her Son’s divinity, for she is neither. Once you understand this, honouring, loving and respecting The Blessed Virgin Mary is easy.
Wow...this...yes.. I'm on the cusp on converting...this right here...touched my heart. That Mary's soul was worthy of her raising God... Mary is the mother of my God. Jesus Christ. She should be respected...as God accepted her to mother His son.
Dear Blue Jasmin, When Mary found out that she would be the mother of the Mesiah, she visited Elizabeth, who exclaimed, in Luke, 1:43, "Who am I that the Mother of my Lord has come to visit me?" Then, Mary prayed her Magnificat prayer and said in Luke 1:48, "All generations will call me blessed".
😂 sometimes I imagine what Mother Mary would do/think as she witnesses these types of conversation or debates unfold between Catholics and Christians from Heaven above.. 😊
I saw one video where they were explaining how the perpetual virginity works before, after and weirdly enough, during the birth of Jesus. These two priests just sitting around talking about Mary's hymen and how Jesus miraculously doesn't pass through her vagina. I think even all the Catholics watching it were creeped out by these dudes discussing her private parts.
Yes Catholics believe that as well, but we acknowledge Mary’s prominent role in Salvation History. And it’s important to remember that the reverence for Mary is in the Catholic and Orthodox and Anglican and Lutheran churches. Also, the Church Fathers who sat at the feet of the Apostles understood Mary as the New Eve, the Ark of the
"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints." Revelation 5:8 "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." Revelation 8:3, " And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand." Revelation 8:4, John's Book of the Apocalypse
Ok and this was decided at the Council of Ephesus. I don’t think most Protestants will contest this. But as you have explained using your analogy, we as parents are not the source of our children’s souls and Mary, by corollary is not the source of Jesus’ Divinity, where does she get all the special roles ascribed to her by the Catholic Church (Queen of Heaven, Co Redemptix etc)
Co-Redemptrix is a title that specifically means that Our Lady participated in the redemption of all peoples through the act of saying yes to God. That is why she was given the title and it is a lesser title than Redeemer, which is specifically Jesus.
Queen of Heaven, well you know that Jesus is from the house of David so he has right to be the king of Israel and if you look at First Kings 2:19 (When Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, the king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king’s mother, and she sat down at his right hand.) You see that mother sat at the right hand of her son.
Est-ce si difficile de comprendre que la Theotokos est au commencement de notre salut ? Et qu’elle est toujours à la droite du Christ comme devant les portes royales ! Preuve de votre peu de foi, ce manque de raison raisonnable !

thanks to my brothers protestant for they are the brothers that leads me to know the truth about Mary as the mother of God... without protestant i am not became a pure Catholic... thanks for this video for it will help me a lot to preach the truth about the truth in the bible...
Let Jesus answer the question of who His mother is. [Mat 12:49-50 NKJV] 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 "For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother."
I'm glad I found this video because now I know how to express why I as a Catholic pray to Mary the mother of God when some of my protestens family members tell me that what I'm doing is wrong.
I'm not sure if you'll find this helpful but I felt I should respond. I'm a protestant and calling Mary the "mother of God" does not mean we should therefore pray to her. I'm not entirely sure what the argument of this video is, but giving her the title "mother of God," does not mean she intercedes for us in heaven, nor that she is to be treated as our mother. She is blessed among women, and she is the mother of my Lord, but only Christ can save us. Only His work on the cross is sufficient. Pray to the Father, by the Spirit, in the name of Christ. I encourage you to read John 14 and John 16. May God bless you. We are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ alone!
@Daniel Bonness This was an argument against the protestants (and everybody else) who think that calling her Mother of God is wrong. But the rules of language perfectly allow it
@@DBdrumz18 If that's the case, then you should not call Mary the mother of God, because you only think that she is the mother of Jesus. I believe that Mary is the adopted mother of God. Adopted by God as the mother of God when God conceived Jesus in her whom. I don't pray to Mary, I pray to our God who wants a family of people that will love Him and obey Him. And we are not saved by faith in Christ alone. Read James 2 : 24 "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” KJV.
The angels tell us to not worship them, they even seem annoyed by us worshiping them. And they tell us that God alone is worthy of praise and worship. Take from that what you will. For each and every one of us will have to answer, for what we've done in our lives in the flesh. And we answer alone. #beprepared
I was told when my daughter a twin was stillborn while her brother survived by a Monsignor who came into my hospital room that my daughter would never see Jesus because she was not baptized. She was an innocent infant condemned to Limbo. It was over 40 years later that I have learned that the Limbo, especially since Pope Benedict, was not true, however this was not the only time that Monsignor and his priest in our local church were very rude toward me. Then there were other priests who would not answer my questions putting me down in a chauvinist manner for being female, saying things such as "just wait for heaven and then you will understand". That attitude was hardly Christian. Some nuns mean to my little children were the final straw and I left the church raising my children in various other churches depending upon where we lived. And it was over 40 years until I came back to the church, however my children are now not attending any type of church services.
I am sorry to the depths of my soul for how you were treated. Pray for the good priests who are being treated badly by their fellow priests who are in error, and pray for the priests who are in error, pray to our Mama Mary and to Saint Joseph for them. I have been a Catholic for 50 years, and I am convinced we don't get through this without scars, but Jesus was also scarred, by those who were so religious.

Mary is the mother of the Son, daughter of the Father and spouse of the Holy Spirit✨🙏🏻✨ And we are blessed to have Her as our Heavenly Mother 💖 ✨Tota Tua ego sum Mariae, et omnia mea Tua sunt✨
@@regcaughey4307 He created her and chose her to be His mother. He could simply appear as a full grown man but He chose not to. In this same video is the answer to what you said. Obviously no mother creates the soul/spirit of her son or daughter. She is the mother of His body but no son goes around saying to his mother "I love you mother of my body" even though we know our mothers gave birth to our bodies. God created our souls.
What Tim Staples leaves out is that Jesus is referred to the 2nd Adam and the son of man, that is who Mary gave birth to, basically the Flesh, man is Flesh. Jesus as the Son of God always existed before time and creation, Jesus is God. Mary a person can say when she gave birth to Jesus the Son of God, just "CLOTHED" Jesus in human Flesh. Jesus as the Son of God and is God just used Mary as a portal to come into the world and "CLOTHED" in human Flesh. To call Mary the mother of God is Aposotasy and Heretical.....The RCC should just call Mary the "mother of the 2nd Adam" (Human Flesh Chlothing), or even call Mary the "mother of the son of man". Mary just Clothed God with Flesh is all it is. Jesus is also called the "Last Adam", for the Last Adam to come into the world has to be through natural child birth. Mary like all humans are from the First Adam and like the first Adam........ all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God, Even Mary would be of sin, who contrbuted the Fleshly clothing for Jesus who is God. The Apostle Paul tells us in his first letter to the church in Corinth, “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:45-49). Paul is here pointing out the difference between two kinds of bodies, i.e., the natural and the spiritual. Genesis 2:7 speaks of the first man, Adam, becoming a living person. Adam was made from the dust of the ground and given the breath of life from God. Every human being since that time shares the same characteristics. However, the last Adam or the “second Adam”-that is, Christ-is a life-giving Spirit. Just as Adam was the first of the human race, so Christ is the first of those who will be raised from the dead to eternal life. Because Christ rose from the dead, He is “a life-giving spirit” who entered into a new form of existence. He is the source of the spiritual life that will result in believers' resurrection. Christ’s new glorified human body now suits His new, glorified, spiritual life-just as Adam’s human body was suitable to his natural life. When believers are resurrected, God will give them transformed, eternal bodies suited to eternal life. Paul tells us in verse 46 that the natural came first and after that the spiritual. People have natural life first; that is, they are born into this earth and live here. Only from there do they then obtain spiritual life. Paul is telling us that the natural man, Adam, came first on this earth and was made from the dust of the earth. While it is true that Christ has existed from eternity past, He is here called the second man or second Adam because He came from heaven to earth many years after Adam. Christ came as a human baby with a body like all other humans, but He did not originate from the dust of the earth as had Adam. He “came from heaven.” Then Paul goes on: “As was the earthly man [Adam], so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven [Christ], so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven” (1 Corinthians 15:48-49). Because all humanity is bound up with Adam, so every human being has an earthly body just like Adam’s. Earthly bodies are fitted for life on this earth, yet they are limited by death, disease, and weakness because of sin which we’ve seen was first brought into the world by Adam. However, the good news is that believers can know with certainty that their heavenly bodies will be just like Christ’s-imperishable, eternal, glorious, and filled with power. At this time, all are like Adam; one day, all believers will be like Christ (Philippians 3:21). The Apostle John wrote to the believers, “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).

@@SonicSnakeRecords Incorrect. What Christ and His apostles taught is the truth. The Roman Catholic church deviates from the Scriptures. The Church/bride of Christ is the body of true believers, its not confined to a building or organisation. For example, did Jesus die once and for all sin or must you atone for your sin in purgatory. Did Mary have sin (as the Scripture shows) or was she immaculately conceived as the catholic church teaches. These are not reconcilable..... you must choose between your tradition or the Truth of Scripture. I choose Gods Word.
@@SonicSnakeRecords You reading things into the text regarding Mary that are not in Scripture. Worshipping Mary is idolatry and just as Jesus said to the people that Moses would be the one to judge them for they claimed to follow Moses, similarly, Mary on judgement day will judge you and tell you why didnt you give all adoration to Jesus.
I think there's a colloquial meaning of "mother of..." meaning source of, and a more technical meaning "mother of..." meaning maternal source of the human body. I appreciate that Tim clarified the concept that a literal mother is not the cause of the whole person. So I guess.. imo if someone says Mary is "mother of God" in the first sense, they would be incorrect. But if someone meant it in the second sense, it would be theologically accurate. I guess perhaps there can be a further public clarification of the term, as it might be the case people are assuming the colloquial meaning (which is a natural starting point)

She is not the source of God even if she - by God's will - gave birth to Him. She is the beholder of God not the creator of God. To say the Mary is God (goddess I guess) is heresy also the imaculata conceptione but I digress. She was a special vessel chosen by God, she had the original sin, but the Holy Spirit made her clean to be able to receive Him in her womb. She was, is and ever be Virgin but not God. As Jesus always existed, long before Mary ever existed and Jesus said: before Abraham was, I Am. În conclusion: she is the mother of Jesus our Lord and God but not His source since she is a creature and He is the Creator. I hope I was clear enough. God bless you!

1. I have never heard any Protestant/Christian deny Mary is the mother of Jesus. This whole discussion is based on an argument that Protestants don't believe that, and that's not even a thing. Ofcourse we do, we just don't glorify Mary because we believe all the glory, worship and prayer is due ONLY to God. A request He Himself made to us through the Word. 2. Even if this issue was real among Protestants: Sorry, I am now even more convinced of the idolatry practiced in Catholicism with this video. Mary is blessed among women. Mary is the mother of Jesus, and that has to be respected. I agree. But praying to her is unbiblical. And when I say unbiblical, I mean anti- biblical, against what the Bible teaches. Worshiping/praying to/glorifying anyone other than God (the Trinity) is unbiblical. Doing and teaching these things is straight up going against the Word of God. Protestants disagree with Catholics for a whole lot of reasons. The worship and praying to the dead saints including Mary, is just one of them. The theology of the Gospel is wrong, when works you do here on earth dictate the status of your salvation. The images that aren't just made, but built into statues and Catholics bown down before them and often also build altars of candles around them. Yikes! The existance of the Pope, the existance of purgatory. The meaning of baptism... It's not that Protestants don't have church traditions. It's just that we strongly believe no tradition in the church can be AGAINST the Word of God. And because the Catholic church has and does MANY traditions that are not in line with the Word of God, that is the reason most Protestants stay away from Catholic churches. Out if respect to and fear of our holy God. One day we will all stand before God and will have to give an account of our actions, words and thoughts. I ask you this, will you be able to tell Him that you deliberately chose to ignore His commandments and teachings in the Word for the sake of the teachings of some man made king dressed up in white (the Pope)? Will you be able to play this video and say these arguments straight to His face? Will you be able to justify your actions of worshiping, kneeling down and praying to/before statues of other beings in creation? Will you be able to justify praying to dead humans? Are you able to say this straight to Jesus' face, God, the person who died for you in one of the most painful and horrible ways possible? I know I will have to rely on what His Word thought me. And I am sure I will be wrong on allot of things, flawed as I am. But I will rely on His mercy, His grace for my salvation and place in His Kingdom. Not my 'good deeds' and or practice of man made traditions that go against His Word. Can you Imagine standing before Jesus saying: "Well Mary carried you for nine months, birth you and raised you into this world. You are God, therefore she is the Mother of God, Mother of you. Therefore I pray to her" *finger snaps*. Good luck with that.
Im not a Catholic, but I can tell you, as a fair-minded person, you misunderstand virtually every point of catholic doctrine you speak of here. Im not being mean, Im just saying, to properly critique someone's belief, you have to properly understand it. For example, asking for the intercession of Mary is not based on her being Mother of God. It is based on the doctrine of Communion of the Saints, the belief that all believers, living and deceased, are united and alive in Christ. This is a very ancient belief, it is even in the Apostles Creed. Scripturally, its evidenced by the fact that Jesus said that those who believe in him have "eternal life", and that "though they die, they will live" and "God is God of the living, not the dead." Several other verses too. If those who pass in Christ are alive, and we are "surrounded by a cloud of witnesses" who want to see us succeed as our brothers and sisters in Christ, Catholics ask them to pray for them just as you would ask a faithful brother at church to pray for you. When considering who one should ask for prayer, Mary is top of the list. As the mother of Christ, she is was particularly close to Jesus, and her intercession is greatly desired. So if you want to defeat the idea of intercession of Mary, you need to defeat the doctrine of communion of the saints, which has a strong scriptural basis and long history in the church. That is why, as far as the span of church history is concerned, the protestant perspective is both novel and innovative as a doctrine. And to be clear, they are not "praying to" the saints, they are asking for the saint's prayers to God on their behalf. Only God answers prayers for Catholics. Again, Im not a catholic, I just want you to be fair in your critique.
Wrong, Jesus means GOD SAVES in Hebrew. Mary is the MOTHER of the LORD (LUKE 1:43), therefore Mary is the Mother of the LORD GOD. Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant, the Gebirah-Queen Mother, Woman of Revelation and the Daughter of Zion that is why we pray for her intercession and protection because she leads you to the real Jesus of the Trinity not false protestant zi0nist jesus. I’m trying to understand Catholicism as I am growing closer to considering RCIA. I am a Protestant as of now. I can accept almost everything except for the teaching on Mary being sinless. In Luke 1 she prays “my spirit rejoices in God my savior” Why does a sinless person need a savior? Also, Roman’s is clear in teaching that all have fallen short of the glory of God. I can understand her being blessed among women, being the Mother of God, and being a person to hold in deep reverence. Yet, nothing in scripture outlines that she never sinned to me. I’d appreciate understanding this better. The Bible is full of amazing holy saints. People who dedicated their lives to God. People I look up to and would expect any Christian to do the same. But none of them no matter how holy or unique ever merit the title sinless to me.
For the sake of the person she was to give birth to, she was saved before her birth. She couldn't have carried God in her womb and still live under the yoke of sin. God can't dwell in firth. She is the woman referred to as the new eve in Genesis. I will put enmity between you(satan) and the woman(Mary), between your offspring (sin which is known as the fruit of the devil) and her's ( Jesus referred to as the fruit of the womb of Mary by St Elizabeth when Mary visited her). I hope this helps.
Think of the timeline: when Mary said that God was her savior, Jesus had not yet died on the cross. So Mary had a Savior before anyone else was redeemed by Christ. She was saved by her Savior before the crucifixion. When did this happen? I think it happened at the moment of her conception as God prepared her to be the human mother of the second person of the Trinity, so that she would never experience the stain of Original Sin. Imagine that you're looking at your cell phone and don't realize you're about to step into an open manhole. I grab your elbow and save you from falling. If I don't, then you'll fall and I'll have to save you by pulling you out of the hole. You see? You can be saved before you fall or after. Since Mary spoke of her Savior before Christ's crucifixion, we know that she was saved before! (Please also see my reply above regarding the cells of Jesus remaining in His mother.)
As a Protestant myself, I have no problem accepting that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of God. My problem is in the way Roman Catholics almost seem to worship the saints and pray to them.
Veneration of the Saints Joshua 5:14 Joshua fell prostrate in worship before the angel. Daniel 8:17 Daniel fell prostrate in terror before Gabriel. Tobit 12:16 Tobiah and Tobit fall to the ground before Raphael. Matthew 18:10 The angels in Heaven are always before the face of God. We venerate angels because of their great dignity, which comes from their union with God. Saints are also in united with God. Veneration nor honor is worship. Catholics worship [God|Jesus] alone. Hebrews 13:7 Remember your leaders, who preached the word of God to you, and as you reflect on the outcome of their lives, take their faith as your model.1 Thessalonians 1:5-8 You become an example to all believers. This is what Saints are for Catholics and all mankind: Examples of holiness to live by 1 John 3:2 We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. The Bible reveals that the saints who have died aren’t disconnected from and uninterested in those who are alive on earth Old Testament Example: Jeremiah 15:1-Long after their deaths, Moses and Samuel are depicted pleading for the Israelite people on earth New Testament Examples Revelation 8:3 - The prayers of the saints rise up before God, and then God acts on earth. John 15 - “I am the vine, and you are the branches.” St. Paul - We are the “body of Christ.” It doesn’t make sense that death would rupture this bond. Hebrews 12:1 - The saints are a “cloud of witnesses” Intercession for Others Isn’t Optional for Christians Love of God and love of neighbor go hand in hand. The saints are our neighbors and our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. When we grow in fellowship with our fellow Christians, we grow in fellowship with Christ. This is the vision of the Church that the New Testament gives to us. 2 Corinthians 1:11-St. Paul commands the Christians in Corinth to pray for him. 1 Timothy 2:1-Timothy commands the Christians to pray for each other.

It preserves the history of the faith, I guess. Catholics pray to them, do not worship them. It is like an inspiration. But there is a lot of danger in it, or blindly believing in apparitions. New Age people fall into the demonic by talking to their dead „relatives“, which can only be disembodied spirits. What is special about Mary for sure, is that she was unconditionally aligned with the will of God. Never rebelled, unlike even the greatest prophets.

I think that probably the most significant divide between Protestants and Catholics, though, is just what is implied by the phrase 'Mary, mother of God' because nowhere in the Scriptures is that ever once implied. Instead, it reads 'Mary, mother of Jesus'. Now, I might also offer that in the Gospel of John (and it is only mentioned once in the entire Scriptures) it records the following text: 'So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." They said, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he know say, "I have come down from heaven?"' - John 6:41-42 Jesus is referred to as the 'son of Joseph' is he not? I think oftentimes that many Catholics get so enthused and caught up in the Catholic Doctrine of Mariology that they are then quick to discount that both Joseph and Mary were merely the earthly parents of Messiah. Nothing more and nothing less. Because when you begin to attribute what I considered to be IMHO unbiblical doctrines like the Immaculate Conception and the Perpetual Virginity to the mother of Jesus we risk attributing to her such lofty and one could argue 'divine' traits as were otherwise never at all to be attributed to her. Thus, I simply offer the following inquiries to those of the Catholic worldview: 1. Why is it so imperative and necessary that Mary herself would therefore be conceived in her own mother's womb without sin (the doctrine of Immaculate Conception)? Or do you not yet realize that the mother's blood runs alongside the placenta, and the nutrients needed by the baby are absorbed and transferred to the baby? All the baby's blood is contained within the baby and placenta. Therefore, the placenta protects the mother and fetus. The placenta acts as an exchange surface between the mother and the fetus. A membrane separates baby's blood and mother's blood. Nutrients and oxygen are passed over by diffusion only. If the mother's and fetus blood mixed, it could be deadly for both of them. As such, Jesus's blood would have never even mixed or come in contact with Mary's own blood. If Jesus's blood is perfect and untainted by sin then there would be no need for Mary to conceive him in an 'immaculate' state. And if Jesus also touched and healed lepers then clearly merely touching her earthly son would also not pollute his divine nature and being, either. 2. Why is it equally so imperative and necessary that Mary herself would therefore need to remain a virgin for the rest of her life? Why would God allow the marriage to remain intact while simultaneously forbidding Joseph from executing his duty as a husband to his wife and vice versa? This doctrine probably bothers me the most because it is almost as if it was considered to be wholly anathema to the Catholic Church for even the mere thought of Mary and Joseph having sex together to ever enter in the minds of Christian men and women. Yet, to sentence Joseph and Mary, husband and wife, one flesh, to a lifetime of perpetual celibacy while still living under the same roof--- to go about their daily lives as husband and wife doing everything but showing any type of affection for each other--- that seems to defy both logic and good common sense, yes. Does this mean that God no longer allowed them to hug... to kiss... to even sleep in the same bed??? Did they therefore sleep in separate beds in the same room, perhaps, not even in the same room? Did they have to undress and bathe in separate rooms, as well? Perhaps, Joseph silently divorced Mary, instead? Look, could any husband or wife reading this truly, truly live such a life as 'husband and wife' while being consequently forbidden to be "naked and unafraid" in each other's presence? What then would be the purpose of their marriage and the marriage of Joseph and Mary??? Celibacy is one thing in and of itself, yes, but to expect, nay, command that a husband and wife commit to a lifetime of refrainment from any type of physical affection towards one another, how is that even normal? How can that even be considered 'marriage'? That to me is just far, far too much legalism and worse yet--- an unhealthy aversion towards an otherwise natural, beautiful, and God-bestowed gift of sexual intimacy between man and woman, husband and wife. And that's just two of the four doctrines of Mariology that will continue to keep me from ever fully embracing the Catholic Church as a personal preference of location to attend any kind of formal religious service, yes.
This entire discussion should be ended simply by quoting St Elizabeth in St Luke’s gospel who not only proclaims Mary as “the mother of [her] Lord”, but her words come immediately after the text says that Elizabeth was speaking while filled with the Holy Spirit. Even this year, I have pointed this out to many evangelicals, and many have said, point blank, that Elizabeth was still wrong. If you can get these so-called “Bible Christians” to say that scripture is wrong, then the discussion is over. Period. Full stop.
Your point is pretty foggy. Lord (kurious) can mean master or Lord. Not God. Mother of the Messiah, OK but you're stretching it way too far to imply that Elizabeth was confessing Jesus' deity. Sure Christ was the Son of God but I don't think Elizabeth fully understood that. Scripture is not wrong just your skewed interpretation of it.
My concern with calling Mary the mother of God is what it potentially could imply without ample explanation. In the sense that she gave birth to Jesus who is God, yes, absolutely. However, what is massively important for us to communicate is that her existence was preceded by Christ's and that as she was giving birth to Him, her existence, like everything, was being held together by her holy Son. So my concern is not in the doctrine rightly explained, but in the doctrine easily misunderstood. And this misunderstanding is easily avoided by saying that she was Jesus' earthly mother. So that is how I refer to her.
Zach Davenport yeah, I feel like that implies that she was only the mother to His human nature which also implies that Christ isn’t fully human and fully Divine
@@aileenbordelon7884 I see the concern. But I can't think of a better way to address her that makes clear that she is far after Christ in both chronology and authority. I'm definitely open to suggestions though.
If your mother deserves respect. So does the mother of Jesus/God as well. Silly to see people refute this theology. You want the scriptures and most of your theological principles from catholicism. But ignore other things. Why would people want to believe in a non apostolic line theology when these kind of things were well discussed during early church days dating back to 300-400 AD. Its just that people these days want answers that can please them even if its okay to dilute the authenticity of the religion.
Thought about Mary.... Did God expect too much from Eve? She was merely human and tempted by a superior being (fallen angel). Through her disobedience, all of mankind was condemned. But Mary, who will crush the serpent's head, shows that a mere human can overcome that superior being. Through her obedience, Our savior is born.
When I first began my Catholic journey, my sponsor (who wasn’t yet my sponsor at that time) was feeding me apologetic materials from Dr. Scott Hahn, Fr. Larry Richards and our esteemed Mr. Staples. He even attended a Protestant-vs.-Catholic debate featuring Mr. Staples, and ended up pinch-hitting after it was determined that Mr. Staples wouldn’t make it.
Seems so silly to me. Mary is the mother of the living Christ, who had two natures, including God, carrying Jesus. Come on! LOL Protestants just don't make sense sometimes. 😍 It was her honour. It's not like she's carrying all of God in all ways. What else did Mary do here: not give birth? How silly.
I don't know what protestants you are hanging out with 😅 most Christians I know, and myself, are protestant, and we definitely believe Mary gave birth to Jesus!
Seems silly because it is silly. She was a human being, created, mortal and with free will. God asked her if she wants to give birth to Jesus - who is the Creator of all things that exists, eternal, immortal - and she agreed. She could have said no thanks since she had free will. But she said yes and became the mother of God, not a Godess.
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it. 6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God- 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”) 16 Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and[b] is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
In ordinary language we mean ‘the Father’ when we say “God”; not the Trinity, not the Son, even as we do not deny divinity to either. This has caused many to hear the term “Mother of God” as one intending to fête her as the Mother of the Trinity. In addition, it has been wrongly thought that this title is the product of overzealousness, meant to raise Mary to a status superior to God. In fact, the title was not applied to elevate Mary, but to protect the Homoousion dogma that insists that our Lord is the same in essence, in being with God the Father. Saint Athanasius is recalled as an assiduous defender of the full divinity and full humanity of Christ in His hypostatic union. In addition to the Arian heresy, which denied that Jesus is equal with the Father, there were some fourteen more heresies disputing the Church’s insistence that in Christ one person subsists in two natures, the Divine and the human-some claiming he was all-God and others that he was totally human, and all shades in between. Athanasius employed the term Mother of God to show that Mary was not only mother of the Man but of the entire Man, God included.
I am really surprised how easily non Catholics try to discredit Catholicism as paganism, idolatry, man made etc; I was educated in very Catholic School (although not being a believer myself since childhood) and never ever I was being taught nothing against any other religion and much less Orthodoxy, Protestantim or Judaism; only historic context; and the Mass (boring for me then) have lectures of OT and NT, but never a word about to discredit others Christians or Jews
That happens because you were or stil are in the true church. It's people don't need to look to other religions because they are busy just with their religion. This other people from other religions who is insulting and judging like they are God, is because they are unsure about their religion and perhaps also jealous about Catholics and Catholic religion. That's what it looks like
Hail Mary” and portions of the “Hail, Holy Queen” are blatantly unbiblical. This is clear and helpful. But for those of us Protestants who are perfectly happy with Mary as theotokos (can't have salvation without it), what about the other things Matt brought up at the beginning? Those are the things that I need help understanding!
I’m Protestant for now, considering Eastern Orthodoxy, and have to say, just wow. I now accept Theotokos, perpetual virginity of Mary, but I’m having a hard time accepting the prayers and content of some of those prayers to Mary as one whom we put our hope in, look to for salvation, or having power to deliver us. Can someone help explain how some prayers to the Theotokos isn’t borderline blasphemy?
I’ll take a shot at defending those prayers. I admit they use strong language that can easily seem quite contrary to worshiping only God, but I believe they do not contradict any doctrine but rather enhance our love for God and His Divine Providence. Since you didn’t specify what specific prayers, I’m going to assume you’re referencing the Hail Mary and the Salve Regina. The first half of the Hail Mary is pure citation of Scripture. The second half asks for Mary’s intercession for us to God. Two reasons intercession must be possible: The Church is One Body, and the gates of hell will never prevail against the Church. Both of those statements are clear in scripture. Most Christians agree we can pray for each other here on earth. Well the gates of hell bring about death. Death cannot prevail against the Church. So if we are all one Body in the Church, I cannot reason that death would break the connection between our prayers and the prayers of the dead who are so close to God they are currently abiding in the Beatific Vision. The Salve Regina is probably the bigger issue. Mary being called the Queen comes from the Jewish background of Jesus’ time. He established a Kingdom, and of course He’s the King. Well Jewish Kingdoms also had a queen, the mother of the king. So Mary has to be the Queen of this Kingdom. She is “our life, our sweetness, and our hope,” because in God’s Divine Providence, He chose her to bring about He who gives us life, sweetness, and hope. God chose Mary to bring Jesus into this world, and Jesus is our salvation. So it follows that we can call Mary our salvation, because in God’s plan, her “fiat” or yes to Jesus brought about our salvation. Whenever we focus on Mary, it’s always to bring us to Jesus. Notice the end of the Salve Regina asks for Mary to reveal Jesus to us. That’s where the emphasis lies. Mary in and of herself is not our life, nor our sweetness, nor our hope. But when we see her, we see those things because she is the Mother of God the Son, Jesus, He who alone gives us those things. I’d recommend Brant Pitre’s “Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary.” I pray that Mary wraps you and all of us under her mantle so that we may be as close as possible in this life to Jesus, the One God who is Love Himself and brings us to the Father through the Holy Spirit.
@barelyillegal2866The Catholic Church was commissioned by Christ to teach all nations and to teach them infallibly-guided, as he promised, by the Holy Spirit until the end of the world (see John 14:25, 16:13). The mere fact that the Church teaches that something definitely true is a guarantee that it is true (see Luke 10:16). Jesus has given us his Blessed Mother as our great Spiritual Mother (Rev.12:17), a Heavenly Advocate who intercedes for us. At the foot of the Cross. John 19:26-27 When Jesus saw His Mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, He said to Her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your Mother.” From that time on, this disciple took Her into his home.
@barelyillegal2866 The woman in Revelation 12 can also be interpreted as Israel or the Church but anyway you slice it Mary is a part of both and it clearly says in verse 4: "4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born." Only women give birth and we clearly see this child is Jesus in verse 5. "5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne." So we clearly know who Jesus's Mother is, Mary!
@barelyillegal2866 The Woman gives birth to a male child who is to rule the nations with a rod of iron. That’s a reference to the Messianic prophecy in Psalm 2, where we read: Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron [Psalm 2:8-9]. Jesus fulfilled this Messianic prophecy. The fact that the male child is caught up to the throne of God is a reference to Jesus’s Ascension into heaven, so we have another confirmation that the male child is Jesus. And since the Woman who gives birth to Him is His Mother, we could infer that the Woman here is Jesus’s Mother, the Virgin Mary.
Mary is the mother of Jesus, Jesus is God = Mary is the mother of God. Very simple to understand, yet Protestants protest simple common sense. Hail Mary Full of Grace, The Lord is with you and blessed are you amongst women.
Why Jesus would say John behold your mother, given that John has his mother living and around? Why Jesus could say Mary behold your son if she 'had' other children (not at all) or family? Here he gave her the title of spiritual Mother of us surpassing Eve
Is there any passage where Mary is called explicitly the mother of anyone apart from Jesus?, if not, it would be that her marriage with Joseph were of those biblically accepted as valid with a vow of virginity (being that in accordance with Mary's "how can it be if I don't know man"... like a decision already taken); marriage is valid if the husband is aware of and accepted it
Was this not already discussed and resolved back in 431AD at the Council of Ephesus? Why revisit. Through the prayers of the Theotokos, Savior save us.
I’ve been struggling with my Catholicism for a while, but this has always made sense to me, pray for me please, God bless you all

The “human marriage and childbirth” analogy is absolutely incredible, I can’t believe that I’ve never heard it before!
It seems obvious to me. She gave birth. She is the mother of Jesus.
To get around this you would have to say one of three things:
Jesus is two Persons (heresy(
Jesus was not God from the beginning, but became God (heresy)
You give birth to a nature, not a person
Yes, God creates the soul upon conception, while the parents help create the body, but nobody would say that their mom is only the mother of their body, but the mother of them specifically.

Luke 1:28 "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women."
This is in the Hail Mary prayer. Angel Gabriel said this.
Luke 1:41 "...Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost"
God the Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth and made her say:
Luke 1:42 "...Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb."
Again this is in the Hail Mary prayer, God the Holy Spirit allowed Elizabeth to say this, who are you to deny us to say this? When even God the Holy Spirit made it clear.
Luke 1:43 "And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?"
Elizabeth recognized Jesus as her Lord but she also gave the utmost respect and honor to Mary referring to her, this is called veneration not worship.
Luke 1:48 "...from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed."
All generations means up to now, the generations did not stop when the books of the Bible are finished and compiled, this is Bible prophecy fulfilled.
There are many parallels of the "woman" Mary as shown here: ua-cam.com/video/kUdYeYy3NQA/v-deo.html
It is only 11 minutes make sure to finish the video.
The parallels of Lucifer and Mary and why you can call on her name during exorcisms:
Mary is the humblest while the Devil is the proudest.
Mary is the purest while the Devil is the filthiest.
Mary is the most obedient while the Devil is the most rebellious.
Mary always defeats the Devil because she has no taint of sin (original sin):
aleteia.org/2017/07/02/devil-admits-to-exorcist-im-afraid-of-the-madonna/
If you are ever present in an exorcism say her name so the possessed can hear it and watch the reaction.

In all honesty you just have to look at the traditional role of a queen in a kingdom and ascribe to her similar attributes and duties and to look at her role in that context but on much less surface level analysis. Wow. That was just about the best breakdown I have ever heard! Succinct points, and stated so clearly.
Jesus’ Mother and Brothers
46 While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”
48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
And the angel departed from her.” (Lk 1:38)
“And after the days of her purification, according to the law of Moses, were accomplished, they carried him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord:” (Lk 2:22).
“Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5)

There would be no Jesus without Mary.

@@Krafanio Right. I like to think of Mary as the adopted mother of God. Adopted as the mother of God when God conceived Jesus in her whom.
He “came from heaven.”
Then Paul goes on: “As was the earthly man [Adam], so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven [Christ], so also are those who are of heaven.
Each time I pray Hail Mary, I want to cry because I know I am deeply loved. ❤❤❤
cry rather that you are deeply deceived. I can say though that Jesus deeply loves you that is why He endured the cross for you.

The mere fact that the Church teaches that something definitely true is a guarantee that it is true (see Luke 10:16).

I’m trying to understand Catholicism as I am growing closer to considering RCIA. I am a Protestant as of now. I can accept almost everything except for the teaching on Mary being sinless.
In Luke 1 she prays “my spirit rejoices in God my savior”
Why does a sinless person need a savior?
Also, Roman’s is clear in teaching that all have fallen short of the glory of God.
I can understand her being blessed among women, being the Mother of God, and being a person to hold in deep reverence.
Yet, nothing in scripture outlines that she never sinned to me.
I’d appreciate understanding this better.
The Bible is full of amazing holy saints. People who dedicated their lives to God. People I look up to and would expect any Christian to do the same. But none of them no matter how holy or unique ever merit the title sinless to me.
Mary was redeemed of sin before her Conception. She was born as the New Eve, completely without sin, which she preserved all of her life, unlike Eve.

Since Mary spoke of her Savior before Christ's crucifixion, we know that she was saved before! (Please also see my reply above regarding the cells of Jesus remaining in His mother.)
I love ❤️ you mamà Mary .
After Guadalupe, Lourdes, and Fatima how can there be any doubt? What does it take?
We need to pray for their conversion.
Thank you both
As a Protestant myself, I have no problem accepting that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the mother of God. My problem is in the way Roman Catholics almost seem to worship the saints and pray to them.
Veneration of the Saints
Joshua 5:14 Joshua fell prostrate in worship before the angel.
This is what Saints are for Catholics and all mankind: Examples of holiness to live by
1 John 3:2 We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
The Bible reveals that the saints who have died aren’t disconnected from and uninterested in those who are alive on earth
Old Testament Example:
Jeremiah 15:1-Long after their deaths, Moses and Samuel are depicted pleading for the Israelite people on earth
New Testament Examples
Revelation 8:3 - The prayers of the saints rise up before God, and then God acts on earth.
John 15 - “I am the vine, and you are the branches.”
St. Paul - We are the “body of Christ.” It doesn’t make sense that death would rupture this bond.
Hebrews 12:1 - The saints are a “cloud of witnesses”
Intercession for Others Isn’t Optional for Christians
Love of God and love of neighbor go hand in hand.

1 TIMOTHY 6:14-15 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords
REVELATION 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
PHILIPPIANS 2:10-11 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Amen.
I think that probably the most significant divide between Protestants and Catholics, though, is just what is implied by the phrase 'Mary, mother of God' because nowhere in the Scriptures is that ever once implied. Instead, it reads 'Mary, mother of Jesus'. Now, I might also offer that in the Gospel of John (and it is only mentioned once in the entire Scriptures) it records the following text:
'So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven." They said, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he know say, "I have come down from heaven?"'
- John 6:41-42
Jesus is referred to as the 'son of Joseph' is he not? I think oftentimes that many Catholics get so enthused and caught up in the Catholic Doctrine of Mariology that they are then quick to discount that both Joseph and Mary were merely the earthly parents of Messiah. Nothing more and nothing less. Because when you begin to attribute what I considered to be IMHO unbiblical doctrines like the Immaculate Conception and the Perpetual Virginity to the mother of Jesus we risk attributing to her such lofty and one could argue 'divine' traits as were otherwise never at all to be attributed to her.
Thus, I simply offer the following inquiries to those of the Catholic worldview:
And that's just two of the four doctrines of Mariology that will continue to keep me from ever fully embracing the Catholic Church as a personal preference of location to attend any kind of formal religious service, yes.
ill always pray for you.
Holy Theotokos please pray for us🙏🏾☦️
This entire discussion should be ended simply by quoting St Elizabeth in St Luke’s gospel who not only proclaims Mary as “the mother of [her] Lord”, but her words come immediately after the text says that Elizabeth was speaking while filled with the Holy Spirit.
Even this year, I have pointed this out to many evangelicals, and many have said, point blank, that Elizabeth was still wrong.
If you can get these so-called “Bible Christians” to say that scripture is wrong, then the discussion is over. Period. Full stop.
Hahaha
While saying they’re just following the Bible!
4:57 That's modalism, Patrick!
I feel like that’s kinda down playing Jesus’ Divine nature though.
@@aileenbordelon7884 To say she is Jesus' earthly mother?
Perfect explanation
@Peter Cho Holy cow! That's one long unsolicited comment!
Yea, she gave birth to Jesus, and cared for him a few years, that's it, admirable, commendable, not worthy of worship though. Like AT ALL.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!
While the first part of the Hail Mary is almost a direct quotation from Luke 1:28, there is no scriptural basis for (1) praying to Mary, (2) addressing her as “holy,” or (3) calling her “our life” and “our hope.”
Praying the rosary involves giving attributes to Mary that the Bible never gives her.
@@roselaqueen3105 you couldn't be further from the truth, the Hail Mary prayer comes directly from the Gospels... Also, we only ask her to pray for us... This is clear and helpful. But for those of us Protestants who are perfectly happy with Mary as theotokos (can't have salvation without it), what about the other things Matt brought up at the beginning? Those are the things that I need help understanding!
I wish someone would have replied to this because I was thinking,”what’s the big deal here?” 😅
That is some devastating stuff! Keep er' goin!
lol

Thank you Jesus for giving us The Virgin Mary to be our good Mother
@barelyillegal nobody asked. You potty
John 19:26-27
When Jesus saw His Mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, He said to Her, “Woman, here is your son,”
and to the disciple, “Here is your Mother.” From that time on, this disciple took Her into his home.
@barelyillegal2866 The woman in Revelation 12 can also be interpreted as Israel or the Church but anyway you slice it Mary is a part of both and it clearly says in verse 4:
"4 Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born."
Only women give birth and we clearly see this child is Jesus in verse 5.
"5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne."
So we clearly know who Jesus's Mother is, Mary!
@barelyillegal2866 It does when She is the Mother of God.
@barelyillegal2866 The Woman gives birth to a male child who is to rule the nations with a rod of iron. That’s a reference to the Messianic prophecy in Psalm 2, where we read:
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.
Praise God for your deep faith in God to accept Mary the Mother of JESUS CHRIST THE ONLY SON OF GOD. ADMIRABLE.
Why Jesus would say John behold your mother, given that John has his mother living and around? Why Jesus could say Mary behold your son if she 'had' other children (not at all) or family? Here he gave her the title of spiritual Mother of us surpassing Eve
Is there any passage where Mary is called explicitly the mother of anyone apart from Jesus?, if not, it would be that her marriage with Joseph were of those biblically accepted as valid with a vow of virginity (being that in accordance with Mary's "how can it be if I don't know man"... like a decision already taken); marriage is valid if the husband is aware of and accepted it
Luke 1:43
I don't really get what you are saying...Mary had Jesus then she married Joseph and had more children Mark 3 v 31-32.
and cf Numbers 30:3-7, if you accept the tradition associated with the Protoevangelium of James.
Was this not already discussed and resolved back in 431AD at the Council of Ephesus? Why revisit.
Through the prayers of the Theotokos, Savior save us.
Don't be deceived!
